2017 Honda Accord Deals and Prices

Please post about your deals and quotes in this discussion.

Out the door is a great way to negotiate, but please include the selling price and fees when you talk about your quotes and deals. We all have different fees and taxes and it's hard to compare OTD numbers across different states.

It also helps to list your city and zip code(s) that you are shopping in.

thanks!

ANyone bought a 2017 EX with Honda Sensing yet? Looking for price points.
ALso @stever When you say its best to negotiate OTD prices why is that? Isnt the Tax non-negotiable. Title and LIcense has some negotiable fees but really I havent been able to negotiate these down. $150 doc fee, Title (all in) approx $80, plus a variable inventory fee (on my acura mdx 2016 new 43k car it was .25% - $90)
  • steverstever Guest Posts: 52,454
Hey @speedy19, the taxes are fixed but the fees and other gotchas aren't. Focusing on the out the door number is code to the dealership that you don't want to play games negotiating tint, wheel locks, protection packages, extended warranties or any other junk (if you do want some of that stuff, just figure what it's worth and roll it into the selling price you are comfortable with, and then add the taxes on top of that).

If you have a good dealer who doesn't try to load deals up with junk fees, it won't matter, but that's not the usual case it seems.
  • steverstever Guest Posts: 52,454
@speedy19, just looked up numbers for Houston (I think you're in TX? Or was it Orlando?).

Invoice is $26,170, MSRP is $28,365 and the TMV average is $27,551. That's for the EX with Sensing and those numbers include the $835 destination, plus the invoice number is inflated by $150 thanks to an ad fee that consumers shouldn't have to pay. Here's the link.

Texas dealers aren't that aggressive (I hear it's a little better in Dallas). In Florida, they stick buyers with crazy doc fees.

It's early days for the 2017s and it looks like the dealers are splitting the difference between invoice and MSRP.

Often cash has the opposite effect. Dealers make money putting financing packages together, so it's often better to finance with the dealer. Then just pay it off in a few weeks if you don't want to have payments.

We show dealer invoice to be $22,030, including the $835 destination. (You may have to click on "Get True Market Value® Pricing" to see the numbers).

Going rate (TMV average) for NOVA is $500 over invoice.

Hi, It's nice to see all the helpful people here. I'm in Richmond, VA. and would travel 2hrs or so to get a great deal on a 2017 Accord Touring. What is considered a good deal on a 2017 touring model. Do you guys think it would be possible to get a sales price of $28,500-$29,000 before TTL? I have recieved internet pricing from a couple of dealers in the 31,500-32,000 range. Any room to negotiate on the internet pricing, or is that considered rude? I don't need this car tomorrow, so are better deals to be had in the next couple of months, you think?

    Thanks for all answers.

2017 Pricing will get better with each passing month. Invoice w / destination on the 17 touring is $32,678

1500 plus below invoice price after doc fee's are compensated into price is a real good deal today. What your asking for @$28,500 dealers wont sell and will just hang up on you.

Since time is on your side I would call on Sept ,29th and 30th your 10 / 15 targeted dealers. Go thru the Int dept. tell each dealers Mgr. that for 2k below invoice on your choice 2017 touring model you buy it that day Holding with a credit card deposit.

Repeat process at the end of OCT then NOV and you will make a great deal on a 2017 model especially if you target some MD dealers where pricing is the best in the country on Accords.

Your leverage is when your emailing and calling dealers they know you will buy vehicle that day.

Key wording is not asking for dealers best price....... Its I buy today for X- price or I negotiate with dealers willing to come close to my buying price.

Good luck post how you make out

After months of research, I received an offer a 2017 Accord sport for $22500, I will try to negotiate and bring it down to $22000. MSRP is $26,050. Location is northern California.

We don't have TMV for the new Sport yet. Automatic I assume?

Invoice is $23,909, so you're already $400 below invoice on the latest and greatest.

Doing good! We'll ring the bell if you get down to $22k even. :)

@stever did not calculate your 2017 Accord sport offer correctly. I agree with him thou.. hold out till the end of this month................... 22k may be in your cards.

Looking at your offer @22,500 it does put you at $1405 below invoice using Nada's pricing invoice of $23,908. @Edmunds is always 1 dollar cheaper on there invoice pricing.

    @Stever

Your calculator forgot to carry over the 1..... Mine does that all the time.

Looking at the 2017 pricing numbers in CA on Accords $1200 to 2000 below invoice price with a little dealer incentive money we don't know about is a good start on 2017 models.

The midsize class is stacked with competition and really good pricing coming from Kia , Hyundai , Toyota , Nissan. Mazda and Subaru midsizers are not factors at this point in pricing.

MD, VA, DC, followed by MA. area should be in this range . I'm waiting on some feed back from a few buyers in these area's and will post what pricing were seeing .

Edmunds TMV pricing most of the time is way off . Deals are so much better than its price guide.

True -Car pricing is a much better indicator..... Edmunds needs help with TMV

Which one you guys think is the better deal? Sorry that I put this in the 2016 purchase area also. Just realize that no one has posted there in like a year.

    2016 Touring with 11,000 miles
    Honda certified with 7yr/100k warranty
    $28,850 Plus TTL

    or

    2017 Touring with 5 miles
    Factory Warranty
    $30,178
    govern. Fees $60.75
    Proc/Doc Fees $459.00
    Taxes $1355.94

    OTD-$32,053.69

Should I be surprised that the 2016 is not price a little lower. I think that for a difference of only $1328 difference the new vehicle is the better deal. I also have an appointment on Friday 9/30 with a dealer 1hr away who knows the best price I have so far, and they say they will beat my written proposal by at least $500.

2017 EX w/ Sens invoices at ...............................$26,020. Very Limited model this month . Dealer will not go out of way for you................ probably will need to order right now.

Either wait another month to buy or / order vehicle on the last day of this month. I would Round up 10/ 15 dealers in your area and ask for a 1000 below invoice price on the last day of Sept, if no dealer will sell that low make your best deal this month or try again next month .

By end of Oct there should be more stock on dealers lots.

We just bought 2017 Accord EX-L V6 for $29,399 OTD. This is for transfer tag, no trade and cash purchase in North Florida. Car came with tint, mud guards, pinstripes, weather mats, cargo tray, wheel locks, Diamon Fusion protection, lifetime powertrain warranty, and 1st oil change free. Tax here is 7% and there's a ridiculous $900 dealer fee. Let me know how I did and hope this helps someone to negotiate.

Florida is notorious for outrageous doc fees. The paint protection is also a big profit center for dealers. And to top it off, there's a big ad fee there for Accords ($741!).

That said, invoice with destination is $29,830 for a St. Pete zip, so you go all the extras and the taxes and the fees for $400 less than that, so it sounds like you did just fine, @sailfish2006.

    Congrats on the new ride.

8 months of searching and continuously reading these forums, I finally purchased a car. Huge shoutout to brian125 and stever for the advice and tips. The dealer offered me an aggressive offer but said each Car has different accessories that must be paied. Luckily the one I wanted only had wheel locks and 3M protection film. I test drove the car and noticed a strange whistle sound in full acceleration. The sales person said it's normal, but I had to test drive 2 other Accords to assure it was normal. Anyway, the car is a 2017 Accord Sport in Orchid Pearl.
    MSRP: $26050
    Selling price: $22,000
    OTD was: $24,738

Is this is good deal for 1.9% apr for 60 months? Thanks
  • steverstever Guest Posts: 52,454
Assuming this is the automatic transmission, invoice is $24,821 and the True Market Value average price paid for your area is $25,650. Those numbers include the destination.

So yeah, very good deal at $1,800 below invoice. Good interest rate too.

I also got 1.93% APR, 60 month financing at the dealership. They initially said that deal is only available for 2016 models, but ran a report and were happy to beat competitive rates from another bank.

Invoice is $32,678, MSRP is $35,665 and the True Market Value average price paid for your area (I picked an Oakland zip) is $34,094. My numbers also include the $835 destination.

So your selling price quote looks terrific, about $1,700 below invoice.

Thank you, everyone for the posts in this forum. Like many others, I've read and learned a lot about buying a new Accord. This forum prevented me from paying too much over Labor Day weekend for a 2017 Accord Sedan in Touring trim, asking right at invoice. I waited until the last couple of days of the month, used the strategies here about shopping dealer quotes, and found exactly the car I wanted within a two hour drive:

2017 Accord Sedan Touring, Silver: 43 miles

    MSPR w/dest: $35,665
    Invoice w/dest: $32,678

    Sale price w/dest: $30,356
    Doc fee: $169
    ERT fee (IL tags): $25

    Trunk liner, wheel
    locks, splash guards: Free

    IL Sales tax: $2,215
    Cook County tax: $15
    IL Title & License $196

    Out the Door: $32,976

Paid cash, no financing. This was the lowest quote from a dozen dealerships in Illinois and Indiana, but there when I arrived, there was a hard press to sell a package of options for $1,600. I refused and told them to take it all off. We agreed on a price with no options installed. But ended up going with a car (silver) at their sister dealer, which the salesman went to pick up himself. That dealer had already installed the wheel locks, splash guards and trunk liner, so salesman threw them in for "free". Long day, but overall excellent experience. Thanks again.
