If you LOOK at the picture of the stuck Toyota, we do agree the Toyota is stuck, not moving, ready to be towed by a Ranger, you will SEE a tire to the passenger side, out of the mud. If you look at the Ranger picture on the bottom of page 2 you will SEE the same tire.
You blinded by your bias again?
Ever going to answer the questions you have been asked? What about the Toyota transmissions?

When the Ranger is depicted going through the same pit, there is ZERO water being splashed up, or moved out of the way..it looks ALOT drier, like it is different conditions or a different day. And that is sadly the truth.
Any novice photographer can pick those discrepencies out of that Redneck Road Rally.
The driver probably hit the hole too hard and sucked up some water, maybe choked/blew the engine. Maybe that's why his hood is up.
So spoog, I will take the pic to work tomorrow, run it on my jpg editor and see if I can get a closeup. But I see the Ranger cutting thru where a Toyota died. Looks like water back there to me.
Vince:
I don't have photos of my truck. I don't take photos of machines. Sorry.
Now women...thats a whole different story.
No one has answered my questions regarding Toyota transmissions.
spoog:
The Ranger in question went through the same place the Toyota did. The shot is from a greater distance. You accept as fact some pictures from a Tacoma site that have no text stating that the Tacoma was pulling out an F150, or visa/versa, yet do not accept these pictures. What gives?
I will check with the guy and see what stopped the Toyota. I am a bit curious too.
The Tacoma plant in Fremont is at least 30 years old. I also understand that it was first used to build Corolla's in a Chevy format, the newer Nova I believe. I would suspect that it was retooled to a degree for the Tacoma.
I was wrong on the Jersey Ford plant. The one I remember is in Metuchen.
So where is the Toyota 5 speed automatic? Drawing board maybe. . .?
The Tacoma was in a little pond, whereas the Ranger is just going through some slick mud. Open your eyes.
You can CLEARLY see that it is the same whole and the Ranger is plowing water. Also, the bushes by the Toy are the same as beside the Ranger.
You will see tonight, had to lighten the Ranger and Toy one to show better definition. But they are the same place.
The Ranger is dug in quite a bit in the rear grabbing what traction there is. I THINK the Ranger is lifted and at least 31" if not 33" tires. It is a pretty good close up crop of the existing picture.
I wonder what Happened to Jim27 and his Tacoma that failed while offroad and left him stranded. Hope he comes back to let us know what happened.

Vince my boy what was your point in bringing up the Hummer when i was comparing Ford and Toyota. Was that your way of avoiding the obvious? Yes it does look like the Hummer as do most vehicles in that class. As is my point. Does Ford offer something in this class? If so i would love to see it.
Also
"The HUMMER(American made no less) is the ultimate offroader, hands down."
Is this based on something or just your OPINION?
"lets see how a Land Cruiser stands up
to a Hummer, about the same price"
Again off the subject of my post, but i would love to see what a stock version of both could do. I'm not doubting the Hummer's ability, but lets also test it against a Ford, oh ya they don't have one...
Spoog what did you think of that 4 wheel steering? Awsome huh?

Guess which vehicle finished first? The Land Cruiser. AND YES THEY SAID IT WAS BETTER ON THE DUNES THAN THE HUMMER, AND IN MOST OTHER OFFROAD APPLICATIONS. The Jeep Wrangler finished second.
The Hummer was third. See, you couldn't drive the hummer past 55 MPH. IT got stuck in the sand, ect.
They called the Land Cruiser " The clear winner, the DO-ALL of offroaders. We could roll up the windows, turn on the AC and not feel a bump or hear a single bit of noise as this BRAWLER offroader, disguised with a tuxedo ( the LC's appearance), drove straight up heaping sand dunes the other vehicles had trouble with in 125 degree heat as its passengers rode in the cool, comfortable, eerily silent cabin. A magnificent machine".
I had to check it out in the diagrams though as I couldn't get the video to work.
Toyota makes the best car, truck, and SUV of any other company. Even though I am only a 8th grader, I am very smart for my age. I hold a 94 average overall in my school, but yet I still get picked on because I own a "[non-permissible content removed]-car". The Tundra is fully 100% made in America. The Ford is only about 60% made in America. Most of my friends own Fords, but all of them are failing their classes, or are very stupid. This tells me that everyone who owns a Ford is stupid. I am the only one who owns a Tundra in my school but yet I am smarter that all of my friends. I admit, the Tundra has some flaws, but overall the Tundra is the best truck in its class.
My Dad was once a Ford owner. He used to buy Rangers and F-150's and Windstars. But after 50,000 miles, they fell apart and not only that they lost half their value in 1 and a half years. You guys argue that you're Ford in the Newspaper, sells for $13,500. Its at that price because its value is worth a pile of dung.
I hope that my following arguments have cleared up any misunderstandings. Toyota RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You can see that the bushes to the right and behind of the tire are the same. Also, the Ranger picture clearly shows the water splashing out of the way.
Some would say the water "parted" once it was known a Ranger was coming. . .
The story is that the Toy did suck water and lunched the engine. The Ranger went thru right after the Toy was pulled out.
Toy man:
Glad you liked the Toyota's, however consider this.
The majority of my Ranger was American made, main component not American is the transmission. The Toyota is ASSEMBLED in the United States, not MADE. There is a difference.

Also, did anyone else see Leno last night? He went out into the street to ask Los Angelian's about their 4 wheel drives. Most had never had them off road other than parking lot bumps. One could not say what 4 wheel drive means. One guy got it cause its a cool car to dirve. . .
Well, speaks for itself I guess.
Also, anybody notice that the last two pro Toyota posters do not have verifiable email's?
Things that make you go Hmmmm.
So how come Land Cruisers, Tundras, Chevy's and my own elk stories(would have counted if it was in the back of a Ranger)?
Just things that make you go Hmmmm.
So to take up the comments of a poster a while ago, do we have to meet in Kansas to all 4 Wheel drive together(sorry, I don't do humidity real well anymore)? Do we have to check the weapons at the gate to where ever we go?
toyotaman4: Who is this, really? Your post sounds like some type of joke gone awry. Spoog? Hello?
Read the post real close and click on the screen name to view the persons stats. Looks obvious.
Well, that happens here sometime.
Sooo, no comments on the Ranger muddin?
Don't see a grocery store near by. . .
Looks like the guy was having fun but for the life of me I can never undersand why someone would put a perfectly good truck in that kind of mud. Course, some people see no fun in sliding down the hill backwards either. . .
The Ranger would be splashing up some serious water if there was as much water when the Toyota went through.
Tell your buddies over at the Redneck Rally homepage " Nice Try".
Although I will say this, the 89 Rangers seemed to be a bit better in the trail department than the newer ones.
NO one would be able to keep up at all. Just like 4wheeler said:
" The TRD tacoma handeld the rough stuff and washboard FLAWLESSLY...better than ANY VEHICLE WE HAVE EVER DRIVEN".......YeeeeeehaaaaaaawWWWW!
No THAT is saying alot! " BETTER THAN ANY VEHICLE WE HAVE EVER DRIVEN"!
Yeeeeeehawwww! Picnic here I come!
Again I like the Ranger, but with the same 'Educated' 4wd driver test two stock vehicles, you can't tell me that the Ranger will beat a Tacoma. No way! I'll never buy it till we see some sort of Technical proof. Not undocumented photo's, or friends of a friends stories.
Though.....Thanks for the pics it does brighten up this board. Do you have any of you ride battling the snow with the BFG's on?
Thanks in Advance

Likewise for White River National Forest. The access is being LIMITED. Read into that no Four Wheeling.
Sad day. . .
I saw the test spoog is talking about, the test consisted of 99% flat land, dunes, no articulation or climbing involved huh spoog! Once again you don't tell the WHOLE TRUTH.
And I notice all the TAcoma fans were pretty quite after CP laid on all the data from the NHSTA site, no comment from even spoog.
Does anyone have the link to the crash test data showing the Tacoma as the worst compact truck? I have a guy at another site claiming his Tacoma doesn't finish last at anything. Heck, this guy didn't even know what an open axle was until I explained it to him, LOL.
See you in the hills! Loving the snow this year in the Cascades.
Were you thinking of that?
Spoog, tell ya what I am gonna do. This weekend, gonna go to the mountains and think about you as I wheel. Illinois is a bit flat is it not?
Gonna think about you as I wheel. . .
wsn:
Well, I would show you some snow shots but there is not a lot of snow here in town. A bid too much of a challenge right now in the heavy mtns. but will keeep it in mind for the next snow. My wifes camera has about 4 shots left.
I guess the point in the pics was to show spoog they were the same area. The Toy, which was not a Tacoma, was more than likely shot with a flash and or close up, the Ranger from a distance.
I thought it was a great shot of the Ranger muddin. I would not take my Ranger there but more power to the guy!
Spoog, did I ask if it was flat in Illinois?!?
I had a 71 FORD (yes I actually owned a FORD)Mustang with a 302 engine, now I always assumed it was a 'BOSS 302' as it was on the head covers and the carb covers, and the intake & heads looked diferent than the regular 302 and of course the Holley carb and exaust. A 'MACH I' mustang with a 'BOSS 302' engine, now my Ford guy tells me one of his friends had a MACH I with the BOSS 302 in it which was from the factory.
So what I want to know is could the 'BOSS
302 engine' be special ordered in the 71-73'MACH I' mustang or was the last 'BOSS 302' in the 1970 Mustang and that was it, no more were made or carried by Ford after that......feel free to jump in with any data/stats, this is a true FORD enthusiast question, lets see if there are some real FORD truck men with some FORD history (the Mustang guys are stumped so far...)
After talking to a quite a few people about this issue, the predominant reasoning is that the Japanese do not have the natural resources in the area of iron ore and resort to using recycled metals that contain impurities.
My analysis is that Toyota engines and drive trains will run forever, but the bodies will not last nearly as long as an American made vehicle.
Ford Ranger:
Semi attractive looks, with a capable v-6 engine if it wasn't for a poor transmission. The transmission clunking appeared on two seperate trucks i test drove,i had to test drive two to make sure the one wasn't a lemon. Nice interior with a comfortable ride on the road. The interior seemed to be high quality but some bad placement of certain controls(primarly the radio). I also had a difficult time keeping the ranger to keep a consent 65mph on the highway. Overall: good truck with a poor dump truck transmission.
Toyota tacoma:
Very attractive looks(looks are subjective) great engine and a great transmission. But where is the ladder to climb into this thing, damn thats high, oh, maybe that is why they say it is good for off-roading. Nice interior with quality products, but noticably smaller then the ranger and frontier in the cabin. Considerably more of a harsher ride then the ranger and the frontier on the road, but a great deal easier to maintain speed on the highway. A lot of torque is great for starting, but a lot of horsepower is great for consent speed, and those extra 30 horses made a difference. Overall, great truck, maybe not for all who are looking for a smooth ride, a little bumpy going down the road. I wish i could have taken the thing off road to see what it could really do.
Nissan frontier: Good price tag for a truck that has a spacious interior, but a rather cheap and plastic feel dashboard, and a engine that seems to be overtaxed almost all the time. But of all the three, it had the best road manners,in terms of ride comfort, but the steering felt numb compared to the other two trucks. While some hate the looks of the frontier, i rather enjoyed them. Overall, the frontier is a truck nissan is trying to sell by offering a lot of discounts, but needs more horses under the hood, i felt a little nervous when merging with traffic. More horses, would have meant my business.
Winner, toyota. I have had my 2000 toyota tacoma 4x4 v-6 for two days now and i love it. I can't wait to take the thing off road in the middle of nowhere, pull the mountain bike from the bed of the truck and enjoy the day. For v-6 tacoma owners out there, do you put regular or preminum gas in your tacoma? I would appreciate any comments
I have seen the side impact crash test posted here and the results speak for themselves. How much better would the Tacoma 4x4 regular cab fair in that side impact? Is the Tacoma 4x4 regular cab
in the same weight class as the Tacoma 2wd truck tested? Is my Tacoma 4x4 extended cab in the
same class as the Tacoma 2wd regular cab? The Tacoma did not fail all the crash tests as some
like to think. In the 40 mph frontal offset crash performed better than the Ranger.

Here is comparison between the Tacoma and the Ranger. Any comments about the differences
between the two trucks ?
