I agree on that. I was at her (gf) house on the 4th no one was home and they could have come home at any time (not that we were doing anything horrible) and that kinda sucked. It makes you think to much kinda like someones behind you.

Tim we all have alot to learn about girls. No one can figure em out.

Ok, did you really expect me to stay out of this one. Here's a chicks opinion! And I'm pretty picky.......................

If you drive a junk - that states that you really don't care about what you look like, how you dress, smell, etc. Your vehicle reflects YOU. If you drive a nice car, you like nice things and know how to take care of things = you should know how to take care of me!

If you live at home......that depends on your age. If you are in your early 20's and live at home, NO PROBLEM. It is very difficult for a lot of people to save up for a downpayment for a home and kinda a waste to just get an apartment and throw your $$ away.
If your in your 30's and still with mommy and daddy for no good reason....There is a problem..
I went with a guy for quite a while who was 28 and lived at home in his parents lower level (it was a raised ranch so youc an call it a basement.) But, he was at home to help his parents out with their mortgage due to father health and misc. stuff. So that I respected and understood. (he was also in debt up to his eyes but....that's another story for another type of forumn)

I'd fall for a guy who is level headed enough to save some $$ live at home (majority of parents now a days give you some space when your and adult and at home) and wait to get a place he likes and works for way before a guy who has a junk car, house, all his toys and in debt up to his eyes.

    Just Remember...Re: all areas,
    ..FIRST IMPRESSIONS MEAN EVERYTHING!

Just a chicks point of view!

TRUCKCHIC. SEE GUYS im not so stupid.

You dont know the younger generation i guess.

  • obyoneobyone Member Posts: 7,841
you for your truck? Hmmm....what's the word I'm looking for....ah, yes...shallow. I agree that first impression means a lot. Maybe you misunderstood the "junk"...I was referring to my '00 Denali...which I'm beginning to believe is a piece of junk....all $44K worth...LOL

Seriously what is your interpretation of junk a '00 S10, or a Tundra...actually even a junk can be cleaned up and made presentable. As far as dressing for success, well Ryan's pretty much on his own. I remeber picking up a girl in a '77 Nova loaner while my Acura was in the body shop. This was a first date. I was kinda chuckling to myself all the way to pick her up in wondering what her first impression was going to be. Yep, she was shocked to see the rust bucket, but as the evening continued it all seemed to work itself out. At the end of the evening, she told me that the car was a unique experience and that her Dad had owned one like it. And thank goodness the seats were clean...LOL. Did I see her again...yep a couple of times and we've remained good friends over the years...

    that is non-new is junk.
In high school I got more attention with my almost 20 year old chevelle than the few rich kids got with their new Corvettes....(sorry Gary..big baby)

First impressions are important...but many people with flashy cars..can't really even afford them and are living behind a false wall to create that "impression".

To go for someone just cuz his or her car is nicer or what part of town they live..or the brand of clothes they wear or what kind of money they make is very sad and I think selfish..

So many people live like this and it disgusts me...many of my friends are about equal to me or a little under or over...but that does not make me forget the poorer ones and rich ones.

I have friends that make from $10K to $800K....having this range and not caring about material things is what makes "true friends"..

If a girl went out with me for what I drove...and made that her "first impression"....I'd have to pass on a shallow girl like that...

    My 5 cents

in general...nothing specific. did you listen to Tim's wav file. I unknowingly had my speakers on kinda loud, it sure threw me for a loop...

but you agreed with truckchick...making you in the same boat that it's for "what other people think"..

Just telling the facts.....like I so graciously do for the Tundra fans....(they don't seem to get it though)

..at least you are someone you can talk to..

well i'm sure you've seen many opinions on what
to do, but have you decided? if so let us know.
like to hear what you've come up with should you
decide to order your new ride.

Tim, has anyone actually gotten an answer out of
our host? this is the only place i've seen where
a host does'nt have the common courtesy to reply
to ones request. (probably get kicked off for
    that one). he he

So....have we decided on whether to order or not? Or maybe by chance you have ordered already? been awful quiet in this topic...

Sorry Guys for not responding. I'm only on during the week (while at work) and last week was a little hectic.

Looks liek YES, I am going to order one. The 00 GMC Sierra's I've seen all have bucket seats (which are uncomfortable for me) or are way way way too decked out for my choice.

So, I'm going to talk with the salesman this week and possibly go visit him and order one.

Thanks for all the advise. I'm sure I'll have more questions.

And....as far as the last topic....I think some ofyou need to go back and re-read my post. We were talking about Ryan should have moved out in place of buying a truck. I had just voted that it was okay for him to stay at home and what chicks look at and consider. Yes, older cars can be completely Not considered junks. It's all in the way you take care of it. Someone could have a brand new car and it could be junk if they don't take care of it.

As a matter of fact, I like a lot of the older cars way better than the new ones.

    So, chill guys.

CHILL YOU SAY, are you Ryan's sister or
    something?
  • ryanbabryanbab Member Posts: 7,240
We all know u said that stupid remark. Why you always hiding behind "anonymous"??? Scared of someone or something???

    Ryan
  • redsilveradoredsilverado Member Posts: 1,000
scared you say. i only wish my system was a
little better so it would'nt lose my ID and start
posting me as anonymous. as for the stupid
remark, i don't think it was stupid at all. i'm
merely asking a question. seems the dumbest
questions are the ones that are'nt asked at all.
why are you so defensive at times? seems to me
that you're the one that takes things way too
serious here. of course though, you do get ribbed
an awful lot, must have something to do with the
typical Cryin' Ryan posts that you come up with.
wax, oil filters, bug guards, rediculous flare
subjects, squeaking arm rests, bed caps, mud
flaps, dash rattles, tow covers, wax, oil
filters, engine ticking, bed liners, wax, OOPS,
starting to sound like you huh?

    ...red
  • ryanbabryanbab Member Posts: 7,240
Well lets see an oil filter isnt important?

Arm rest- i was just wondering if anyone had the problem or if someone knew how to fix it then everyone wanted to be a smart&*#(&@* and say pour 5w-30 on it which by the way didnt work haha.

Bed caps- Kyle asked what kind mine were and i gave him all the order info so he could get them.

Dash rattle- wanted to know if anyone also had this problem and how they got it fixed.

engine noise - also wanted to know if anyone had this noise and if they had any clue what it was and why it did it.

flares- yes i do go off about the flares i agree. hey truckchic are you gonna get fender flares???

bedliners, wax, hitch covers,& mudflaps - when someone asks about these i give my opinion and suggestion. I dont bring it up anymore (except wax because i just got mine) unless someone else does.

If you dont like what i have to say then ignore it.

Not quite sure what these are. I need to look them up.

Just by going with the name of them, probably not. That name sounds like the stuff people who lower trucks would put on.
  • ryanbabryanbab Member Posts: 7,240
No its not for people who lower their trucks.

    Ok red here it goes:

Truckchic what they are: Thick (black on all the dark colors but body matching on pewter and gold trucks) Plastic that goes around the wheel wells sticks out a little bit. In my pics i had could you see the black trim that went around the wheel wells??? In my opinion it makes the truck look sporty. Next time you go to the dealership ask they salesman to see truck with the fender flares (i hope he knows what they are).

Oh, I know what those are......Probably wont be getting them....that's all I'll say on the subject.

    truckchic

Hey, back to order question....on a quote I got for a new 2001 order, they wrote in $305 for co-op advertising. Can I fight that or not? I've been quoted the truck for $100 over invoice.
  • obyoneobyone Member Posts: 7,841
not to be a wise guy or anything but you can fight about anything that you do not want to pay. Maybe they will lower the coop advertising down to $205 than charge you $200 over invoice. Or you can tell them no one told you about coop advertising, then tell them you'll pay for half of the $305. Nothin to lose on that one...
  • mgdvhmanmgdvhman Member Posts: 4,157
..all they can do is say no....

They are also getting $1500 or more after the sale from the holdback remember..

Any deleted post was either off topic....

or in violation or our Participants Agreement regarding civil discourse. If the problem was eggregious, it was referred to the Townhall Community Manager for disciplinary action. If it was simply out of line, it was deleted and forgotten.

so either it was off topic or in violation of our Participants Agreement. Kind of a generic answer if you ask me. More like a cut and paste sort of thing...

If it was off topic (it was deleted before anyone read it) then every post should be deleted especially 85% of my posts haha.

    .....it's not required.

The factory hitch is the cleanest looking I have seen.

Many others show the entire bar that goes along the back bumper from left to right...I think that looks like crap..

The wiring is all done..ready for trailer lights...why would you want to do it after?

Right after I got mine...I went to get a ditch witch...I expected to put it in the back...little did I know they have a trailer to haul it with...

I was glad it already had a reciever..

Who knows what may come up?

    Up to you I guess.

Even with light loads...a Cooler helps.

Well hows the truck purchasing (ordering) coming?????? Did you order it yet?

    Ryan
  • truckchictruckchic Member Posts: 105
Hi there! Planning on talking with the salesman this week...he's a pain to try to get in touch with and not the greatest at getting back to you.

I found a dealer closer by who claims he has the truck 2000 model I'm looking for; so I thought I'd go there and test drive and then probably order a 2001. I have a feeling the trucks on this guys lot will be more loaded than what I want and unless I can get a really really cheap price on a 2000, I'll order the 2001 from the other guy.

I test drove one with the bucket seats and didn't care for that, so I want to test drive the bench seat to make sure it's what I want.

I'm getting really anxious though, I keep seeing MY truck all around just in different colors than what I want.

    I'll keep you posted.
  • obyoneobyone Member Posts: 7,841
you could tell if a girl really liked you cause she would sit next to you on a bench seat rather than "polish the door knob". ;)
