Even here, those cars mostly vanished by the late 90s, I suspect all survivors are manual now - can't imagine the CVT parts exist anymore.

IIRC, about 95% of Justys were white.

Looking at the market now, I think this was well-bought, indeed. It won't be cheap to run, but infinite style and presence.

Warm day today, which makes for a very warm car. Only in the 80s today, possibly close to 100 next weekend, so the old dear probably won't venture out if the heat becomes that fun.

Car got a few waves and approving glances, and the best interaction, from a little old lady in a store parking lot. She had to come up and look at the car and talk about it. Amusingly, she initially thought it was a Cadillac, until she noticed the hood ornament (and had to point it out). Also got to toot the horn a couple times, as distracted and/or oblivious driving is a national pastime.

In warm weather, I often have the driver's side windows down (as I can reach them):

I didn't watch most of the video, did someone really put a 427 in it, or is it just labeled as such? A 427 is worth a little money, I'd think it's not a bad deal for something wacky, should it have that engine (I can't call 28K "cheap" though

saw out driving a Ford Country squire wagon. Not sure they year, maybe a 67 or 68? Surprisingly small looking, mostly because it was so low. But man, great visibility out of it!

first thought it was an original beater, but after getting closer (and seeing the younger driver) I think it might have been more of a sleeper/rat rod, with a patina'd body/paint. the wheels were definitely not stock, and I did not hear the engine but at one point it changed lanes and scooted.

I actually kind of liked it!

The Caprice was introduced in 65. It had three tail lights on each side, like the Impala. The Plymouth Fury VIP and Ford Galaxie 500 LTD were also introduced that year. Competition for the bigger bucks!

Never see any Neons of any sort/trim/model out on the road anymore. It's as if every head gasket and auto transmission in the junkyards is already gone.

Still a few second gen around here, but the first gen vanished some time ago, hell, 20 years ago my brother was waiting for the head gasket to go in his first gen coupe.

Yuck. That FJ is hiding a whole lot of rot under that paint. It's incredible to me that someone would just do a respray right over top metal in that poor of a condition.

I like the 56 Mercury. Very nice car, but someone got lazy on the shifter. Everything else is pretty appropriate.

Impala looks clean.. but Montana

Secretary Mustang is kinda cool. Put some appropriate tires and cruise (slowly)

At that distance from the car, that plow is way too heavy for that FJ.

Secretary Stang is waaay overpriced.

Put me down for another vote on the Merc, although not at that price, and I agree the shifter is such a weird standout oversight.

I like the baby Mopar. 3” exhaust on a naturally aspirated, carbureted 225 ci? That ain’t gonna work right.

If that 225 had the full Clifford (the "6=8" folks) treatment it might work ok, they have lots of performance parts available.

Took the fintail into the local shop I was hoping wouldn't turn it away - old timer mechanic there liked the car and isn't scared of it, apparently he worked for the local MB dealer in the 70s and 80s. Sometime in the next couple months I'll drop it off there with a list of potential needs, and a budget where they are free to spend. Other than the yearly service, I have a suspicion the brakes may be getting close to replacement, engine mounts are very old, maybe check the driveline as I get an odd noise at some speeds, etc.

Did my morning errands and some cruising in the car, had several people ask me about it, and some waves etc. I guess as time goes on, the car becomes less common, and is now really a hen's tooth.

If I had a car that wore exterior louvers back in the day, I'd probably have some for it.

Hard to tell from the photo but they seem to somehow screw into interior pieces. Maybe they use existing screw holes.

Not really a whole lot of money and I know they are something you've thought about for a while.

In the 80s my Mom had an 85 Dodge Charger… it of course had the louvers. I remember them being so common that cars without them looked weird.

My '85 Accord hatch had them installed, already. I was trying to find a picture of it on my hard disk but came up empty.

I am going to make contact about the blinds and confirm how they are mounted. I worry about damaging interior bits, especially the rear window seal and headliner, the latter of which has seen a few seams start to fail over the past several years, age catches up.

I recall these things with louvers a bit back in the day, too:

My 4 prior cars had a rear sunshade, which I kept closed most of the time, so I could probably live with it.
