Obviously they aren't ALL like that, but for the most part the biggest mooches we deal with are GMS or GM supplier customers.
We have let many walk because we wouldn't sweeten the deal.
I usually am the dreaded 3rd wheel on most
deals....But I keep my mouth shut and get
the GM paperwork from mom or uncle and
make sure the dealer know they have the OLD
GM card to get max.$$$ off. I also have the heads up from Gm familysavings.com for any
special rebates,GMAC deals etc.....
AND I get my 50 bird dog fee too!
Most are clean deals tho...the 7-8 yo trade
they have usually goes to one of the kids !
Isell: my cousin just bought a used buick
from your store. Ernie in the parts dept.
knows them and I don't know who he steered
them too.....maybe you!
BTW: On my above post i didn't mean to infere
the playing dumb on the DOC fees to the sales
folks on these threads...Just a couple of
salespeople at local dealers...........geo
I got numbers anywhere from $2900 to $5900
from 3 dealers when I traded my 96 Caddy
for a 2002 Caddy ! Same dealer gave my
dad $6000 trade on his 99 truck when he
bought his 02 truck when another dealer
offered him $3900 ! It pays to shop !
BTW: I am not one to waste the salesguys
time either. No Saturday deals. I point
to the car or truck I want and say appraise
my trade ! And I don't play one dealer against
the other. Highest trade gets my business.
And I don't test drive the new one untill
just before i sign my name !
of YOU ! Just some GM employee customers
don't know or understand that the GM plans,
GM card points etc. have changed ! Therefor
confusion and you got the grinder !
Hey I thought you sold hondas or toyotas ?
Made a change huh? Good luck and have a
great day!.......geo
PS I cut the dweeb loose. Dude, Quadrasteer costs about 3.5K invoice. I can't do a darned thing about THAT
My whole point of the post was that GM seems to be getting much less generous with it's employees.
By the way, would you mind explaining to the less well informed what is meant by ON vs AT invoice. Are you suggesting that the GMS price is below the invoice price. The GMS price used to be 3 or 4 percent below invoice price. However in the last year or so the GMS discount is a more mysterious number that depends on alot more factors like the model and trim level.
For me, the discount that I could get is much larger from the GM credit card than from the employee discount. So for me the driver of if I purchase another GM car will be in the deal that everyone else gets minus my GM credit card points.
I am aware that the employee and credit card credits won't be separate until next summer.
So the fact that you got 5 percent off of invoice is but one deal. Other models and trim levels may be different.
Ed
They USED to do the % off base price of
vehicle. THen a certain % off options.
They did that when I bought my 96 & 97.
Now its a straight up price !....geo
BTW: Some of the dealers we shopped this
year BLACKED out the dealer invoice price
on the pricing sheet ! Some didn't. GMS
employee price was always LESS than invoice.
SUpplier deal was a bit over invioce.
The above discount has been inferred - Maybe i'm full of beans. Set me straight if i'm wrong
Specifically, I'm talking about Saturns. I work for a GM supplier, and am thinking of a Saturn L300 as my next car. When I went to the dealer, they gave me a "ballpark" number (I wasn't ready to do the deal then; was just there for information).
Would I be correct to state that when I'm ready to pull the trigger, they will show me an invoice with the GMS price on it?
www.gmfamilysavings.com
prices.
This site WILL NOT show GM supplier prices
tho.
MIKE: Mr.dealer will show you the GM supplier
price on invoice.
Remember:
GMS means in dealer stock on lot.
GMO means a ordered vehicle from GM.
NO price difference anymore !
GM Supplier is a supplier deal entirely
different than GMO/GMS.
Confused yet ?
But, what you are saying is that there is no price difference if I get a car from dealer stock OR custom order a vehicle? Not sure that I can wait 6-8 weeks for something custom -- I'll take my chances with dealer inventory.
ordered price for employee or supplier.
Just find the car you want. Go to dealer
tell them that you qualify for GM supplier
discount and they will ( in most dealers)
whip out the dealer sheet(invoice) with
the GM supplier price. Most will be more
than happy if you are a serious buyer !
Also ask if they waive adv. fees and DOC
on GM supplier deals like they do on GM
employee/family deals.
The form 1753 is simular to the form GM
gives to employee/family buyers to confirm
you get the special price.
You won"t need it untill you sit down to
seal the deal tho !..good luck and any more
questions just post.......geo
Most likely they didn't give you an exact number because they don't know the price until you pick one -- thus the ballpark. In my short time selling Chevros, I noticed that a same trim level car can have up to 4k variance in price.
Also, with the Saturn L-series, the options are pretty limited. I outlined what I was looking for, option-wise, and they gave me what I was looking for (I think they said something like MSRP was $23,400, the supplier price would be around $22,000).
The problem with Saturns is that the invoice prices are not to be found ... edmunds, carpoint, intellichoice ... none of these sites show the invoice prices on Saturns.
Thanks to all for the feedback. I'll keep folks posted on what I end up doing.
GO check out a new Buick Century. Same
car more goodies. Prob. with the rebate
supplier deal....$15k . I don,t know
the price on the Saturn seem "funny".
BUT the deals on all GM cars are different !
A couple of years back Saturn and Saab were
excluded from the GM deals.
Very pleasant experience overall, and got the 0% financing for 60 months. Nothing like free money!
Am hoping to pick up the car later in the week; the dealer needed a day or two to install the leather, as well as to tint the windows and apply the clear bra that I ordered.
or DOC with the GM supplier deal ?
Enjoy you new car!................geo
I am not sure about GM supplier deal.
Set me straight.....Thanks........geo
Thanks,

Between the drought this summer and the ice storm last week, I'm looking forward to having the truck to help re-build my landscape. I've probably lost a quarter of my shrubs and trees. I've been running the chain saw a bunch here lately. We just got our power back after 5 days of cold but I digress.

There is no dealer cash on Silverados currently, either.

Now, GM Supplier. . . Maybe you could do a hair better. . . But I wouldn't count on it.
Plus, GMS buyers aren't charged doc fees. Consider your total OTD.
Supplier is usually over invoice, so yes, you can sometimes do better. You aren't allowed to be charged any doc. fees or mop-n-glo, so the hassle might not be worth it.

P.S. As a side note since you mentioned that you are interested in the GM Supplier Program, all GM vehicles sold through their supplier or employee purchase programs during this volume bonus promotion qualify for a flat $250 per unit.
Typically, rates drop as the model year winds down, but these days who knows. We've got 0% on 2003's now so I don't what they'll do to make it more attractive.
Was I taken? Not that I'd be upset, just want to know (it would mean about $5 per month on my payment).
Of course, our doc fee is $50 in Texas, by law, so when people get all huffy about it, we're kinda confused. $300 I could see, but not fifty bucks.
