other Wade bedrail cover owners. I am planning on getting the Pace Edwards rolling cover. Please look at the schematic figure 1 on the following link and tell me if you think your Wade rail covers would work with the roll top rail guide.

    http://www.paceedwards.com/rt_install.asp

Thanks in advance for your help,

My assumption is that it will not work. The contour (shape of the top 3 dips and the roundness along the bed) and thickness of the rail cap looks like it will interfere with the installation of the cover.

If you want i could take a closer up pic of the wade bedrail cap? When would you need it by? I wont be able to do it today ill be home after dark.

BCO whats your suggestion? Will it work or not?

If you think the profile of the wade rail cap goes over the rail to the inside of the bed, then it would not be compatible with the PE roll top assembly. Thanks for looking at it.

The wade makes an L shape. It goes from the rail to the inside and covers that little lip that goes into the bed.

The more and more i think about it the wade will not work with the roll top.

Im about 95% sure on this

I am going to get the clear Scotchcal (Stongard or Xpel) treatment on the front of my 'rado. I might consider having some cut to cover the tops of the bedrails. The only rail caps that seem to be compatible with the PE roll top, are PE rail covers. I'm not wild about their look so may go with some Scotchcal instead.

i disagree with what you said in #264. the fact that the caps roll over to the inside of the rail won't make it incompatible with the cover. if anything, it ADDS protection to your rails. you just have to drill through the rails too...no biggie. may even assist you in shimming...who knows.

From what i see it looks to be to thick. Can that be adjusted on the rool top part (the I Beam looking part that goes into the side)

it also says i cant read it its to small something about a gap. The gap wont be present because the rail cap will cover that. Correct me if i am wrong maybe i am looking at the schematic wrong.

BCO i am talking about the inside of the truck that the bedrail caps covers too. The little lip. You dont think that will be a problem???

SMIKES ask the dealer who you are buying it from they will (hopefully) know for sure.

I am just thinking with the bed and the rail cap that it will be to thick for the roll top side rail to attach

  • bcobco Member Posts: 756
dunno...that's why i suggested dry fitting the rails and seeing if it'll fit. if not, pull the rails and send 'em back. no harm done ('cept maybe $10 or so for s&h).

I read the frozen Pace Edwards topic from '99. Sounds like their was some mystery about a GM accessory tailgate lock. Has anyone found/installed a tailgate lock on a 'rado, recently?

    re: #274
that's the right part # for those steps and a good price. if/when you get 'em, let me know if you need help clarifying the instructions. it's NOT very intuitive.

    re: #275
gm offers a tailgate lock in their accessories catalog (at least they did for '00). from what i recall, it wasn't a "permanent thing", just a little doohickey you could put up under the latch that prevented you from operating the handle. when you unlocked it, it came out. at least that's what i remember. i'd have to go pull out my catalog at home to be sure...

I think at performance products. You unbolt the factory unit and drop in a locking unit. Also, there is always the Pop Lock that BCO mentioned.

My dad bolted a hasp to the tailgate and staple to the bed and padlocked the gate to the bed. Crude but effective.

I live in West Seattle. Thanks for the info on the step bars. Sounds like some guys have said they had a helper when installing their bars. Perhaps we can give each other a hand putting on the bars after you get your truck.

Nice looking receiver cover. What's it made of, how much and who sells it?

    Just don't lose the key...LOL!!

    smikes

The wade rail cap will work!! I have the Putco Stainless steel railcap installed under my Pace Edwards rool top. Drilling through the stainless was a major pain. But looking at the wade railcaps, it would be a piece of cake....

Because I wanted to keep it simple, I installed a latch on the inside of the tailgate which when attached to the bed will not allow access into the bed with the rolltop locked. Cost $2.59 at Home Depot....not sure what Menards would charge.

If you'd like pictures of the setup, let me know....

of COURSE not!!! i'd do the smart thing - hide the key in the center console or glove box where no one would EVER look to find it! ;)

there, or under the floor mat...

pop lock makes a tailgate lock for the new models. it costs about 38 bucks. it is a simple unit that allows the hndle to be locked from opening. of the three bolts in the tailgate you take out the lowest one, put in the pop lock, then put in a bolt they give you. the bolt they give you is one of those one way only deals. the loxk does not cover the whole handle as in the old styles. i think you can get them at one of these two places, and the model number is 1100.

do a search at stylinconcepts. the new one does not look like the picture they have. it goes under the handle and stays there by the one way bolt. the picture they have is the older style.

Almost ate it today. I was making a left hand turn when some guy blew a red light. I slamed the gas and he slamed his brakes. Dam it was close. Now I'm scared to take it out. Whew that was scarry! I was on my way to check out some billet grills. There was some talk a little back about them. Is one any better than the other? Ryan, thanks for the info on the camera. Got it from office max for $49.

    Hello,
Thanks for the info on tracking an order.
Now when I pick up my new truck in about a month, I will be asked by the dealer if I want to get an extended warranty. Not having been in this position before, I have a few questions:
    1) About how much will this cost?
    2) Is it a good idea?
    3) Do I have to get the extended warranty at or before delivery or do I have until the manufacturer's warranty has expired?
    4) Am I better off getting an extended warranty somewhere else?
    5) If I get an extended warranty from elsewhere, where do I bring my truck to be fixed under the extended warranty?

    Thanks,

    Chet Kulus

Brought it by the dealer, Service guy looked at the windows for about 2 seconds and said "I'll put the order in first thing tomorrow morning". I'll let you know how it works out.

Z chains.... or super Z LT chains. The Z chains are best but really expensive, the Super Z LT are cheaper, and I have two complete sets.... Work great, no truck moving needed for mounting.

Hard to beat the V-bar reinforced regular ol' chains for max traction, though....

Over Thanksgiving I was in Charleston SC. I stopped at a Pep Boys and bought a tailgate lock called Bully Tailgate Lock. It cost me $19. This is made by PopLock. It's what Pat is talking about. Here is the web site: http://www.poplock.com/. It's easy to install.

    From previous posts:

    1. Bedrugs are great. Things don't slide -- that's the point. I've had no problem moving stuff in the truck with my bedrug, including cement bags, wood, etc. You just can't be a weakling. Or apparently work at Menards ...

Now if you want a liner for things to slide around, why get a liner?

    2. Install Bazooka tubes yourself. Easy.

I looked at Carwizard, kbb and Edmunds. None of them listed Z85 as an option for the 2000 - 2500. Maybe my salesman was right.

    Bedrug:
I'm a contractor and haul a bed full of tools. I have a cap and a Bedrug. It works good for me. If I need to haul any bags of mortar mix, lumber, etc I pull a trailer.

You should get the hitch cover like mine. The Z71 itll match your sticker. You sure did post alot. Thats a nice shirt how much was it? I bought a nice black tee shirt that has a chevy symbol on the right and the back says silverado. Its black cost like $18.

    Nick you bought a camera?

Tim today i seen an older tahoe and guess what someone is crazier then me they had Z71 stickers on it. It looked stupid as all heck
  • obyoneobyone Member Posts: 7,841
    one....to me....still looks stupid....LMAO!!

I don't think the trucks were made to have those vinyl stickers on them as they serve no useful purpose. Except maybe for GM's marketing department.

I just got a power tailgate lock installed today, called a "Powerbolt".
Works off my power doorlocks, so it also works with my remote. It was $79 installed. I've had it for 6 hours and have had no trouble with it. Very dependable so far!!

Looks like the truck in #306 was towing a trailer, hit something in front, and the trailer pivoted up and landed on top of the truck.

    Am I right?

Who in the world uses chains? We have snow half the year and only the Post Office uses them here. Be advised though, they are not recommended for use with P265/75R16 sized tires. If you have anything other than 245s I wouldn't use them. We had some snow today and the roads were all iced up. I sure love AutoTrac!
  • mgdvhmanmgdvhman Member Posts: 4,157
Tahoe with Z stickers also.......to each his own I guess.......betcha 99% of people that see it don't know!

I used GMO....at the time there wasn't a single Ado deal or rebate to use anyway.....but I was under the impression that This is the price....period?.....some rebates may apply?

I was also told by a guy that you CAN wheel and deal with GMO/GMS?.....hmmmmmmm......

  • erikheikererikheiker Member Posts: 230
How much is involved in installing this? $79 installed seems pretty cheap. To buy one costs $99 at one site. I don't know about local availability, but I'll hit the Yellow Pages. The wiring is going to be the tough part. Where do you route and where do you terminate.
  • fortopfortop Member Posts: 239
    questions:
    1) If you load something heavy into your pickup with a BedRug (like a refrigerator), will the BedRug come loose from its attachment to the bed and bunch up as you slide the object across the bed floor when loading it?
    2) Does the BedRug attach to the bed with adhesive pads? If so, will the paint come off with the pads if you ever decide to remove the bedliner?
    Thanks
