    Although Albertson's (and I assume Costco and Fred Meyer) has regular for $2.93 here in Boise.

    I took my old car out today and stopped for a few gallons, and notice it dropped to 3.25. Not too bad. I've seen it over 3.50 many times. The Peoples Republic of Puget Sound has high gas taxes, and in return we get....lots of overpaid consultants and goofy WSP experiments and no real traffic or road improvements. Oh well. At least prices are a lot less higher than the average than they have been for much of the past,.

    in Willcox, AZ, today. We then travelled to Safford, AZ, 45 miles to our northeast, and stations there had 87 no-lead for $2.83 at the lowest. Most stations there were $2.89-$2.99.

    I don't know about y'all, but isn't it time for a futures-trading explosion of sorts? Like, ummm...a refinery fire about to catch in Canada somewhere, a trader's son born in Maryland that will require increased costs of living...diapers, et all, ummm....let's see...a fireworks storage house explosion in Louisiana that will cause a spark in demand for firetruck gas, etc., etc.

    Seems we haven't been bopped in the head with a ridiculous futures bubble pop for a while and there's no way they can tolerate this sub-$3.00/gal 87 no-lead thing goin' on any longer. Hang on, a speech from Hugo Chavez regarding mysterious production quagmires of a severely fractitious nature causes futures traders to collectively have koniption fits and artificially inflate our oil prices for a short time. Due to fears of a lack of Argentine oil futures to trade on. Long enough to drive prices to $3.50/gal.

    Then it will be something else important to their futures to mess with our nice, low ghastly prices of $2.99/gal. Just know in your hearts that the reason will be totally necessary and needed. For somebody.

    Don't worry, March is just around the corner. Just like last year, prices will likely start their rapid upward climb.

    I look for the prices to keep dropping as long as there is so much fear of a recession. The Futures traders don't like getting stuck with high priced oil they cannot sell at a profit. OPEC will not mess with output levels unless the price drops radically. Maybe down to $40.

    Well, they haven't dropped here by much (only 15 cents) over the last couple of months, so unless this recession is really bad (jury still out on that one), I don't foresee much of a reduction in the summer driving season. So I'm guessing prices will go back up sometime this spring.

    NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. drivers could enjoy a drop of up to 50 cents per gallon in gasoline prices by this spring as high fuel prices and the threat of a recession force them to conserve, experts said on Wednesday.

    U.S. gasoline supplies hit a near-14-year high of 227.5 million barrels last week, helped by falling demand for the fuel, the U.S. Energy Information Administration said on Wednesday.

    "Gasoline stocks are continuing to increase and it implies that people are probably cutting down on gasoline consumption -- a result of the weakening economy," said Phil Flynn, an analyst at Alaron Trading in Chicago.

    USA Average today is $2.97.

    50 cents less puts that at $2.47

    Still would have to come down DOUBLE that optimistic ESTIMATE to hit $2.00 a gallon.

    topped off my '79 5th Ave with 89 octane for $3.059 per gallon. Fuel mileage had even improved...almost up to 13 mpg now, in roughly a 2:1 mix of highway/city driving. Hey, if that sounds bad, I think the previous tank only got me about 8 mpg in mostly local, VERY short-trip driving. Such as trips so short that the temp gauge barely has a chance to register!

    For the first time since November, I have tanked up for under $100 - just $96.66 today for 29.85 gallons of diesel :D

    We did have many stations at $2.85 and $2.79 due to the lowering in demand, high inventories, and lower oil prices. But to be sure everyone wouldn't have to drive around checking for lower prices since there was a heavy snow forecast, they all raised their price to $3.09

    I thought the oil prices went down.

    Same thing happened in south central PA. Gas prices were $285 - $2.89 when I left town on Sunday. Came back yesterday and prices were $2.95-$2.99.

    I guess Venezuela refusing to sell oil to Exxon-mobil may have had something to do with the rise. Of course, i gave up trying to figure out how oil and gas prices are determined. Pretty much with fluctuations like this it confirms my suspicion that supply and demand have nothing to do with pricing since just recently they announced large surplus and lower demand for heating oil.

    In spite of a story in the morning paper saying "Spike in gasoline prices not seen in Idaho" gas went up another three cents overnight.

    $3.09 Reg
    $3.21 MidGrade
    $3.33 Premium
    $3.59 Diesel

    Gas was $2.99 at the majors just a couple of weeks ago.

    Since I last reported, gas is now $3.15 - $3.19 in SouthCentral PA.

    I stopped off at the local Shell station to fill up my '85 Silverado. And as luck would have it, I forgot my credit card! So I just bought 10 bucks worth, cash. At $3.299 per gallon for hi-test (it tends to clatter on 87, and 93 seems to yield slightly better economy/driveability than 89), that came out to about 3.03 gallons. Barely enough to make the fuel needle rise. :sick:

    Fuel jumped to $3.239 for 87 octane on Monday, before the $100 and $101 oil barrel price. I'm thinking it had to do with the ExxonMobil / Chavez thing. Funny thing is the prices jumped at stations like Meijer, Jewels and the Speedways while the Shells, Mobils and Citgos stayed in the $3.099 ~ $3.139 range until yesterday. These stations are now in the $3.159 ~ $3.209 range. The day before the spike petrol prices were at the $2.999 ~ $3.039 range.

    The highest I've seen is Gas City at $3.299 with E85 at $2.799.

    87 octane - $3.399 gal.
    Diesel - $3.899 gal.

    I made an 9-state swing through the South over the past week. Prices for 87 varied from about $2.72 in SC a week ago to $3.15 or so today in VA, with most around $3, give or take a few pennies. Back home in central VA, the going price for 87 is $3.04-$3.06, with the no-name stuff at the car wash for $2.99

    I don't see Congress rushing to save the American public from high gas prices like they are with the mortgage foreclosures. That's about 25% increase in a year....and summer is just around the corner.

    I did it about 3 1/2 years ago, shortening my commute from about 14 miles each way to about 3.5. Gas prices had nothing to do with it though. It was just time to move out of a condo and into a house.

    I tried to talk them into letting me telecommute 1 or 2 days per week, since I'm so close to work. My rationale was that just about all of my work is done on a computer anyway, and in the event that they really, REALLY needed me in the office, I could be there in 10 minutes. Unfortunately, they didn't go for it.

    Kind of a shame, because instead of sitting in this office with my annoying co-workers, I could be sitting at home watching "The Beverly Hillbillies" for the same pay. And being about as productive. :shades:

    Went by the Gasoline/Diesel station this morning.
    Diesel - $3.999.
    87 octane gasoline - $3.399.

    here for 87 octane are:

    No-name, i.e. Jewel, Meijers: down to $3.07 ~ $3.12 from $3.20 on Monday
    Mobil: holding steady at $3.11, even held at this price despite Tuesday's 8 cent jump - have used them the last two fill-ups as their price has recently been lagging everyone else's jumps - weird
    Shell/BP: jump to $3.19
    Speedway: depending on the day and time $3.19 / $3.25
    Gas City: $3.29 (E85 is $2.79)

    Those in DC can't help us as it's more important to figure out who did 'roids, who lied about taking them, who administered them and who forgot they took them. You know, real issues that effect real people... :sick:

    I didn't take time to fill this morning on the way to the hill and it cost me. $3.09 this morning, but I paid $3.15 for unleaded. It's up to $3.19 at Chevron. I should have ridden the fumes (heck, my low fuel light wasn't even on) over to the grocery gas and paid $3.09 but I didn't think I was heading that way. Then an errand called and I drove right by it. :sick:

    So...

    $3.15 reg
    $3.27 mid
    $3.37 premium

    You're lucky, except for diesel, which seems to be about $3.50 everywhere, based on my recent 9-state road trip thorough the Southeast.

    Locally (central VA), the $3 barrier has officially been broken, with 87 going for a miminum of $3.03. I paid a record-for-me $3.07 in Gainesville, VA for 87 yesterday evening. In fact this fill and an earlier one for my other Camry amounted to $50 each -- for a total of $100 in gas in a single day. That has to be a new record too.

    at the usual Meijers was $3.069 for 87 octane with 89 and 93 at $3.169 & $3.269.

    Other places by home (Mobil, Shell, Jewels) were 3 cents higher for all grades

    By work these same stations were:
    $3.179 for 87
    $3.299 for 89
    $3.439 for 93

    I'm expecting these to rise since crude is trading at $105/barrel, maybe closing higher.

    I filled up at Shell and paid $3.42 per gallon. That station is now at $3.45. Costco was still at $3.37. With my Shell card that someone here turned me onto, I get 5% off of my gas purchases. So I paid $3.24 per gallon. I like it. The traffic is still horrible, no let up or slowing. I am down to a couple trips a week into town. That should get me to under 3000 miles per year.

    I feel it is my bounden duty to bring a little cheer to the good guys and gals on Edmunds, so here goes..............

    Fuel prices here in Lincoln, U.K. today are :

    Unleaded Gasoline : $8.05 per US Gallon equiv

    ULSD : $8.40 per USG equiv

    LNG : $4.07 per USG equiv

    Of course, fuel is more expensive on Motorways, (captive audience), and I believe ULSD is around $10.07 per USG equiv in some places.

    Around 62% of those numbers is tax of one sort or another, (not sure about LNG). There, feeling more cheerful now ? ;)

    Ha, with the fuel prices, endless big brother cameras on every roadway, congestion charges, ridiculous taxes, and coupled with other socio-demographic issues...I can't see how there hasn't been a revolt in Blighty.

    I know in Germany, gasoline is about $8/gal too...with the Euro hitting $1.54 US, that can't help either.

    Regular is 3.49 at the Chevron I patronize.

    Lowest 87 no-lead price here in Willcox, AZ, is $3.04 at the Mustang station. I seem to be heading to that station more and more lately, hummm, why might that be? :D

    OK, OK I give, $2 gas looks mighty bleak about now. Almost all stations I pass in San Diego suburbs are $3.50 plus. Diesel is at about $4 plus. I did see one ARCO selling the good ULSD for $3.85. Might be the right time to buy that used diesel truck or car.

    $3.259 for 87 octane at the usual Meijers (the same at the close-by Speedway, Sonic), with the higher grades 10 cents higher respectively

    The Gas City that sells E85: $3.399 for 87 octane; $2.899 for E85

    Didn't take notice of the Shells, BP prices but the Citgo near work is $3.239 for 87.

    Guess that daylight-saving-time summer-driving-season price jack-up kicked in... :sick:

    This is the earliest possible date for Easter. So that could have a bearing on the prices going up to get all those college kids driving to Florida for Spring Break.. :D
