    In a lease worksheet for the 2024 Equinox 2RS (FWD) the dealer applied the GM Supplier discount for $1000 but then showed it being taxed at 65% so it only reduced the cap cost by less than $350. I couldn’t find any specific language about the rebates being taxed but I thought they were applied after dealer discounts and sales taxes. Also tried looking at WI tax rules. Can anyone confirm if this is normal? Seems like a waste if most of the rebate is taxed.

    The upfront tax on rebates should be at your local sales tax rate (5.5%?)

    But, were there other large rebates or CAP cost reductions? Perhaps this was upfront tax on all of them? Or, all of the upfront charges on the lease, rather than just tax?

    In Section VI:
    They've really screwed up..

    In the additions and subtractions, they've basically added in the value of the vehicle twice.

    And, then, when they get down to the "Total amount paid to leasing company", they've added the residual value of the vehicle, when they should have subtracted it.

    MINUS $35887
    should = $10,743 (not $82,518)

    It's a pretty convoluted way to calculate tax on the upfront money, in any event.

    But, the main reason you aren't getting $1000 of CAP reduction is that the 1st payment is coming out of the $1000 rebate

    $433/mo payment
    $55/mo. upfront tax on the $1000 (which also seems wrong, but..)
    $338 CAP reduction

    that still leaves $175 or so unaccounted for.

    I can't believe this comes out of the computer like this. I'd love to see a screenshot of the computer.

    Thanks, that makes a bit more sense. I will clarify with the finance person tomorrow. Unfortunately the salesperson wasn’t super confident with the worksheet, it seemed like they just stumbled on that computer tab to try to explain the deal to me.
