Following discussions here a long time, finally took the plunge. 01 SLT + 2WD with 4.7 auto. Dealer demo with just about everything I would have ordered but at a price that I couldn't pass up. Looked in the archives but am curious if anyone has any experience with adding the fender flares that are standard on 4 WD (is there another source besides the dealer etc.)and if anyone has had trouble with gravel/debris hitting the radiator work in the bottom of the bumper. And finally learning that Bookitty is "boo Kitty" is worth the price of admission to the show!!
  • bobs5bobs5 Member Posts: 557
I am not sure what the aftermarket has available. The dealer is probably the best place to get the fender flares from. At least they will fit without problem.
    Good luck.

The wisdom of the words from Bookitty are precious and memorable.

Who has them, which brand, how do you like them, and what was your cost?
I don't usually have passengers when I drive, but recently, had to drive my dad, 72 yr old (god bless him), to the doctors for a successful cataract operation, he made a statement about the high step in height of the truck. Though I don't have a problem getting into the truck myself, I was curious if anyone else has experienced a concern about this.
    Thanks,
    Bob

Here is what the dealer wants to do to my quad every 12K.

It is sorta interesting I found this info at the AutoPROFIT site.

Is there an aftermarket headlight assembly for the '01 QC that is brighter than OEM? I want brighter lights; but, am afraid to install brighter "bulbs" for fear that they will melt the OEM lens. Anyone know anything about this?

    THANKS,

bob5 - I have the Westin nerf bars. Paid $265 installed ($235 part/$30 labor). You can get them just about anywhere, maybe even for less. The shop that tinted my front window even sold them. I had considered buying the color coordinated Mopar "Molded Side Steps" but they were way too expensive ($615 list). The Westin's are very solid and don't extend too far out or too low from the body. I've included my pics link below so you can see pics. of what the Westin's look like on the QC.

gator72 - I've been running the PIAA 9007 Platinum Super White headlight bulbs in my QC since day 1 (the dealer even installed them for me). No problems whatsoever with the OEM lens. These bulbs do brighten the low beams considerably. But if you really want to light up the road, replace your stock fog lights with PIAA 510 Driving Lights and you'll swear it is daytime at night.

Y'know, I think i've heard just about enough of all you jokers bashing The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania due to the unique topography of our highway surfaces. Consider the advances in modern day life that can be directly attributed to this beautiful states singular asphault caverns! It has been hinted that wilbur and orville wright invented the airplane so as to manipulate themselves more smoothly over the surface of our roads. The extreme sports half-pipe . . . where do you think that idea was hatched? I'm puttin' my money on Pennsy! what about rock climbing? bungie jumping? Yup, all these and more are brought to you by the cavernous expanses which are indeed the famous "potholes" of Pennsylvania. So please, tread lightly when you visit our fair state.
    your shocks will thank you.

Okay guys, let's talk about Hopbottom, Tunkhanuck,Mehoopeny and the Nicholson Bridge. I spent much time in the area supplying saws and diamond blades to the slate cutting industry. My dealer, Herb Harvey was well into his seventies when he took on our line. The Nicholson Bridge was
built in 1911 for the purpose of spanning a PA pothole. This pothole was 92 feet deep and didn't even make the top 10. I always had a great time whenever I would have to go there, and brought my family with me quite often.

Thanks Bob5, dealer quoted me $255 for a set today. Will likely go that route as driving the last several days in wet/muddy roads made a mess of my new truck!!

    macey,

Rather than putting holes in that nice Quad Cab roof, consider attaching your Yakima rack to the top edge of the box. I had originally purchased a rack with 48" bars, Qtowers and (4)Lockjaw bike mounts to put on top of my '94 Explorer. The Quad replaced the Explorer but I had over $600 in the rack and really liked it.

My fix? To make a long story short, I purchased 66" bars and mounted the bases for the Qtowers on the top edge of my box, allowing me to slide the rack assembly on and off. These bases sit on top of my "over the rail" spray-in bedliner so there's no scratching of the top edge of the box when installing or removing the rack.

Advantage - bikes sit only about 2' or so above the cab so I won't tear them off on a low tree or the drive through at McD's. They're MUCH easier to load because you can stand in the box rather than lifting them over your head. Heaven forbit they're roof mounted and I forget they're there and back in the garage!

Disadvantage - (Not for me), but if you want to haul something in the box more than about 3" taller than the sides, the rack can't be there.

I'll post pictures if anyone's interested or email me... fat_fenders@yahoo.com and I'll send some direct.

    Keep on Quadin'

You guys got roads? Man, that must be cool. Here in Nebraska we don't have roads. Roads?, we don't need no stinking roads! Stnick.

But seriously, Yesterday, my service dept installed the new rear end that they had ordered march 30. After trying to replace the ring and pinion gear set with no success, still whined, the service manager didn't fool around. He ordered the complete rear end. Any way, they picked up my truck, where I work at 8:30 am, put in the rear end and delivered it back at 12:45. I promptly took her out for a test drive, and low and behold, nor more whiney hiney. Thats service. So to anyone out there that has a whiney rear, not the wife, push that dealer for the proper fix. This had been my only problem with my 00 QC 4x4 3.55lsd now with 9500 miles. Stnick

Sorry, it was late when I listed the parts used for mounting my Yakima rack on the box sides.

I didn't use Qtowers. They were the Locking Railriders which slid into the existing roof rack rails on the Explorer.

Bob, That was the primary reason I got the Westin nerf bars, for those who needed a little help to get in the truck! Now, if I could find some way to lower the dang driver's seat.

Nick, glad to here you got a new rear end (really!) That -should- resove the whining.

tmatthew - interesting link, looks like a high priced enema! I didn't read through everything to find the "miracle ingredient".

I have relatives that live in Tunkhannock! I spent many summers fishing and swimming in Fishing Creek - the creek was right behind my Aunt's property where they kept a pig pen with 3 or 4 pigs. Ah sweet memories :) Nicholson bridge is awesome, I never new of it's existance, can you drive a truck across it? My descedants settled somewhere in or about Moscow, PA where I understand they helped to build the span across the "Nicholson Pothole"... I wonder if there is any... connection?

My family has a summer home in a village close to Forksville, PA. It's right near the World's End state park, Rickett's Glen state park, Tiadaghton state park and the Loyalsock and Black Forest Trails. Beautiful country and a great ride if you wanna break in your truck, there are lots of places to get into 4wd. Or even have a Quad Cab get together !!!

Peace, Love, Days Off, and Horsepower!!!

I was wondering if this was possible! Like you, I've got way too much $$ tied up in my Yakima accessories to switch rack systems. I've been contemplating purchasing some Q Towers for my roof, but have also been wondering if I could attach the rack over my bed. My plan was to do this and use my current basket or the new larger one that Yakima sells that accepts attachments for bikes, skiis, etc.

Could you email me some pics? My email address is txqc2000@yahoo.com. Thx for your post.

Pretty country up in northern Pennsylvannia. My wife and I have hiked the Loyalsock Trail, Black Forest Trail and Susquehannock Trail several times coming from Virginia. We are planning a hike on the first week in May at either the Susquehannock Trail again or the Bartram Trail in North Carolina. When we do the Loyalsock, we usually park at Worlds End State Park and when we do the Susquehannock, we park at Ole Bull State Park. You can also go from the Susquehannock Trail to the Black Forest Trail via the North and South Link Trails. Do have to watch out for deer crossing the roads up there though. Have had many close calls.

As I posted earlier, my new Silver SLT 2wd with the leather package and about all other options came in last Monday after only three weeks since ordering. I had to wait until Friday to get my Farm Bureau Certificate and was to pick up my new truck today. Sarasota is about 70 miles from my home, and about three miles before I got there this morning the salesman called me on my cellphone and said there was a small problem. When he got ready to drive it up to the front of the dealeship he noticed the warning light for the anti-lock brakes was on and would not go off. They checked it out and determined it had a bad sensor. They did not have one in stock, and neither did any of the other dealers in South Florida. He said they were not allowed to let me leave the lot with this because it happened before I took delivery of it. So now I have to wait until next week for them to order this sensor and they are going to deliver my new Quad to me, hopefully Tuesday. I noticed that the floor mats were missing, and they agreed to replace them. I checked under the hood and the insulation was missing, but the dealer checked and said apparently the factory has dropped this from the SLT package that shows it in it. It also did not have the Quad Cab badge on the side, but I have no problem with that, I think it looks cleaner without it. Being a lifelong Ford man, I was very apprehensive about buying a dodge to start with, but I am trying to keep a positive attitude about the whole thing and I realize this is something that could happen to about any vehicle. It was really difficult to drive back home without my fantastic looking new Silver Quad. I sure hope things get better.

I would ask the dealer to show you some proof that the underhood insulation was discontinued.

It may be that in some areas of the country that are propne to a lot of salt, snow country, that may be true as the salt can rot out the hood real quick. If you are in a temperate climate I would say it should be there.

I will be taking delivery of my Club Cab most likely next Saturday. It also is an SLT. These comments have piqued my curiosity as to what I will find or not find on mine.

Today I went by 3 dealers, all of the SLTs on the lot had the hood insulation and none of the dealers has heard anything about it being discontinued. I am in Northern Cal.

Now that it's warm here in wis. I was driving with my windows down and notice a metal clanking on metal ding type of thing coming from the right side of the truck perhaps in the front end. It only happens when I hit bumps. ITS NOT a creak but a ding type of sound. Its really noticable when I turn around a corner and hit a rough spot in the road . . . does anyone know what it could be . . . I'm hesitant to take it to the dealer and have them drive around my truck to hear the noise and perhaps not even notice it. PLease help!
Underneath everything looks to be fine . . .I could be missing something though . . .

    marshall,

I took delivery of my quad earlier this month & it too was missing the hood insulation & console light. I pointed that out to my salesman, that it is listed in the sales brochure as part of the slt package (hood insulation), bucket seat package (console light) & then we also looked at the quad they had on the showroom floor which had the 2 items. He promptly, showed the service manager & agreed to have the 2 items installed. The hood insulation has a kewl ram head design on it, to boot.

Jim, there's nothing like hiking the trails, especially when you've got the hottest truck to get you there!!! I may have hiked some sections of the Susquehannock trail if it runs into the Big Blue trail, I can't remember off the top of my head. I've never been to the Allegheny Forest (Have you?) because from Philly it takes just as long to get to the Adirondacks (8-10 hours). My most dangerous wildlife encounter was being attacked by a screaming spruce hen on the Mahoosic trail in Maine - those things are nasty!

About 110 or 115 posts ago I listed my evaluation of the CDs used and CD player in my Q/C. At the April 2 app. with dealer, they checked the player and ordered a new unit. It arrived 2 days later and was installed the following day. During the past 4 days there have been no skips and no Error messages. A longer period of continuous playing is needed to fully evaluate the new unit. For gator72 and any others that are experiencing this problem, I would advise condidering the skips as a manufacturer problem and taking it to the dealer for a replacement.

bobs5 regarding you question about running board/nerf bars. I considered both, but chose the running boards because I thought they would provide more protection for the sides of the Q/C. These were ordered from a local accessory dealer and I believe were made by Owens. They are steel reenforced, had to be painted to match my Bright Silver Metallic, and required some drilling underneath the truck to mount them. They look good and cost $450 installed. And by the way bobs5, being just a couple of years younger than your father, I consider us both to be only middle aged. The step does make entry easier after you get used to stepping with the outside foot first and then sliding DOWN into the seat.

In addition to the running boards, I have had a Bedrug and a Sportmaster vinyl cover installed. The Bedrug provides great protection for the bed and things do not slide around. The vinyl cover was chosen because it can be easily removed by one person--and has a 5 year warranty.

My Q/C was delivered March 1. It does have the Rams head on the hood and Quad patches behind the back doors. It does NOT HAVE INSULATION under the hood and I cannot find anything in the literature that says it should since it is a Sport model. If anyone has any information that indicates that there should be insulation, please post the info.

hogger4 the Q/C gathering sounds like a good idea. I am interested. Timing could be a factor and also it would be a struggle to get through these PA pot holes on the way north to NY.

Sorry for the long post. It has been a while and the number of posts and subjects covered in this forum add up quickly.

    Regards to all. Ken

The hood insulation is standard (or listed in the brochure as standard) on the SLT Decor Group and the RT Group.packages.

Whats strange is that it is not even listed as an option on the option chart, just listed in the detailed package information

    From the brochure page 28

SLT Decor Group: Cloth door panel trim with map pocket, Light Group, air conditioning, floor carpet, floor mats, hood insulation, bright front bumper, bright rear step bumper, bright grill, gray fascias, bright "Dakota" door badge, "SLT" hard door badge and 15" X 7" cast aluminum wheels.

    From page 29

R/T Group, 5.9L V8 engine, 4 speed automatic transmission, Light Group, Deluxe Convenience group, cloth bucket seats or 40/20/40 split bench seat (no charge option) "Dakota 5.9 R/T" door decal, "5.9 R/T" tailgate decal, color keyed wheelflares, body colored front and rear upper and lower fascias, hood insulation, heavy duty rear stabilizer bar, leather wrapped steering wheel, fog lamps, suspension lowered by one inch. P255/55R17 BSW performance tires, 17 X 9 cast aluminum wheels, LSD rear, and 3.92 axle ratio, optional on regular cab and Club cag 4 X 2 sport models only.

I sent an E-Mail to Dodge Customer support questioning why in about the past month they have stopped installing the hood insulation even though it is listed as one of the features of the SLT Decor Group. What really concerns me is the things I have been reading about lately that Dodge is leaving off of its trucks are only things that we can see, what else are they cutting out that we don't see. Seems like they are trying to make up for the money they are giving out in rebates.
  • namfflownamfflow Member Posts: 202
I am going to call Chrysler tomorow and find out from them whether there have been any changes to the packages since the brochure was printed. In particular I will ask about the hood insultion in the SLT package and for the regular cab and club cab (yeah, I know this is quad cab but with the exception of 2 more doors we are talking the same truck) whether the switch from 22 gallon tank to 20 gallon tank was made and why. I would rather have the bigger tank. In the brochure this is a mid year change.

The badges I would think are just a screw up. Like many companies Dodge wants to advertize its name in as many places as it can. I can't see them discontinuing badging even though some peoiple prefer no badges. I'll ask about that too.

After I get some information I will post it here.

Well, almost 6,000 Miles on my 2000, 4.7 4x4 Sport. I am getting about 15 city. Now I know it is rumored that if I put in a K&N (any idea on cost) and and Flowmasters (cost?) and use Mobil ! I should be able to squeeze more out. Does anyone have any experience with it?
  • bobs5bobs5 Member Posts: 557
The Nicholson bridge is a train bridge. At one point in time, there was a site seeing train ride that went over this bridge. All this was waaaay before my time.
It would be awesome to drive a truck over it. Might be a little bit rough on the suspension though.
NE Pennsy has some spectacular fall scenery with the color change of the leaves. Ah memories. Been about 20 years since I have been up that way.

    15 MPG for a 4X4 ain't all that bad.

I don'tr know why everyone seems to think they can get high gas mileage out of a 4X4 truck.

With a 4X2 you can expect a little better. The change to K&N wouldn't make much difference in mileage. What it will do is open up the top end a little but by giving you more air where the OEM filter tends to be restrictive. Costs are about hundred and a half give or take.

WAKE UP PEOPLE A 4X4 IS NOT AN ECONOMY CAR!

    trippinglizard,
I got the same noise. It sounds like a piece of sheet metal slapping on something - right rear area.
I haven't gotten underneath yet to look, but I was thinking exhaust maybe.
    When was your truck built?

I think I saw a picture of them testing the new Jeep GC on the PA pike. Go to www.car-truck.com and look at the article on the Overland suspension. Maybe Bookitty can recognize what road this is. OK potholes are usually no deeper than 3-4 feet, but that red clay is the pits when it gets soaked. It's like driving on a water bed.
  • okwildcatterokwildcatter Member Posts: 12
OK, I'm looking at some type of bed cover for my QC. Leaning towards the Pace-Edwards Rolltop. Couple of questions:

    1. How easy is it to install yourself?
    2. How reliable/fade resistant is it?
    3. How resistant is water resistant?
    4. Does it help mileage at all?
    5. Is there any noise (rattling/squeaking) while
    driving?

Any personal observations/experiences would be welcome. BTW, the best price I've found (shipping included) is $543. Can I do better?

The Mopar Cold Air Induction system (a rebranded K&N FIP Gen II, I believe), Gibson Single Swept catback, and Mobil 1 really didn't do anything for my 5.9L 4x4 gas mileage (up or down). But the good news is that I got more performance without sacrificing gas mileage. BTW, I wish I was getting 15 mpg city with my 5.9!!
  • bookittybookitty Member Posts: 1,303
Steve, two to three foot deep "pock marks" do not constitute potholes in PA. The road pictured while appearing charming and rural would never draw the attention of PENDOT nor would it awaken their workers as they sleep peacefully, gently resting their chins on shovel handles. Steve, you're going to have to do better than that.

bobs5 - how could driving over the Nicholson bridge in a Quad be any different than driving on a PA road???
  • bobs5bobs5 Member Posts: 557
I guess the only difference would be the depth of the ditches on each side of the road. Also, I don't recall seeing farmer Clem's tractor crossing the bridge.
Ha ha ha you guys are too much.
  • namfflownamfflow Member Posts: 202
Well, as promised, I called Chrysler today. They have confirmed that the hood insul;ation is no longer being put on the SLT or the R/T. The reason I was given was that there is enough distance between the hood and the engine that heat buildup is not an issue as they originally thought and they do not believe it offers enough sound insulation. They also believe that the problems like salt water and corrosion is more of a problem in the long run. Also the hood insulation is not available as an option.

The badges have not been discontinued and they want to know about any getting out without them. It means someone isn't doing their job.

The 22 to 20 gallon tank change listed in the brochure as a mid year change, they cannot find anyone who knows anything about it. They can't even find it in the brochure!! (This is a club and regular cab change)

Anyway, that is the story from the horses mouth.

Since I have a 07 with hood insulation, if my 01 doesn't have it at least I will be able to judge myself whether it makes a difference or not. I'll report my opinions after I pick up my 01.

    Ray,

thanks for taking the time to call DC, I know a number of us in the forum were wondering what was going on. It would appear DC is trying to cut corners wherever they can.

    Bob
  • jeffghsjeffghs Member Posts: 11
    Ray,
I too appreciate the call to DC, do you have the info on who you spoke with and the number to DC, as I would be happy to let them know that my Quad made it without the badges. Also I am curious about the console light not being present either.

On a good note, I did receive a spare tire lock (cable type), which I am not sure if it was something thrown in by the dealer, or from the factory that way.

Macey - After swapping some e-mails with fat_fenders re:his Yakima set up (which is pretty sweet -- ask him to e-mail you some pics), I ventured onto the Yakima website and discovered that they offer an aftermarket roof rack system as well. You can check it out at:

    http://www.yakima.com/products/dynamic/8001126_7.html

I didn't check to see if it would work the the QC's. But you can probably call Yakima about this. If it does work, I believe the Yakima system would offer you more options now and in the future relative to the types of things you'll be able to carry with your rack.

Picked up my ST 4WD 4.7 mid February. No insulation. Last week wife drove truck while I was out of town. Drove truck several hundred miles, about 100 on freeway. Yesterday she told me that the truck front tires seems to bind when making a sharp turn. I backed the truck out of the driveway and noticed the binding of the front tires as the steering wheel approached lock. Then I look down at the 4WD switch as noticed it was in 4WD, NOT 2WD. I turned switch to 2WD and the binding disappeared. I haven't heard or noticed any damage from driving the truck 200 miles in 4WD on the street, but know this should not be done. Apparently the wife accidentally hit the switch and didn't notice it.

My question now is what is the potential damage that could have occurred and what should I be looking for? Any help from those with knowledge on this subject would be greatly appreciated. I am now duct taping the switch to 2WD to avoid a similar situation in the future. Thanks

Can the PIAA 9007 bulbs be found at the local Pep-Boys OR, do you have to order them from PIAA?

Don't I get enough walking with the Post Office? Well Bob, there is walking and then there is walking! I'm afraid that delivering mail in Petersburg, Virginia does not compare with hiking in the Pennsylvania mountains. I am originally from Washington State and I have found that northern Pennsylvania reminds me most of home in the east.

In answer to your question about the Allegheny Forest, I have only taken a couple of day hikes in that region. I have heard that a section of the new North Country Trail has been completed through that area and I hope to hike it in the future.

I have hiked the AT in Maine from Mount Katahdin to Gorham, New Hampshire. I am familiar with the Mahoosic Notch section. Been there, done that. How did those screaming spruce hens get out there in all those rocks?

No the Big Blue trail does not intersect the Susquehannock Trail, although it does intersect with the AT. The Susquehannock Trail is an 85 mile loop trail that intersects with side trails (North and South Link Trails) to the Black Forest Trail and the Donut Hole Trail.

My most harrowing experience backpacking was while hiking the John Muir Trail in California near Yosemite National Park. A grizzly bear scratched a hole in my tent and thru the pack I was sleeping on that had food in it. Yes I know I should have hung the food in a tree, but I was too tired that night. Thought it was a dog at first and yelled at it, then looked through the hole in the tent and said "oh sh*t!". Finally ran him off by lighting my backpacking stove and nearly burning down the tent. Never a dull moment in the wilds.

I agree that northern Pennsylvania would make a great Dakota club meeting place. I think the fall timeframe would be the best. Worlds End State Park wouldn't be a bad location.

    The Mailman delivers!!!

Ray, I too appreciate you taking the time to call Chrysler about some of our "missing Parts". I got a response back in my e-mail today from the e-mail
I sent to Dodge yesterday complaining about all of the things missing, especially the hood insulation. Their response was that they called and talked to the Sales Manager of Sunset Dodge in Sarasota where I bought my Quad and they said they told the Sales Manager to order whatever it took to make me happy and give me what I felt I paid for. But if the hood insulation is not available as an option, I doubt if the dealer will be able to get it. It will be interesting to see how it works out. I sure hope they find the sensor for the anti-lock brakes and get my new quad cab to me soon, I want it so bad now I can probably overlook the missing parts.
  • namfflownamfflow Member Posts: 202
The phone number I used is the same one in the instructions for tracking your order taken from the DML. The full directions are in those postings. I would suggest doing a search as I am too lazy to reprint everything here.

    1-800-992-1997

Just because the insulation is not offered as an option dosen't mean you can't get it. It can be purchased from parts and installed. The still have to support the previous ones delivered with it. For example if you got into an accident the intent is to restore to OEM condition.

Actually, when I test drive my new Dakota, I may just make a little stink and see if my dealer will be responsive. Face it, it was a quick, no time wasting fleet order. Don't have to waste any time and I can steer them a fair amount of business.

    guys,

I took delivery of my quad earlier this month & it too was missing the hood insulation & console light. I pointed that out to my salesman, that it is listed in the sales brochure as part of the slt package (hood insulation), bucket seat package (console light) & then we also looked at the quad they had on the showroom floor which had the 2 items. He promptly, showed the service manager & agreed to have the 2 items installed. The hood insulation has a kewl ram head design on it, to boot. My quad is also missing the quad badges !!!!!

I have a thought on the pinging noise some may be hearing. I have the 01 Q/C and also still have a '94 slt S/C fullsize. After a year of haveing the 94 truck I started hearing a ping noise when going over bumps and turning. It was driving me crazy. It was a ping noise like tin poping.
I too thought it was the exhaust since I had one put on the truck for sound. I got under the truck and had my wife and kids push the body back and forth sideways and also stand on the bumper and push up and down. We could here the noise and it took me sometime to pin it down. It was the front of the bed near the left side where the panel behind the cab connects to the bottom of the bed. Where the weld was it was pinging. I should have taken the camper shell off and the bed liner out and put a couple of sheet metal screws in it but instead I pulled it apart from under the truck and put a lot of silcone in between and pushed a wedge in it. That stoped the nose for about seven years and just the other day it started agian. Its not in the same place as before and I can't pin it down. This time I will pull the bed liner out and start putting screws in it. If I had a welder I would re weld the seams. I now have 106,000 miles on this truck and its not dead yet and still looks almost new. Next time I will update on my 01 Q/C with 4,000 miles. I've been very busy so I don't write much are get on line much but I do thanks all of you for the form here. Hope this helps

I doubt Pep Boys will carry the 9007's. But most 4x4 or specialty auto stores that sell aftermarket fog lights etc. should carry them. I know they can be bought at Four Wheel Parts (www.4wheelparts.com). This is a nationwide outfit, so there might be a store near you. The prices are not the cheapest, however.

If you want better service from a guy who knows 4x4's and slightly better pricing, call Larry, the owner of Dirtyparts (www.dirtyparts.com) in Los Angeles. His # is 310-390-9086.

Lastly, one of the most inexpensive wholesalers I've found is Earl Owen Co. (800-527-2006). These guys sell truck accessories to a lot of the dealers and custom auto shops here in Dallas. But since they carry so many truck accessories and have a very busy nationwide wholesale and distribution business, they are not always the best people to ask detailed questions to about parts. If you know exactly what you want, they are a good place to order from due to their lower prices.

    Hope this helps.

    William,

One of the first things I complained about in the QC is the "hidden" 4WD selector. It should have been put somewhere that your eyes can easily glance at, especially with that user-friendly knob! I would change the front differential fluid ASAP and check for a burnt smell or gear shavings in the oil, and replace with the recommended fluid. Our more expert forum mechanics may have additional input on this. Please don't duct tape the knob, how gauche!!!!
