Congrats!

Steve
• Thanks for the kind words and congratulations, everyone! Tali has made me laugh and smile more times in the last couple of weeks than any other time in my life.

Juice: Lanese, my wife, recovered incredibly fast after the delivery. That photo of the three of us was taken less than 48 hours after delivery. She continues to amaze me the longer we're married.

Ty's profile:
Job: Instructional Designer (use technology to train people in the corporate environment)
Education: MS Instructional Technology
Rational Thinker: Only when necessary
Allergies: Cats

Computer: Former Apple/Mac user, but have switched to Windows because of work needs.

Engineer/IT/Analytical type - Not in high tech but I am in commercial real estate appraisal (everything but houses), which ranks above accounting as the geeks of the business world.

Glasses - Guilty

Allergies - None

Home owner - Three (One does not count, it is a rental property)

Above average income - According to demographics or statistics. But looking at all the rich folk in Atlanta with their big houses and fancy cars, I feel like a pauper (what am I doing wrong?).

My wife who is usually a normal, rational person, if perhaps a bit overeducated, has just decided to purchase a new OB sedan, an 04 VDC, to replace her 00 OB sedan, which is being purchased by one of our neighbors. Note to Juice: My wife loves her sedan (likes the locking trunk for one) and traded up from the Limited to the VDC for a bit more power and the McIntosh system. And she has always liked to drive my VDC wagon. Our neighbor only wanted the sedan OB. Maybe I'm a bit off center for hanging out with the OB sedan crowd.

Keri: welcome, plus you earn bonus points for both you and your husband having a K in your names.

Martin: (note K in his last name) so you mean *both* Outback sedans will be in your neighborhood? ;-)

is one of the finest looking sedans on the market. Nothing wrong with having an eye for beauty.

Great news, Subaru has invited me to Las Vegas for a Ride-and-Drive event with the 2005 Legacy. It'll be May 17th. We'll drive GTs back to back with competing vehicles, it's basically a dealer training event.

Bob too. This is a follow-up event from NAIAS. They re-invited about 8 of the 12 of us that went to Detroit.

Details at the chat tonight.

Juice: Yes, two OB sedans in our neighborhood. Statistically, improbable, but true.
• kenskens Member Posts: 5,869
juice,

D-oh! You lucky dawg!

I would have LOVED to have been able to test drive the GT back-to-back. That way I wouldn't have to wait until the cars trickle into the dealers to test them out.

Do people who paid their own way to see the Legacy at NAIAS count too? :-)

Actually, I'd pay for my own flight and hotel if I were invited to something like this.

Most of the folks who went to Detroit with us are going. Should be fun, to say the least. May 16 – 18. Get to drive both Outbacks and Legacys, and a Las Vegas show and dinner too.

It's an SOA National District Manager Training Conference Ride-and-Drive we've been invited to.

Allergies - Muthd be, I wad a bid stuffed ub today. Noding therious dough.
Rational decision maker - Only when it was made with my wife.

like you guys don't already know!

Engineer/Analytical Type - Teacher, but deal with lots of psychoeducational testing and diagnostic/prescriptive IEP's (Individual Education Plans) ... lots of areas in the past, but special education righty now

Glasses - the dreaded .... BIFOCALS (no lines .. lol)

Allergies - occasionally fall and spring

Rational decision maker - all but the move from Houston to South Bend to be closer to a man I met online (actually it was one of the most 'rational' decisions I've ever made, but also one of the most 'misunderstood'

Computer - PC - main tool at home and at work - I do have a MAC at one school, but the rest are PC

Home Owner - yes (thankfully again, after a several year 'hiatus' in apartments)

Kids - 3 daughters 27, 23, 21,
4 grandsons - 8, 5, 4 1/2, 4
1 granddaughter - 7 months old
2 boys I'm helping to raise with their dad - 15 1/2, 14

Above average income - above the national average .. certainly more than I ever thought I'd make as a teacher (try a Texas teacher salary!)

Above average education - B.S. Ed (see? I have a whole degree in BS), MA-Ed, post-graduate hours total - I'm taking a class now that will bring the total to 100 post-graduate hours - Teaching licenses in Elem Ed, Music (K-8), Ed. Admin. (K-12), Sp Ed - Severe Disabilities

Pets - one dog - Australian Shepherd mix - we think with Husky

Outdoors - as long as I'm comfortable .. lol - remember I lived on the Texas Gulf coast most of my life and the months when it's most pleasant I couldn't GET vacation time!
• ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
We promise to try to spread the love, in-car video is the most likely way we can do that. I'll try to host it on my comcast account so you can see the video on the day of the event.

Keep in mind they had only invited me to Detroit, immediately my thinking was "who else can go". We pushed for 2. 3? Nice try.

This time they invited back a subset of those 12 from NAIAS. I guess we left a good enough impressions that we were in that subset. But they're not even allowing spouses at this event.

Any how, I'd like to say a public thanks to SoA for allowing the Edmunds.com Subaru Crew this type of access. Again, I promise to make the very best use of this event to distribute info and impressions and promote these wonderful cars.

I'll be sure to ask about other events like this one, regional ones, and see if we can get other Crew invited, that would be fantastic. Even if you can test drive one at the dealer, to be able to drive one around some cones with no sales pressure is pretty cool.

In fact one suggestion I'll have is to host events like M-B and BMW do to promote Subaru's fleet of cars, that way we could ALL go.

Sound nice? :-)

I'd love to compare my lap times to Colin, paisan, loosh, and the rest of you. Highest score (time) wins, OK? LOL

I think the Crew here at Edmunds should be proud that SOA recognizes that the Edmunds "Crew" as being important and relevant to their marketing efforts—important enough to taken seriously, otherwise these invitations would never have been extended to us.

Juice and I are only the point people here, and are lucky enough to be Crew Leaders here (and by your support only, BTW!) You can count on us to represent everyone here in the very best way we can.

• kate5000kate5000 Member Posts: 1,271
I was kidding about German Shepherd :-)

Disclaimer: no dogs were ever eaten by my cat (although some were scratched and hissed at)!

But that cat was a really huge creature, and obnoxious too. Made a great conversation piece with guests, starting with "What is IT?" to "What do you feed IT?".
RIP good friend 19?? - 1996.
• rshollandrsholland Member Posts: 19,788
is that all the other invited guests are all from Subaru-specific websites and/or dealers. Juice and I (the Subaru Crew) are from a sub-set here at the HUGE Edmunds site. I find that kind of special.

Kate, I was recently given a Maine [non-permissible content removed] Cat. It is the biggest cat I have ever seen. I don't even have one of the 20 lb ones. It's under 15 pounds. You can hold your arms out straight and drape the cat over both arms. The paws are over 2" in width.

PS Got an e-mail update on the Leg and it says it'll be in dealers in late May! The pictured car has a hood scoop!

a cat in the 15lb range. She ( (Kady) looks like the mutant offspring of a chance encounter with Jaba-the-Hut, and keeps our Golden (Annie) under control. :)

AARG, just in time so I could buy a turbo wagon to go to Utah in in June.

Love my WRX but for travel west a turbo wagon would be nice (funny it seems like I once had a turbo wagon).

Good point, Bob. SOA letting you and juice go to these events is a first. If this works out well, who knows -- they might try expanding the invite list in the future. And who better than juice and Bob to pave the way!

Enjoy your well deserved fun guys!
