Actually, About half the fans were nomads who go from race to race. Their lives consist of drinking, smoking, eating too much, porta-potties, arranging their beer-guts over their NASCAR belt buckles and occasionally watching the race. I grew up as a redneck with a gunrack in my truck, but that didn't predispose me to a life lived in absolute squalor like some of these "fans".
Didn't see any "gang-bangers" at NASCAR. They usually come to sears point on they weekdays to race their cars in the 1/4 mile. Normally they'll drive early 90's customized Ford mustangs or Honda civics(gang-banger cars of choice?)
They did an A&E special (bill curtis) on drag racing in Cali. They followed around a guy who had 2 civics and he challenged a bunch of people pretty interesting show. All illegal stuff though
Sorry, I can't keep Californians from coming to your neck-o-the-woods. I'm headed back to my home state of Oregon myself, when I retire in 6 years. Of course, they grow lots of pots there also. At least the dope smokers at NASCAR didn't litter and puke everywhere.
Hero worship? Not I, captain. I simply receive entertainment from the race. I also don't see how Nascar is any different in their demographics compared to the rest of the sporting industry. I've been to Eagles games and the city had to bring a "at-game" court in session to deal with the idiots. Does this imply that every NFL fan is "PWT"?? I also find amusing that you "worked" this particular event for charity. Did the charity not benefit? So why are you bitching like some wannabe-snob? DOn't like the crowds? Don't do the "charity" work. BTW: There is only one type of hero: A person that actually risks their life for another in a just cause. That is one description, in which I agree with you, that is too loosely thrown around.
I consider myself PWT, so I feel I've the right to use it as I see fit. Even PWT can have manners and decency. I don't consider it bitching to be appalled when people throw their beer cans and sausage dog wrappers on the ground instead of walking 10 ft to the trash can. Why is holding people accountable for their actions, snobbish? I absolutely agree with you about other sporting events being a magnet for idiots. Overhyped and super-commercialized NASCAR racing is no worse than other commercialized sporting event. For me all the hype and overrated importance placed on these activities overshadows the fun they were intended to generate.
The Tundra's are not as quick as the Ford. Even with 3.92 gears, the Tundra won't keep up with a 5.4L Ford. I'm not saying that is fair to compare different size engines, but it is a fact. The Chevy, when comparably equipped including tire size and rear-end gear, won't out-run the Ford either. The problem is, it's hard to find a Ford with gears lower than 3.55's and it's hard to find a Chevy with higher gears than a 3.73.
Since it appears that you removed posts 118-121, why don't you do the right thing and shut down this STUPID topic, like the way you closed the Tundra bashing topic! Lets be consistent for a change!!!
Like I've stated before, I don't care if some doesn't like Chevys. That's fine, use one of the MANY other Silverado posts to state you opinion! Like "Silverado XII".
As a result of the actions of a small number of abherrants....
