“Per year” . I, like you all can read. It’s a 2015. So why would one spend $19,500+ plus ( possible salvage) for transportation, while balking @ a grand or three on the one you have for TRANSPORTATION? It would seem like the less one spends the better.

Jack or lift it up & 5 mins max, it will be easy to see if it’s a salvage.

Per year. I, like you all can read. It’s a 2015. So why would one spend $19,500+ plus ( possible salvage) for transportation, while balking @ a grand or three for TRANSPORTATION? Jack or lift it up & 5 mins max it will be easy to see if it’s a salvage.

ok got you on the mileage, sorry.

Now if they offered a warranty and a reasonable return policy I might be persuaded to take a chance and have a mechanic give it a once over.

Well, a few things. That car ain't going to go through the snow too well.....maybe if you don't mind getting snow tires....but the tires will have to be stored.
If you look up his address on a map and look at a satellite view he has the cars packed in on his lot....4 deep. I would call ahead if you want a test drive.
If you look up reviews on his KNB site, most are actually pretty good, some do say they are salvaged cars, and some people felt they should not be trusted.
The reviews on Yelp warn you to stay away from this dealer....they are scary;

I know of this dealer, I have driven at them multiple times. It is strictly used cars with a lot packed with cars. knowing that area like I do that could very well be their property.

Is that a hard top convertible? Quite a step up from the Sebring. Oh but what a money pit if you plan on taking it up in mileage. Nice looking. You could always buy a Chrysler Crossfire as a warm up.

I remember sometime in the late 80s, I think my grandpa won something like 5 grand - it was a big deal. I have no idea how much he spent to won that, but it got him out of the house, so grandma was cool with it.

BMW is goofier, but MB is little better. The numbers now mean virtually nothing.

Regarding political, maybe we shouldn't have got carried away, but at the same time, I don't see yesterday's fun as political, as it is a subject where both sides of the aisle have failed the citizenry, and neither offer a real solution. No politicians nor parties were mentioned - they are all garbage anyway.

That could be a fun retirement gig for a car enthusiast, I wonder if that will exist when/if I make it to that point. Of course, for most private sector/real world workers, retirement age might be around 75 by then.

I do know that they treat their part time geezers pretty good with profit sharing, 401k matches and paid days off. We’ve got many drivers in their 70s and a few in their 80s. Many of them are avid gamblers.

I can't lose what I never had.
I used to make model cars, I think they were called 3 in 1 kits...I must have made about 100 of those things, I am sure a few were Corvettes if that counts.

So what happens when you give your brand new, heavily-optioned Mercedes G550 to a valet to park underground? Well-----this is what happens. The impact was so hard that it bent the entire rear quarter panels. This is going to be a very pricey settlement. You can load these up with option to bust $200K I would guess. I can see custom carbon fiber bodywork, too.

The G550 is very tall, so when the valet attempted to put it in underground parking, he hit a support beam of some sort. I don't want to identify location but it's where you might expect. The entire body seems distorted. Must have been a very hard hit.

Germany has superior driver training and better road quality, it's that simple. I wouldn't want the typical distracted (North) American driver in a bloated SUV or poorly maintained old car zipping along at no limit on a rough lowest bidder roadway. We can commiserate that much is wrong in the realm of speed enforcement and the setting of limits, but I wouldn't want a full unrestricted Autobahn here. In terms of motoring culture, this place just isn't developed enough to handle it, and likely never will be.

Some quite quickly, so must have been pushing 90 (65 SL). Heck, I got passed on the left by a tow truck, with an old civic on the hook rear wheels down, that had to be doing over 80.

Another reaction is what happened to the automatic braking and all the nanny features?

And I know I'm supposed to feel sorry for the owner, and I do. It's just the circumstances,
and such a muted color that doesn't attract much attention from others that the owner is
driving a tri-star...

Back to the SirusXM payment. They send me an email verification of my payment and the plan for which I was charged and a detail of the charges. It's blank other than the SiriusXM logo bar at the top in blue and the SiriusXM logo with the waves radiation to the left and right.

I call them, and they don't offer to send it by mail. They tell me I can go into my account settings and set that to have it sent as a text to my phone. Duh.

This same thing happened 5 months ago. I wudda thought by now they would have learned how to send emails.
Some places can send a basic text email vs an html format email. Nope.

They didn't try to blame me or my email provider for the problem, at least. That's one point in their favor by not blaming teh customer. This is the content of the verification email.

Yep, lotta glitz involved here. This is one expensive birthday cake, no doubt. I wasn't witness to the accident so I don't know much besides the obvious from looking at the damage----low bridge! Perhaps the innate feeling of invincibility that these vehicles convey (an illusion at best, but convincing) caused a lapse in judgment. Wouldn't be the first time.

Looking at that picture some questions come to mind. Mainly is that really driver error? It seems like the impact area is a little higher than midpoint of the windshield so the driver had to have seen it. Just from the damage I would sat vandalism or a different type of accident

I know at Hertz, Dollar/Thrifty are the lower priced rentals but we bring vehicles to all three at times. Even though season is over, we've been very busy these past few weeks. I've even been asked to work 4 days a week for all of them. But going forward, think things will slow down again. I like to do a nine hour day if possible as I drive a fair distance to get there plus I take a toll road for part of it. So to work just a half a day just isn't worth it to me though sometimes, like this week, I have no choice as life does get in the way.

Sort of auto-related... I read a LOT of history and I was reading about "Hobart's Funnies", the specialty tanks used on D-Day, which of course lead to an internet wandering and videos, etc. and I came across a reference to the engine used in the flail tank, the Chrysler A57 Multibank. Quite a clever piece of engineering to provide power to a tank. It used 5 inline 6-cylinder engines arranged in a circle around a central shaft. 1,253 cu.in. 370 HP and they claimed it could still power the tank if 12 of the 30 cylinders were knocked out. My Dad would be spending all day, every day on the web looking up this kind of stuff if he was still around

I had to rent a U haul in Delaware a couple times to move the kid. They had multiple signs warning of a nearby low bridge, with pictures of decapitated trucks. My guess is it’s the usual GPS direction way to go, and renters aren’t used to thinking about clearance.

When I was about 12, we were on the Grand Central Parkway just past La Guardia when we saw a truck that was too tall to go under an overpass wedge itself under the overpass. Peeled the top of the trailer back about 1/3 of the way. Actually stopped pretty smoothly as I recall. Nobody else got involved and I don't think the driver got hurt. I wonder what the fine for that is

Word is that the valet hit an "entrance beam" to an underground parking facility. This vehicle is 6ft 5 inches tall!

He must have headed somewhere down there where cars aren't supposed to be, I'd guess. Maybe some support beam at the edge of the garage?

The valet/g wagon post is a great reminder why I go out of my way & will continue to refuse valet services.🏎 My bet would be on the g wagon being “cowboy-ed”.

I would even venture to say there is heavy duty frame damage. I’m guessing that Mercedes-Benz uses the windshield frame as part of rollover protection.

I had to go over to my doctor's office this morning to have the wound I received last week from that food basket collision redressed and looked at by the nurse. My doctor decided he wanted to look at it as well - so when I finished at the doctor's office, I decided to go over to the Genesis Dealership a couple of miles away to look at the new G70. The salesman who greeted me convinced me to take one for a test drive - which I did.

He pulled up a white "3.3T Advanced" G70 model which MSRP'd for almost $47,000. I found the G70 sedan somewhat "lack-luster". For that kind of money, there are many other vehicles on the market that far surpass this car in styling, quality interior materials and workmanship. The Acura, Avalon, ES350, C300, Q50, to name a few, are far more interesting in terms of available options, materials and style/design of the interior. I did find the 3.3 Twin Turbo more than adequate for power and performance and the exterior styling was attractive - at least to me. The rear seat room was almost non-existent and the front seating was a bit crampted for a person of my size and height. I did not like the infomation display - looked cheap and bare-bones.

When we got back to the showroom, I sat in a G80 and found it much more appealing in almost every aspect. Seating was more comfortable and the quality-look of the interior (materials and design) was excellent. I don't remember why I did not reconsider the G80 as a possible replacement for my S450 when the lease is up next year, but I definitely would consider one if the pricing and auto loan availability at a reasonable interest. Definitely something to think about.

I read here on this forum that several of our members found the G70 intriguing and tempting. I would like to know how you would rate the G70 compared to some of the models I listed above as being more preferrable. I noticed that the dealership's name was changed from Hyundai to Genesis on one side of the building. That would mean that the service department services both the Genesis and Hyundai vehicles. I thought they were supposed to be stand-alone dealerships.

I don’t see your last two sentences @ all! Now if the “owner” did the “deed” in his anachronistic, off roadie, military , but still fru fru Mercedes Benz, I’d have a good laugh with you.

Indeed, from the low hanging perspective over 75,000 miles, I would like to consider myself lucky to have not scrapped the bottom of a stock but LOW hanging 2001 Corvette Z 06.

I’m experiencing these driving scenarios frequently, especially trailers being towed at too high of speed. Defensive driving has never been more important.
