Lol! I'm sure that will get you on their side! How's business on the Honda side of the house? I stopped at my Toyota dealer today and business is slow. They are saying this month is slower than last month. I feel for you guys right now. I took in the new Camry for it's first oil change. Got close to 5k miles on the clock already. All those trips to Maryland to see the new grandson. My wife wanted us to take the old Camry and I said: "We didn't buy this one to keep it in the driveway looking pretty hon." Only thing I regret is not having bought a V6 sooner! This thing is a beast! My oldest has a G35 and it's pretty quick, but even my wife noticed the Camry is quicker. Must be the extra gear. The mileage is great also. I've been averaging 29.5 mpg on the highway and 24 in the city. She's taken quite a likin' to it and let me drive it today to get the oil change. She did call me to tell me the old one feels like she's riding a horse and her butt is dragging the ground! LOL! :shades:

Hey Mack! Wow - David Garibaldi! That is amazing. I remember one time eating lunch at the next table to Vic Firth and was super excited to talk with him.

Hope your guitar lessons go well - maybe you'll be some sort of guitar savant, make tons of money and buy a new van for your band mate (just trying to keep on topic).

Seriously, great news about your grandson Isaiah - we just had a baby boy named Isaac last Monday, so I share your joy! Good luck with Japan. Your stories always made me laugh - maybe someday Isaiah will laugh at ours!

Take care, buddy - we're all thinking of you and your family.

    "That's like break and brakes."

I figured that you would like that one. Enjoy your trip and tell us about the cars in London. I love those cabs.

my wife wants a lincoln mkx. i am hoping she buys a maxed out escape or mariner as she has enough money in her 'next car' account to pay for it.
she drives a 5 year old escape limited, so maybe she is looking for something different to drive for the next few years.
my explorer driving daughter gave us a scare last night.
she called from a sleepover at a friends and said the 'o/d off' light was on.
    today, everything was a ok.
i drove it and pushed the button at the end of the shift lever to lock out overdrive and the light came on. i turned it off and restarted, no light.
i think it is 'problem solved'. :)

Mack, it's good to have you back and HOSTS...PLEASE let him stay!

I'm still hoping for a miracle so don't give up yet!

Business has picked up a bit this month although the customers are pitting dealer against dealer as never before. It's like they smell blood in the water!

    Hang in there, buddy!

Mac, good to hear from you again!

You're an inspiration to all of us here. Spend time with the ones you love, and do what you gotta do to fulfill your wishes, dreams, and bucket lists. Everything else is trivial and doesn't matter.

I think you touched everyone here one way or another, and your lack of presence lately was, is, and will be missed. Enjoy your travels, and thanks for popping in!

Never had a V6 before have ya? I never had anything smaller than a V6. Go get an 8 like my Genny, now that’s a real beast. :)

Congratulations and enjoy your new (and old) grandson/s.

Great to hear from you again.

Damnit, you are in my thoughts and prayers Mack, hoping for a miracle cure for you. I lost my father 11 years ago to lung cancer. He was in the 5% group of non-smoking lung cancer deaths. And I have a co-worker whose wife is going through the whole gamut of surgery, chemo, and radiation for breast cancer. It is a dreaded disease.

At $70-80k per acre, I believe that I would call that developer now!

Unless oldfarmer is sitting on just a quarter acre, we may have to start being nicer to him... as to stay in his will. :shades:

It's their choice. I always present two or three payment options: 60/72/84 month terms.

With our recent purchase they presented 24/36/48 and 60 month terms.

I'm not so sure they were pretending. ;)

If you "google" Village People you'll be able to see (and hear) them.

They were a goofy group from the 80's who were quite successful.

One of them dressed up like a motorcycle cop.

Well, I didn't get arrested at the Tea Party, even though I was one of those who spoke to the crowd of 1,000. As for the bumper sticker---not me!

Good for you! I would have attended the Tea Party in Louisville if I hadn't had an appointment I couldn't change.

about the cars in London. I love those cabs.

    Some brief observations:
*The cabs here are really well thought out. Small on the outside but lots of room inside.
*It takes 3 years of training to be a cab driver here and it is considered a very good profession to be in. They know most of the streets from memory. A few times we have left a credit card or umbrella on the back seat, and the driver called us back, they are trained to check the cab when you leave.
*They used to be black but now have lots of wild colors, and advertising
*I really like seeing all the models of cars here. The majors like Mercedes and Toyota have a lot of models we don't see at home.
*It is fascinating seeing all these smaller cars navigating through all the traffic.

Can't believe, the Mac is back!

    Mack--

If they delete this post - I will organize some sort of protest of grand scale in your honor.

Thank you for the post. It is a great reminder to all of us on how we should always keep things in perspective. I have always enjoyed your posts and look forward to hearing the updates on your bucket list.

I would be more than happy to contribute to a "Send Mack to Japan" fund if you decide to set one up.

    Godspeed, my friend.

It was cold and rainy and the local tea party in Dayton was 6000-8000 overflowing the square block park. It is being called the largest in Ohio (Cleveland, Cincy, Columbus, Astubula, etc.) The local slanted newspaper editor tried to minimize the event's meaning by suggesting there are a few people there and it was dumb working stiffs and no minorities to speak of. He minimized the people speaking by suggesting they were bumbling and illiterate. Doubt that fits richard64 description--grin.

Link to editorial blog follows: Newspaper editor's view on tea party

imidazol....down here in Cincy, we got 4,000 protesters in the "tea party". Orderly....no incidents. It hit the front pages of the local newspaper, too. I wasn't there. But, from what I saw on the news, the protesters were quite a cross-section....regardless of gender, race, or age.

Pretty much hailed as a success around here.

When Mack got banned, was when I was incognito.

If someone can email me to let me know what went down, it would be appreciated.
  • isellhondasisellhondas Member Posts: 20,342
Of course, I support the Tea Parties that happened but, really there were nothing but a total waste of time.

Not one thing will come from them and with Democrats in office, taxes will only continue to increase.

Still, people had a chance to blow off steam and that was a good thing!
  • imidazol97imidazol97 Member Posts: 27,727
The media has had to admit the events were successful. The part of the media that wants to report one side and minimize the other has had a problem. This editor of local paper who is one of the few who write the typical editor, wrote this Click Here in the contemporaneous blog yesterday to minimize Dayton's event and the class of people attending ---now touted as largest in Ohio. The TV pictures contradicted him.

Thanks for chiming in Mack. If I had to pick one person that personifies this long-lived thread, you are it! Hope you make it to Japan and enjoy the guitar lessons!

You are correct about the media. National news claims that there were 300 Tea Parties. My list from the national center shows over 2,000. This was NOT a waste of time. There are some good things being organized out of these meetings---Flat Tax, Fair Tax, new congressional email strategies, future meetings, etc.

Please read the link to the editor's blog. Read all the responses. There's a firestorm. The local paper shank 11% a few weeks ago. I predict they will shrink the width one more time trying to save money and then go the way of the Rocky Mountain News. This is a Cox Newspaper owned by an Atlanta Company.

To post a picture in a message, simply click on the "Img" button just below the field that you type your message into. That will insert an opening tag into your message. At that point, type in (or paste) the exact web address of the image followed by a closing quote. Finish by pressing the "Img" button again. That will insert the closing tag and voila - you're done!

May I add a little to that. You can't just select a picture on your hard drive on your computer and paste that address in. You have to select a picture that's on a computer somewhere else on the internet. Suppose you find a picture that's on a page like CNN here at

    http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/04/15/phillips.tea.party/

Right click on the picture and choose properties at the bottom of the flyout menu and the address for the picture will show. Copy the entire address which looks like this using copy:

    http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2009/POLITICS/04/15/phillips.tea.party/art.tea.part- y.boston.cnn.jpg

Then paste this address onto your message you're posting here. Select the whole thing by dragging your mouse over it so it's blue and click the Img button below the message composition box. Or click Img, then past the picture address, then click the Img button again. Either works.

OR you can upload your picture to a free account on sites like photobucket.com where your pictures from your computer can be stored. After upload the picture to the site, the picture will be an address that you copy and paste into your message here just like described above.

Hint: you can practice pasting pictures into a message then choose Preview from below the box and test to see if it's working for you without actually posting to the site and trying to edit and delete if it doesn't do right.

    Good luck. :)
