Actually, after bankruptcy, I think Chrysler Stock will be kind of Charmin'
I had a decent month too actually, my best since January. So I'm fairly happy. I've also streamlined some of my internet marketing, where I dumped non performing ad sites, so I have more time to focus on the websites that get us a lot of traffic.
My next pet project is to have 20+ photos of every new car in inventory online. It will take time but it's worth it. I sold a few cars this way cause folks saw exactly what we have instead of a generic photo.

With all the bugets cuts I see everywhere it amazes me that they don't cut those jobs. Quality control in my opinion could be cut from jobs... Think of all the time and money these people do just to make sure the first person does there job right. Or here is another idea. Pay the first guy the right amount of money to get the job done right!!!!!!!
Your welcome Driver about the sales course. Alot of dealers do it. Or my favorite one.... You will see a job add in the paper.... Make $75k - $100k 3 day training course and will find a dealership for you to work at.... These guys are like head hunters, all they do is get 20 people come in and have each of them pay $300 for this 3 day course, sometimes itis 5 days. If you last 3 months in the business you get your $300 back. if don't you loose your money. The best part is they don't really teach you anything except the basics of how to meet and greet someone, for instance..... "Hello I am Greanpea, and you are? Do you prefer Mr. Smith or does Bill work for you?" it just cracks me up.....
But as I said if you don't have people skills or PROBLEM solvong skills you will never make it in this business.... Another skill which is basiclly a need for any job is time management..... If you can't set realistic time expectations and get things done.... you are a gonner.
That is one of things that consumers never understand about the business here. I understand you think you do all the work because you research what you want. And think you know what you SHOULD PAY..... But if you don't have a SALESMAN that knows how to get things done.... and done RIGHT.... that is where people have problems.
You may have been through it before where you promissed the world, only to take delivery and be dissapointed because the vehicle wasn't ready!
for instance I am delivering a vehicle to guy who bought his previous vehicle from my store. i wasn't the original salesperson. But I have been working with him for about 4 months and he finally pulled the trigger yesterday. Of course he stole the car but, when I told him I would have everything done by 2pm today (eastern time) he said no way, last time I had to come back 2 times to get everything done right. Well about a half hour ago i called and told him to come in. Ya know what that means to me...... 100% CSI.... and that is sometimes worth more ( in bonus ) than a commision
GP
I always get them mixed up but I know what i need to do, The left brain is does the logical thinking and the right brain does the emotional thinking. The trick is to get people from the logical side of the brain to the emotional side of the brain. Believe it or not we do use word tracks that trick the brain from going to each side. I know you guys are probably like OK GP..... what ever you say......
But i am a big skeptic myself and the word tracks I use in certain situations do work.... it is funny. I even use them in real world situations. For instance, take my girlfriend.... I will ask her where she would like to go out for dinner? she always says, "I don't know!"...... I respond with " I know you don't know, but if you did know, where would you go?" ..... i always get a answer..... like well I was thinking Chinese..... I think you get the idea. That is just one example. I can't give all my evil secrets away, at least not on the first day of talking about this....LOL
And to answer your question Richard yes I did take the training to heart because it made sense to me. I believed in it, and I have used it. It doesn't work everytime because there are the JM's of the world ( I just miss you Buddy) but it does work.

Yeah I miss the OLD guy :P I think his middle name is Stubborn.

Don’t be so sure about that. If he even has one, it’s not apparent to most posters which one he leads with. :confuse:
I am sure JMonroe doesn't know the difference between right and left brain becaus ehe uses more left bicep and right bicep to get anything accomplished.....
See, it sounds like a couple have landed. So you ain’t confused about where I’m coming from.
Glad to hear you’ve had a good month.

Asking where to go for dinner is pretty innocent, but this course could be dynamite for seduction techniques etc......if you can always get a positive response from a right brain - left brain shift.

Haha, this stuff is becoming a reality. You're right. The money some dealerships spend on "quality control" or questionable training tactics could very well be divided into huge monthly bonuses that would motivate the sales staff to overachieve.
There's a certain training company (well there's many, but this particular one) out there that goes from dealer to dealer, and tries to sell their training to the management. They'll do their pitch, and promise that sales will increase by 30 or so %. The problem is this training (I had it at my 2 previous dealerships) costs about $5k - $10k/month and dealerships usually commit for a year or two. They have their own word tracks, special scripts with sheets to fill out for incoming phone calls, for outgoing phone calls, etc....
However because of it's overly agressive nature it really turns the sales staff off. If you're good at what you're doing, now you had to change your tactics and go strictly by the scripts. Not only that, they made mystery calls that were recorded and then analyzed, with tapes sent back to dealership management for review.
The crappy part was that if you managed to book an appointment with the fake caller, you'd end up waiting past your working hours hoping they would show up because they never told you they were mystery shopping. What a crock that was.
At my other dealership, they actually deducted $25 from each commission (not gross, but actual commission) to pay for an administrator to implement this crap. :lemon:
That company is also heavy into psychological research into word tracks that work the best on customers, and how to get favorable responses from potential buyers etc... The funny part was that anyone with a half a brain could tell these were some sort of unnatural scripts and they'd tell you to get lost of ef off right away (I would too).
I also heard that in some dealers these guys implemented an ID sized electronic voice recorders (hidden in a salesperson's ID card they wore around their neck, knowingly), that recorded every interaction a salesperson had with their showroom customers. They said this was for training purposes, and for liability, in case a customer claimed a salesperson promised them something, but really he/she didn't.
This makes recording incoming calls (which most dealers do) seem like child's play.
So it's crazy how sometimes dealers spend a crap load of money for this kind of training, only to get their whole sales staff upset, and bring morale down, with little improvement in actual sales numbers.

Excellent move, boom. No wonder you are having good months. You are putting in the work - working hard and working smart.
When I'm looking online for cars (I'm admittedly just looking but sometimes I fool myself and buy) it drives em nut when they have a stock photo or just a shot or two. Show me the interior. Give me a shot with the odometer reading. Show me how big the trunk is.... The more pictures the better.
Excellent...perform beyond expectation and your customers will love you! How could they not?

That has to make a difference. On some of those sites we looked at I got the feeling they weren't hiding anything when they showed lots of pictures. Just a few pictures made me wonder what they were hiding, and if the picture didn't match the car - like say the color was different than stated, then I was really put off. The more pictures, the more transparency.

Oh, sure. NOW you tell me!
If you want to succeed in what you do, get yourself educated, read, and find a mentor. Someone willing to mentor most often will give you provide invaluable guidance and advice for a cost far less than any of those "razzle dazzle seminars"
Very interesting, I am so glad I am not selling today. I understand wanting people to perform as well as they can, but this is a real infringement on peoples rights. What's the next step, water-boarding salespeople for missing a sale! Or, you'll have to carry a camera around with you all day so they can observe you from the tower. I am all for making money but this is a real intrusion on peoples lives, especially since it is commission sales...not like you are really being paid for that time.
2017 MB E400 , 2015 MB GLK350, 2014 MB C250
You have to be really really really good at selling to sell something of dubious value to a car salesperson.
2016 Audi A7 3.0T S Line, 2021 Subaru WRX
Now let me emphasize that it's not like that in every dealership, but rather a small percentage.
The place I work at is pretty laid back. Yeah, incoming calls are recorded, but aren't they everywhere now?
Other than that we have only one meeting a week, and that's Saturday AM when everybody's working, before we open we come in about 30 minutes early. More like a fun discussion than a stern lecture about stuff.
Speaking of meetings, I spoke with someone from another dealership who said they had manadatory 8am meetings on wednesdays and saturdays, whether you were on shift or not. :lemon:
My old Honda dealer had, and still has meetings one hour before your shift if you're working evening, and one hour after yourt shift if you work the morning.
It was frowned upon by upper management/owner if your shift ended at 3pm, and you left right afterwards if there was no meeting, as you were expected to sit till 5pm and make phone calls.

I can not only believe it, I think I can top it. I had a coworker who was going to buy a new car. She had her eye on a Monte Carlo and was "just about ready to commit" for about 15 years. If her old car hadn't been stolen she would probably still be "just about ready to commit."
I must say that her constant talk about buying a new car became a standing joke at work.

Consider how long you may be in your location. Your contract may be not only with the alarm company but also the company "selling you the installation." We were approached by an alarm firm, they try to get alarms placed at the houses at the street corner as well as one in the middle of the block, so that the alarm signs will show up to encourage others to subscribe. The installation came with a commitment to both the alarm company and to the local vendor.
Down the road, I received a job offer in NC and we had to pack up and move. The Alarm company was very nice and waived their fee. The local company was not as nice.
The desperate act of coming out with a "lifetime" powertrain warranty made me realize that they were REALLY in trouble.
Fiat left a lot of US customers high and dry without warranty coverage when they folded their tent and left the US and they built troublesome little cars.
This a company that will save Chrysler?
I wonder what Lee Iacocca is thinking about now?
For crying out loud , it takes time to buy a car and get the paperwork done.
I'll get these people who tell me they HAVE to be out in an hour. They look at their watch, pace the floor while I scramble to get things done. I have to rush the Finance Person, rush the lot attendants and short cut the delivery process. Everyone is stressed out as we frantically rush to get the deal done!
WE HATE THIS!
I had a guy like this last month. His survey comments?
" The delivery was rushed and many things were skipped over"
" The windows could have been cleaner"
" The finance lady seemed irritated and rushed"
I understand people have hectic schedules. Just don't make me a part of that!
I might be like that if I ran into a Quickie Mart for a loaf of bread. But, buying a automobile? Like a fine wine or woman, it should not be rushed... no?
even any new car,,I want to research,I look at ebay instead of maker websites.
They have the photos up,close and personal
No wonder,,more and more folks are buying cars on ebay,,unseen ,,,including me!! :shades: I bought a car located in florida and shipped it to my place 1200 miles away!!Best car purchase experience ever!! :P

Also for those who want to buy Chrysler stock, good luck its a privately owned company and the stock is not traded publicly.

U need to do your research,,check the seller`s feedback ratings, see if he has any complaints against him,,see the photos and description accurately,,and ask him questions online or on the phone.
DO a diligent smart research,,check carfax/autocheck and u are fine. :shades: .
Infact I purchased 2 cars online from ebay-- one of them a high end luxury car and both times they were perfect with fast shipping and very easy paperwork and communication ,,,Changed my outlook towards car buying!!Ofcourse I was not trading in,,so if I wanted to trade anything I would sell it to a local car dealer or to carmax :P
It always is.

it is only about a mile away from the dealer where we did not buy a car from this week.
if they had countered my offer, they probably would have had a sale.
this week, there are 3 new vehicles on my street.
a used altima, a new escape and a new carrera s.
my friend let me drive the porsche, although it only had 57 miles on it.
it is much easier to drive than his 2 previous street porsches.
He tried to warn us 20 years ago what was coming down in this country. I guess that he is thinking now about just how right he was at the time. If only we had listened. Still, it is not in our nature to heed warnings. We always feel that life will go on as usual or that it won't happen in our time. Well, the time has come.
As for Fiat, you may be right. Still, I'm going to hold out for the best. Much will depend on the new team.
Richard
hopefully chrysler won't become another GEO.
I am one of those training consultants---independently operated. I do seminars for industry on "Team Building", "Adjusting to Change", "Bad Habits in Evil People", etc. I don't use scripts, word tracks, or skill sheets. I do demonstrations, model lessons, games, and role play. I try to make the event enjoyable, informative, and use a "take it or leave it" approach. I usually insist that the CEO or company manager allow the training over breakfast or dinner. I find that employees enjoy it more at a 7 or 8 PM dinner. They tend to unwind better from the day. Training is only valuable if it contains practical and useful information. Techniques should NEVER be shoved down the employees' throats. I point this out to the employers. I don't like the thought of retribution after I leave. My contracts run from 1-3 days depending on how much training the company wants. Anything beyond three days is like dead fish---it begins to smell. I also provide an unsigned evaluation form of the seminar. So far, my ratings have been good.
I'm telling you all of this because I want you to know that not all consultants are ivory tower jerks who are just out to make a buck. A few of us feel that we can help a situation and provide a valuable service. If I have to go back because of a problem that arises out of my seminar, I don't charge for the return visit. I'll tell you one thing. I had rather do a seminar for industry than one for educators. Business people don't gripe and complain as much as educators.
Richard
their management knew it wouldn't be enough down the road.
daimler needed cash, so they worked out a 'merger'.
it was supposed to be a merger of daimler product merging with chrysler cash.
we see how that turned out.
I think that's a great idea. Very few places do it and it will set you apart. I also wish that the manufacturers sites would allow you to build your ideal car and then find the closest match rather than just the random inventory closest to you in distance. In the case of Richards black GM quest, it would have been so much simpler for the Mercury site to show that 1) none exist anywhere or 2) your dream car is in Bismarck, ND rather than having to search every dealers inventory in three states.
Amen to that!
Richard
