    Wanted to report on my 11/27/2023 deal. Lee Nissan, Wilson NC. Leased a brand new 2024 Nissan Altima VC-T SR 4dr Sedan (2.0L 4cyl Turbo CVT). List price $37,330. 3 years, 12,000 miles/year. Money factor .00373, means 8.95 percent interest!. Residual 70%. Traded in my previously leased 2021 Rogue SL, 33,113 miles and about 5 weeks to go on that lease. Did not have to make my 36th payment, Dealer gave me $24750 in trade value, payoff at that time was $21,265, so a net $3485 in trade allowance. This my fifth time turning in a lease and leasing a new Nissan, first time ever I have managed to get a trade in allowance on the previous lease. Did not even know that was possible! $500 loyalty rebate. We negotiated a bit...he gradually increased my trade value from $23,000 to $24,500 to $24,750. And they add a high-profit package including tint, wheel locks, and Weathertech style floor mats for $499. I asked him to take away the mats (these cars have a nice set of special SR mats already) and he agreed to cut $200 off. I can especially see value in the tint since the seats are dark charcoal sport leather. Very hot in NC. So the penultimate offer sheet had a payment of $397 a month, only up-front cost was the first payment. I told him I'd do the deal if he moved from $24500 to $24750 in trade vale. He agreed to that. When the final contracts came, there were oddities. $452 up front highway use tax, even though the tax is in every payment. And $844 up front down payment plus first payment of $384 due, for a total of $1288 up front. BUT he agreed to pay the $844. My total up-front: $384.55 first payment. No $395 lease disposition fee from my previous lease. So, my final deal: $384.55 up front, 35 more payments of $384.55 ($372.99 lease plus $11.56 3 percent NC tax).

    Again, the $452 tax up front was an oddity, but he covered it and more with agreeing to pay the $844. I think the only tax I owed up front was the 3 percent on the $500 rebate, so a tax of $15. When I crank this deal in Edmunds and other online lease calculators and leave out the $452 in tax, it results in him giving me about a $3527 discount on the list price, plus my $3485 trade allowance and the $500 rebate to get to the $384.55 payment. But the $699 doc fee, $96 tag transfer, $695 acquisition fee, $299 for wheel locks and tint, and any up front taxes were rolled into the lease. And bonus: first oil change is free, full tank of gas, and 3 free months on Sirius XM. And 3 free years of Nissan Connect.

    Net is that I am super pleased with the car and the deal. Paying only the first payment up front at $384.55 was pleasant. And my previous Rogue payment was $364...but that lease I gave $1600 up front, including cap cost reduction and first payment. For a vehicle very similar in list price to my Altima. Message to others turning in a lease: used car prices are crazy! Find a dealer willing to give you an allowance in trade!

    Of course...I see on the dealer's website they listed my 2021 Rogue for $29,500!

    I will say that the people at this dealership were the nicest I have ever dealt with at a dealership.
