Has anyone gotten their new card or heard from Chase?

I applied very early and have received nothing! With all the traveling I've been doing, I think I've missed out on 75-100 Subaru points.

Don't even tell me that - just after I entered everything I've ever done to Sandy.

Edit: no, I checked and my records are still complete. But it reminds me it's time to rotate the tires! :-)

    Got mine a week ago.

I applied the end of July; got the card about 2 1/2 weeks later and started using it. Yesterday I got my first bill (ugh). They did give me an extra 25 Subarubucks as promised.

I'm still waiting on mine as well. I changed over to it about 1 1/2 weeks ago, but nothing yet.

As for the MySubaru site- I sent them a couple of emails- but no reply as of this morning.
I guess it's time to bring out all the records and start adding them back in.

Well it only took 2 days of driving around SI/NYC and I've already gotten 2 comments, 3 2nd looks, and 1 set of kids following my car.

I am not into cars that turn heads but dang the SVX does it. I guess I'll just have to get used to it :)

it took about 2.5 weeks for mine and husband's to arrive. For those traveling abroad: have you noticed that Chase will be charging 2% of the converted amount, for all foreign purchases? Uggh.

FYI - I've asked some folks to check on the My.Subaru issue. Stay tuned.

Anyway - here's a first for you. On Thursday, 9/5, Subaru is trying a new type of advertising. A new commercial titled "Multiple Choice" will be shown before movies at over 450 national theaters.

Let us know if you see it and what you think! Oh - and you (Edmunds folks) are some of the first to know!

I love the new ad on TV with the kids who turn down the volume and actually drive their car! :)

    Movie on Thursday, anyone?

    Actually, that's our chat night.

I actually have an open house for our 3 year old's pre school, so I may have to miss it. Chats have been great the past few weeks so try to make it if you can.

    >>Now I'll keep track of the most exotic/expensive cars that look at it :)<<

While driving the Stude earlier this summer, I got the long once-over from a Boxster S driver. Naturally I didn't return the gaze. >;~) Most people under 40 think it's a Mercedes of some sort.

Odds are I'll miss the chat again. Friends' son made the varsity football team and will probably attend his game.

I'll try to be there...it's hard for me to remeber, especially now that Michael has demanded a later bedtime on school nights...it is now 9:30 lights out.

Patti, glad to see you recovered from your mis-sneeze..how is the back feeling?

A couple of days early, but Susan, Michael, and myself (and Dina, the real dog!) would like to wish all of you, regardless of persuasion, a very happy and HEALTHY New Year. May you all be inscribed and sealed into the Book Of Life for many, many years to come.

I got a thumbs up from a BMW wagon driver when I was on a test drive a while back (in a black WRX wagon).
I get quite a bit more looks now, than I did with the OBS. What, nobody likes the faux hood scoop? :-p

Serge, Mark, etc. - Happy Rosh Hashanah (or whatever I'm supposed to say) :-) !

If you ever find that you want to do some small thing to change the world, try hosting a high school foreign exchange student. I just returned from a 10 day trip to Japan that included 6 days of visits with 3 of my former 'daughters' and their families. Daughter #1, now 27 with excellent English skills, is a translator for a patent attorney and works mostly on advanced automotive filings for Toyota. She is a knowledgeable car buff, and we spent the two hour drive on an 'interstate highway' between Nagoya/Ichinomiya and Kyoto discussing which home market models we saw are sold in the USA, and by what name. It is pretty amazing - we only get a small fraction of the domestic offering.

I explained how first Honda, and then shortly after Toyota and Nissan set up 'second channel' outlets (Acura, Lexus, Infinity). The initial intent being to market upper line cars, based on the belief that Americans would balk at premium prices from 'lowly' Japanese manufactures. And now Toyota is adding Scion (sp?) to compete with Honda in the youth market. Well to my surprise, she asked me if I had noticed the high number of Honda/Toyota/Nissan dealers in her town and surrounding communities. Seems that the larger mfgrs started doing the same thing in the home market a few years ago also. They still use the parent name, but add a suffix to indicate the class. For instance, Honda Premo sells a different part of the Honda line from a Honda Cleo dealer. Nissan has a 'blue class' dealer down the road from a 'red class dealer', etc.

In my search for a Honda Odyssey brochure (know as the LeGreat in Japan), we went to the dealer that sells the smaller cars and the home market Odyssey minivan (an updated version of the van Honda sold in the USA from '94-'98). Wrong. Turns out the big van is sold at the Accord (midsized car) dealer. And if you wanted a Legend (RL in USA), NSX or other premium model, try the third dealer across town!!!

Subaru doesn't have that problem. With limited models even at home, they can be all found in one place. And as in the USA, Subi is popular in snow country, not so popular in the flat lands. Many small towns have a Subaru dealer as you get into higher terrain and you see plenty on the road, yet Osaka (which gets little snow) seemed to have precious few in daily traffic.

Welcome back! Sounds like you had a good time. I just read your post (thanks for pointing out the post #). I could visualize what you saw including the receptionist clapping her hands and jumping up and down.

As you've learned, the big car manufacturers in Japan segment the market by having several lines of dealerships. It's kind of an interesting approach that I haven't seen anywhere else.

    Patti:

I'm looking forward to seeing Subaru's theatre advertisement with mixed feelings. Not that many years ago you paid your two-fifty admission and saw a double feature, a cartoon and a newsreel. Now you are inundated with advertisements for ten minutes before even seeing trailers for coming attractions, and you have to PAY seven or eight bucks for the dubious priviledge of sitting through the advertising.

I'm still out of work. I'll learn about my "options" tomorrow, but I'm beginning to think surgery might be the quickest way out of this mess. The pain is pretty nasty but the boredom is close in comparison. I have issues with not doing anything!

I check in here when sitting up works out okay, but unfortunately, I'm not here enough.

    Soon - soon....

Got to ride (passenger) in it.
    My impression, though not driving,....

[whining out loud] I WANT ONE [/whining out loud]

Worth each penny during it's time.
    Lov....ve that suede dash.
Smooth, 100 mph didn't sound or felt like it.

SoA, bring it back... and make a wagon too. Must be 3.3l :D

just wanted to say hi to everyone. thursday night is my school night and i have class right during the chat, so while this semester lasts i won't be able to attend...bummer...

about me, since im a total newbie, i have 5 kids (that's the daddy part), am a teacher and enjoy swimming and am starting to bike a bit around town. used to play soccer in college and high school but can't play seriously anymore

my forester x is the third subaru in my life. the first was an 85 loyale sedan 2wd. got it used 91k in 91 and sold it to a friend in 94, like an idiot, wish i had kept it...it had around 160k when i sold it and the only thing it needed outside of routine was a head gasket. my friend took it past 200k a few years ago.

well, remorse filled my soul and i got my girlfriend (now my wife) to buy an impreza. it was a 94 and now my mom is driving it. i had already made one of the mistakes of my life and had bought a 94 olds cutl. supreme. it was the 210 hp eng and it was nice for a few years until stuff started going and then it was a nightmare.

well now ive got my forester and my final car (as far as i know) will ba a wrx, or the hottest machine subaru is making several years down the line!

i only wish i had found this site and you folks before i purchased, it could have been better

still, i am in love with my car, i just don't get tired of looking at it or driving it, friday is its first oil change...

    best to all,

    jorge

Sorry to hear about your back...I hope that whatever you decide to do will fix it. I know the boredom part...between checking jobsites, sending out resumes, and learning Dreamweaver and Photoshop, I've been spending all day everyday in front of the monitor...going to the supermarket is like a vacation!

    Thanks for joining us!

Since you're in LA (and traffic is congested like Washington, DC), may I presume you have an automatic transmission? Have you or do you know someone who drives a manual? My rentals in LA were automatics, hence my curiosity.

    Steve, Interesting dealer report; thanks.

    Patti, Hope things get better.

    Cheers,

    ..Mike

Sorry to hear about your back problems. I didn't realize you were out of work because of that. I thought, as did many others here, that you were on vacation.

Back problems are no fun, Been there. Done that (and continue to do that, from time to time!) Hope it doesn't come down to surgery.

blane: but if you're late, you don't miss the movie. I've timed them, and some theatres take a full 15 minutes before the actual movie starts.

And I'm used to $8.75 or so.

Cool link to Liberty. BTW, that Washington Post Employment special comes out on this Sunday, 9/8. Check the dot com site 'cause I bet they show up there, too.

jorge: thanks, and yes I know. :-)

FIVE kids? Whoa, and I'm finding two a handful! That's somethin' else!

To Serge and Crew: Happy & Healthy New Year

    Dennis: Thanks.

    Jorge: Welcome to the crew.

Mike: I saw a SVX at the car show on Wed at Chevy's on Hylan. I stopped trying to see if any one needed old Caddy parts(from my Dad). It was a burgundy color. Since you mentioned getting your car, I've noticed at least 3 on the Island.
