OK, so I asked him and his response was:

"Multiple sources (including many dealer websites) are showing it reduced down to $3750.
Others are conflicting obviously.
It isn't clear if the reduction went into effect immediately, if it got flowed out early ahead of a May 1 effective date, or if someone screwed up something.
I've been trying to get some confirmation, but haven't had much luck yet."

So I guess his source wasn't that clear.

I won't be surprised to see changes to lease incentives on PHEV or EVs with the new programs in May. We were sort of expecting some changes to align with the new IRS guidelines last week, but that didn't happen.

I'll stay tuned for sure. Of course, there are many ways CCAP can handle this. Compared to MY22, the MF is currently much higher on the MY23 so even if CCAP was to decide to cut the credit to $3,750, it would not necessarily mean you would be paying that much more over the term of the lease if the MF would go down, too.

The IRS-guidelines certainly impacted the tax credit for financing/buying but since leasing falls under the commercial law, the new guidelines do not impact leasing. Of course, how much (if any) of the $7,500 are passed on to the consumer is at the manufacturer's/bank's discretion - but that was always the case.

A good friend of mine is a CPA and has leased / bought several EVs over the years, so he fills me in on a lot of the tax implications of these changes. The fact that the leasing incentives may stick around is good for the customer, as we continue to pivot to more EV (and PHEV) sales.

Guess I got lucky then. I was able to get my dealer to agree on 5% below invoice. I was also able to obtain an additional $1,000 personal cash code through jeep.com and will be getting another 1% off invoice (about $800) through the Affiliate Program/Tread Lightly. Dealer Fees plus taxes/registration & a Wheel & Tire insurance will be a total of $3,200.

I put $500 down. Although the current RV isn't great, all discounts, rebates & incentives come up to almost $21,000.

Using the May numbers, we are looking at a monthly payment of about $840 incl. tax. It's been a very long time since I've seen such a low payment on a vehicle with an MSRP of $85,000.

On top of that, there will be some healthy equity in this vehicle on day 1...

I currently lease a MY22 Grand Cherokee Summit 4xe and all I got on that vehicle was a $1,000 incentive, the $7,500 tax credit and 1% below invoice pricing through Tread Lightly. MSRP on this vehicle was $79,980 and my monthly lease for 39m/10k miles is just shy of $1,100.

So switching to a car with more features (and a $5k higher MSRP) AND being able to reduce the monthly payment by $250 is not that bad. Although I just obtained that lease in January, it also has some equity in it. My dealer already agreed on paying kbb "good condition trade-in value" plus $1,000.

Yes, it is.

I ordered a MY23 Summit Reserve 4xe and a MY23 Trailhawk 4xe at that dealer and I will be trading in my current vehicles which are leases as well (the same models - just MY22).

If you take the MY23 Summit Reserve, MSRP is $84,770 (basically fully loaded minus the metallic paint). Invoice is $82,300. 5% below invoice would be $78,192 - so $6,578 below MSRP. From there, you can deduct an additional $800 for the Affiliate Pricing, $1,000 for the personal cash offer (both are basically available to everybody), the $5,000 CCAP May lease incentives and the $7,500 CCAP tax credit - so in total, another $14,300.

If you add the below invoice discount of $6,578 to the $14,300, you can potentially get a discount of $20,878.

I took the MSRP of $84,770, added the $3,200 in taxes/fees and deducted $21,378 (the above mentioned discount plus my $500 down payment).

That gets me to a cap cost of the vehicle of $66,592 - or for the lease calculator, a net down payment of $18,178.

With a MF of 0.00170 and a residual of 51% @ 39 months / 10k miles/year, I'm getting a monthly payment of $840.67.

If you look at the competition, I don't think ANY other vehicle in this class can compete with that. How much would a $85k BMW X5 cost right now? $1,300/month?
