I have a build date of 4-06 on my door sticker. And I thought all 3.5 300's built after 9-05 have a 5 speed tranny. Im not sure If I do. My auto stick will only display up to 4 on the dash if I manually shift. When just listening to the gears shift in auto Im not sure if Im going into 5th or juat an overdrive.
I guess the best way to determine is can someone with a 5 speed auto stick tell me if it displays 5th gear on the dash if you manually shift. And if I dont have a 5 speed , shouldnt I with a 4-06 build date ???
is A 5 speed.
Ive had the car for 4 days and loving it so far. Heres a quick review incase anyone reading this is considering the 300 touring.
I have an 06 Linen Gold 300 Touring. With 13000 miles.
First off the 3.5 is plenty powerful. I traded in an Aurora I owned for 6 years with the V8 4.0 Northstar and this car is every bit as powerful. With much better acceleration.
Ride is tight for a big car. Very quite and zero rattles. I forgot how much better a rear wheel drive car turns than the FWD cars Ive been driving the last 10 years. Steering is very responsive.
Interior is nice and clean. A bit boring , but thats what the Limited is for if you choose to pay for it. I think at some point Im going to put in the factory Nav system. You can find the factory systems for sale online.
The only real complaints I have is the seats are a bit flat and theres a lot of wind noise when you open the sunroof over 45mph. Stereo is a bit weak , but again i chose the Touring.
The only problem Ive encoutered is what I think is possibly a bad wheel bearing. Or one of the Goodyear Integrity tires may be bad. Im hearing a very slight countinuous thumping sound sometimes when slowing down from like 50MHP. It sounds like maybe a dead spot in a tire or something. And I only seem to hear it on certain types of road surfaces. Really isnt that bad , but its the only thing wrong with the car I would classify as a problem. Ill get it checked out though.
Overall. I love the car.
I actually like how the 4 speed Autostick in my 99 Intrepid ES works in some ways better than the 5 speed in the 300. In the Intrepid, when in Autostick mode, the transmission automatically downshifts to first when you come to a stop. The 5 speed doesn't do that. Also, the 4 speed lets you know exactly what gear you are in, including 4. The 5 speed goes from 4 to D. Now when in automatic mode, the 5 speed is probably a superior transmission, but I have no complaints about the 4 speed Autostick in the Intrepid. :shades:

Anyway, here is what it says for my 2006 300C:
US/Canadian Parts:72%
Final Assembly: Brampton Ontario
Country of Origin:
Engine: Mexico
Transmission: United States
So I believe that at least some of those 5 speeds are made in Kokomo.
It's a W5A580 transmission. :shades:
It's a minor transmission leak that gets fixed in less than an hour. You would be nuts to trade it in for this because no car is perfect.
How about its maintenance costs?
Btw I've been told buying a brand new one isnt worth it since it loses almost $10k the 1st year, is it true?
If it is, then how much should I look forward to spend on an 06 or 07 300C?
I spotted a silver on beige 06 300c, 19k miles, almost fully loaded w/ protection group, sound group, wood trim, sunroof and xenon.
This is my 1st time for a Chrysler, so any infos are very appreciated
I'm actually more concerned than confident with the sales though. Particularly on technology and availability of parts. I hope they will still use MB parts and technology in 300s.
No offense but Chrysler sedans pre-300c are total mess imo. I do however admit they look good, especially the 300M. Crossfire looks good too.
Our '99 Intrepid ES has 115,000 miles, has been a great car and still is. I have no qualms about my son taking it to college next month, 250 miles away. Our other son's 2000 Cherokee has 117,000 and has given us no trouble (except A/C, which is being repaired now). I recently bought a used 2005 Grand Cherokee and wife mostly drives the 2006 300C. Our daughter has a 2004 Accord, which has also been very good, but has had more recalls than any of our Mopars have ever had. I also can't say enough about the service I have gotten at our local Chrysler/Jeep dealer. What can I say, we are more than satisfied with Chrysler, before, during, and after the merger. :shades:
This is a great deal. Its for most models and for the first buyer. It can't be transfered to another buyer. This is for '07 and '08 model years.
Exterior: new trunk lid with third brake light at top of trunk lid, taking it out of the rear window
Interior: new console.
There are pics available if you search the Internet. :shades:
My previous car was an Audi A6 which was unreliable and not particularly fun to drive, and prior to that, it was a Ford Taurus (reliable and also not particularly fun to drive). Business is good and I pretty much have my pick of any foreign or domestic vehicle. My choice is a 300C AWD.

I have never heard of this. Why would Chrysler be responsible for a blow out of a tire? Tires can deflate for any number of reasons. Was it properly inflated before the "blow out"? Had he run over something? Chrysler is not responsible for tires anyway, the tire manufacturer is if a defect can be proven. :shades:
I figured that someone might know something about this this issue and be able to recommend a better tire in the same size.
What constitutes a blowout that would be thought to be due to a tire defect? To me that means a properly inflated and cared for tire lost pressure at speed. Actual "blowouts" are not something associated with tubeless tires. Most tire failures occur because of puncture damage or heat caused by underinflation. :shades:
