Yeah by about 7-10 grand. And it doesn't meet all the criteria mentioned by those in search of the perfect SUV.
Nice enough vehicle (it is a Honda) but too pricey IMO. Neighbor has one so I get to see it everyday. Vicarious thrills
I am specifically looking for a sport v6 fwd, w/ moon roof. Also, is it possible get tonnue cover ect a la carte, or is that part of a package?
Thanks
In the specs below it shows that for Rav4 Maximum Seating: 7 . However when I went to look at the car at the dealer it had only five seats and it does not look like it has third row seating. Even the person at dealership thought that the rear part was only for cargo only not people. Santa Fe is another one that comes up with maximum searing of 7. Even in the specs at some places : Total Seating Capacity : 5. Can some one help and clarify this? Also if additional seats are optional and if they are only on V6? Thanks
I dealt everything on internet first. I told them exactly what I want and I showed them Toyota invoice that I got from Edmund.com, Cars.com and KBB.com. Dealer #1 from PA gave me a price via internet, Dealer #2 in MD told me that it's a good price and could not beat it, Dealer #3 also from PA told me that they could do $100 better than dealer #1. I printed out all info and went to Dealer #4 in DE and ask if they can beat the price otherwise I will work with Dealer #1 to get the final price. The salesman took info and left, 10 minutes later he came out with his manager and told me that they can do $300 better than Dealer #1, but I have to sign the paper on the same day. I think it's a reasonable deal so I put down a deposit and told them my color preferences for them to search. Hopefully I will hear back from them soon. The MSRP for this car is $28,502, its invoice is $26,280 (including $490 Toyota advertising fee which I think is a bunch of bulls)... Dealer #1 offers this for $25,930 while Dealer #3 offers it for $25,630... So I think I am doing OK. If you are willing to wait until Mid-June to Mid-July prices will be even better yet because that's when 2008 cars start to come in.
Arm yourself with numbers first then it's easy to deal with those guys. Good luck

You'll have to read the blog to see why the photo reads like it does.
By the way how's the rear door as far as loading things...my friend has an old Trooper and it has a 60/40 rear door but this is just one big door...and talk about getting wet. I was used to the hatchback and before this a minivan so this is new to me.
The rear door does make loading/unloading in some circumstances a little more awkward but I find that just means you have to plan in advance - to open all the way, the door needs more room behind the vehicle than a hatch would, so you just make sure there's clearance if you want to do that.
I actually had a few issues when I bought my RAV. After owning a Honda Civic for close to 11 years and never having any issues outside of normal maintenance, it was so frustrating to have bought a new vehicle and immediately have to deal with....
1) Day One- The display on the radio was only half illuminated when i started the it up in cold temps, oh and it also rattled. Long story short, radio was found to be defective, dealership installed a new one. On this visit, I also told them about the other random rattling noises I hear coming from driver side window and the really annoying one from the passenger side window. my husband and i thought the window was sealed right because it sounds like a drafty, rattling noise. They asked me to try and pinpoint where and when it was happening to help them determine the cause....
2) On a nice winter day that felt that spring here in NJ, I open up my moonroof and as I'm driving, I hear this crazy noise that scared the crap out of me. Long story short, back to the dealer AGAIN, roof rack was installed wrong! I was told it could have feel off while i was driving and seriously injured me or someone around me. Splendid.....good news is it didn't cause a major accident and now it's fixed..
3) Back to Toyota I went because the rattling was so annoying and driving me crazy! Another looooong story short, they insisted it's my passenger side mirror. Said they taped up the old one where there was a "space" causing the drafty/rattling noise, no noise. took the tape off, noise was back. So now I have a new side mirror and the jury is out on whether or not the problem is completely fixed. As much as I don't want to deal with this anymore, I sat in the passenger seat yesterday and I think I still hear a draft.
Overall I really do love my RAV. If the draft/rattles continue, I will head back to the dealership again until they figure it out and fix it. Again I drove my Civic for close to 11 years, 190,000 miles never had a problem. I will not accept having any problems with my brand new RAV!
