I'm calculating a goal number to negotiate for a hatchback sport touring. Is $0 down, $340/month a fair number for 12k miles, 36 months in SoCal? MSRP is 28,300. Or should it be lower around $0 down, $280/month? Thanks! Sorry if my numbers don't make sense. I'm on the way getting a right one. Thanks again!

Sorry but I'm Joyner sure how to reply the previous post...if I should.

A few questions:

1. I'm calculating based on $28,300 MSRP, 57% residual, 9% tax in SoCal. I also have the question on what's the typical room that can taken off from the calculated selling price, is it ~6%?

2. So say the residual 28,300*0.43=12,169
=> 12,169*1.09 = $13,264 is in my mind is the total I should be paying for the 12k miles, 36 months ($13,264 is called the selling price?)
I'm not sure what's the typical room that can be discounted from $13,264 though...any thoughts? Is it ~6%?
TTL would be around $550 which is negotiable or I don't mind paying that at drive off.
For MF...I can pay up to 7 deposites to lower that to 0.0008, if I'm correct about that...? Or it's MF=0 after the deposit?

You are not accounting for the "rent charge" (aka interest) in your calculations. Use this link to build a complete lease calculator:

We don't track selling prices - read back through the last few pages of this thread to see what others have been able to obtain as a discount from sticker. Or, use the 'make / model / year' pull downs at the top of the screen to link to the TMV tools.

Honda does not offer an MSD program.

The "1% of MSRP should be your lease payment" rule is not 100% accurate. It depends on the discounting, the MF, the residual and the tax situation. Sometimes you can beat that target; other times, you can't.

It's not a rule; it's an estimate.

And, like I noted earlier, it varies from model to model.

If you try to go into any lease deal expecting to hit that target, you'll likely be disappointed more often than not.

Which is why we don't really talk about it.

I've been leasing vehicles for almost 30 years - never heard of this 1% thing. If I had used that "rule" on the two vehicles I am currently leasing, my total of payments would be $100 higher each month. My advice is to lease high residual vehicles, negotiate lowest possible sale price, and qualify for the lowest money factor. Do those 3 things and you'll get great lease deals.

Some dealers just won't remove accessories off of a car but they're willing to discount the cost of those accessories by 25% for example. If someone has to buy a car with accessories, what is a fair price percentage to pay for the accessories? As useless as they may be, they have to have some value right?

So got this from one dealer. Aside from the ADM (Doc Fees) which I refuse to pay unless it's backed out of the selling price, there is no discount from his 2% holdback.

My figs look like this or am i being too greedy:

I am getting $253/mo with their numbers, including tax. Not sure why they show $263.67 - I would confirm the adjusted cap cost with them.

The monthly is also 257 including tax
And tag. Also my cars are equipped with wheel lock and Nitro in the tires. Nothing will change when you show up.
