Stupid question - when calculating the residual, is that off of MSRP or off of final negotiated price?

No such thing as a dumb question - the residual is a percentage of the MSRP, or sticker price. When you negotiate a great selling price, that lowers your monthly lease payment because the depreciation is calculated as the difference between the selling price and the residual value.

If you save $2000 on your selling price, that decreases your payment on a 36 month lease by $55/mo.

Thanks! So, here's the deal I got. 2014 Premium AWD, 39 month, 15k miles/year. MSRP $53,315. Negotiated price $50,596 (got a little more shaved off of that to lower monthly payment $15/mo). Residual $29,323. Cash due at signing $1600 (first month payment of $585 plus title, registration and taxes on some rebates). Got $1800 consumer cash value and $1000 Conquest rebate.

    How did I do?

Can you please provide current numbers for a 2014 Premium Enclave FWD? Looking at a 39mo/10k miles lease. Trying to decide whether to buy or lease. Negotiated a good selling price, but the lease numbers I was provided seem high. Thanks!! (If it matters, Texas, 6.25% tax)

1.35% MF and either 53% or 56% for 39/15. Not sure how GM adjusts the residual for leases with more miles than that.

First time leasing a car (usually finance) so forgive if questions are a little basic. Looking at a 2014 Buick Enclave AWD Leather Group in NJ. Had a few other options that drove MSRP to $50,000. Edmunds gave a purchase price of $47,500. At that price for a 39 month lease at 10,000 miles, what would the lease payment be? Thanks for the help.

MF is 1.70% and the 39/10 RV is either 62% or 59%.. I get a pre-tax payment of $516.21 using your MSRP and selling price and the 59% RV.

Got an updated offer. MSRP is $49,980. Cap cost is $43,679. Quoted money factor is 0.004 and quoated RV is 56%. Payment is $499. Based on the above it seems that the money factor is high and the residual is low. Does this seem like a good offer?

    Is this still for 39/10?

You might want to check with the dealer to see if this is an Ally lease ... GM dealers can use multiple leasing sources. We only have the numbers from Ally.

Yes still for 39/10. I asked to see if they could do better as I thought MF has high and RV was low. Also asked if credit score would make a difference as my score is around 800, might be quoting a higher rate based on that.

    39/12 numbers for 2014 Enclave are 1.35% MF and either 58% (1SD) or 55% (1SL or 1SN) residual . $1300 lease cash.

There are two residuals for the Enclave this month - 58% or 55%. Pre-tax payment is either $475.22 or $514.34, so your offer of $530 with tax seems right in line.

Thanks kyfdx. I checked with a dealer today and he showed me where it was 55% from Ally. Question: On the $1,300 lease cash? On a $48,325 MSRP, they are showing a cap cost of $44,500. Do you think that would include that lease cash?

The only way to know is to ask them... Most dealers will include all incentives in the price, so they can quote as low as possible.

We don't recommend putting any money down on a lease ... if the vehicle is stolen or totaled, you are out that money.

Base MF is 1.35% and RV is 57% for 36/12, so your dealer is marking up the MF on you. There is also $1300 lease cash this month that you can use to reduce the cap cost.

With your MSRP and cap cost with the above numbers (and $0 down), I get a pre-tax payment of $430.57. If I factor in the $4K down (new cap cost of $36,200) the pre-tax payment drops to $317.22.

49,815 MSRP on leather package (selling price 47,634), but adj. cap cost is 48,838 including Maryland tax (which is charged on entire sales price), all fees, & rebates. 55 residual, 1.35 MF, 39 term, 625/month. This is my 1st time leasing and 625/mth seems to still be pretty high. Is this is good deal or does it have wiggle room?

Buick Premium FWD - 36 month - 12,000 miles - Arizona - MSRP $48,325 - looking for money factor. In talking to the dealer, he said US Bank had the best terms right now, but their rate is 2.18% and I noticed you keep showing 1.35%. Is this for US Bank as well as Ally?

We don't have the USBank numbers. The numbers we give are for Ally, only. The USBank residual could be higher, and that may be making that payment lower. USBank is usually very competitive with rates on GM models.

If the USBank lease gives you a lower payment through higher residuals, then that is the way to go, assuming you aren't planning on purchasing the car at lease end.

I am looking to get out of my current enclave lease and trade up to a newer model. I am currently paying 625 a month for my 2012 model and have 3 months left on the least. They will write me a check for the last 3 months of the lease and if I choose a 2014 enclave, I would pay 549 a month with only 1st month and dmv at signing. This monthly number has taxes rolled into it. This price is for the Enclave Leather group Forward collision alert and Lane Departure Warning and navigation. No sun roof.

    Is this a fair price?

    Thanks in advance.

The only thing that would worry me.. is they are writing you a check to cover your last 3 payments, not taking your car in trade? Wouldn't that still leave you on the hook for any lease end charges and insurance on your current vehicle, until the lease is up?
