ALl I am saying is you shouldn't run out because of a peice of paper on a car. Especialy people that come here. You guys are the ones that are educatedand shouldn't be afraid of anything.

I just had experienced this when buying my Jeep Grand Cherokee. That is hardly a high demand vehicle. 08s have a $3k rebate on them. I walk into dealership A and they have one with MSRP of $42k and $7K ADM. Dealership B down the street has the same car without any ADM. Dealer B is closer to my house than dealer A. Which one would you rather deal with?

Even if dealership A came down in price, I already got a bad vibe from them. If they are the only dealer in the area, it's a different ball game. But when they are multiple dealers of the same brand? I'll move on.

Yeah I have seen those before. Some people I knew that did rally or Rally cross had beefed up versions of the OEM subaru diff protectors.

Except, we prep our cars as soon as they come off the trucks, not after they are sold.

BE AWARE THAT THERE ARE STILL DEALERS OUT THERE THAT JUST DONT CAREABOUT YOU ALL THEY WANT IS TO SELL A CAR MAKE THE MOST THEY CAN AND DONT THINK ABOUT MAKEING YOU A FRIEND THAT WILL BUY FOR YEARS TO COME AND SEND ALL YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS TO. MOST OF THE TIME YOU ONLY WANT TO GO BACK TO THEM TO [non-permissible content removed] THEM OUT AND THAT IS SAD. GREAT JOB GUYS!!!!!!!!!! MAYBE ALL OF THE STORES YOU HAVE TOGETHER CAN BRAKE THE 200 MARK FOR A MONTH.

Richard i think we need your help with editing on this :P

Just fooling around at your expense Lincoln, no harm intended. Read previous posts and you will understand.

How many people really need a differential protector on a Subaru? I've rarely seen one taken off road, at least not in conditions that would warrant something as extreme as a differential protector.
  • isellhondasisellhondas Member Posts: 20,342
Even though you didn't mention the name of that other store, you did give their location and state.

It almost sounds like you came here to slam your competition?

    AAAAAAAAAA, MY EYES HURT!!!!

I run the # 1 internet hep. in the country for a LINC/Merc dealer and it is tuff.

I would seriously suggest a grammar/spelling coach. Your sales will increase exponentially.

    Cheers!

Chances are you have actually made money on the houses but certainly not the cars. New car depreciation is typically your biggest expense. Of course I could be wrong.

Thats why I say you should rent (lease) what depreciates... and buy what appreciates ;)

That's just plain silly. This is really the case when for one "sucker catch" they potentially lose ten or twenty customers. Hardly a feasible economical model, IMHO. But again - I'm not in retail so what do I know ...

No apology needed and you are a friend, not an enemy.

I even agree with you and I was not offended in the least!

What customers have a problem is when dealers ADM every vehicle and say that's the way they come.

Yeah I agree with you. It has been a crazy day. I think I might have over vented a little.

Exactly. I was trying really hard not to laugh when they told me their price. Oh, and this was pure ADM. There were no extras, mop and glo, bras, etc. installed.
  • madmanmoomadmanmoo Member Posts: 2,039
That Lincolnexpert reminded me of one of my favorite posters. I miss Tbaxxon. He came and left so quickly. It was a whirlwind romance and then he disappeared without leaving a forwarding address. =(

Btw, I just sold my first Porsche! =D

Had a similar experience five years ago. Saw last model year Mazda 626 (everybody knows here it was a slow seller and it was last year of that slow selling car) place at the mall in Tallahassee. Local dealer slapped 3 grand (I think) "market adjustment" sticker. Talking silly.

ADM on all Corollas and Matrices: I'm out of here. They are obviously idiots or think I'm one. Either way - don't do business with them. That is lack of respect. Doesn't matter if I could negotiate lower. I just don't do business with people whose understanding of free market economy is "take money and run".

I guess I might have taken it personally but I think there must be more to it than just stickers on a window. How did the dealership look? Did it look shady? Did the sales people look shady?

Also on the other hand we only have a select few 5 out of 350 and the ones that do have them are ussualy in the showroom. I have had objections to them in the showroom but I just say no problem lets look at one with out it.

Boxster manual. Black/black. Not full pop, but we did well. I think the discount came to be about $1,800. That means a payable of $4k for me. Not a bad start!

    I think I've found heaven.

I think that is retarded to put a ADM on a car with no add ons. We put them on cars that we have added leather or a moonroof. Some people want leather but not all the other stuff. So that is why we offer it. But just to put a ADM on a car with reason for it is just dumb.

Right now we are taking orders for the GT-R that is coming out in June. We are telling people that there will be $10,000 mark up over sticker since they are only making 1500 of them. No one has had aproblem with that. Keep in mind we only have two orders.

Here is what I read about those GT-Rs. Correct me if I'm wrong, GP.

Apparently, in order to get an allocation from Nissan, your dealership needs to be equipped with the tools to service these monsters. 3 years of service will be included in the asking price. You need to train technicians to take care of the new vehicle and buy the new equipment as well. If you don't do that, then you get no allocation.

Have you heard any of this, GP? I actually read this at the Insideline.com. These are supposed to be tracking 911 Turbo speeds at Nurbringer (sp?).

I don't know where Tbaxxon is. I've been told that he comes and goes in different aliases. I miss that guy though. He was one of the funniest posters I've ever read. GP can vouch for that. It's rare that I am sitting in front of the computer and laughing so hard that tears are running down my face.

What was that car that he paid like $5k for?? I forget, I'll need to patrol another forum to remember.

Actually, those ADMs or preinstalled Mop&Glos tend to go together with "sweaty and shady" environment - at least in my short experience Here in Tampa there is one large chain I just can't bring myself to like (Courtesy). Every visit in any of their stores (I tried three or four different brands over time) ended with a prayer to go home and taking long hot shower. ... The vibe is basically wrong from the start. It always starts with the "wrong" sticker and gets only worse when a salesperson approach. Hard to explain - but I would rather get colonoscopy than talking to those guys again.

    Moo,

Good to hear from ya buddy and congrats! Sounds like you had a $800-$1000 commision. That is never bad for one car. Definately beats a mini

To answer your question Yes there stipulations for the GT_R's

    1) Has to be a store that has passed Owners first award

    2) I am not sure about the technician part but that part would make sense

    3) Also it has to be a building that has the new Nissan look, The new design building if you know what I mean. The building has to look like the buildings in the Nissan Comercials

    4) Obviusly a store that sells 350Z's

I know our store meets all that criteria :shades:

If I get any other info I'll let you know :)

I have to agree with you. We've bought and sold 10 homes in 40 years. We made between $30k and $70k on them---clear profit. We also had nice tax deductions on the improvements because we kept them for at least two or three years. You can't do that with cars---or at least I can't. You made an excellent point.

So your ADMs are not really ADMs. They are more "dealer option" cars - it's not the same thing at all. You actually select a few cars and soup them up. Nothing wrong with that. I wouldn't buy them, but somebody just might - and shows possibilities. Same with those insane short-line hyper cars, like GT-R, Shelby, or even Solstice. There is not enough units on the market, so you adjust it to the point that five people say "I pass" and sixth will take it. OK with me, too.

But as you read here, some store owners/managers simply put a finger in their rear ends and come up with an additional markup that has no other justification than their fantasy or ego. The damage is done - in today's age when more and more people know true invoice to the penny, you simply can't do that and expect your business go well.

  • madmanmoomadmanmoo Member Posts: 2,039
There ya go. That's about what I was thinking for the stipulations. My old store met like 1 or 2 of those criteria. Thing is, I really doubt that the store I was at is going to spend the money on the equipment and traning to service those cars. I would think you'd be spending in the $200k range to get everything put together. It's too bad, but maybe that means more allocation for your store.

When do you expect to see those hit the lot? (and immediately get driven off)

It SHOULD be a contender if it's as fast as they are saying it is. AWD 480hp twin turbo that's street legal? WOW!

    -Moo
  • british_roverbritish_rover Member Posts: 8,502
Bah same thing as the 3000GT. The problem with those cars was that the only desirable models were the Turbo AWD models. That was the VR-4 on the Mitsi ant the RT Turbo on the Dodge IIRC.

Those cars were both hand grenades waiting to happen.

The lower level trim cars were much more reliable but slow, heavy and boring.

My bad... I read your post and compared it to what we do here

Now I know what kind of stores you talking about. I can't believe those stores are still around with all the competition... :surprise:

Ya know sometimes when I go on swaps to other stores in the area and listen to the other sales guys talk to customers it makes me think I can't believe they are selling cars.

That's not bad given what the dealer has to invest to certified to sell them. I expect they will sell out fairly quickly. How much spillover marketing and additional pull through traffic do you think the store will get by carrying them?

    Dino,

You absolutely MUST do yourself a favor and search the forums for "Tbaxxon". Search under "Message Text" and check the "Buying Tips - How to Get the Best Deal" forum. Read over his inital statements from the very beginning. See if you get the humor. Me and GP were in stitches for about a week.
