Money Factor and Residual values

Hello experts. Does the residual value and money factor numbers change month to month? Depending on the numbers. I could buy a more expensive vehicle with a higher residual and have a lower or equal lease payment to a car with a lower residual and price? Or do I have this all wrong. My last lease I feel I payed a lot more than I should have. So this time I want to get it right. Thanks in advance for the expert advice.

    Hi - I understand what the Money Factor is, how it applies to a lease, and how to use it in my calculations but the component I’m missing is from where does Edmunds get the information on the MF’s you provide on various vehicles? I recently had a dealer tell me “those are fake numbers” when I pointed out their MF was considerably higher than yours ( and I have great credit) and while I DID NOT believe him, I could not rebut with the source of your numbers. I assumed that it’s what the manufacture charges the delership for their cars, but you know what they say about assuming...Thanks!

    The money factors are set by the manufacturer and the leasing bank.

    It's confidential dealer information. They know you can't prove it, and you know they are lying. So, why not just find another dealer?
