no rust, but picture of a rust spot. Has new alternator, but needs an alternator. But at least it has new breaks!

I like the hidden headlights: I stopped by this morning to check out the MB selection, which was larger than normal. Mostly neglected old barges far beyond redemption, but a W201 looked interesting. Early (84) car, advertised as a 5-speed, in great colors, and looked nice. Of course, it was an automatic (this pic and all others from the listing): I suspect this was a repaint, as it was just a little too nice for an indicated 225K. But a quality job, I couldn't find seams, and it matched the original color. Blue green on beige is a great color combo. This car had been cared for - it had the original service book with tons of entries, including years of mpg data by the original owner. Interior was fairly immaculate, too. Still a decent little car, even though Shifty hates the 2.3. Also of note in the rarity dept, this Audi Fox, far from immaculate: Late run Nova looked decent enough: Big old grandpa truck was also pretty decent for a 42 year old rig. It had factory cruise, which has to be rare: The other stuff there was as expected - numerous turn of the century Audis, some old Volvos, a 2003-4 Range Rover, miled up Honyotas, turn of the century domestics - lots of beaters to last someone 6 months, but nothing else of special interest.

That truck would likely make someone some money. Just gotta toss the bed cap, replace side mirros, and get it running right. As long as no rust, it could be a $6k-$7k rig.

No rust. That's the fun part around here, unless a car isn't local or has really been neglected, like intentionally mistreated, there won't be much rust even on old metal. Even that Squire had no visible bubbling, just the surface rust on the one fender.

The Nova was apparently running and driving, if it has issues, it will say on the windshield.

What the ....?????, chapter 1 - First time I've seen a damaged suspension listed as a feature....

What the ...????, chapter 2 - so there is something really wrong.

"the convertible top stopped going down (was told it needs hydraulic fluid in the reservoir). "
What the ...????, chapter 3 - a $10 fix, undone? I don't think so. These car were infamous for having tops that could not be make to work right. Co-worker had their 9-3 repurchased by the dealer (lemon law) because of it.

There is a beautiful modified version of one of these that shows up at the annual car cruises. The owner made his own version of a Ranchero out of it with interior that suggests is was originally targeted for marine use.

Maybe a home-hobbyist could make it salvageable. If it were mine, I'd turn it into a kind of hot-rod Panel Delivery style. That eliminates a lot of $$$ interior work and faux wood cladding restoration (and some glass work perhaps), and keeps it simpler.

I remember a Chevy dealer sales guy who was a friend of my dad's and knew I was interested in cars with some punch calling me up to have me test drive a police package civilian Nova with the 350 they had taken in trade. I think it might have been a '76 or '77 model. It was quick enough for the times but the prison-cell interior did nothing for me.

There was an article on that era Nova in Collectible Automobile. John DeLorean got involved with it shortly before it's design release (He had become Chevrolet GM). He wanted some European touches and even added in the front end from the 70 Camaro to that vehicle. I wasn't aware of that before.

hard to say. You'd almost have to auction it to find out market value, as so few cross the block. Figure a nice one with a 350 is worth $12K or so, and then you add ???? for a big block? A few years ago, you couldn't give these cars away, so I don't know how much a big block changes all that. What is that, a '70?
I'll take a stab and say it would bid up to the mid $20Ks, but I really have no basis other than gut feeling. I think one sold at Barrett-Jackson for more but it was a 4-speed.

Funny that it was posted in the Craigslist 'general' section with the buckets of nails and used lawn furniture. From the picture background the owner must be a collector so why wouldn't he post it with cars and trucks?

Those '70s battleship Lincolns do nothing for me but I suppose they have their fans. That looks like a nice one as those things go, though I'd sure like to see some interior shots. $6K is probably not too far out of line if it is as the ad says, but I can't imagine that driving it would be much fun.

6K for that old Lincoln doesn't seem too crazy anyway, if it is as nice as described. Seems like a relatively unusual color.

That hacked up Prelude can't be too stable. I have seen period conversions on 1st gen models, but don't recall one for the 2nd or later - seems Celicas were more popular for that treatment.

Given that big dent on the top of the passenger door, I suppose it is possible. Hard to say for sure in the time I saw it. Considering the age (very young) and demeanor (stupid) of the two boys in the car, I would say that anything is possible!

My guess is that it means zero in the car world. EVen a deduct IMHO since it drastically limits the buying pool. As for sports collectibles world? Maybe. Would take up a tremendous amount of space in the trophy case, however. I know at least 1 person who would love it. (No, not me)

That would make a great bullpen car for bringing relief pitchers in from beyond the outfield fence. I miss the days when most teams had golf carts with logoed baseball cap roofs used for that purpose.

That's the full size Jeep pickup, based on the old Cherokee chassis. I remember a comparison test near the end of it's run, did very well against the Big 3 4WD pickups.

wow. cool that they made it for so long, a 1989 cab fits right on a 1975 chassis, and matches fine! And must be an unstoppable beast that will outpull anything. School bus engine? Should have enough torque!

1993 me had something like this as a dream car - Looks to be sitting too low, which might not bode well. Looks nice otherwise, I think this might have been the last model year of MB sold here with a mechanical odometer. Rear badge is wrong, no such thing as a car badged "S600C".
