Just bought a 2005 MDX and it only had one key and remote entry unit. Obviously Acura charges an arm and leg to buy and program. Does anyone have ideas on where to buy and how to program remote entry unit???

    Thanks for the help.

Try originalkeyless.com. they have a wide assortment of replacement remotes, plus instructions on how to program.

    Hi All,

We're pickiing up our MDX tonight and wanted to see if there's anything in particular I should make of note of when they go over everything.

It's a CPO '05 Touring with 28,5 miles No Nav or DVD. We got it for 22,9 and the 2.9% financing. This is in NJ.

Some of the points I know I want to understand are
    1. Code for Radio
    2. Bluetooth - haven't figued out whose phone we'll set up.
    3. XM Radio - Thought I saw somewhere that with the CPO you get 3 free months.

Anything else I need to pay attention to?

    Peeter

ps, I'm going to be asking more detailed questions in the near future with regard to adding reverse sensors ( I didn't care for the camera too much) and aftermarket DVD ( headrest vs overhead) so feel free to chime in with any advice.

This is very odd and only happens once every few months and not worth my time to take it to the dealer but the steering wheel mounted radio controls on our '04 go haywire from time to time. The volume "up" button turns the volume down and vice versa. The "mode" button becomes the "channel" button and vise versa and then the next time I get in the car everythings back to normal. Has this happened to anyone else's '01-'06 MDX? :confuse: . Is my car possessed?

    Hello all-

I am leaning towards purchasing a used (2006-2005) MDX but also considering the Pilot. What do you think the financial incentives will be post-labor day?

Any 0% for 36 month financing, or extending 0.9% for more than 36 months?

And anything I should be evaluating between the pilot and mdx other than cost?

    Thanks

Just bought the above MDX with 35K miles for $22,900 with 0.9% financing and an extra set of all season mats.. I asked the dealer to include three key fobs and although he gave me four of them, he only set up two and said that only two could be used at a time. I understand that there are only two memory presets but I would use the third fob just to open and close the doors. Three of the fobs say Memory 1 or Memory 2 and give instructions on pushing the lock and unlock buttons to link/unlink the memory seat. The fourth fob says nothing about a memory seat and just says Omron Corporation Japan in this same spot. The two remotes that work are one Memory 1 and the odd fourth remote. Has any one had success linking more than two remotes with a 2005 MDX? Perhaps my fourth remote is a non-touring model remote and I can use this while I program a Memory 2 remote too. The FCC IDs are the same on all four. Just for the data base, I paid an additional $950 over the above price to extend the cerified warranty from 5 years after in-service date to 7 years (AcuraCare) with no deductible. They wanted to sell me a higher priced non-AcuraCare warranty but I told him I would buy a Santucci warranty and they came down to this price.

I bought an acura mdx on 08/14/07 and it was a 2007 w/nav and ent. I found out after I had possession that they slipped me a model made in Sept 2006. It has a window sticker marked "DEMO PROGRAM DO NOT SELL" in big black letters. Also where the crash test ratings are. It says "Not Yet Rated" and all stars are light gray, not dark like current MDX stickers.

Besides many problems with the vehicle I am very unhappy.
The build quality is bad, seams coming apart, rattles, squeaks, noises, banging underneath front end, etc,

After taking it from the dealer I drove away for a 21/2 week vacation. Nothing but greif. Always pulling to the right, shaking wheel after 55 mph. When I brought it in for service one month after I got it they changed right wheel bearings. Now out the dealer it still has issues. Right back in. Now left front struts , then they send me a card in mail that says I have a torn boot and must come back in??. I do then back out and back in again. They say nothing wrong. I take to another dealer. They find problem right away and show me a TSB dated while in possession of the last service with my dealer. While fixing they call me with another needed repair. I fax them invoice that my dealer did that already. not true! They then did the repair.

I have more gripes but have asked dealer and acura to take it back and give me another one. What do you think?? I have lemon law attorney who says I am close to that process now but the fact remains. They screwed me. They gave me a car they had in stock from Nov 2006 until me at August 2007. Where has this car been? In the sun? outside? Is this 'new". Is this a"demo".
? Either way this car did NOT QUALIFY for the 5 star crash test rating. This has been admitted to me buy Acura. They can't retrofit either. Didn't they then provide me a car other than what was advertised?/

No matter what I have had 2 prior MDX vehicles, 2001 and 2004 and 2 other Acuras. I have had more repairs on this 2007 MDX than I did with all the others put together. Even Acura knows this. They checked and could see all of my services for the past 13 years. Perfect score with NO problems, Nothing broken,

    HELP!!!

Please feed me some more juice so I can get Acura to settle this already and give me another vehicle.

Thank you for reading and any advice or info you can provide me.

I know my reply to this post is somewhat out of date, but I just read it. My 04 MDX does EXACTLY the same thing. It only happens occasionally, and I've never mentioned it to the dealer (it's out of warranty and I don't want to pay out of pocket). But it IS odd!!
  • upstatedocupstatedoc Member Posts: 710
Same here, out of warranty and even if it still was covered, it happens so infrequently that I doubt I would bring it in. It hasn't been "possessed" since the original post!

BTW, how's the tranny on your '04? Mine is approaching 60k miles and OK so far. I've heard that Acura will extend the warranty for a shoddy tranny in the MDX's

I had the same exact problem with my 2003 MDX--it is defintely fixable. The problem is a wire that runs down the steering column and , as I recall has a bad ground or something. My dealer said it was fairly common. I had it fixed under warranty, dealer said it would have been about $200 because its labor intensive.

After carefully reading the owners manual regarding fuel recommendations, I decided to try 87 octane after spoiling it for the last 5 years with 93 oct.(no 91 around here). I can report after the 3rd tank of 87 ($1.79/ gal) that the mileage hasn't changed and I can feel no appreciable difference in performance. The manual says I may notice "knocking" and/or decrease in performance but does not say anything about harming the engine. Still, I am reluctant to make a total switch. :confuse:

You can only program up to 3 remotes per car... two of them are linkable to the driver seat position and the third can only be used for locking/unlocking.
  • tyggertygger Member Posts: 59
You should be able to buy a key from the Acura parts department (w/ a T5 on the key shank), get it cut and programmed from them for about $20. If your replacement key does not have a T5 on the shank, the service dept would have to program your key at the cost of approx $100 (might as well buy a new one from the parts dept.) You can buy a key fob from ebay (used or generic, but guaranteed to work), and program it yourself for free:

    1. Insert the key in the ignition
    2. Perform steps A, B, C below 3 consecutive times, performing each cycle within a 5-second timeframe.
    A. Turn the ignition switch to the ON prosition (where instrument panel lights are on, without starting engine)
    B. Press the UNLOCK button on the transmitter and release.
    C. Turn the ignition switch back to LOCK, leaving key in ignition.
    3. Within 5 seconds, turn the ignition to ON.
    4. Press the UNLOCK button on the same transmitter and release. The power door locks should cycle (locks then unlocks) to confirm
    system is in programming mode.
    5. Within 10 seconds press the UNLOCK button on the same transmitter again and release. The power door locks will cycle to confirm
the system accepted the transmitter codes.
    6. Repeat step 5 for your second and third transmitters, if applicable.
    7. Turn the key back to LCOK and remove key to exit programming mode.
    8. Test the remotes.

Will I didn't really need the NAV and RES but I just bought one for $19800 last week with 56K miles, and went with the Honda Financing incentive as well. I don't really like dvd base navigation, but I ordered the latest dvd anyway to give it a try. I do like the back up camera and the memory seats! I would have got a Honda Pilot, but the Acura dealer really wanted to be competitive. I didn't really want black, but the carfax was clean so I went ahead and will put up with the color.

Just wanted to know if this is a good price for an '06 Touring w/NAV and RES. 35K miles. One owner, carfax certified. No visible problems, car appears to be have been well cared for.

    Thanks!

You can appraise it here and plug in the options, color and zip code to dial it in.

And check the Acura MDX Prices Paid and Buying Experience discussion for other people's deals.

I am looking to get a certified Acura MDX Touring 2006 (No DVD, No Navigation) with 25,000 miles. I am being offered a price of $22,750 (excluding TTL) by a Acura dealer - is this a good price? Vehicle has a clean carfax history report and it is "Acura Certified Pre-Owned" vehicle... Anything I need to be aware of like recalls etc on this model. Please comment and I am looking for help or advice. Thanks.

Hi - looking to purchase an 06 MDX (approx 35K miles)...have never owned an Acura - what can I expect in scheduled maintanenece costs (ie. $$$ and how often)?

I too am looking to program my 2003 MDX doors to lock automatically. When we test drove one, the doors locked automatically. The dealer said it was a feature we could program ourselves. I bought the car from a different dealer and forgot to request this be done. Does any one know how to program the doors to lock by them selves?

I have a 2001 MDX. It sometimes won't start. I took it to a mechanic and he said it was the immobilzer but he can't work on anything computer because acura is proprietary. I tried the other key but that didn't work either. Is there a way to get around it? If not, how much should it cost to fix it?

looking to buy a 2004 MDX with 48K. dealer is offering it for $13,998. is this a
good buy? I am currently in the process of selling off my 2008 honda odyssey.
going from lease to buy so in 3 years i can be paid off. Is this a relaible used
    vehicle to consider purchasing?
  • frugalduranfrugalduran Member Posts: 3
Our 2003 MDX with close to 90,000 miles has been great. At about 50k miles we had battery problems. Don't know what the street value is, but the car is very reliable.
  • upstatedocupstatedoc Member Posts: 710
That sounds like a pretty good deal my '04 has 69,000 miles on it and the BMW dealer was only going to give me $12k for it. Watch out for tranny problems though, have someone check the tranny fluid for metal shavings.
  • 10sfan10sfan Member Posts: 136
This is a very low price. Get a Car Fax report and also see if you can get information from the Acura dealer on its prior maintenance, etc.. Only real possible concern is the transmission.
  • jms112997jms112997 Member Posts: 2
i think that is a great price. I have a '04, just rolled 175k miles, yes 175k. What are these tranny problems people are talking about? mine shifts as the day it came off the line, but i'm a service freak.
  • scottinkyscottinky Member Posts: 194
but found another 04, local. has 141k on it. drove it yesterday, tight as a drum.
had tranny replaced at around 80k. interior is in fabulous conditiion, everything works. guy told me to take it overnight, have it inspected, etc.. He is asking
11.9k. how much life could I expect to get out of this? I drove 18-20k per year.

I just replaced my original tires on an '06 MDX at 73,000 miles. I decided to stay with the original tires due to the performance in MPG and life of the tire. Prior to the tire change I was getting 20 - 22 on the highway and 16 - 18 in town. I am now getting 12 - 14 all the time. Any suggestions as to what might be the issue?
  • jms112997jms112997 Member Posts: 2
It is definitely not the tires, (i'm assuming you would notice if they are literally 'flat' right now, they would have to be to have that much drop in MPG). I just put on my 4th set of Cross Terrains (187k). So if the tires are properly inflated, you are now talking fuel delivery, and you either ran some very bad gas (OR accidentally E85...which happens often, people aren't paying attention), OR your fuel filter is clogged. My wife ran E85 accidentally once in her suburban and I'm not kidding, the avg MPG went from 13.4 to 8.5. did you fill up the day you had the tires put on or right around then? It is not tires, merely coincidence that you had them done when you're getting this bad of gas. and i still get the same MPG you are stating heading towards 200k miles!!
  • upstatedocupstatedoc Member Posts: 710
73k miles on the original tires?!? that's awesome, we only got 40k on the C/T's on our '04. Even worse w/ the Latitudes on our '07. Only 25k there.

Has this change started with the winter months? I noticed that the average mileage dropped by 2 mpg's with the "winter mix" gasoline. :confuse:
  • hcrossinghcrossing Member Posts: 9
The change happened on Christmas day when one of the tires experienced a hole in it while driving to family. We changed all the tires the next day and continued our trip. It has been a night and day difference ever since. I could understand dropping from 20 to 18 but to get 12 to 14 on the highway doesn't add up.

Had my 2007 MDX since purchased new, have approx 30,000 miles on it and never had so much as a hiccup. Just came back from a trip from Tampa to NYC and half way through the trip the nav started acting up. At first it would just blink out (shutting off the radio / cd as well) and then come back asking me if i wanted to resume the trip. Later it would blink out shutting down any audio / video running and then request me to re-enter the code. Finally the last 2 times it's happened it seemed as if the entire cars electric system winked out and on (felt loss of power and interior / exterior lights blinked on / off) Has anyone heard of anything like this?
