2017 Cadillac ATS Performance Premium 3.6
AC is always under-dash, dealer or owner installed:
I think 4 cyl Pontons had a round speedometer, 6cyl cars had a horizontal unit.
Caught a break in the weather today, dry and even some sun. Amazing, as it snowed all morning yesterday, but the wind and warmer weather dried everything out. I went for a cruise around town with the ski rack. Initially they were rattling and making terrible noise, so I pulled over, re-did them, and no noise. I do seem to notice a bit of extra wind noise from them above 35-40 mph or so. I cleaned the tires this morning, first time since the trip, still looking good for being nearly 8 years old now. Running fine, no issues, turned a few heads:

Fintails dominated competitions in the early 60s, they were just that advanced with FI and their overall construction. The car in that Argentine race is a 300SE, one step up from my car, but a big step - 50% more power. It was the top model fintail, and is quite rare.
Rosqvist and Ursula Wirth won many races during that era in fintails. Matchbox even recently released a model to commemorate them (have yet to find this in stock):

Whenever I see it, it makes me wish I kept my 89 Town Car.
I’ve been casually looking for a replacement. I can’t decide if I want an 88-89 TC or a 77-79 Continental.
I think when I’m ready it will come down to the specific example that I find.

I am more likely to regret cars I bought (had a few but mostly early on) and mostly, ones I almost got but didn't end up pulling the trigger on!
2020 Acura RDX tech SH-AWD, 2023 Maverick hybrid Lariat luxury package.
Seller's remorse is tough. For a long time I regretted selling the W126, as it was pretty, but it wasn't perfect , and was miled up. Similar regret for the E55, as they are rare and have a cult following, but I just can't keep more than 2 cars.
I went to some thrift shops/antique malls, and found some wooden skis at a reasonable price. These are old cross country skis, and almost appear to be new old stock - only the lightest of use, not what I would expect with cross country skis contacting each other all the time. They are hickory, made in Norway. I showed this to my accessory nut friend, who is going to get me some new rubber straps, as he thinks these aren't safe - but it seemed sound to me. Now I need to think about getting another pair for the other side, or putting a wood hockey stick or two on it, perhaps. And if the car didn't get enough looks and comments already, the skis kicked it up a notch - today's drive was not for the self-conscious. Car also fired right up as usual and ran fine, I treated it to some Chevron today, as it has been on Costco gas lately.

I never got into skiing when I was a kid, mostly too flat when I lived in a snowy area, and my parents weren't into it. I was thinking the pair I got might still be usable, but I wouldn't risk it. Probably period correct for the car though.
Aw, and miss all the fun of picking out the right Swix wax to use, depending on temperature???
Not sure if this would work for skis, but all the surfers in CA would use this on their surfboards.

Funny thing, a fintail in Spokane has appeared for sale in the facebook fintail groups. The seller, a youngster, has priced it optimistically, while providing inadequate photos and a very brief description - so he's being raked over the coals. And then this really gets people howling:
I'll guess around 1978 or something probably, someone cut a hole in the roof. Fintail people tend to be purists, and this photo got some funny reactions. I also notice the plastic bag on the passenger side is from the old Spokane MB dealer, probably gone for 20 years now.
Other photos are of this quality, so you can imagine when one wants 9K for the car with few details, the peanut gallery is having a field day:
He won't even state the year or model (looks like a pre-63 220S sitting on later 14-15" wheels), and has few other details, with the typical "inquire for more details" reply, as he probably knows the peanut gallery will really get into the details.
From what I can see, this car might be in the 5-6K (he's asking 9K, maybe expecting lowballers) range unless there's something special going on.

Another pic from the seller, maybe put it under "how not to sell a car":

That car also appears to have the accessory piece that goes in the console, making for 3-across seating (some early fintails were spec'd with a front bench, but this is really rare).

I like mine rear-facing, less initial wind resistance.

Virtually impossible to undo a mod like that unless you want to transplant an entire roof panel and get a headliner.

Pic taken downtown, as I was inquiring about a recliner I ordered almost 2 months ago and still hasn't arrived, as we are in 2020 and everything is insane.
And it's been awhile, some local CL finds:
I wonder what's wrong
Neat but not for that money
Cheap
Topic of recent discussion, with the worst possible option
Grandma's favorite car
Eventually should be saved
I wonder how bad it was damaged
Cool but needs tidying
It's not the 90s anymore, good luck with sale
Maybe a fun cruiser for the money
Could probably get it for 3K
Remember how cheap these were once
Luxury sedan
Interesting, but a little dear at this point in time
Probably rarer than the fastback today
Gentle patina
Green
Project car hell? Nice hood scoops
I actually saw this a few weeks ago, didn't look bad.
The Aurora is just awful.
Olds Wagon is cool, but I bet would be a money pit.

Anybody reckless and self-destructive enough to tackle this one?
