Does anyone know how the later model G35 sedans hold their resale value?
  • wibblewibble Member Posts: 569
    They have some of the highest lease residuals in the business, right up there alongside BMW and M-B. That's a pretty good indication that their value is holding. Also have a look at;

According to the NissanNews.com, the 2005 infiniti with automatic tran will be available at the bgeinning in October 2004, and the manual tran will go on sale in Dec 2004. I have been waiting for the 2005 G35x. Do you guys think it will come out in September with automatic tran?
Does anybody have any information about it.
    Thank you guys...

The changes are negligable, insignificant, and deal breaking. Looking at the photo with fresh eyes, and ignoring how bad it used to be, it still looks like the interior of a Civic or escort. I don't want to look at that !@%#%& everyday as i drive to work or head for the curves. I've waited for nothing! I feel like charlie brown on Halloween.

In what way? There is now real aluminium trim, revised centre console, revised gauges and an electric tilt, telescope steering wheel. No-one outside of the factory in Japan and Infiniti HQ in Gardena can comment on the quality of the 2005 interior because no-one has sat in it yet. Waith until you test drive one before passing such judgement.

I agree...wait until you get to experience the interior first-hand.

Hi. I'm a noob here and am thinking about the G35. I like the looks of Sedan more than the Coupe, but the 2004 Sedan doesn't have a fold down rear seat (according to an Infiniti salesman).

Does anyone know if the 2005 G35 Sedan has a fold down seat? When are the 2005's expected?

    Thanks and regards,

    Dan.
  • wibblewibble Member Posts: 569
There's no mention of a fold down rear seat in the 2005 product specs. The 2005s are reportedly due last August / early September.

I too find very little to harp about with the 2005 interior. All they did was change a few things, but left it pretty much as is. I think the changes most wanted (me too) was the removal of the seat controls from the seat and onto the left-side of the seat at the bottom like everyone else has, along with the radio controls being moved to the proper side from this market. Those two changes with the new materials would have done it for me personally. To be nit picky I'd say that upper dash needs to get rid of the layered look also, one nice solid piece would do the trick. Oh well. These things don't require a sit down because they were either functional details or things that can clearly be seen in the pics. Material quality is the only thing that needs to be judged by sitting in the car, the overall design still reeks of a quicky (cheap) U.S. market conversion with an overal lack of inspiration compared to Acura or Audi at the same price level.

what is the "wrong side". For me the controls are perfectly located for MM driving. It's as if the engineer figured I'd be buying it and it would be in MM quite a bit. He got it right. The right side to you is not the right side to some of us very happy owners. If you aren't into the G interior then audi has the best but thier drivetrains are crud and they are slow. Compromise abounds!
  • sweetc230sweetc230 Member Posts: 33
I've got to agree with Chris. I would much rather have an "ok" or "subpar" interior and the driving experience and beautiful exterior of my G coupe than the trade off of a great interior and a boring exterior and slow, dull driving characteristics.

    Preach on. . . . .
  • chrisbothchrisboth Member Posts: 493
I must say that some G interiors seem blander than others. If you want the car but can't stomach the graphite interior - take a look at the Willow leather with premium package. You have to get the premium pakcage and cant get the X but you can't always get what you want....or we'd have BMW and Nissan work on drivetrains together and have Merc and Audi do the interiors. EVery car is a compromise - what is important to you. IF lux interior and performance are requiered the ENTRY lux class rarely offers both. Try on a 5 series or a a-6 or Jag 2 type ...or new M45!
  • lexusguylexusguy Member Posts: 6,419
I've driven the current G and wasnt impressed with the interior, but the driving is superb. Personally I think the '05 looks much better, its better than the IS, at least as good as the S60 T5, better than Saab, the current C320, and as good as the 3 series with aluminum trim. A4 3.0 no, but nothing else in the class stands up to the A4 either.
  • smithdrgssmithdrgs Member Posts: 22
your right, i'll wait and look at in person. hopefully black will look much better with the aluminum. tan is so boring. after looking at the photos a second time, i'll upgrade it from a escort to a camry.
the top dash and vents still looks blah, as does the steering wheel. the control console is flat and unimaginative. i would have liked more flare. if performance is all you care about then why not go out and buy a go-cart.
still feeling like charlie brown. everyone else is getting candy. and all i got was a rock.
  • wibblewibble Member Posts: 569
Remember there is a new gray interior for 2005 as well as willow and grpahite.
  • merc1merc1 Member Posts: 6,081
What is "MM" driving? I agree about the compromise of any car, but the details on the G35 kept it from being perfect in my opinion. Audi's lack of grunt in say the A4 3.0 is a much harder thing for them to fix, whereas Infiniti could have made a good car perfect for me if they'd just made those changes. The right side means the controls should be on the left side of the radio so the person driving can operate it not on the right facing the passengers. Little thing I know, but it iritates the hell out of me because it screams cheapness to me. Actually I can't stand the whole design, but thats me.

Wow!! It's an interior. . .the radio plays tunes, the clock keeps the time, the speedo works, the tack is large enough, the a/c blows cold/hot. I have never heard such senseless whining about the interior of a car. This is not a house. A sweet ride is about the drivetrain, engine, handling, acceleration, etc. Now if you have a problem with the seats (comfort, ability to hold you in place, support, etc.) I can understand that gripe. And I could even understand if there were bizarre shapes, colors or tacky patterns, but the Infiniti's interior is fine.

Honestly, no offense, I guess some of you guys really put a lot of stock in the interior design, I'm just someone who doesn't. . .
    Now exterior design, that another matter. . . . . .:)

I think the seat controls are fine where they are. Didn't really bother me at all. Personally, I really don't like how Mercedes puts their seat controls on the door in the shape of a seat. Your hand stays stationary while your body moves.

The temp knob and volume knob on the passenger side are obviously a cost cutting measure.

But if you think about it, the volume/power knob on the passenger side is absolutely no detriment functionally. Why? Because the volume/power controls are on the steering wheel.
  • pajackpajack Member Posts: 32
Wow. Jrok 65 I absolutely agree with you....The interior is fine.
    Getting the G35x on 13th August.......super....
  • merc1merc1 Member Posts: 6,081
Hey you have your opinion and I have mine. I felt the interior kept the car from being perfection.

    You like it I don't.

I just don't like seeing right side driver controls for the left side driver U.S. market.

I drive a lot of different cars and I like the interiors in all of them to be standardized. I don't want to ahve to adjust to the unique interior of one car and then have problems in another car.

When I'm on the freeway, I want to keep my eye son the road and let my hand find the controls I need without having to look.

As a proud G35 owner, I am somewhat disappointed after seeing pics of the 05 G35 interior. Although nissan hasn't redisgned the center console and moved some misplaced controls, the quality of materials may have actually improved. You can't tell until you actually sit in the car.

So what is wrong with using the steering wheel controls.
  • jaydolljaydoll Member Posts: 120
    lexusguy,

you hit the nail on the head. Having owned an 02 A4 3.0 quatro loaded with the ming blue with the beighe interior, there if there is a finer interioron any car, I want to see it. That being said, the reason I am buying the g coupe is for the ride. Even with the 6 speed, my 3.0 ran out of pull at 4500 rpm. It handled great and looked great but is not in the same sports car league as the g coupe. IMHO, the A$ is a great 4 door fun sport like sedan.

I've found this forum very informative, and it has helped me decide to purchase a 2005 G35x (AWD version), rather than buying an end-of-year '04 model. The Infiniti dealer in Lisle advised that with the P01 and P02 Premium Packages included, they expect the '05 G35x Sedan to come in around $37K (taxes excluded). If you are in love with the Navigation package, however, that will cost you another $2K.
  • pajackpajack Member Posts: 32
Hi Tirific. I am going to buy a 2005 G35x too. Could you give me some info about when it will come out and what will be included in Po1 and Po2 premium package. Is there any 05 G35x website out there.
    Thanks alot.
  • wibblewibble Member Posts: 569
    The only premium package available for the 2005 G35x is P03. On the plus side it includes all of P01 and P02. The premium package contents for 2005 are as follows;

    PO1 (6MT Only)
DUAL SLIDING GLASS SUNROOF WITH ONE-TOUCH OPEN/CLOSE FEATURE, DUAL ZONE AIR CONDITIONING, DRIVER'S SEAT MEMORY WITH AUTOMATIC ENTRY/EXIT SYSTEM, AUTOMATIC ON/OFF HEADLIGHTS, HOMELINK UNIVERSAL TRANSCEIVER, AUTOMATIC ANTI-GLARE REARVIEW MIRROR, ONE-TOUCH UP/DOWN ON ALL WINDOWS, 222 WATT BOSE STEREO WITH 7-SPEAKERS, MANUALLY RECLINING REAR SEATS, POWER TILT AND TELESCOPIC STEERING WHEEL.

    P02 (RWD Auto)
CONTAINS CONTENTS OF P01 PLUS: INTELLIGENT KEY AND REAR AIR CONDITIONING VENTS.

    P03 (AWD)
CONTAINS CONTENTS OF P02 PLUS: FULL SIZE SPARE WHEEL.

Sorry for the capitals. It's a cut and paste from the 2005 Infiniti product guide.

Wibble. Thanks for your info. It's kind of same as the 2004 g35x model. I am getting the 2004 g35x on 13th...I can't wait to get in the car!!!!!!!!!

I think the ES330 is in the same league in terms of interior quality as the A4 in that size and price class, but obviously very different cars for very different drivers. Just curious, a friend is cross shopping an A4 3.0 with the S60, curious if you had any thoughts? How has your A4 been?
  • jaydolljaydoll Member Posts: 120
    Lexusguy,

I got rid of the A4 last year. Loved it yet hated it. Loved the interior fit and finish. Best I've ever seen. Every bell and whistle you could think of. 4 reasons why I got rid of it.

    1. Never could get comfortable in the seat, very hard flat seat bottom.

    2. How ironic that I couldn't drive a car with quatro in the snow in the winter (had the sport package) without spending a grand on a tire package.

    3. Local dealer in CT was about as incompetent as you could be with minor issues. Totally afraid of how they would handle anything major.

4.- 3.0 with the 6 speed ran out of pull at 4500 rpm.

Other than the above, I loved it.

    Tomorrow I pick up my G35 6MT.
  • lexusguylexusguy Member Posts: 6,419
Interesting. One thing about the S60, simply spectacularly fantastic Volvo seats. The mags say you'll want to rip them out of the car and put them in your living room, and I agree with that. Interior doesnt live up to the A4 though. I like the G35 a lot, but the interior of the current car imo is not enough for the money. Its much better than the Maxima, which is frankly the lowest Nissan has hit, but still not good enough.
  • g35catg35cat Member Posts: 2
Sounds to me like someone who can't afford one. It's beautiful, and it's really a sport car, too. The 2005 price tag takes this car to a whole new level.
  • jaydolljaydoll Member Posts: 120
    LG,

Hope you don't mind the abbriviation. Here is my take on the the G35 interior- The A4 (any Audi I have been in for that matter) is the gold standard. That being said, I wouldn't call the G35 cheap looking but it definitely is not in the same league as the Audi. In fact, I think the 04 Acura TL interior has the G interior beat by mile. So here is how I make sense of it all. Want a world class 4 door sedan that is a blast to drive looks great outside and inside and, has the best sound system ever put in a car, that's the 04 Acura TL/(we own one). Want a four door that is AWD, I would go with the G35x sedan. It's a lot less than a Audi A6 to buy and maintain/much bigger and more comfortable than an A4(owned one).

Want a car that is just an all out a blast to drive (except in snow)that has one of the most classy body styles on the road (IMHO), then the G35 coupe is the ticket (just got one). The G is so much fun to drive that you forget about the ho-hum interior.

Last but not least, I have corresponded with LG before on this and other forums and never found him to be insulting or disrespectful of anyones opinion. That being said LG, I would hope that you pay no attention to g35cat's comment

Has anyone seen the new design for the back view? I have seen some front view and side view which did not change a lot.

Hey, I read somewhere there was gonna be a wagon G35 in 2005! And I saw some pics of it and it's really ugly. Its but is too square. But I'm reading all of your posts and I can see that nobody talks about it so I wonder if that's true...
  • cheerioboy26cheerioboy26 Member Posts: 412
    I think that's a photoshop of a Nissan Stagea (?)
  • lexusguylexusguy Member Posts: 6,419
I've not heard anything about a wagon variant. In this market it seems highly unlikely.
  • wibblewibble Member Posts: 569
There's no plans for a G35 wagon. I think the sales performance of the IS300 wagon killed that idea. The photo floated around is a Photo-Shop job on another Nissan.
  • lexi4lifelexi4life Member Posts: 181
yeah I probably saw a photoshopped infiniti G35.

Interested in the '05 G35 coupe. I understand there will be a wood package for the '05 model. Anyone know if the optional wood package will be a mahogany tone (darker brown) or a maple color (yellowish brown)? Personally, I prefer the darker brown wood tones and am hoping Infiniti will offer the mahogany color / tone.
  • jarchdeaconjarchdeacon Member Posts: 22
Anyone know if the '05 G35 will have an integrated bluetooth cellphone option (like the Acura TL)? I definitely like the idea of keeping my hands on the wheel if I have to use my cellphone!
  • wibblewibble Member Posts: 569
The wood package on the '05 is going to be straight grain rosewood. The wood will be on the gear knob, all four armrests and the centre console. Rosewood (on my guitars at least) is pretty much mid-way between the two tones you mention.
  • wibblewibble Member Posts: 569
Bluetooth isn't mentioned in any of the literature I'm seen so far.
