I'm getting a deal for $295 with taxes and everything for leasing a Civic Sedan Touring 2017 in the Chicago area. The drive off is 527 which includes first payment plus title and doc fees (i will use my own plates).
Is that a good deal? the negotiated price was $22,944 incl destination fees.

With those prices, I get $251/mo before tax.

Is this Chicago, or the suburbs? I ask because the lease taxes in the city are pretty high, when coupled with the IL state taxes.

Also, ask the dealer what the adjusted cap cost is - this would be the selling price plus any taxes or fees that you are not paying up front.

I don't think the bank funding the lease will allow the 25/50 limits. Likely to be 100/300. But, check with your insurance company for specifics.

When I plug those exact numbers into my home grown spreadsheet calculator, I get $253.43/mo before tax.

The screen shot assumes the acquisition fee is added to the selling price - when I do that, I get $270.60/mo

And, I believe that IL assesses sales tax against the sum of the payments - you can choose to pay it up front (we don't recommend that), or you can add it to the cap cost, which then subjects it to interest but you won't risk losing that money if the car is stolen or totaled before the end of the lease.

In your example, the total lease tax is $877 - if I add that back into the $23,539 (selling price + acq fee), and re-run the payment, I get $296/mo - only $1 more than your calculations.

There isn't a set penalty. They sell your car at auction, and you owe the difference between the amount realized and the payoff. It could be thousands of dollars.

You've only had the car a month?

Not much you can do. Take it to CarMax and see what they will offer for it. The difference between that trade value and the payoff value is what you'll owe. Call Honda Finance for the payoff.

Nope. It's a used car - the remaining payments in the lease have nothing to do with the value.

There is a payoff (call the bank for that number), and there is the trade value.

The agreed upon residual value is also added into the payoff amount.

Instead of calculating the payoff, simply call Honda Finance and have them quote you a number.
