    They have replaced the seals around the doors and lubricated them but they still rattle and the last couple of times it was in the shop, they say they cannot reproduce the noise. I have also had the steering rack replaced twice and there is still the noise and "bumping" feel in the steering wheel. I really like the car but I am very frustrated with it right now.

    I own a 2005 and it is my first minivan and needless to say I should of went with my gut instinct and bought something different. I have been so disappointed from the get go. The rattles that the dealership can never seem to permenantly fix, the dvd player going bad, whistling noises from the windshield, door panels that squeak, and a very slight clunk in the gas pedal when you start to accellerate from a stop. The list with this vehicle goes on and on. The dealership has tried numerous times to fix these issues but finally fessed up and admitted that they too believe I bought a lemon. But then in the next breath say that I do not qualify for the lemon law because I have too many miles. Now mind you they finally admitted this at 30,000 miles. Now they are trying to find me a different 2005 for an even up trade. But no luck there. So at this point I feel like I have been taken to the cleaners. And unfortunately the lemon is paid for. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to do now?

    I'm surprised your dealer is willing to swap cars for you. We have an '06 Odyssey Lemon. Both American Honda & the dealership thumbed their noses at us so we hired a Lemon Law Attorney. We tried a friendly mediation approach but Honda would rather fight in court.

    Take the trade & consider yourself lucky that your dealer has integrity - it is hard to find today.

    You may want to consider trading the '05 in for an '07 if you want a Honda again. The '07 has a new transmission & most of the bugs worked out including the droning defect.

    Lastly, all of the problems you have/had appear to be first year re-design isssues. It takes at least 3 model years to work the bugs out. Our '06 Ody has one major defect carried over from '05 but everything else seems ok.

    I had a similar experience as yours with a first year '03 Accord - it didn't qualify for a Lemon in my state. Need at least 3 unsuccessful repair attempts of the same issue. All of my issues, quite a few, were fixed on the first try.

    My 07 Ody is back at the dealership again. There is a constant rattle from the driver's side sliding door, a new rattle in the dashboard driver's side and we still have the clunking sound in the steering when turning left. They have replaced the rack and pinion three times which did not help, they replaced both front struts which did not help, they are now ordering tie rods and a bunch of other parts but they are on backorder. I will have a completely new front end when they get the parts in. I hope this works or I will pursue a lemon law. I have only had the van a few months and it has been at the shop more than in my driveway.

    I too am having this really annoying sticking/rattle sound (like something sticking to rubber) coming from my passenger side sliding door window, it kinda goes away once the window is lowered just a little. Had the dealer look at it, they ended up adjusting the sliding doors based on a TSB, but the window rattle is still there. I tried cleaning the rubber seals, etc, but no luck. something seems loose, & has to do with the window being all the way up. If someone has figured out a solution, please let me know. Also, i have had numerous other problems with this car (mostly QC related), and have been very disappointed with Honda. They have to improve their QC if they want to remain a market leader. Thanks.

    I have 1999 Odyssey with I same noise on the driver's side. On my Odyssey, if you watch the as the window is moving up to the closed position and it reaches the top of the door frame the shape of the frame changes noticeably and the noise is present. If I back the window down just a bit, until I see the frame shape change again, the noise goes away. It is my opinion that the shape of the window is different enough from the shape of the door frame as to cause the seal not to have equal contact with the body of the Odyssey when the window is all the way up.

    I don't know if your question has been answered or not, but we just bought a used 05 touring ody and it had a whining noise from the windshield. The dealer said there were 2 TSBs and is in the process of ordering parts to fix the issue.

    Regarding my rattling sliding doors in my newly purchased 07 Odyssey LX, after 6 unsuccessful tries at fixing it, the service manager went for a ride with me and heard the noise. He then told me he took 4 other LX's off the lot and test drove them and heard the noise in those new vans. He says he is in the process of working with Honda to develop a TSB - he said the TSBs they had been operating previously when they were working on the doors likely came from warm weather Honda shops, and in the cold weather, where the frame probably contracts more, those TSBs (like installing a felt liner) weren't solving the rattle. Those with this problem may want to be on the lookout for a new TSB.

    I had this in my 05' Touring driver side window. Dealer knew exactly what this was - states this is common in all Honda products. They applied a lubricant, and that took care of the problem. Stated that I could apply WD-40, or petroleum jelly (preferred).

    05 and some 06 Odyssey's had wind noise from the windshield area while driving. You may want to check out Honda Service Bulletin 04-078-could be a gap between the cowl and w/s or between the w/s and the side trim. On our 06 Honda replaced the side trim and the noise went away. epm1

    Our 2006 Honda EX-L Odyssey started having the whistling noise problem at around 12k
    It was perfectly fine earlier
    I also noticed a slight rattling noise from the drivers side door too recently

    The dealer has replaced the rubber trim around the drivers side door but it has not helped. The whistling noise appears around 55-60mph
    Any suggestions? Any bulletins out there?

    The dealer fixed my problem.The driver side mirror lining was the issue they said

    After adjusting it, the noise went away

    Have the same creaking sounds from my driver side sliding door on my '05 EXL. Mine does not appear to be related to the window. I really here mine on the initial acceleration and on stopping. Sounds like maybe there is not a good seal to the door. We bought it brand new in '04 and noticed it 3-4 months in. Had the dealer look at it several times but never any resolution. Now I'm out of warranty and it seems to be getting worse. Drives me CRAZY!!

    I have a brand new 07 odysset EX-L. When I open the front windows about 2 to 3 inches down, sometimes I here a slight rattling sound, if the road is not very smooth. If the windows are closed I dont here any sound. Is this Normal.

    Glad to find other folks complaining about windshield noise. My Honda service tech tried to fix four times and then told me no one else had ever complained of this problem. He refused to take windshield out and replace seal properly and only "patched" it. Finally after my warranty had expired, I took it to an auto glass place and replaced the windshield which fixed the problem. I'm sending the bill to Honda.

    My 2000 Odyssesy has 108K on it and has recently developed a persistant squeak in the front end that only occurs over 40 mph.
    My mechanic has checked all the belts, brakes, frontend and cna find nothing out of sorts.
    Any ideas?

    Brakes, perhaps? My Odyssey's front end was squeaking a few months ago (albeit at low speeds) and it turned out I needed a new set of brakes.

    I just picked up my Black on Black 2007 Odyssey Touring last night. On the drive home I noticed a thumping which was causing the steering wheel to shake, actually the whole car was shaking, I was like am I imaging this. Then while I was parking the van I noticed the parking sensors were not working.
    As soon as the dealer opens I will we calling I only have 30miles on this car. Has anyone else had this problem? or maybe you know what in the world is going on... :cry:

    What kind of thumping noise is it? When driving or idling? Need more info.

    I have an '06 EXL/RES/NAV and when driving over ruts or choppy highways the suspension sounds like a hollow drum. Is this what you are describing?

    It's happening when driving around 65MPH on the highway, my steering wheel just starts shaking. I guess you could say it sounds like a hollow drum. I was thinking that the tires need to be balanced. What do you think?

    I'm bringing the new ride back to the dealer Monday morning.

    I have a 06' Odyssey EXL/RES and my passenger side does the same thing. Only when it's down 2-3 inches, any lower the rattling goes away. But mine does it even when starting out really slow on a smooth road. I don't think this is normal at all, the drivers side seems to be fine.

    Hi, I have begun hearing a similar sound when starting from cold. I have a 2006 Odyssey EX. This started around 10-12k miles. It stops/goes away after 5 minutes so dealer's service dept. can't hear it. It sounds like its coming from the front, under the hood. I would appreciate your advice on getting it resolved, or whether to be concerned about it. TIA -DSEdmunds

    Honda fixed the problem with the shaking on my 07'Touring, they said I had flat spots on all four tires because the car was sitting since May.
    They changed the tires and my car seems as good as new :blush:

    I posted earlier about the front passenger side window of our 06' EXL making a rattling and popping sound when the window is opened 1-3". I took it into the dealer a week ago and complained about the problem. The service manager looked at it and said that this was normal. Normal?, if this is normal then how come none of the other 3 windows do this. His fix was to move the window down and then raise it up a bit to take up the slack in the power window motor and regulator. I told him "what kind of a stupid fix is that"? and told him that I wanted it looked at and fixed right. So he books me an appointment but it's over 4 1/2 weeks away. Now in the last 4 days the window hasn't made any noise at all, no rattles, no popping sounds. Very strange. I'll keep my appointment just in case it comes back.

    I bought a 2007 Odyssey EXL two weeks ago. Within a week I noticed, rattling in the barkes whenever I applied the brakes. (at all speeds). I went to the dealership. They repaired and front and rear brake drums. The vehicle seemed to be OK for 2-3 days. The problem has reappeared again at lower speeds when I apply the brakes. Do I have lemon?

    BTW, during my test drive I felt like there was thumping when I applied the brakes. When I mentioned it to the salesman, he did not take it seriously.

    I had the same rattle in the passenger sliding door in a new 2008. The dealer found that a bolt was not tightened on the window channel. They were able to solve the problem.

    I own a 2006 EX Odyssey with 8K miles.

    About 2k miles ago, the van started making a "clanking" or "banging" sound - located on the driver's side. It usually happens when we have just started the car in the morning. It may also happen after parking and turning off the car. The sound comes after turning the steering wheel or when switching from first to second gear. You can actually feel something beneath your feet. We think it might be the transmission or steering.

    The car has gone to the dealer twice... they can hear the sound and actually replaced a strut, but have not been able to fix it so far.

    Has anybody faced a similar problem? Any suggestions before we take it back to the dealer for the third time? Thank you

    We have a 2007 Ody with 14k on it (we travel a lot) and have taken it to our nearest dealer twice for similar problems. They claim they can't hear it or feel it. What ours does it you can feel something in the steering/pedals and/or hear a faint click/thump when turning to the left especially if there is a speed bump or some unlevel surface area. We don't know what else to do since they can't duplicate it supposedly when they have it. So I guess we just live with it. We love our Odyssey, but would really like to resolve this issue so it's more enjoyable. :confuse:

    OMGod!!! What a pain in the rear end. I had this noise for the past year and I had taken the van 3 times already. The first time they told me the seals needed lubrication and that I should clean it more presciesly. Anyhow, it solve the problem for several days. I went home 7 hrs away from the dealership and I had the problem again. Could it be the highway road that did it? I decided to take it again dec. 07 and they did not know what it was. They called Honda and the tech said that they were going to change the window regulator. They don't know if it is going to solve the problem. I am so disappointed. I don't know what I am going to do if it the problem does not go away. I feel I am getting an unfair treatment from the dealership. I feel like they think I am to picky. They told me no one else was complaining about this noise, but thank god for the internet!!!! I found out there is a lot of people out there with the same problem and it seems honda does not want to do anything about. Someone needs to write a letter to the execs. so they can have a major recall because it sucks to have a van that sounds like an OLD OLD car. Don't know what else to do!!!! I am dissapointed!!! Van's are expensive and feel it is unfair to buy something cheaply done.

    Both of my front windows rattle. It started with my front driver side - they replaced the regulator. I told them the passenger side rattles also so they looked at it, but didn't replace the regulator. But guess what? Now they BOTH rattle horribly because both door panels got taken off to look at the window problems. My advice is if you can avoid it don't let them fix them/ remove the door panels or you'll have a worse rattle.

    As for my steering sound, someone gave advice about adjusting the steering column. I tried it and so far so good! :)

    Hey Folks, this clanking noise experienced in the morning after just starting rolling is the ABS brake system conducting checks, my 07 TL Type S experiences the same thing. Our new 08 EX-L-NES does the same thing. It is a indicator that the system is working correctly. With respect to the window rattling, have not experienced this issue. My two cents. :shades:

    i have a 07 touring. the front d/s window would rattle when both open and closed - asumed it was the window guide/channel - turned out to be the switch plate.

    More recently - discovered a whistling sound - took the tech with me on a drive - appears to be the solenoid that tshuts off the cylinders in eco mode. However I have also noticed it when the eco mode is not kicking in. Also, if normal as the dealer claims why did it not occur for the first 20,000 miles??

    Also have a knocking sound when turning left mostly - also have to agree with another post about it occuring on inclines. Has anybody resolved this knocking issue - at one point I thought it was the cv joints (assuming today's cars/vans still have them)!

    I have been away from this Forum for quite a while. Interesting to see some of the posts from the past. We still have our 2006 EXL purchased in Sept 05. It only has about 13K miles on it due to mostly being used for extended family trips and local shopping. I hate to say that the post two years ago was quite prophetic. The rattles etc returned quite quickly but at least do not seem to be getting worse. Note that Consumer Reports gives these vans about the worst rating possible for body integrity. I have kept religious track of my gas mileage for the last 11K miles and have averaged exactly 20.7 mpg. On real Interstate type highway driving I get 26 mpg +/- 1 mpg. Every time that I drive the van (about once a week) I am impressed with the ride, handling and especially power. Many of the family trips here in Washington State take us across mountains which are often a little windy. It is amazing how fast you can go up some of these steep windy grades in this van. Many sedans cannot keep up. It is a nice van with great gas mileage, but I wished it did not rattle as much.

    I just purchased a 2008 odyssey ex L and only have a couple of hundred miles on it and we were driving in a side wind the other day and the door opposite the wind sounded like there was a plastice bag flapping outside the window and when we came home the opposite direction the window on the other side made the same noise. I call the dealer and he said they would look at it but they did not have a clue what it was and said it was not anything they had heard of. I went into the garage and started thumping on things and discovered that the shiney black plastic door post covers would rattle if I thumped them. I removed the two screws on the back side of them and pulled straight up and they came off easily. I had some house window foam strips with the peel off back in the garage and cut two pieces and put it the length of the trim on both back edges and put the pieces back on. It totally solved my problem and you cannot tell it is on there. I hope this helps someone else.

    My 2007 Honda Odyssey has developed a very annoying problem. Occasionally all 4 windows come down about 1”. This happens without the controls being touched and always while the car is parked, locked, and unoccupied. I don’t know if they go down when I’m closing the driver’s door or if it happens when I unlock the door using the remote. I have intentionally tried to recreate the problem without success. The Odyssey only has 10,000 miles on it and the problem has only started occurring in the last 2,000 miles. So far, this hasn’t happened when it was raining. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

    The indicator light for low tire pressure comes on when ever the temperature drops below freezing. It goes off after the tires have heated up. The dealer checked it a couple times and finally said to just ignore the indicator. Why have an indicator that is just to be ignored? Has anyone had this problem and been able to get it fixed?

    Yesterday the dealer showed me why the windows go down without the window buttons being pushed. When a person presses the unlock on the remote, then presses the unlock a second time and holds it for a bit the windows will all go down automatically. Supposedly, this is to allow the windows to be lowered when the car may be too hot to enter. [jeana]

    I hate to break it to ya, but Honda has known about this problem for years. Six years - at least. We ordered a new Odyssey in 2002. Back then, the dealers couldn't keep them on the lot so each one was individually ordered. Our new van finally came in, weeks later, and everything thing was fine. But a couple of days later, the back sliding door started to rattle. We took it to the service dept. and they tried to put some jelly crap on it. It didn't work. We took it back again. They tried stuffing some type of insulation into the door. That didn't work either. After a third trip to the service dept. (in only 8 days), they told us they didn't know how to fix the problem. "They had never heard of this". Sound familiar? We left the vehicle at the dealership - refusing to take our new car home again. We insisted that they take the car back. After we got a lawyer involved, they took the car back - and we even got our taxes, title and license fees refunded. Then we went to another dealer and ordered another one - hoping the first service dept was run by a bunch of idiots. A few weeks went by, and our new 2002 Odyssey was waiting for us a couple of miles away from the first dealer. And guess what? It had the EXACT SAME PROBLEM! We drove it once, like a test drive, and told them to sell it to the next sap on the list. We then went to Dodge and bought a Grand Caravan. We still have it. While it isn't perfect, our minor issues have been fixable.
    On a whim, we test drove the 2008 Odyssey today. The salesman said he didn't know of any issues with rattling in the new version. He made us a wonderful deal, but we decided to sleep on it. After reviewing this website, however, I think my paid off 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan will be just fine. Rest assured: Honda has know about this problem for a long, long time.

    I think that the system is actually working. When the air inside the tire is cold, it contracts, reducing the pressure. When the tires heat up, so does the air, increasing pressure. Although these are only small variations (1 or 2 psi) it could be close enough to trip the sensor. My advice? Put some more air in the tires, up to the safety limit marked on the tire, it probably is a little low.

    In our van we have the clicking sound on the passenger side. When you push on one of the plastic trim pieces that surrounds the window, it goes away. More than likely, it is a loose pressure fit piece, they use as few screws as possible so that we don't see them (in all cars). Plastic on plastic, it's going to eventually over time start to make noise.

    Hi, first post, but LONG time Honda owner..

    Has anyone found a fix to this annoying window thing? Or has Honda come out with a TSB to stop the windows from going down when you hold the unlock button.

    Honda made the remote so that you can roll your windows down. You can also roll the windows down if you hold the key to the unlock position in the drivers door for a few seconds. read your owners manual. I do not like this feature for the same reason (it rolls the window down alittle and you don't know it)

I believe I traced the noise to the thick molding that goes up the front door post between the front window and the middle-rear window. It shows as item #5-6 in the diagram that hopefully shows up here. image It appeared to be attached at the top and the bottom of the molding, but not much support in the middle, which left slack in the molding that allows it to vibrate back and forth and make this god-awful sound going down the road. I have meant to stick something (double-sided tape or padding of some sort) to see if it would indeed fix this. However, it has slipped my mind since we haven't heard the noise in a month or so.

    Hello folks - I have an 07 touring with the run flats. For a while I have been complaining to my local dealer (sav ga) about a knocking sound coming from the steering components. They told me that there was a bulletin about fuel levels in the the s/rack which they topped up. It continues to knock - particularly on a grade with a sharp turn. Also and probably connected - the steering becomes very heavy at parking speeds (intermitent problem).

    I am also getting a lot of vibration from the steering wheel at about 65mph - they have tried realigning etc but the vibration always comes back!

    There's more... whenever the VCM cuts in I hear a whistling sound coming from the (i think it's called the solenoid). The dealer tells me it's normal but it never used to do this when new!

    I have a 2000 Ody as well and it has more than 4 times the miles but has had nothing go wrong! Honda needs to get back to basics with what used to make them a natural choice!

    Has anybody had similar problems with any of the above?

    Today my wife noticed a slight rattle on the passenger side of the window. Pretty much as you describe is exactly what my thought on the issue was. When tapping on the black side piece, my wife would tell my thumping made the same tone. It appears to me, this is caused by wind buffering on the side black piece. I'm gonna try the same thing you suggested. It's funny, cause that was what I was telling her today. When you mean screws on the back side, are you saying there are screws inside the van that come out.....without looking at the van, I can't picture what screws you are talking about. thanks, joe

    Have 05 ody brought it new, past three years, I visited two separate dealers four times due to the rattling noise coming from drvier's side window. The best advise dealer can provide is to apply silicon sealant to the weather striping. They refuse to admit that this is a common issues with Odys. They said I am too picky since this is only $30k car and such noice can be expected. My other car is $15k Hyundai, never experienced such problem.

    This noise so annoying that I am paronoid everytime i ride this car. I am also convinced that this problem cannot be fixed. I will never buy another Honda again! I am going to sell this POS and visit a Toyota dealer to take a look at Sienna
