Looks like the bottom half of of a dashboard of an early Corvette. Perhaps the 1953-55 model?

1954 Corvette. Nice, but pretty expensive
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,671

Looks like an Iso Grifo (thank you, Matchbox) and a Triumph GT-6
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 267,265
The back one is a Triumph GT-6...

The front one looks familiar, but I can't name it.. :(

EDIT: weird.. I'm in a time warp.. Didn't see fin's post, until after I posted...

  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,671
Now you're talking, it's not only a 2002tii, it's the Holy Grail of postwar BMW fans, a '73 (small bumpers)>

Very nice car! I remember being amazed I fit in the back seat of a friend's 2002 (not tii, and it had the big bumpers, unfortunately). Still a great car.

Looks like an 83-84 Mercury Capri. not sure if the wheels are stock, or if they're off a Fairmont/Zephyr, or if they were just the standard FoMoCo wheels of the time.

Yep, it's a 79 Capri. IIRC those wheels were seen on Capris, Mustangs as well as their Fox Sedan siblings.

great post andys120, yes the sliding rear roof was the GMC ENVOY sliding roof idea 43 years earlier. I have this Studebaker even now as a Matchbox car, towing a (hopefully) small cabin cruiser.......not sure if that was possible back in the day......... :confuse:

Yep, cool car, dumb name. If I bought one the vanity plate would read JAZZ. ;)

It does sound cool and 27/33 with a manual is pretty good (even if the auto gets 1 mpg more). Edmunds just did a First Drive:

More Fun Than 400 Goats (Inside Line)

    My favorite shot of it:

I think I would remove the 'Fit' nameplate and put a 'Jazz' badge on it, or simply remove it altogether.

Actually, the 1955-57 Chevrolet Nomad wagon was to have a retracting rear roof. The fluted lines on the roof are a vestige of that aborted attempt. I think there were problems with the roofs leaking and that's why the idea was shelved. I wonder if any of those Wagonaires suffered from extensive roof leaks as well as GM's more recent attempt on those SUVs?

Maybe, the website I took it from identifies it as a ' 66. link (scroll down to '66 cars), there's really not much difference. :confuse:

Right on Magnette, it's a '52, I believe that is a bespoke Touring body, not the standard one.

Not even a single guess for my two coupes ? OK, well here's a clue - the orange one is from your side of the Atlantic, but the white one is British.... Both current cars, in fact the London Show last month was the European launch for the first one...

Anyone want to guess the cars in the background for the second one....

Don't bet on it, it looks vaguely Japanese to me but could also be related to the Triumph Dolomite.

I'm even more clueless on the coupes, maybe a hint would help. ;)

Some kind of odd looking Italian maybe, probably risky to expose it to rain. I do want to see a little Triumph lineage in it too.

The two coupes from earlier are not known to me - I do see an XJ220 and a Ferrari in the background though
  • magnettemagnette Member Posts: 4,233
It's not a Triumph, and it's not Italian...
  • magnettemagnette Member Posts: 4,233
Ok - the orange car is from Latin America, and is new over here...
The white British car has an Italian sounding name, although it sounded Arabic until last year when they renamed the make..It has a Ford V6 engine, and I don't think I've ever seen one on the road, but they have being making this car or it's similar predecessor for about four years - I would never have got it either...
