Malcum; the K&N you installed, did you have to modify the airfilter housing at all or did it just drop in? What did it run you for the filter? If you got a special deal online or anything, can you let me know where? thanks
I have a frontier se v6 4x4, I installed a K&N cone style air filter, It does away with the old air box altogether it was pretty easy and it took less than 30 minutes i got it at www.4x4parts.com. rumor has it that it increases output about 3-5 hp ( i like the extra sound it makes), K&N also has a drop in filter, which does not require any modifications to the stock air box, power gains are not as good 1-2 hp, the cone filter costs about 120, the drop in costs about 45 clams.
proven; thanks for the info, I haven't gotten a kit, and we don't sell them, because of warranty issues, but a customer of mine did get a 3" body lift done, it looked pretty good, but he started having mechanical problems because I think it wasn't done right, all of the hose for the AC etc. were now really stretched, because the engine is still in the original place, also he took the skid plates off and did some damage the next time he went 4x4ing, but I think if you do it right, there should be no problem, just be aware that modifications can void your warranty.
No, I did not have to make any modifications. The air filter is made specifically for the Frontier 4cyl. There must be a demand because k&n didn't start making them till recently. I wanted one when I added the catback, but the owner of the perfomance shop said k&n wasn't making them at the time. You will probably have to special order one. I paid about $35.00, and it is worth it.
Thanks for the help guys, I guess I will try the drop in filter for the price and also my service manager said that any mods can void the warranty if Nissan decided to be sticklers about it.
There was a terrible, at least 3 vehicle pile up on the highway outside my work today, a frontier x-cab 4cylinder got sandwiched between two vehicles! I did not see it happen, just the effects, at least one of the vehicles was a fully loaded 18 wheeler! The bed was pushed in to about 1/2 of the original length and the front end was pushed in too. the cabin was completely intact, even with the force of the bed coming in at it. the airbags were deployed, I think they took the guy to the hospital, but I think as long as he was wearing his seatbelt he'll be OK, I felt pretty good about my truck after seeing that.
Just read the review on the 2001 Pathfinder. The article mentioned that Nissan is developing a full size pickup for the North American Market. Hmmm, I had no idea. I guess we will see how what sort of approach Nissan takes as compared to Toyota. Should be interesting...
Does anyone know if there is a way to find out what models and options are due to come out of the factory and where they will be shipped to. I'm having a difficult time trying to find the truck I want with the options I want in the color I want. My dealer did a search and the nearest he could locate was approx. 1,000 miles away. He offered to have someone drive it up but I would rather go down and pick it up myself. He said that I couldn't do that because of insurance reasons. I would even be willing to go to where ever it is to make the deal if I knew exactly where the location was. I didn't have the guts to ask him where it was after all the trouble I already put him through. Any suggestions?
Sorry, I forgot to say that I'm looking for a Frontier 4X2 KC auto with power package, value truck package, value plus package, mats, under rail bedliner, and bed extender. Also, I would consider a 4X4 XE KC auto with same options except the off road package in place of the value plus package. color preference in order would be Sand Dune, Charcoal, Alpine Green, or Salsa.
Salt; I would negotiate having the truck trailered down, the dealer should have access to a trailer, or if that does not work out, you would need to order one which will take around 90 days, but I think if you are happy with the deal they worked out for you, if you offered them $150-200 to have it trailered they would find a way.
Ordering was not an option because I would have to order a 2001. If I knew what the 4X2 2001 looked like I might consider doing that but I would not consider a 2001 4X4 because I prefer the look of the 2000. As for trailering, the dealer didn't offer it but I might consider it. Actually, I really would enjoy going to pick it up myself since one is located in Florida. I just don't know where in Florida. BTW, I live in the Philly suburbs. Cncman, Would I be asking a bit to much if I asked you to run a search for me? I would not want to either put you out or have you step over any ethical or moral bounds. Either way, thanks for the suggestions!
Salt, If you are interested I can check on one of the dealers here for the C.C. that you are looking for. I pass by Lokey Nissan here in Clearwater,FL every single morning and evening. They have at least 50-60 Crew Cabs right NOW! They only had three in march when I bought mine(at the time they didn't have a fully loaded SE 4x4) so i bought mine in Tampa across the bay. But let me know I'll stop in if you want I don't mind, it gives me an excuse to drive mine. Just let me know what you want on it.
Salt, I don't mind doing a search, but that doesn't necessarily mean that the truck will be available, and I would get the exact same info as the dealer you are working with, I think it would still be best to offer the dealer a price to have them trialer it in, let us know how it is going.
MahiMahi, Thanks for the offer but it's a King Cab and not a Crew Cab that I'm looking for. I've decided to try to find a 4x4 XE auto, with Power Package, Value Truck Package and Off Road Package. I would also like it to have a bed extender, floor mats, an under rail bedliner and Tubular side rails but I think they can add these items on at the dealer. How do you like your Crew Cab? Any problems? Cncman, I guess I could try my dealer again but he just didn't seem all that interested in really trying to find what I wanted. He told me there were only two equiped like the above truck. One in Harrisburg and one in Buffalo. I wasn't thrilled about the color choice either. I find it hard to believe there are no others. Am I correct in saying that the dealer can add the bed liner, bed extender, floor mats, and step rails? I really like the look of this truck. I sure hope I can locate one soon. Thanks again and if you get time to do that search, I would be a happy camper!
You mentioned above you wanted KC with a bed extender and roof rack. I don't believe Nissan offers the bed extender or roof rak on a KC - only the CC. You can get the side rails though.
I have a 4x4 KC and the siderails came standard as part of the SE package ( I got a loaded SE - everything except leather seats).
Floor mats are pretty much included in any truck you buy. They list them as a separate item, but you can get them to toss them in free. They're only like $50 or something.
If you want an under the rail liner you'll probably have to specify that as most come with an over the rail as standard - but they'll swap it out at no charge (at least they should!).
Never mentioned a roof rack and they do offer a bed extender on pretty much any Frontier but only with the under rail bed liner or no bed liner at all. I don't know why they wont't let you get it with the over rail bed liner but it doesn't matter because I prefer the under rail. I also looked at the SE, but I think I like the XE a little better. They're both pretty sharp trucks IMO. Was leather an option when you purchased yours? I don't believe they offer it now unless it's a dealer add-on. Are you happy with your SE? If I can't find an XE equiped the way I want, I may go for the SE instead. There's really not much difference in price. In fact I think you actually get a little more for your money with the SE, but I like the black fender flares and the wheels better on the XE. On the subject of the SE, does anyone know if the sunroof thats part of the sport package is removable? Thanks again for the help!
I have the sunroof and it is removable. I haven't tried it though(it's been like 90 degrees and very sunny down here, too hot!) I hope my roof rack doesn't get in the way because, you have to flip it up, push the buttons in push the glass totally vertical to the roof then slide it to one side so I hope there is enough room. By the way, my salesman told me when I looked at this truck that the sunroof wasn't removable. He felt like a real [non-permissible content removed] when i flipped down the passenger visor and there were the instructions on how to remove and install the sunroof. I did happen to stop by Lokey Nissan today( I'm thinking about getting the bed extender...I hated them when I first got this truck so it's the only option I didn't get)I looked to see if they might have had a truck that might suit you. The closest I could come was an Alpine Green Desert Runner. It had the power pkg. limited diff. mats and an over the rail liner. Oh it also had the side bars and everything else that comes std on the desert runner. They only had one 4x4 and it was a C.C.(base se). This particular dealer has the bed extender installed with both the over the rail and under the rail liners and on both the KC and CC. To answer your earlier question, I love this truck. I bought it on March 6th and I already have 6200 miles on it, no problems. I look for any excuse to drive it as you can tell.
My .02 cents, like you mentioned,is to go with the SE. I had too tmuch trouble trying to "customize" and XE to my liking. It was pretty much impossible. Once I decided to go with the SE it was a breeze. Plus, I go them to remove the charge for the Power Package. In the final negotiations I told them I was ready to buy only if they dropped the 1K for the power package.
Also, never seen any KC Frontier with a bed extender anywhere. I guess you could probably add it onas a dealer installed thing, but why? A KC has a full sized bed anyway. Also, there's no lock for it and it can be stolen in like 2 seconds.
Hello! I have not forgotten our dispute between RAnger and Frontier folks. Its summertime now in the Northwest and don't spend nearly as much time on the computer. When the sun shines here you take full advantage of it when you can. I have a few threads but not enough to hammer it home yet. Did however read an interesting article in the business section today. Nissan looses 6.3BILLION, yes thats Billion dollars!!!???? Despite the small gain in U.S. sales, sales in Europe and Asia have gone flat or retreated. Explain this one cncman.......
Do you mean the commercial version of the Ranger that Ford of Europe sells?
If you haven't noticed, Europeans don't like trucks OR SUV's. They like small, efficient cars. They love diesel engines, hatchbacks, and wagons. It's almost a mirror image to North America.
In such a crowded area with gas prices around $5 a gallon, I think I'd head that direction too. Just take a look, the Mondeo (sold as the Contour in the states) is Ford's biggest offering.
It's a pity that we don't get some of Europe's offerings stateside. They've got some real screamers over there for well less than $20K. Hell, even the UK Fiesta looks pretty neat.
VInce, good to see you come out of hiding, I love how you can pop in here once every few weeks, spread some misinformation, ignore the responses people have made to your allegations, and then run and hide again, I am sure there is a place for you in politics somewhere, I think you missed your calling. I think you need to scroll back about 50 posts and respond to all of the bad info you have already put in here before you try to spread more. I am sorry it has taken you almost a month to look under your truck, but I know you have been busy.
For someone that hates Nissan as much as you, you sure know the ins and outs of what happens with Nissan, but somehow you always miss the big news on Fords like, ford raises prices for the fith time on 2000 models, and announces the biggest campaign in a decade on the 3.8l V6 engines, Ford is extending the warranty on these engines because they are so terrible, or they are giving you $4,000 off on a new Ford. But I guess things like this don't come up when you are looking for stuff on Nissan Huh? Do you ever read the whole article in anything you post or do oyu just pick out what sounds good to you, everyone can see the article you are talking about at autochannel.com May19 headlines. SOmehow you missed that they said the drop was due to the impact of adverse changes in foreign exchange rates and a declining consumer demand for passenger vehicles. As well as plant closures and expenses related to Nissan's revival plan which is having a "faster and deeper impact than planned" and also "Nissan is today on a fast track to returning to lasting profitable growth" Also the last I heard, Ford's overseas operations weren't exactly peachy either. SO again what does this have to do with which is a better truck? Absolutely zero, You just always run out of intelligent things to say about the trucks and have to fall back on something so what does this prove? If you can't bring anything to the table, stay out of the kitchen. Have a nice day.
Call it what you like cncman, twist the truth, 6.3 Billion dollars is a whole lot of money to lose for any corporation. I didn't read in my article anything about exchange rates playing a role, it specifically said "A LOSS OF 6.3BILLION DOLLARS" not YEN, or FRANK, or WON, or MARKS, it was DOLLARS. By the way why can't Nissan build a normally aspirated engine to compete with the 4.0 from Ford? Why do they have to bandaid it with a supercharger? And why does the Frontier come in marginal at www.crashtest.com? When the Ford Ranger comes in Good?? When the body of the Nissan is supposed to be stronger??
Thanks for the economics lesson Vince, but it is impossible for me to twist the truth when I quote and give a source like I did, maybe you ought to try it sometime, but again your point is....? Exactly, it doesn't matter to you how much money Ford is loosing overseas, why should it matter to us if Nissan is? And again, and again, and again, what does this have to do with which is a better truck? How long has it been since you promised to come in here wiht all of this information about how the ranger suspension is better and all of the other stuff you said, I still haven't seen one link, or quote or anything from you on the same subject. As far as the "bandaid" on the 3.3l, it doesn't compete with the 4.0l, it blows it away! And I know for a fact that if Ford made an optional supercharger on the ranger you would be singing its praises, not calling it a bandaid. and even without it it still is more powerful, lasts longer with less maintenance. Maybe you should have read the post I put in here a few days ago about the wreck I saw where a frontier got sandwiched between two semis on the highway and was still intact, plus all of the ones I have seen come into my body shop, I feel very safe in my truck. If you want a real safety test, why not take the 4x4's up to 60mph, hit the brakes and see which one hits the wall, with 100ft more stopping distance it would be the ranger! That is so safe! I think I will just sit back and wait for you to post some of those links you were talking about, that is of course if you actually found anything!
vince, cncman is correct, you still continue to ignore the queries to you on this post. Are you having a reading and comprehension problem?I agree with cncman that your last posts have nothing to do with the truck comparisons.I will delve into your last posts. You failed to mention that the loss includes a one time extraordinary expense.I found a little excerpt in Detroit News and maybe you can answer this. The Excursion is also one of Ford's most profitable vehicles, carrying profit margins estimated at $15,000.
If their profit margin on the Excursion is that, what is their profit margin on their other vehicles?
I just read that Ford is planning on adding a supercharger to it's 3.9 V8 in the future. Why can't Ford build a normally aspirated V8 instead of band-aiding with a supercharger????
What! no comment on the crash rating??? How come Nissan Frontier did so poorly at www.crashtest.com?? Once again cncman fibs, the new supercharged 3.3 will only be available on certain models. It will have 210HP and 240ft/lbs of torque. Vs the NORMALLY aspirated DOHC 4.0 of 205HP and 240ft/lbs of torque, the NORMALLY aspirated 3.4 of Toyota with 190HP and 220ft/lbs of torque! Nissan needs the bandaid in order to just compete. Anyone knows an engine that is force induced doesn't last as long as an engine that is normally aspirated. Anyone who knows anything at all about engines knows this. Ask anyone who races cars. I used to rebuild engines when I was younger the V8's of yesterday, the 350's, 289's, 302's, 396's ect.. Remember NOX??? Noway can an engine take this type of abuse and last to 100K without blowing something or spinning something. Dream on.. the 3.3 isn't that great of an engine... As far as profits/losses. The 6.3Billion hurts cncman, you cannot deny that. And this far exceeds the ratio of debt/income to size of company when comparing Ford to Nissan. This does matter when you look into the future, will Nissan survive? Ford doesn't make a 3.9 V8....
Vince, I guess you are still having trouble with your reading and comprehension skills, I did comment on the crash test data, I feel very safe in my frontier after real world crashes I have seen, I will take this data over any lab test anyday, also if you look, the frontier and Ranger have the same rating on injury claims, if the frontier was so much worse than the ranger, then why are their injury ratings the same? Also, which of the two have the black squares in the fatality ratings? I'll give you a hint, it is the ranger. And how did I fib? Explain yourself, I never said it would be on all models, are you telling me that the 4.0l sohc engine is going to be in all rangers? Well that's news to me. I guess only time will tell if the engine will hold up, at least Nissan will be backing it up with a 5yr/60,000 mile warranty, what is Ford's warranty going to be on the great 4.0l? And why is it that way back when, you were telling everyone that the OHV was superior to an OHC design, but I did not hear you complain once about the cammer coming out from Ford. This also sounds like when the Crew Cab came out and you were laughing at the short bed, but again no complaints about the sport trac bed which is even shorter, why is that VInce? I am glad you have experience rebuilding engines, I am sure that will come in handy with the vehicles you drive. OK since you can't seem to listen very well, I am going to list the things you need to address before you start mouthing off again.
1. YOu have been promising us some earth shattering links on the ranger/frontier debate and why the ranger suspension is better, where are they? You have had plenty of time.
2. Did you read what the article at autochannel.com said about the exchange rate and expenses and how Nissan's plan is going better than expected? Comments?
3.Where are those torque curves you have been promising us for the last two months?
4.HAve you looked under your truck yet or researched that point like you said?
5.Explain why you think that a torsion bar suspension is not good on a 4x2.
6.Why is it You can only get all of the features you brag about on the top of the line 4x4 ranger, the one that sells the least?
7.Where is Ford's automatic in the four cylinder?
8.What about FOrd raising prices for the fith time this year and the campaign on the 3.8l V6, the most expensive campaign in a decade?
Now hopefully this will make things easier for you, these are all things you said you would address, but we haven't seen anything new from you, what are you afraid of? You said you were just gathering the info to prove your point, well here is your opportunity! I am sure there are more items that others would add here, so feel free to do so.
Why don't you tell us why Nissan did so poor on the crash test?My mistake. What am I doing asking someone who cannot go out to his truck and look under it and ascertain what is under there. I see you are as ignorant about engines as you are about everything else. The engine will last if you build it right.I would agree that YOUR engines would not last, and I SERIOUSLY doubt YOUR ABILITY on being able to even change spark plugs. I do rebuild engines and a few race engines blown and on the bottle. They are still together and doing well with no problems.
Vince, I think you conveinently forgot to answer cygnusx1's question.
I'm sure you wouldn't call a supercharger on a ford engine and bandaid, would you? Maybe you can all share with us, what do you call it?
Anticipated Response: "The ford 3.8 V8 is already superior to any Nissan Engine, so the SC is not a bandaid, it just makes the engine even more superior to Nissan"
Not that I'm responding to Vince8, because I vowed to ignore the....reponses. So my comment is to the rest of you guys...How many bandaids has ford put on their vehicles anyway? Remember the shoe-box turbo that they put on their EXP, turbo on their T-Bird then went to a supercharger, well with a history of dipping into the bandaid box and these 'fine refinements' that ford was doing I could understand the FEAR a FORD FAN might have...hahaha! Because I tell you guys I see plenty of Supercharged MR2's still running around! So just because one company can't design an engine don't lump the rest of them in that catagory. I'm still curious why do you need to have a five speed auto with the 4.0L, why?why?why? From what I've seen it doesn't benefit in any way.
>Once again cncman fibs, the new supercharged 3.3 >will only be available on certain models.
What exactly is this point anyway? Yes, it will be available on certain models. Meaning - if you want a truck with it, you can buy one with it. If you want a truck without it - you can buy one without it.
Anyway, you seem to have conveniently skipped over my questions I asked earlier. Why is Ford Motor Company bandaiding a V8 with a supercharger? Cant they build a normally aspirated V8. What gives?
Also, go check out all the great stuff on ford at the blueoval site (I know you've been there tons of times). Lots of great Ford info there about Ford knowing about all the defective engines they were selling consumers. And no, blueoval is not the only place to find this info. It came out a long time ago in serveral publications and on the radio and on the tv and on the netc, etc. And Ford had an absolute fit about the fact that their own company employees were leaking info to the public about some of their crummy trannys. Even their own employees had to speak up. Yikes.
Cncman, as much as you want to believe the Frontier is NOT as safe as the Ranger in an impact. Take a look right here at Edmnunds review also of the Frontier, it does very poorly. As far as the black marks you fail to mention these are for older Rangers, you also fail to mention how bad the older Nissan pickups do in comparison to the older Rangers. The reason I talk 4x4 is because I own one. I don't own a 4x2 Ranger. You folks keep bashing me on my reading comprehension. I am starting to wonder about all of yours. Crash tests don't lie, as I keep saying check Edmunds and www.crashtest.com for just two sources. The Nissan does very poorly in comparison to the Ranger. I will answer your questions when you answer just one of mine. Why can't Nissan build a normally aspirated engine to compete with Ford/Chevy/Toyota? Why the bandaid? Do you realize what a superchared DOHC would do to a 3.3 supercharged? The 4.0 would probably put out about 235HP and around 280ft/lbs of torque!!
By the way cncman, are you trying to compare 4x2 vs 4x2 or 4x4 vs 4x4 here? Where is Nissans 5spd automatic? Where is Nissans stepside? Where is Nissans Sport Truck? Ford Ranger Adrenalin is coming this fall, where is Nissans answer to the Ford Adrenalin and Chevy Extreme? Even Toyota is coming out with a 2wd sport model soon, along with a stepside. Can you get the 3.3 in a 2wd 5spd? You can Ford bash all you want. Ford is still 4x the size of Nissan, still makes profits too! Nissan hasn't seen a profit in how many years?? Nissan has fallen behind Honda in sales number too. Honda doesn't even build trucks!! LOL. Like I said, I don't spend hours and hours on the computer. It takes time to find information. I will though, you guys just sparked a blaze you won't be able to put out.....
vince, you forgot to mention that the crash test was not on a 2000 Frontier, while they tested a 2000 Ranger.YOUR reading and comprehension skills are still in doubt. There are some of us who don't mind talking about 4x4.I can understand you wanting to talk about 4x4,but,you cannot seem to talk intelligently on any subject. You seem to think that owning a 4x4 makes you an expert. You have not shown here that you know anything about any subject that has been broached here.I have to say that you have been elected the poster child for ignorance by the people in my shop. They are constantly astonished by your "knowledge".Keep it up.It gives them a laugh everday you have something to say. I thought I smelled burning rubber.
Oh yeah, when I was trying to find out why Ford is bandaiding their V8 I found a great Ford site created by the many satisfied Ford owners. LOL! This is great!
Man, Vince, keep putting it off, we all know you don't have anything, so far as the crash tests, I think I adequately answered your question, but if you want more info, I admit Ford has over the last few years been a leader in safety, they have done very well with that, my hat's off to them for that, I still think the frontier is as safe as a ranger in an impact, two reasons, (see I make a statement, then offer reasons for what I am saying, you ought to try it sometime)The first is that I have seen several frontiers brought into my body shop, with various amounts of damage, noone was ever seriously hurt, one guy fell asleep at the wheel, went through a ditch, over a concrete rail, rolled completely over and ended up through the fence on a tennis court, the cab was entirely intact, even when it went upside down, and the truck was still relatively straight, the other was the event I mentioned before, where a frontier got sandwiched between two semis at highway speeds, the bed was pushed up and to the right, the nose was caved in, but the cab was never comprimised. Also I was rear ended myself by an old truck at a stoplight, his nose hit the rear corner of my bumper, not going very fast, but my bumper was only bent a little at the bottom, you can't even tell and the whole nose of the other truck was pushed in and the radiator was leaking. The other reason is that if you look at the data, the only part the frontier did bad on was the offset, front and side impacts were basically identicle for the frontier and ranger, plus they both had the same injury score, acceptable, so this shows that you are not more likely to get injured in a frontier than a ranger in real world situations. And don't you think that maybe stopping would be a safety feature? I would rather avoid an accident than hope I don't get hurt in one, why is the ranger stopping distance 100 feet more? But I guess that doesn't factor into your equation. Nissan can build a normally aspirated V6 that can compete, they already did that with the pathfinder which blows away anything offered by ford. The supercharger as much as you don't want to admit it is not a bad thing, why is it OK for Ford to do it and not Nissan? the 3.3l is one of the most solid dependable workhorse of an engine you can find that has been around for a long time, with proven reliability, why can't ford build a normally aspirated v6 that can compete with Nissan/Toyota on reliability? Maybe we can go back and ask Loki99? So I think I have answered all of your questions even though you can't respond to your own statements and do what you said you would do, so when are you going to get to answerin'?
I'll compare any Nissan 4x2 or 4x4 to any comparable ranger 4x2 or 4x4, I, like most buyers own a 4cylinder 4x2, and as long as we are asking why, why can't ford build a 4cylinder that competes with anything? The majority of rangers on the road have a JOKE of an engine, WEAK, no TORQUE or horsepower, that is why you can't even get it with an automatic transmission. Nissan doesn't offer a stepside because the Nissan truck is a work truck it is not there to show off or be anything other than tough, reliable transportation that does alot of work, so why is the ranger bed smaller than the frontier bed, a bed is what makes a truck a truck and where are all of the dividers built into the bed like the frontier has? I don't think you need a 5spd auto in a compact truck, I think it is just a gimmick, I think ford should try to make four reliable gears before they try to make a fith. Your post 508 just shows me how ignorant you really are, you have made two big glaring mistakes that you should probably know by now if you know anything, first of all, the adrenaline and extreme and sport trac are all answers to Nissan's crew cab, (we got there first remember) Ford is following Nissan like they have been for the last 30 years, and Nissan does have a sport truck, ever hear of the SUT? you have probably seen a similar version of it, ford calls it the sport trac. And thank you, Doyle has already corrected you on the other glaring mistake, yes you can get the 3.3l in a 4x2 with a 5spd you dunce, so what is your point? You know it is odd that you promise all of this great info that you already said you have been collecting, you told us you already had some of the info, but when someone asks you where it is you say you don't have time to find it, well why not give us what you already said you have???? And you don't have time to look under your truck, but you have plenty of time to go over the financial reports of a company you don't like and research crash information, Hmmm, explain to us how that is? I think the only blaze that can't be put out is those faulty Ford wiring harnesses and ignitions, SO have I answered all of your questions to your satisfaction Vince, because you know we are all just here to baby sit you and make you happy, when are you going to put up or shut up???
cygnusk, thanks for the post, I actually mentioned the faulty ignitions starting fires before you even posted your post, well, great minds think alike, I really like the cartoon on the flaming ford.com site, where the burned up guy is watching TV, the TV asks, have you driven a ford lately? and he says yes! BTW my dad's girlfriend had a 89 I think bronco that caught on fire after she got into work, she drives a Nissan Xterra now. What do they say about, burn me once shame on you?
Correct me if I'm wrong Vince, if you are a true trucker as you have so eloquently exclaimed, why would you go with a "soccer mom drive itself tranny" if you are some big bad 4x4'er as shown in pictures of your truck in pretty backgrounds. I know I'm not a true trucker but would still rather have a manual tranny. So even if you are just bringing up another negative topic again Nissan you stated all you comments up until recently were about comparing 4x4's. I know if I was offroading I wouldn't trust an automatic. So what tranny do you have in your ranger, Vince?
Vince, maybe you can actually answer the question this time, instead of bringing up another topic. How about you answer this question, then bring up another topic. Just ask if you need instructions.
Ok, who wants to bet the either Vince doesn't "have time" to be in here for awhile or comes back and doesn't answer anything, I am giving good odds, any takers?
Yeah, he has to coach his new football team, or is it baseball now? His team takes all of his time (24hr, 7 days/wk). If vince wants to show us all up, he should at least be here to do it. It's pretty sad when cthompson (nothing again you; you debate intelligently) can't help vince with his mistakes anymore. Maybe he can send us a picture of the team he coaches in front of his 4x4 truck (with a pretty mountainous background).

Thanks guys. When I commit to doing this modification, I will make sure the pipe diameter remains the same from the cat output to the muffler input...
Anybody else see this Himalaya concept SUV/Truck/CC?
the K&N you installed, did you have to modify the airfilter housing at all or did it just drop in?
What did it run you for the filter? If you got a special deal online or anything, can you let me know where?
thanks
thanks for the info, I haven't gotten a kit, and we don't sell them, because of warranty issues, but a customer of mine did get a 3" body lift done, it looked pretty good, but he started having
mechanical problems because I think it wasn't done right, all of the hose for the AC etc. were now really stretched, because the engine is still in the original place, also he took the skid plates off and did some damage the next time he went 4x4ing, but I think if you do it right, there should be no problem, just be aware that modifications can void your warranty.
I would negotiate having the truck trailered down,
the dealer should have access to a trailer, or if that does not work out, you would need to order one which will take around 90 days, but I think if you are happy with the deal they worked out for you, if you offered them $150-200 to have it trailered they would find a way.
same. One will have 4WD, one won't.
Got to www.freshalloy.com , click on "Car Features" on the right then click on the link to the 2001 Frontier.
If you are interested I can check on one of the dealers here for the C.C. that you are looking for.
I don't mind doing a search, but that doesn't necessarily mean that the truck will be available, and I would get the exact same info as the dealer you are working with, I think it would still be best to offer the dealer a price to have them trialer it in, let us know how it is going.
MahiMahi,
Thanks for the offer but it's a King Cab and not a Crew Cab that I'm looking for.
Cncman,
I guess I could try my dealer again but he just didn't seem all that interested in really trying to find what I wanted.
SE. I had too tmuch trouble trying to "customize"
and XE to my liking.
Did however read an interesting article in the business section today. Nissan looses 6.3BILLION, yes thats Billion dollars!!!???? Despite the small gain in U.S. sales, sales in Europe and Asia have gone flat or retreated. Explain this one cncman.......
Hell, even the UK Fiesta looks pretty neat.
good to see you come out of hiding, I love how you can pop in here once every few weeks, spread some misinformation, ignore the responses people have made to your allegations, and then run and hide again, I am sure there is a place for you in politics somewhere, I think you missed your calling.
Billion dollars is a whole lot of money to lose for any corporation.
When the body of the Nissan is supposed to be stronger??
what does this have to do with which is a better truck? If you want a real safety test, why not take the 4x4's up to 60mph, hit the brakes
and see which one hits the wall, with 100ft more stopping distance it would be the ranger! That is so safe! I think I will just sit back and wait for you to post some of those links you were talking about, that is of course if you actually found anything!
cncman is correct, you still continue to ignore the queries to you on this post.
I guess web sites like that just conveniently disappear when he goes into these corny tirades
about Ford.
I guess you are still having trouble with your reading and comprehension skills, I did comment on the crash test data, I feel very safe in my frontier after real world crashes I have seen, I will take this data over any lab test anyday, also if you look, the frontier and Ranger have the same rating on injury claims, if the frontier was so much worse than the ranger, then why are their injury ratings the same?
Oh, and how many Ford tattos do you have Vince?
>Once again cncman fibs, the new supercharged 3.3
>will only be available on certain models.
What exactly is this point anyway? Yes, it will be
available on certain models.
Yikes.
This is great!
I think the only blaze that can't be put out is those faulty Ford wiring harnesses and ignitions,
SO have I answered all of your questions to your satisfaction Vince, because you know we are all just here to baby sit you and make you happy, when are you going to put up or shut up???
thanks for the post, I actually mentioned the faulty ignitions starting fires before you even posted your post, well, great minds think alike, I really like the cartoon on the flaming ford.com site, where the burned up guy is watching TV, the TV asks, have you driven a ford lately? and he says yes! BTW my dad's girlfriend had a 89 I think bronco that caught on fire after she got into work, she drives a Nissan Xterra now. What do they say about, burn me once shame on you?
