Speaking of content,
MotorWeek had testing of a couple of hot G70s. A turbo 2.0L and 6-speed MANUAL. An 8-speed 3.3L IIRC tested as well. Reference was made to the Kia equivalent, I forget the name right now.
You can go to MotorWeek's website and view the program and see certain stories individually.

For $53,000 and 4.6 seconds to 60 as well as 102 or so mph in the quarter mile, little more than I need.

Maybe the Red Line Equinox on the showroom floor at the local dealer... 2.0 T Black. Black rims...

It's been stressful. Had a tire leaking on the Malibu. Got it in to dealer next morning. Piece of metal that looked like a nail sticking out at the top. Probably got it on the road along the back side of the airport where several large warehouses are being built.

Then next day I must have turned the headlights on manually on the Cobalt because of the dreary day and forgot to turn them off. I'm used to the automatic lights.

Went out to go to Lowes to pick up 5 bags of 3 cu Ft mulch and DEAD.
Charged it with my low and medium rate charger for an hour and had enough to crank over.
Hope it doesn't shorten battery life. Battery is 5 years old on a 5-year warranty. I'll bet it goes
downhill fast now.

What rate did you get? When I threatened to cancel at the end of 2018, it took little time for them to offer me the $5/month all access promo, which is the most I will pay - anything more, and I will let it go and stream bluetooth (which I still do now and then). I like the service, but the game is as bad as cable TV (although maybe a better value - cutting the cable cord is next on my list).

When I go to the new billing, it is the same as what I had: $5/mo for the Select package which includes a bunch of channels of sports + $1 Travel Link. Plus fees of $1.30 month royalty + state tax and another small tax about $3.00

It was really hard to understand the gentleman who was my third person. #2 was also difficult for me to understand. So I wasn't sure how the base rates compared. I verified I had the Select plan and the Travel Link and the total.

The earlier person had tried to sell me the Music only channel for $10 month sans Travel Link.

I know of a ~1/3 acre lot (with a 1950s era commercial building on it, it won't be saved) a few blocks from me that has an assessed value of around 5MM - in the "path of progress" so to speak.

Cable? It's best I dont talk in depth about Spectrum cable (Charter) which took over the Time Warner mess we had for decades.

The ad says they don't charge you for the modem. I'll bet there's a monthly fee for it.All kinds of other slick promotions in slick ads. Or the model does not include the WiFi capability and THAT model does cost. When my son started with Time Warner a few years back I bought him a Surfboard modem that the installer had recommended at Best Buy and took the cable company's modem back. Had to wait in line for 20 minutes at a dirty center city location to return it. They only have one other location in our area in the warm and cheerful suburbs on the other side of town.s

Currently have Frontier landline and DSL. I had thought about leaving our Frontier landline (yeah, I know,) and DSL (yeah I know). But I stay with Frontier just because Spectrum will not allow me any of the special rates for 1 year because I'm already a cable subscriber.

I had considered just going with high speed internet. Pulling the plug on the Cable TV and using a streaming setup. BUT, I'm not sure I understand the ins and outs of getting all the channels of the 10 I watch on various streaming setups.

The streaming setups and fees are as complicated as the cell phone variations. I'm simple. I have TrackFone and a Samsung Galaxy 7 Crown.

There should have been a MSRP cut-off for the tax gifts, maybe around 40-50K. No reason someone buying a Model X deserves the break.

I recall back in the day rumor had it that Enterprise got National cars with a certain mileage. Is there any truth to that?

The strippo Q50 I saw was at Hertz, 4cyl model, no nav, basic trim. It was a couple years ago.

I had that $10 offer as well, I didn't want it - I want the BBC and NHL channels, and a handful of music stations. No doubt their call centers are offshored, which can be a challenge. I think my yearly rate came to about $70 after all fees.

I am in a supposed free market society, so Comcast has a monopoly in my building, unless one wants a wireless provider. To be fair, the service works well and has few issues, but the price seems more and more silly as time goes on, and I watch it less and less - I stream stuff 90% +of the time my TV is on. I have a Fire Stick, and with Kodi on that, Prime, and Youtube, there's no shortage of junk to choose from. But I'd like to catch local news now and then, but I think it can be streamed.

I suspect once I cut things, I can save a good $50/month, which these days seems will be directed towards gasoline.

I’m stunned the Cobalt doesn’t have auto headlights. That’s one thing the General seemed to have on most thing since the mid 90s. My 99 S10 had them despite being all manual everything else.

It does. But I think I turned the headlights on while driving I75 because I wanted to be sure the main lights were on rather than just the DRLs. This was driver error. ME.

I forgot about turning them off when I got home. The skies had brighten up instead of being heavily overcast and I didn't notice the headlight beam on the garage door when I stopped outside.

I still like XM. much easier. I did a RT to NY yesterday, so about 5 hours in the car, and so much easier to just flip through the presets to pick different songs on a variety of stations. if I was streaming it would be staying on one stream for a much longer period.

It is possible to download apps on the Fire Stick for free streaming - Kodi is one of these, kind of a bootleg thing. I also have an app called "Pluto" (I think) which has many vintage TV shows. The youtube app probably gets the most use, I just let it run in the background.

I had a metric socket set but over the years all the ones I really need took a walk. Maybe it’s time to treat myself.

I assume you mean the car company National. Don’t know about back in the day but today Enterprise owns National as well as Alamo. In my experience National would get the higher mileage cars at least at the local airport which is the only location where all three have offices.

Back in the day I thought the hierarchy was National>Alamo>Enterprise, but I could be wrong or maybe it changed. I used to rent National for awhile to choose my car (when nobody else offered this) but then Hertz joined a points program I belong to, and the terms were very good - I could easily get 1-2 week luxury rentals for taxes and fees, so I used that. I am thinking of using the rest of my points, as I don't think I will be renting as often in the foreseeable future.

Back in the 80s when my grandpa retired from his federal government job, he was a car shuffler for Alamo, it got him out of the house/out of grandma's hair, and helped him justify his horse race betting/sports season ticket hobbies. I think he kept it up until he was maybe 75, when he finally decided to take it easy.

My perception before I started working there was that Enterprise was the third tier rental company behind Hertz and Avis. The other companies like Alamo, Budget and National were all minor players to my mind. I’ve since learned that Enterprise bought National and Alamo in 2007 to become the big player in the game. If I had to guess I’d say Enterprise is top dog followed by National and Alamo. I think they’re the only company that’s family owned.

I do know that they treat their part time geezers pretty good with profit sharing, 401k matches and paid days off. We’ve got many drivers in their 70s and a few in their 80s. Many of them are avid gamblers.

I remember in the '80s and '90s when I went to Florida in the winter several times, that down there Alamo was the rental company that came up as part of most of the vacation package deals. They had no presence here and were unknown to most. Word quickly got around that they were best avoided if possible as while they offered attractive teaser rates, their insurance and other add-on fees were outrageous back then, and things like credit cards that offered insurance as part of the deal were much less common then, so it was difficult to avoid paying those things.

My Grandfather loved horse racing. He would jump over the bridge into Philly once a day to place a few bets and chat with the regulars. It was a good time waster for him. He was a two dollar better so he never cashed in big, but most days he at least broke even or gained a few bucks.

Instead of closing down the site for a “cool-off” why not just ban the abuser(s) from the site after a warning is sent out to the individual(s) for 2-4 weeks? I have tried many times to remind posters about “things getting too political” but to no avail.

Every time a poster gets into political areas, it ruins it for the rest of us.

Thanks Shifty - but do consider a “suspension of posting rights” after an official warning to the abuser.

One of them, when they rent from Enterprise/National can return a car to either, which every is easier for them.

I dunno about the mid-engined Vette. Seems like they are trying to compete with the Euro supercars. Or maybe it is an ego project for them after the Ford GT. I guess maybe they figure there are enough wealthy old guys every year dropping big bucks on stuff at Barrett-Jackson that they might be a market for it. If they do keep the front-engine one in production as currently believed I guess it will be OK but you have to wonder how long it will stay around if the new one sells.

I suspect the old guys will keep buying Vettes in RWD format. They're in a nice price point and I get the impression some of the owners feel they have an investment that increases in value in their Vette. I keep seeing nice ones on the showroom floor at my local store, and it seems the option packages keep changing, making the vehicle different from the other Vettes so the owner is getting something special at least in their own mind.

And I am in the age group of many of the owners who parade their Vettes at the local car shows. A Vette club is based at the dealer in the city (village for some of you who live in larger cities) where my Chevy store is.
I'd guess the youngest is a kid of 50.

Just my opinion..., but I don't like going to car shows where the Corvettes show up in large numbers, park together, and tilt the car show toward their newer Vettes. Vettes from the 50s and 60s I like seeing.

That's a good question. I'll have to check that out. I know there's a bell that occasionally goes
off if the keys are in the car... at least sometimes.

PS: There seems to be a good side to this. I'd been watching the batteries state-of-charge using my
voltmeter since it's near the 5-year mark and prorated from Autozone. I'd had them check it
a couple of times. Usually there's a softening or slowing in the way the starter cranks as a battery
loses it's full ability to deliver amperage.

After full draining and slow recharging for almost an hour followed by controlled charging from the
car's regulator, the car cranks better than it was. I was on the glide path to expecting another $150
battery for Fall if I still had this car for the winter.

I bought a 1967 Corvette Stingray Coupe in January of 1967 with the fastback rear end and single rear window pane. It had the 427 cubic inch V8 with tripower 2 barrel carbs and side exhausts as well as louvered hood. It also had the red line tires with the Muncie 4 speed with lockout reverse and spring loaded clutch. It was the most powerful car I have ever had. I had difficulty at first controlling the power with gear shifting. Yes, I got over my Corvette urges even though it sure would be nice to drive a new one again - but getting into the car is one hurdle - but the most difficult hurdle is trying to get out of the car. No, not for me any longer - but I can still dream - right GG?

Shifty, I am on my PC right now which I rarely use when reading and posting on this site. When I try to use an emoticon, I click on the emoticon logo, but a menu/options/emoticons do not drop down. So I am limited to using my "colon" key to expose 5 emoticons - very limited. Why doesn't the emoticon logo work on my PC? It works fine on my iPhone 8+, but not on the PC.

If you do something out of the ordinary...like turn on headlights during the day, turn on fog lights......then put something out of order you will notice - for example, turn your watch the other way on your wrist, if you don't wear a watch then put a writing pad on the console, put a piece of paper on the instrument panel......something that will jar your memory to make you ask "why is that there?"

Corvettes? Not really my thing, nor ever was. I lusted after the muscle cars of the 60's and early 70's, wound up owning a few. But what I do remember is just how much of a chick magnet they were. Several of my friends owned Corvettes, and while I could (for the most part) blow their doors off on the street, there was just no comparison when it came to the "chick magnet" aspect. It was amazing how much the younger females were attracted.

On a Saturday night, hanging out at the "drag" (no, not the drag strip, the area or street where all of the hot cars and street rodders would go), the guys would gravitate towards the hemi's and the girls would be all over the corvettes. Here in Texas, there were never many "custom cars", the kind that showed up in LA. I remember a friend of mine whose rich parents bought him a T-Bucket, and no one knew quite how to react to that. We were never even sure how fast it was, because mostly he didn't race it, and when he did try, he wasn't very good at it.

Same here, Corvettes did not appeal to me from 10 years old to 50 years old. I liked BMW 2002, Mercedes “gull wing”, Porsche 356, Porsche 911, Jaguar XKE, AC Cobra, etc. Motorcycles were big & bicycles. During college, driving a (BMW touring) motorcycle in, around, through, & across Europe was on my bucket list.

So long about 19 years ago, I was taking notice of a lot of improvements being made to Corvettes’ performance, components & bang for the buck. Looks, I could give or take. I went to order one & missed the cut. In hind sight, lucky me. The GMC dealer, which did not sell Corvettes & the salesman then made it their/his personal mission to get me the next model year, which they did not offer in my color choice (metallic blue).

I think I made a big mistake. Just looking around keeping an eye open for a replacement for the Sebring and found one I thought my wife would reject so to test it out and showed it to her and I was right, she rejected it.

Until today when she started to talk about that car and she is warming up to it. Anyway my gut feeling is to steer clear of the car. Here it is for your pleasure:

Mileage wise (4,250 year), it’s a a cream puff. Tire & alignment replacements take a good chunk of a $1,000 bill. I like the fact it seems to be “hermetically sealed” when the top is up.
