Fast forward to yesterday. I ran into the husband at a local pub. He comes up to me and tells me that since I made that statement he traded the porche for another one. I asked which one and he says a Carrera 4S. I asked him...what no turbo? Sorry I can't post his reply as it would be a violation of the terms of agreement here at Edmunds. Must be nice to have that kind of money. I'm wondering if he will own a turbo the next time I see him...
Personally I would like to drive a girls car. If the girls all like it they might not notice the old fossil driving it and get in.
BTW, I've never been clear on what makes a car a "girls" car. Is it the "bra" on the front?

What really constitutes a "girl's car or chick car?" The fact that women know value when they see it? Looks, performance, reliability? Mack Jr. was beginning to get an inferiority complex when he started seeing a lot of girls driving the Scion tC. He asked me with concern "Dad , is my car a chick's car? I'm seeing a lot of girls driving it." I told him don't worry they are about even in sales between men and women. Personally I have sold more to guys than girls. The xA was definitely a chick's car. All the xA's I sold were to women. Considering that most car purchases are influenced by women, I'd say all cars are chick cars.

Really slow around here today. Figures is the beginning of the month so most people are not thinking cars right now. It will get mad around here right before and after Christmas, the annual Toyotathon has begun!-
Correct on both counts AND no kids. Bet his car salesperson is happy.
How do those salespeople that sell rovers make a living? Visited the local dealer and all he had was CPO 04-05 which looked like they came off of lease. No new Range Rover or Sport available for sale. What's up with that?
Joel--
I don't know if they're the oldest Volvo dealership. I did buy my Toyota MR2 from their used car center about 8 years ago. The reason the name has stuck with me is that my wife had actually called to see if the car was still available and when she heard the dealership name she immediately freaked out. She thought the Gorges Motors was "Gorgeous" Motors and all she could picture was young men with greasy hair and badly capped teeth who wore fake gold watches and ill-fitting Italian suits. She was adamant that we wouldn't be traveling 150 miles to deal with a bunch of disreputable so-and-sos. For some reason when we determined it was "Gorges" that made it ok.
Back in 1969 my folks bought a Ford from a dealership named Gene Butman. Probably not the best name for a dealership either, but still in business in Ypsilanti, MI How could anyone like "Butman Ford" on the "rear" of their ride? That Galaxy 500 ended up being my first car.

I drove an MGB (my first car) & enjoyed the dickens out of my two Miatas. All were considered "cute" & potentially girlie cars.
Now, ask me if I care.
I think I have you figured out. You want him to buy, on his nickel, what you like so you can get a free no obligation test drive, right? I used to know someone like you.
BTW, I remember Buddy Epson and Jack Lord but I don't remember that line by James Dean. I must have been on a test drive that day with one of my rich friends. :P

Is that where people donate money to send a needy salesperson to camp?

We are really concerned that we will run out of Range Rover Sports before the end of the year. We only have seven left right now and no more are coming before the middle of January.
Could be much worse - snow storm here. I guess it's very slow at the dealerships. Too bad that the guys miss a Saturday. I'm even debating if I should go to the store to get stuff for the grill tonight, otherwise will have to change to whatever is in the freezer. I just hope that the wind changes or quiets down - right know it blows straight into the deck.
The only thing I'm taking out is the snowblower - actually can't wait. I'll also try my new garage treat - stereo on the wall, combined with wireless headphones. Those would serve also as noise protection (and earmuffs in the winter). Scored those for 14.99 on Black Friday morning. Vroooom!
Best thing about winter work - ice in your scotch doesn't melt
Good Luck today, Mac. And as always I keep my fingers crossed for your treatment to go well.
I finally picked up my 08 GS. They just released them. It arrived on the 29th and I picked it up on the 30th. I waited so long, almost went out and bought a Cadillac CTS instead.
I asked about your IS350. They said a guy who can't tell the difference between a Camry and ES should stick with a Corolla :P
ALWAYS looking to stir the pot ..
We say Black, he says White
We say Po-tato, he say Po-TATO
Get the drift?
Yeah that would make it very hard. It would almost be faster for Land Rover to send the cars the other way around the world to get them there.
ANYTHING VW - especially a cabrio (now EOS) & Jetta
Mazda Miata
BMW 318i (coupe & convertible) - NO longer made
MB SLK (any model) & c230 Coupe (looks like a REEBOK sneaker) 2 door hatchbak
Porsche Boxter (non-S version)
Mitsubishi Spyder
Lexus SC430
Any 1 care to add anything else?
OMG! I like about half of that list! What will I do now? I guess I'll have to go down to the local bar and start a fight or something to reaffirm my manhood!

Speaking of chick cars, check out this 2006 Porsche Cayenne test drive. Gorgeous, and I don't mean the car.!

It was midnight blue and I should have never sold it!

You might be able to make the argument that the early MINI Coopers with the CVT automatic are chick cars but that is it.

My MR2 is a black 92 NA with barely 60K on the clock. The body and interior are nearly mint. Whenever I take it to the local Toyota dealership the service manager always tells me he has a couple of guys lined up who will buy it. It would be hard for me to part with because it's so cheap to service, insure and tag. I think in 8 years of ownership I've put in less than $750 including scheduled maintenance. The biggest expenditures were the timing belt and a couple of rear tires. What's not to love?
I always marvel that a 15+ year old car can look so good--and that everything still works including the power antenna. The T-Tops don't even leak, not that I drive it in the rain anymore. I call it my fair weather friend. It does spend a lot of time under a car cover in the garage.

The quote "Live hard, die young and leave a good-looking corpse" is usually attributed to a character in a late 40s film called Knock on Any Door. Bogart was in it, but the young thug who uttered the words was played by John Derek. Mr. Derek later went on to leave a bunch of good-looking corpses in his midst--metaphorically speaking--by marrying and divorcing Ursulla Andress, Linda Evans and Bo Derek. Then again, I guess those women have done quite well for themselves independent of Mr. Derek's influence.
Now back to our regularly scheduled sales stories...

She paid the entire bill for the first but now that it happened to the other side she feels there is a design problem but the dealer says there is no TSB for this problem. She then goes to Toyota but no help there either. Click/Clack allude to the hinges being under rated for these doors for this year and that subsequent years have beefier hinges.
Sooo, Toyota guru, what’s the story here? I know you know.

If that bothers you, if you hurry up, you might be able to catch up with 'oldfarmer'. The last we heard, he was going down to the corner bar to start a fight just to prove his manhood. Maybe the two of you can clean out the whole place. :P

We have one of our regular customers that has a 93 Red Turbo with leather, t-tops and only 25k miles on the clock. I've known her since 97 when I started working here. I gave her my card and told her if she ever wants to sell it I'll be the first in line.
She was in service a few months ago and the car just looks immaculate. Most of the guys were around it when they brought it out of the service bay.

I had a problem with the CV axles in my wife's 97 Camry. The replacements didn't do to good on the driver's side so about 8 months later after I talked to my mechanice and service writer they told me they would replace them at no charge. Worked for me.

2014 Malibu 2LT, 2015 Cruze 2LT,
I admit to liking many things that are considered chick cars. I like the VW Cabrio I tired out. It was slow as hell but it drove like a VW which I mean in the best sense of the word.
Miatas don't count. I'd take one in a minute.

I would have lived with the slowness but the truck was a little too small to fit a guitar in. I gotta have that.
