Thats weird...My local SAAB dealer in Syracuse NY sez " COME ON DOWN" with that coupon! I called them. They even asked what my sis is doing ! Does she want a Saab or Volvo? But her jury is still out. Like I said that dealer near you must not want to sell you a car! My bud closed his deal Mon. at the Chevy dealer with the coupon deal...... Happy, Happy.......geo
I will say this much for the great person that I am dealing with at GM, he must be new. When I had spoken to him last week and he said he was going look further into this issue and call me back I had never expected to hear from him again...boy do I owe him an apology. Here he left me a message Monday detailing what he had done regarding this issue. He had spoken to his manager (GMINTHEDRIVEWAY department). His boss told him that "All of GM" is involved which includes SAAB. He was told to contact GM headquarters regarding this because there is no notification that SAAB had pulled out. So as he put it he will get back to me because this is unacceptable for SAAB or any other GM divisions to treat a perspective customer. Once again the saga continues.
I am eligibile to take advantage of the GM supp. discount. The sales price for SAABs under this program "seems" to be about the same as invoice price. OK. Now on the GM supp. website the "discount" for 3500 (on a 9-3) has a notation that says it "represents factory to dealer cash offer which may be passed on.."
Is not this the same thing as the "marketing support" cash listed on edmunds? And if so, then how is this any type of deal? It seems like I would get 3500 off either way. NOt really a deal for GM suppl.
I might be able to get ya one of those "GM in the driveway" coupons. I ordered 2 more but haven't recieved them yet. Will put ya on my list and post here when they come!................geo
You get the GM employee price plus 4%. Minus any mfr. rebate. Yea, its the same as supplier price. Saab is sorta screwy on this deal. Read back a few posts.....
My "cousin" used the coupon and just got a new VIBE.
I sent a coupon to a bud over at GM-Forums. He got a new 03 Chevy crew cab 4x4. He got the $4000 rebate along with his GM card points taken off the price also. He had NO problems.......geo
The best thing neither had to pay adv. fees or DOC fees either. Thats also a chunk of $$$$
So how is it any different from NOT being a GM supp. (just a regular shopper)?
I am confident that, as a regular joe, I could go to the SAAB dealer and get a 9-3 for invoice less incentives...which is no different from getting it via gm supp.
So why would anyone go through the hassle of the GMS route?
Also, here is a direct quote from the GMS website:
"Each dealer invoice lists a GMS price. This is the price a GM employee pays for that vehicle. Your cost is the GMS price plus 4% (except Saab)....The General Motors supplier price for Saab vehicles is calculated as the dealer invoice price, less key market advertising, if applicable. Saab provides a GM program/supplier price list that you may request by calling Saab's Customer Assistance Center at 1-800-955-9007. You may also ask your sales representative to show you a copy of the dealer invoice. You can then compare your cost to the Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price to calculate your discount."
See like I said Saab is screwey on that GM deal. Every GM employee deal , supplier, or that coupon deal on any GM car except Saab has went like clockwork for me or others.
I see Rich a few posts back has had problems with his local Saab dealer over the test drive and coupon usage. Haven't heard from him so don't know what kind of deal he got or even if he bought one. Heck, My local Saab dealer bent over backwards to get my sister to buy one ! She had a 9-3 for almost a week to drive! Shes still undecided between a Saab or Volvo !...............geo
Whos soliciting ? Its a FREE coupon and I am not selling or trading anything for it. I do not work for a car dealer........... Heck, I have given away 4 of them here at Edmunds alone and 2 more at gm-trucks.com to any bro. that wants to get a DEAL on a new vehicle. You will note that I ask those interested to contact me by e-mail ?????????????.........geo
I just got the card in the mail yesterday that says I'm eligible for $1000 discount if I buy another GM vehicle from the same unit as my current vehicle or $750 if I choose from a different GM unit. Can I combine this offer with the supplier program?
Also, Pontiac-GMC are considered one unit, correct?
The sad SAAB story as you so eloquently put it does not continue since it is very obvious that your ability to grasp the obvious is extremely limited. So let me try to put it in very simple terms so you might be able to distinguish between sadness and happiness. I was able to use the certificate and I had purchased the exact car that I had wanted gee that sounds like the story actually ended on a HAPPY note.
I'm trying to find out what the GM employee price is on the 2004 Grand Prix GT1 and GT2 models. Where I work we get the GM supplier discount, which is a small % over the employee price. Anyone have any idea? I've searched the net but can't find the info. Thanks.
Thanks for the feedback! Did you get the GMS price right off the gm.com site (or pontiac.com)? If so, where? And is the GMS price the employee price or the supplier dicount price? Thanks for all the help!
The GMS prices were obtained on the GM employee website (GMFamilyFirst.com). Sorry This site is for GM employees only.
GMS stands for - GM employee out of stock. This means that you can get this price off of any dealers lot. There used to be a GMO program where you got even a bigger discount from ordering a car but that program has been done away with and now ordered cars get the same discount.
If I recall correctly, and I may be wrong here, the supplier discount is 4 percent higher than the employee price. So you can use this number to ballpark your price.
Options get a bigger discount than the car. It looks like options cost 86 percent of the list price for GMS. Your price will be 4 percent higher.
I pulled up one option (a radio) with an MSRP add of $100. This increased the GMS price of the car by $86. As I recall all of the options get the same discount from the sticker price.
Also, Since you aren't familiar with the program you might like to know: you also get any rebates/incentives/financing that is available to retail customers. So if there is a $2000 rebate (or whatever) then you get that too.
The dealer here did tell me that I could use any current rebate/other offers. But I think he is short changing me on the supplier discount price. Is it possible to actually build a car right on that site and get what the price should be (minus tax and fees of course)? If so, could I email you my dream car and have you put it together for me? I know this may be a lot to ask, but you've been so helpful you've got me spoiled! I appreciate anything you can do for me! Thanks!
But if you post (here on Edmunds) the car and options you want I'll look up the GMS price.
You can get a very good Idea of the price of your car using an 7 percent (11 - 4) discount on the base car and a 90 percent (14 - 4) discount on the options.
Also, be aware that just because you can configure a car in a certain manner on the website doesn't mean that the car has been built or ever will be built. Options are scheduled in the factory and sometimes not all combinations ever get built.
Options: Air bags, side rail roof (AY1) Exhaust tips, dual round, four 3" stainless (N16) Seat adjuster, power, lumbar, driver 4-way (AL9) Sound system, AM/FM w/ cassette and CD (U1Q) Sunroof (CF5) Spoiler, rear sport (D52) - I thought the GT2 came standard with a spoiler though, but this was an option at gmbuypower.com
Anything you can do with this is truly appreciated. Thanks for all your help!
(To bad there isn't a site like the gmfamilyfirst.com site for suppliers to login and do all this.)

What am I missing? Do I get 3500 off twice?
Read back a few posts.....

Yes.
Lighten up a little !
Hey, why did the host scrub MY post?

GT1 - $22395.00 MSRP, $19917.60 GMS
GT2 - $24295.00 MSRP
GTP - $26495.00 MSRP, $23546.10 GMS
Sorry the site wouldn't display the GT2 GMS price but you can ballpark it at about 89 percent of MSRP
As always any options are extra
for the 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix
GT2 $24295.00 MSRP, $21599.10 GMS

You are a wealth of information! Yes, I was told the supplier discount is 4% over GMS.
One last question if I could: would I pay full retail price for options (like a moonroof)? Or is there a discount on the options? Thanks again.
I pulled up one option (a radio) with an MSRP add of $100. This increased the GMS price of the car by $86. As I recall all of the options get the same discount from the sticker price.
