Now which brand of car is your favorite? I'm having trouble telling from the shelf displays. LOL

On "The Price Is Right" last evening a teacher won a 228? BMW. Last week someone won a house in a Margariteville location somewhere in the US. I think I'd rather have the BMW.

Interesting way to handle the folks who "reserve" parking spaces till the car gets there.

I’m driving a cargo van into Boston Saturday, moving my daughter up. Her roommate (already there) had to go to the city and reserve a street spot for the day (8 hours). Gets a whole packet of stuff. Signs to put on the meter, flyers to distribute, parking permit, etc. quite a production, but for ~$70 it better be good!

Might get you some immediate gratification but you can get into some serious legal trouble booting a car like that.

Personally I would have just drove over the cones and blocked the other car from even getting to the space.

Big city life, not for me. Boston is cool, however. Hope she really enjoys it and finds her new job rewarding.

The video might have been a setup. The folks just happened to have dropped the lady off with two cones in case a space opened up?

I did see recentlly a car that parked across 4 spots in a remote area of a large parking lot at a box store. Don't if it was a worker or customer. It was a nice car and I could understand someone wanting to protect it by parking out and away and being willing to walk to the entrance.

Loved in China. Now that EVs are becoming ubiquitous why can't GM reintroduce in the US a halo electrified Buick Lacrosse Avenir sedan. Just asking.

Some heavy reading on the efficacy or the UV lights being put in air streams in HVAC units. My search was to see if these do render pollen ineffective because I have spring and fall reactions to pollen along with mold. If they are effective against pollen, I'd check with my HVAC guy about installing one.

My conclusion is that using great filters is a more effective way to handle the pollen.

Also I'd have considered putting up UV lights above my kitchen cabinets to radiate the upper air level. That's the same as the UV units on the wall at some Chick Fil A units and other places. We had them when I was in elementary school in the 1920's.

Just got a call from my Genesis concierge - new radio is finally in. He told me that the part costs $5,350! I couldn’t believe that. Add the labor that will be needed to install it, it could be well over $6,000.

I am bringing the car in on Monday Morning. I just pray this solves the problem. They are giving me a G90 to drive as a loaner. I am crossing my fingers on this - I don’t want to go through the hassle of getting a replacement.

At least those kinds of problems with a new car are a lot less common. I think most of us here can remember when that was not the case.

One is the common, park outside away from structures, and we'll let you know in June or so about
when we start fixing the problem.

I’m pretty sure that’s staged. Otherwise it’s an expensive way to get your revenge as you’d lose your boot. Those are easy to defeat with a screw driver. Just pop that flimsy adjuster lock and off it comes. Keying or slashing tires seems easier, although slashing tire has it’s own drawbacks.

UV sanitizes by breaking molecular bonds in organic matter so it can kill off germs but something as big as pollen would require massive amounts to destroy. I don’t know about hanging something off a wall since long term direct exposure to UV can cause cataracts and skin cancer. Where do they hang those in Chick-fil-A? I’ll eat in the car.

Car runs fine - in fact it is stupendously comfortable, great looking and the ride is phenomenal. The only thing wrong with it is that the communications telematics just don’t work - connecting with cell towers to request roadside assistance or to connect with Genesis concierge services. Other than that it’s running great.

In my previous cars, I never used the SOS button and the contact button rarely. But it would be nice if this expensive fix does the trick.

I really haven’t thought about that, cdn. I would think they will have to pull the dash to get the existing unit out and put the new unit in. From my understanding, this is the only G90 experiencing this glitch.

Driver100 could be right in that it is all related to software.

Key is to install radio unit and install updates slowly, sometimes one a at a time. Analogy is when doing window updates I found that trying to do a few at once can sometimes cause glitches. Lesson learned is to update the oldest first and then work your way up to new ones.

Don't know if they share expertise but probably Genisis might be able to borrow one of their Kia 900 techs. I believe the K900 is similar, if not identical, to the G90.

Well, actually, if you are very far behind on Windows updates (more than one), then the best bet is to do what used to be called a repair install. First, obtain a copy of the latest greatest Windows version (currently 19042.964). This can be obtained in many ways, including directly from Microsoft. With your present Windows running, mount the flash drive containing the new version and run "setup.exe" from the flash drive. Much quicker, and less chance of things going wrong. All of your installed software and data will still be there when you finish.

I remember in the past that if a few updates were present I would check all of them to install. I learned to do one at a time. No issues when I did this. I believe after radio install there is a software update that is usually done and can take a while. Must be done in the correct order and need to watch carefully as system can freeze up. I am wondering if part of an update was not done on abacomike's car. Was there an issue with android play software.

@mlevine, the software in the car’s radio system and telecommunications system were erased 3 times by engineers in California and South Korea and then reloaded 3 times, step-by-step, over a period of 7 working days. None were successful in getting the telecommunications system working correctly. That’s when Genesis Corporate authorized replacing the entire system.

If this does not “fix” the problem, they want to replace the car which can take 3-4 weeks from what they told me. I don’t think they would have authorized that large expenditure if they didn’t think this would solve the problem.

Dealership’s I have worked in were heavily departmentalized - service, parts and sales. Senior Management/Owners held weekly meetings on Saturdays with all managers. Discussions centered on goals and missions in the format of Project Management and did not involve specific issues that were specific to a department. So I would think he is unaware of my problems or he would have called me.

The lady was pretty bossy...telling him where to park and to hurry up and go inside with her...I am very suspicious :o

It was staged. There’s a bunch of these types of YouTubers running around making fake videos that seem to show a) cheating boyfriend/girlfriend reactions, b) parking or vehicle issues, c) pet rescue, d) faked heartwarming videos. Pretty easy to see their faked. They do it to get eyeballs and ad money from YouTube.

Went into the office today and saw something I haven't seen in a long time, a spam fax. It was for business loans.

You can tell some of these videos are staged when you recognize the same actors that you’ve seen in other videos.

What's fax? I'm not sure, but I know Spam is something the advertisement says
not to knock it till you've fried it.

Back in the '90s one of my friends was pulling into a parking spot and a carload of gangsta wannabees cut in front of him and took the spot. They all laughed and flipped him off. He waited until they walked off and he then proceeded to drill out all four valve stems with his cordless drill, leaving their car almost resting on the subframes.
Another friend had a guy in the adjacent parking spot throw open his door and really ding my friend's car; once again the perp laughed and walked off. This was back in the early '80s, so my friend retaliated by squirting cyanoacrylate glue into the door and trunk keyholes- followed by a paperclip.

Yeh, besides the woman in that video would never have gone on a date with that doofus. He probably told her it was her big chance to be in movies. :)

Isn’t that kind of retaliation illegal where you come from? :s
