In my defense, I was writing really quickly because I'm at work.

Still, I have to give you credit where it's due. Good job on catching my typo. You are well on you way to joining the ranks where Richard and I reside. :D

The only ages that matter as man are, 18 so you can vote and go in the Army, 21 so you can drink beer legal, 25 so your insurance rates go down, 35 so you can run for POTUS, and for me 100 so I can possibly see a either the Seahawks or Mariners win a Championship. If it happens before I hit 100 (58 years) i can die a happy man.

Hmmm, a diesel is interesting. The lease is up on our Jeep on 9/26/09, so a 2010 Max diesel might be something worth investigating when the time comes. Then again, I am 0-2 on being the guinea pig with new model introductions. Burned twice, now a bit gun shy on untested designs. I will be on the prowl looking for info on the diesel until then, though.

When will a new body style be introduced? The 04 is current, so maybe 09??? Or will they drag it out another year and introduce a diesel in conjunction with the new body style in '10?

--thanks to you and nthe re: premium fuel, BTW.

In grad school a guy in the apartments across the street had chains on his front A-arms to prevent drop to prevent becoming airborn (as easily) at high speeds in his Vette.

But that's not the usual--Agree. Just an interesting memory.

They slightly changed the inside for 2007... The maxima is up for redesign. It should be out in 2009.

"...Are you trying to say you wouldn't buy a used car from any of the others?..."

Well,in addition to the salesperson in the middle I might buy from the guy second from the right(he looks like he would understand me).

I wouldn't do business with the salesman second from the left(something tells me he would try to screw you).

By the same token, I would be wary of the guy forth from the left(he looks unstable and might go "postal" on me) .

    The rest, I don't know about. ;)

As someone who holds an English degree, I absolutely hate apostrophe abuse. In some cases, I've walked around town and grocery stores using a marker to remove additional apostrophes whenever possible.

Well, that explains why we don’t see you very much around here. You ain’t really a car guy. You only show up here while you’re waiting for your shoes to be re-soled at the cobblers. :shades:

    How about some sales stories.

I had this guy come in last week on a Altima... Knowing that he is shopping around on first pencil I hold about $1000. He jumps up right away and I have to peel him off the ceiling. So i ask him what the problem is and he says the competition is $6000 better. So at first I try to see they low balled him and tells me they didn't. I give the $1000 that I am holding which means I am at a net,net deal. Still $5000 away. So today I finnaly get a hold of him on the phone and ask him if bought at the store down the street and he says no not yet. I ask him what are you waiting for they are giving you a hell of a deal. He says I am going to keep shopping to see if I can get a better deal than the one they gave me...

    Starting last week also...

Last week I get a refferal from one my favorite customers who will call Mr.Luigi( he is very Italian) Mr Luigi brings his daughter and her husband in for a Pathfinder. They need a 7 passenger because they young children 7,9, and 12. So I when worked numbers with them I just break out the invoice and say OK Luigi what do you want to do. right away the invoice is to high. I say OK I will sell it for $300 below invoice. I know that they are going to do service here and it will be another deal for the month. So long story short they say no matter what they are not doing anything till next month. OK> Well Saturday I get a phone call from them saying they want to buy from me and that they are at the dealership down the street ( the same dealer I was talking about in my last post when I was $5000 apart) ANd that dealer is $1000 better. I say alright buy the car there and let them go on the phone. Now because I take care of Mr. Luigi in service he comes up with the paper work from there. I go on the locator screen and see what the dealer has for inventory. The only car they have is a $1000 cheaper because of the pkg. I explain the differance. Now Luigis daughter is ready to buy the car here and we write up the deal... everyone is happy. :)

    Craig will appreciate this one.

This couple comes in Saturday to look at LR2s. They test drive the car and it is by far the wife's favorite and the Husband really likes it to but it is her car so the final decision is hers. They have a budget for their lease of between 480 and 520 dollars a month. I tell them right off the bat that no NEW LR2 can hit that kind of lease payment without a ton of money down. The leasing program on them is just too weak.

I could do that on a service loaner though without too much difficulty the only thing they would give up is four months and 5,500 miles of warranty. That doesn't matter to them since their lease would only take them out to 43,000 miles.

I work out the lease on a service loaner and I can get to 490 bucks a month with about 500 dollars less down then they wanted.

I only have two colors of Service loaners though and neither is the color she likes. She is so hung up on color that she is going to spend more money on an Audi that she told me over the phone this morning that she doesn't like as much as the LR2 just to get the color she wants.

I don't know if it is some kind of strange negotiation tactic that she thinks will make me give her the color she wants for the price she wants when I have told her it is just not possible.

I could really learn to love a color for for 30 bucks less a month and 500 dollars less up front especially if it is on the car I like better. :confuse:

That was an old ad for the Discovery Series II. A brilliant one at that. The headline read something to the folowing effect:

L ke Yo r Br in, the Discovery A tom tic ly Ad usts To ny C d t on.

I had it posted at my desk while trying to break into the copy writing sector of the advertising business.

Ah man I left my retrospective copy at work and it does have a copy of that ad in it.

It was for the new ACE(Active Cornering Enhancement) that debuted on the 1999 or 2000 Series II Disco. It was the First SUV with an active suspension.

Betamax was better than VHS - the problem was in pricing and marketing by Sony - in their greed they wanted to keep everthing to themselves, which backfired big time, as JVC allowed cloning the system.

I don't think it is a tactic. Some people are really hung up on that sort of thing. I somewhat understand it on a purchase, but not so much on a lease.

To many people 30 bucks a month is nothing for the color or features they want. It's less than they spend on coffee. They will get into and drive the car evey day for few years. They want to feel good about whatthey drive. But then again, to some, it doesn't matter at all.

Just got back from my doctor's visit and blood work. Should be ready for second round of chemo tomorrow morning. :) I'm feeling ok. My wife was with me this morning and on the way to the appointment I asked her about that fateful day when she got the news that I had cancer. It's been three years now. Yesterday was the third anniversary of my surgery. This really turned our world upside down but we'll make it. I just want to leave as much as I can taken care of so she doesn't have to when I leave. Now about posting pictures ;) it's very easy once you get the hang of it. Find the picture you want to post. Left click on it and click on "properties", highlight the URL that has the .jpg at the end for example: Location http://www.carspace.com/mackabee/corolla.jpg
left click again and click on copy. Go to the post you are writing and right below the box where the emotorcons are click on the box that says Img then place the mouse right next to it and left click then click on Paste then click on the Img box again and PRESTO! Shango! Picture in post.

    BR--

Too bad that you are in CT and I'm in OK. For a few sandwiches I could have gotten a handful of my art students to paint that rig in no time. Just a quick trip to Lowes or Walmart for some Krylon paint cans in a color similar to what she wanted. We could have sprayed that LR2 in a couple of hours. No extra charge for over-spray or paint runs. For a bit of extra (bread) dough we could tint the windows with some flat black as well. :)

The real beauty is that after a couple of car washes the new paint will begin to fall off unevenly and it will look like no other Rover out there. Now that's much more personalized than some aftermarket wheels, don't you think?
