Good luck on this one now.

#8 Tacoma
#9 Frontier

Good luck on this one now!
I've had most of the problems as other Silverado owners, but mine seems to be ok now, at 23,000mi. Still well worth the money - and a huge step up from my '89 Nissan 2wd ext cab!
Enjoy your trucks ! Don't forget to check out truckautoaccessories.com to rid yourself of the autoheadlamp blues.
Cheers
Those yuppies are EVIL. You have to keep an eye on them. They are always spreading rumors, blowing smoke, they don't know any facts, they always are chasing the latest fad. I'll bet a yuppie might be dating your sister (or your mother).
Its a good thing that neither of us know any yuppies. They are EVIL. Everyone knows that yuppies don't buy Chevies. Only hicks like you buy chevies. I hear that Chevy dealers make Chevy buyers take a test, and if they have better than a second grade education - they refuse to sell them the truck!
I think that all yuppies should be rounded up and put into concentration camps. Thats where those no-goods belong. Or maybe they should be sold into slavery. It would serve them right. Those yuppies are EVIL.
Its a shame that yuppies designed the Chevy. They should fire them all and let hicks design them. It would be a much better truck.
Wait a minute! You blow smoke all the time! You twist the facts! You don't know the facts! You chase the latest fad! Hicksrme, you are a yuppie! (A yuppie with low self-esteem). Better stop smoking that bottom leaf - its bad for you.
Trend. They did a comparison of "full size"
pickups. They rated the biggest, baddest Chevy
Silverado 1500 with the 5.3 L V8 and the 4.1 gears (which by the way is only rated to tow 8000lbs).
They also rated the biggest F150 with the 5.4L V8
and the Dodge 1500 with 5.9L against the Tundra
Access Cab V8.
You would think that this would be a mismatch.
The Silverado does have that barcolounger rear
seat. The Big3 engines are much bigger.
Here is the conclusion of the Motor Trend article:
"And the winner is... Which to Pick? In terms of
overall performance and sophistication - on road
and off - we have to say Tundra."
This seems pretty unambiguous doesn't it? They
made no mention of the Tundra being anything other
than full size. You can call the Tundra
"mid-size" if you want. The fact is: your
"full-size" pickups have just been beat.
Notice: This is not a Toyota bash. I love Toyota products, but come on, Motor Trend's opinion is almost worthless. I do put some stock in their numbers, i.e. performance numbers, but I can make up my own mind as to which car truck or whatever I think is the best.
There is good information to be gained from reading these publications as long as you can see through the flaws.
now? Folks be quotin this and that from them
magazines but that truth be them tundras be from
25% too 32% smaller than them big3 ones. What part of that 1/4 too 1/3 smaller part aint ya folks gettin? Them that work em, be needin a "full size" one, the yuppie, who be usin em too "haul" grocerys and such has no worry on this. Good luck on this one now!
You're seeing things they way YOU want to see them. Those are the facts? Dont' know about the rest of you, but I saw an magazine's opinion....
Who's in denial?
The Tundra does not cost more than the Silverado. Read the article. The Silverado slightly out-accelerates and out-tows the Tundra, but it needed 4.1 gears to do it. The Tundra out-brakes the Silverado.
Quad - OOOH! a pre-yuppie! That's a good one. It seems that you and hicksrme spend a lot of time in Tundra only topics bashing Tundras. I have never seen a Tundra owner post a bash in a Silverado only topic. Who has the envy?
The Tundra VS Silverado (with 4.1) was much closer when you consider the larger tires (revs per mile) and lower rear end the Silverado has a little over 1% advantage. If the Silverado has the 3.73 rear end it would be at an 8% disadvantage to the Tundra. And this does not even take the differences of tranny gearing into account.
Bamma - bottom line is the 4.1 gears and 265 75 tires on the Silverado is a better (closer) comparison to the Tundra (with 3.91 gears and 265 70 tires) than the 3.73 rear end. I know you have trouble with math so you will just have to trust me on this. Bigger tires effectively raise your final drive ratio.
About this new Yamaha...sounds like a rocket. They already had Grizzly, 600 cc, but sounds low tech compared to Raptor. You are the first I've heard of it. Is this a 4x4, or 2wd rocket ship? Automatic, or manual shifter? Sounds neat.
I get my most enjoyable entertainment from a DR350 off road motorcycle. I try to get my wife to follow me down easy trails with a cooler strapped to the rack, but she won't do it....
This new Yamaha Raptor is a high performance machine. It has a 660cc liquid cooled 5 valve four stroke engine. Reverse and electric start. 2 wheel drive. Manual clutch 5 speed. Over 9 inches of front suspension travel and near 9 in the back. It's gonna be the machine to beat in my opinion. Should sneak by the Bombardier DS650, and take the Honda 400EX easily in a drag race.
You seem to think that you are some sort of math wiz. I have a problem for you: The following statement is incorrect - "25% too 32% smaller than them big3 ones."
How is it incorrect? What is the correct answer?
Turning radius I quoted was from Motor Trend - If they are incorrect then my post was wrong. I will admit the first few days driving the Silverado it was a little hard to maneuver, I was use to driving a compact truck. I think I would feel the same way about any new car/truck the first few days of driving, you know - getting to know how close you are to the car next to you on a tight road. Now it seems normal - and I have no problem fitting into tight parking places. I see little old ladies driving F-250 Superduties and they don't seem to have any problem - so If a Full size truck is too hard for you to handle then stay with the midsize Tundra -
I got these facts from the May '00 issue of Motor
Trend. They did a comparison of "full size"
pickups. They rated the biggest, baddest Chevy
Silverado 1500 with the 5.3 L V8 and the 4.1
gears(which by the way is only rated to tow 8000lbs).

Access Cab V8.

"And the winner is... Which to Pick? In terms of

1. Do you (not Motor Trend or some Toyota hater), but you consider the T-100 to be full size?
2. How much larger is the Tundra than the T-100?
3.What is the EPA class size listed for the Tundra? What about the Silverado? (hint look in the Motor Trend mag you have been quoting from it will tell you.
4. Also from the Motor Trend mag - which truck was described as -"____ offers reasonable leg room, but more limited head room, and its bolt upright rear seat cushion reminds us of a park bench"
These questions will be hard for you because they involve some math skills and also some judgement but do the best you can. Don't feel embarrassed about your answers because most of the other readers on Edmunds know the correct answers already, I just want to find out what you know.
Hint- Look up T-100 specs - compare to Tundra specs - look at wheel base, leg room, hip room, bed size.
1. What does the T100 have to do with the price of tea in China? Reminder: this topic is "Tundra vs Silverado"
2. See above.
3. According to you and the EPA the Silverado is the ONLY "full size" 1/2 ton pickup. You claim that Tundra but Ford F150 and Dodge Ram 1500 aren't "full size" . I know this to be absurd. You should also. Motor Trend posted the EPA size class - nothing more.
4. The Silverado does have a larger rear seat. I have never questioned that. There are other considerations. If you bought a house the way you buy trucks, you would be living in a barn and bashing all homeowners because their houses are smaller than your barn.
"And the winner is... Which to Pick? In terms of overall performance and sophistication - on road and off - we have to say Tundra." May '00 Motor Trend.
