ya never know...maybe the stang had firestones on them...LOL!!

to be honest, I like both ford and chevy. however, I think chevy has been in a downward spiral for a number of years. they continue to lose mkt share to ford (as well as imports) every quarter. -In fact, most auto analysts are predicting that ford will surpass GM as the world's #1 auto maker in 10 years or less.

    oby,

Hey...some of them yukons and Suburbans were stocked with 'em too.
  • RoclesRocles Member Posts: 982
I'm still rolling on the 4.3 six dogging the 302. Oh man....what BS....
  • obyoneobyone Member Posts: 7,841
if the stang's Firestone's tread seperated...don't think it could beat a VW bug....

I can't believe you are bothered enough to post twice within five minutes the other day, and again today. Sad part is that I never said I "blew away" the Mustangs much less a Porsche or Corvette. What I did say was that, even after 225K miles, I have a Chevy that can still "beat" a 5L Mustang who thinks a Chevy can't get up and go. I have no reason to lie, or exaggerate for that matter. Ever consider that Mustangs might have had a few bad years? I posted because I was truly amused by the banter you all post, entertaining after a long day at work! Saying you were a riot was actually a compliment. Not funny because of your positions, but funny because of the debate. Guess (some of) you "guys" have to make things a bigger deal than they really are...and FYO, I am not a Chevy nut anymore than I am a Ford nut...just have a Chevy that was made in a good year,...actually looking at a Mazda for my next purchase...Ford owns part of Mazda right? Even my husband would have laughed at me for wanting a Mazda, ...so have some fun!

    My true feelings???

You have the best durn truck ever built.
  • RoclesRocles Member Posts: 982
Well shelby, now that I know you're a woman....I will rest my case. LOL!!!!!

A few bad years of the 302? And which ones were they?? The ones that the 4.3 six with 225k miles on it could still beat?? Who was throwing in the melodrama?

Who is entertaining whom? I'm not even going to bite on the Mazda mention....still laughing at the other quote.
  • shelby12shelby12 Member Posts: 25
Don't rest your case on account of my being a woman...since it took YOU a while to figure it out.
FYI: see first post for a mention of a "husband"......

Guess it takes some people a little longer to catch on....

So sorry you are losing credibility....all I am doing is having some fun, sharing opinions, and you are still uptight! Guess we are all good at entertaining each other. Huh?

Have a good day! I mean that sincerely.
    Regards.

Getting back to the humor! That's what caught my attention in the first place; or did you miss that comment too?... The only thing I missed.... was a chance to hear an important debate on the tube tonight between another couple of characters. Wouldn't waste my time except that one of them WILL win. You guys....pure entertainment. Gotta go paint my nails now. Later.
  • obyoneobyone Member Posts: 7,841
The funniest thing about the debate is that one of those jokers will lead this nation....that's got to be the biggest joke of all...wasn't there a write up about Bush belonging to the Skull's? Talk about strange... oh well back to trucks.

ryan, how did you remember to use tow/haul? I figured you would have forgotten that it even existed...LOL!!!
  • ryanbabryanbab Member Posts: 7,240
Paint your nails??? No no no at least say i gotta go wash my truck.

Dean what? Forget to use tow haul? Nope i drove half way with topw haul half way without tow haul did the job much better. Shifted smoother seemed like it had more power.

Well i gotta go do my hair now haha

  • obyoneobyone Member Posts: 7,841
as really....who decides whether one is too young or not....maybe it's not the right one....rather than not being the right age ;)

there are a lot of couples that are married and going to college...some even with kids...just thought I'd let you know...

Back to trucks...a guy posted over in truck accessories whether to have a shop install the bolt ons? care to answer his question....LOL!!
  • ryanbabryanbab Member Posts: 7,240
    i already answered his question

    Dean

hmmm im 21 and shes 17. You think we should get married??? I bet your answer (my parents and her parents) is no.

    Ryan
  • obyoneobyone Member Posts: 7,841
in the matter. Acceptance, of course is another story....it would be something like Romeo and Juliet??

Bottom line, once 18, it doesn't matter what anybody thinks. If they don't like it, it's their problem...I'm not saying that you should get married...just saying that what you said was incorrect when you used the excuse of being too young. Perhaps the correct term might have been too immature, too selfish, too irresponsible, ...etc. But never too young...same thing goes for being too old... Ya know. ;)

I am just not ready. Probably a combination of all the reasons you mentioned. But i would disagree on the selfish part. Id put myself aside for her or pretty much anyone else for that matter (close people to me)

Sounds like even at a tender young age (compared to us baby boomers) you have enough sense to know what you want...stick with instinct, and you will be making the right choice, now or later.
FYI:Just a "woman's" opinion...been there, and it all worked out well. Chevy...Ford...now those are easy decisions in the big picture.
  • ryanbabryanbab Member Posts: 7,240
Im suprised no one commented on the age difference.

Shelby i do know what i want. kinda got it mapped out. Just like my plan for buying my truck which only took about 2 and a half short yrs.

    Ryan

we all know the easy decision : CHEVY
  • obyoneobyone Member Posts: 7,841
why would anyone comment on the age? Maybe 4 years difference now is 20% of your age but when your 70...what's 4 years...only thing she is still a minor....
  • ryanbabryanbab Member Posts: 7,240
Yea just of late that became a problem. Her mom didnt trust me i guess u can say, at first she thought after the dance last saturday i was gonna buy her and her friends all kinda alcohol. Im dumb not but not stupid. Why would i take a chance on that and get blamed and get thrown in jail. Also no drinking and driving for me. Her mom offered to drive me home if i wanted to drink at their house. I declined she trusts me alot more now needless to say

    Ryan

In the vast scheme of things, 4 years is not a lot of difference, even at your age. My cousin married a man 10 years her senior when she was 20. They have been married for about 40 years. My sister married a man 13 years older than she is when she was 23. They are still married 21 years later.

I'm pretty impressed with you. You will go far in life.

Oh, and the correct choice is: GMC Sierra.

I thought I would pass this on, I heard it on the radio.

I guy goes into a professional building and tells the concierge "I've got the shingles"
The concierge sends him to suite 305.

The guy tells the receptionist "I've got the shingles". She takes his name and sends him into a room.

A lady comes in and takes his temp. and blood pressure. She asks what are you here for? The guy says "I've got the shingles". The lady leaves the room.

A man comes in, sit down, and says "What's your problem today?"
The guy says "I ain't got no problem, I've got the shingles. Are you the one that needs the roof repair?"
  • timothyadavistimothyadavis Member Posts: 322
Age difference should be taken into account. One of my Mom's older sisters at 17 year old married a man 17 years older than she was. Everyone was sure that it wouldn't work out. Sure enough, that old scoundrel went and died on her just 62 years later! ;-)

My wife is 14 years younger than I am. My older brother's wife is 14 years his junior too. As they've said, it matters much less the older you get. (Although I'm only 46 years young!)
  • ryanbabryanbab Member Posts: 7,240
Ok i just thought someone would mention the age difference kinda shocked me no one said anything. Only 1 of my friends said something to the effect "what does her parents have to say". My mom and dad are about 4 and a half yrs apart. So they dont have a problem with it.

Only bad thing about her is she wants a sebring. :(

    haha im gonna change that

    Ryan
  • shelby12shelby12 Member Posts: 25
Maturity is. Like I said Ryan, you seem to know what you want, and whether you marry while in school or out, as long as you do what is right for both of you...it will work out. Not always a picnic, but being mature helps a great deal. I was 18, just starting college when I met my husband; he was a single dad at 22. We were together over 20 years...
He was a "classic" Chevy man...55-56 BelAirs, 67 & 68 SS and RS Camaros, and a couple of 56 PU's. I've just got that old truck with 225K. Worked out fine for me.

if you are married and one spouse is 21( of legal age) then if the other spouse is under the legal age, it is PERFECTLY legal for the minor to drink in the prescence of the other spouse.

my best friend is doin this..his wife is 21 and he is 20

He looked on the net to find this law and i actually saw it so it is perfectly legal..so to prove that he is married he carries around his married liscense
    lol

anyways....just thought it would be interesting to say

    later
  • gobeangobean Member Posts: 8
That law is in Texas doesn't work in other states. You can do the same with your underage kids in Texas.
As a dyed in the wool Ford lover for a long time what can we do about Nassers policy of not hiring white males as an official policy? Want a new F=150 but it galls me to spend money with a company run by a man who wouldn't hire me my kids or a lot of my friends.
  • obyoneobyone Member Posts: 7,841
where did you read about Nasser's policy?
  • gobeangobean Member Posts: 8
Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with folks getting hired that don't fit into that demographic, however for a foreigner to come to the US and make the insane amount of money he does then make it a company policy to openly discriminate against a defined group, is so wrong in so many ways it makes me really ______, I am also really getting fed up with these (fill in the blanks) CEO's that only care about wall street and not building to absolute quality. There is no reason that Ford cannot match the quality of Lexus or Acura, we need people who build quality vehicles, insure customer satisfaction and brand loyalty. If you build strong, reliable, good looking vehicles the buyers will come and the profits will follow. All of this cost cutting needs to be done in the boardrooms. What I really find ironic is Bill Ford saying how great nasser is when nasser wouldn't hire him, his dad, or his Grandfather. Not to sound to nationalistic but we need a good old American car guy or gal, to put Ford where it should be. As I said I am an old line cut me and I bleed Ford Blue guy and it angers me that they bring in these air heads to ruin the company. I Own four Fords now and need to replace two, and I am wavering. Hope I answered your question. :-)
  • obyoneobyone Member Posts: 7,841
I'm not questioning your opinion on this, I'm asking that if you read Nasser's policy somewhere, I'd like to read it too. Or if it's heresay then that's fine too. I was just wondering cause it would be pretty stupid if that was his policy as he would alienate a lot of potential ford buyers such as yourself. I cannot imagine a CEO doing something so politically incorrect and that's why I asked where your source for this info was.
  • obyoneobyone Member Posts: 7,841
if Ford would have the same quality as Lexus...you would probably have to pay the same price as a Lexus. my $.02
  • RoclesRocles Member Posts: 982
    Shelby,

Sorry Hon....I didn't have that ample time on my hands reading your posts to figure if there was a man out there who was willing to suffer so much....LOL! (Don't bite--just a good macho comeback)

    Ryan,

I've been working alot lately so I haven't been responding too often---how did your granny's house end up?
  • gobeangobean Member Posts: 8
Just check the Blue Oval News site and you can read the info, the executives who made the policy decisions etc. And the lawsuites that are underway. I think those folks live in such a world removed from day to day reality like what us working folks deal with they think they are minor gods. Probably major in thier minds.
I personally believe that quality can had without excess pricing. It starts with a commitment from all involved and permeates an organization. If quality is required in every facet of the product, you have to end up with a superior product. It requires a lot of work and committment but ultimately is worth it. My thoughts anyway.

He finished it yesterday. Started this past saturday so 2 days wasnt bad. Not a very big project though. My truck did handle all the shingles and materials

Oh yea now im starting a new project. My basement. Plenty of drywall paneling 2x4's. Tim you think you could loan me your 2500 to haul the drywall.

Hey they sell 16 ft drywall by you??? What about 1/4 in thick drywall??? Just curious

    Ryan
  • mgdvhmanmgdvhman Member Posts: 4,157
    3/8....I don't know about 1/4?

    I didn't mess with the 16 footers....or even the 12's or 14's.....not even 10's....I used 8 footers for the ceiling....the heck with it...even with a drywall jack...the 8 footers were enough..
