MBs have the hold feature too, on E-class since maybe 2010. I actually like it a lot, as the distinguished professional traffic "engineers" in this region seem to have a fetish for unsequenced stop lights, and it is also handy on hills. It doesn't engage until the brake pedal is depressed beyond the point needed for a stop, so one really doesn't have an issue with unwanted use. It also disengages with a slight tap of the throttle.

Funny thing, the old fashioned foot operated parking brake was in E-class until 2016. I believe the current model is electric.

I feel like many who are graduating college and entering the workforce get a bad reputation. Congrats to you all who have raised successful kids & kids who have successful grandkids. Yesterday my wife and I attended an engagement party for a girl whose family she used to babysit for. The girl, now a woman recently graduated from Duke Law School. Her and her fiancée (also a Duke Law Grad). They’ve enlisted in the US Air Force and are going to get married in August. Her father was murdered on September 11th. Her older sister is seeing someone and living on her own in Boston, and her brothers (twins) are attending Tufts University as undergrads.

I have found in life....if something has an advantage, it probably has a disadvantage.

I also learned, don't give new technology to an old fossil who doesn't adapt. I did it, I learned, I won't do it again. The dinosaur buys the low tech wannabe car so he won't have to learn.

I wouldn't try that. It has nothing to do with the seat belt. It has to do with the car being in motion and the door opening - backwards or forwards!

the 2017 E400 has electric braking, the parking brake comes on automatically when you put the car in PARK. That is nice because normally no one uses the parking brake unless possibly parked on a hill. This way the Parking Brake gets used too.

I doubt if the guy in the wannabe car has this feature........way to high tech for him to grasp.

From all I've read, Genesis, is light years ahead of Lexus, BMW, and MB is the effectiveness, simplicity, and intuitiveness of their electronics.

And yet, once people buy them they find they aren't quite the same. My friend got one....he now has an S8 as his main car, the Genesis was to be his winter car. Hated it, he was impressed at first with all the extras, got bored of it and got rid of it 6 months later....with a heavy loss.

Going into a G80 or G80S, the smart thing to do is lease it. They have great leases but resale values are still a bit skimpy. They have great ratings but leasing is the way to go on that car.

Don't knock the Hyundai Accent, excellent vehicles! My middle girl still has her 2008 Accent GLS and it's doing great. Only one issue in year four, broken brake light switch, fixed under warranty and I was home within two hours. Since then, only a battery and tires I bought for a gift. The new ones are even better than hers. Yes, bare boned vehicles but for some folks, it's the perfect vehicle. And if I had to buy & drive a new 2018 model, I wouldn't be insulted one bit as they have SiriusXM and back up cameras now. They're no longer penalty boxes by any stretch!
I know for me, they are the perfect size and just a shame they discontinued the 5 door version but, I'd happily take a sedan. Will probably test drive one when I go see the Elantra GT in a couple of weeks just to see how one with every option drives. For my next vehicle, thinking "cheap to keep" ain't such a bad idea, and one thing about Korean and Japanese vehicles is that they are, "cheap to keep"!

I wouldn't try that. It has nothing to do with the seat belt. It has to do with the car being in motion and the door opening - backwards or forwards!

I’m not telling you to try it. I’m telling you it works. I’ve been doing this since my Dad had an ‘07 X5 with the 1st beer tap shifter. I do it on our Pilot too. The car thinks that since your belt isn’t buckled, that you will fall out of the car since the door is open. Keep your belt buckles and you can open the door to back into your space.

That was what my brother had, before I sold it for him. I drove it, I have been in it....I for sure don't have a burning desire to own one.

I may be misunderstanding, but, I don't think you can do that in a newer....after 2015 BMW. Whether the seat belt is done up or not, the car will suddenly stop - IF THE DOOR IS OPENED WHILE MOVING.

It is late, I am tired, I played a great game of tennis today, I worked on my brothers Power of Attorney, and did a few other things....so I might be misunderstanding.

Thank you driver 100 and J Monroe for clarifying I’m here but I missed ha ha Ha really appreciate it guys the accent is a good little whore my dad had one report for $1500 back in 2005 was a 99 with. To 100 pounds in miles on it wasn’t perfect but he drove it back and forth to the Bronx for a couple of years without any issues really maintaining it except for changing the oil

Just joking, I know what you meant.....and I agree, I have had a newer rental car Accent and I was amazed at the quality and value, for the price. I'd still rather have the E400, but, the Accent is impressive.

It was headed toward Tampa but veered to the left to the panhandle.........some is coming up to Canada....but, mostly rain by then. I like being in Florida in the winter....I think I would want a summer home in Maine though if lived in Florida......or maybe someplace drier.

Well, they got me in a room - waiting for the surgical consult. Unfortunately, this is the local hospital that I hate - but it’s an emergency so I had no choices.

The CT-SCAN showed a blockage in the upper intestines which could include a hernia or something more serious. They put me on NPO - so nothing to eat or drink until they determine what the cause of.

I can’t catch s break.

I just found out last night that I might have to come down to Florida because my Delray Beach widowed SIL is not doing too well and she is in the hospital too. Don't know which one but that ain't important now. If I do have to come down just let me know where you live and where you hide your bottle of Scotch. I know that will help you.

Let's see unexpected turns without the use of turn signals and slower that the speed limit. So what you're saying is that they are designed to be slower BMW's.

A hernia repair procedure is not bad. I had one done in conjunction with an appendectomy some seven years ago. Not too invasive if done lapracospically as mine was. Get well soon my brother. Be Blessed.

I actually tried it this morning. Backed out of garage, seat belt on, parking brake on auto, started pulling forward slowly, opened door, car kept moving, did not stop. 2016 Lexus LS 460. Did not try with seat belt unfastened. Might try that tomorrow.
