Those small CUVs seem a bit light on luxury to be considered luxury coupes.

I can see it. A style statement. Difference being they aren’t form over function like the old horribly inefficient (including space) barges.

Also more geared to young people not 60 Yo men.

Exactly - more of a "look at me" type decision.

@corvette - yeah, not a lot from a luxury standpoint (none of these are going to ride like a G-body, T-Bird, Cordoba, etc.)

Our taxes are the last ones done as she does all her clients first. We always get a refund and since she pays quarterly, we never see it in our account. But right now is her real busy time, so I tend to keep things real quiet since my office is right next to hers.

OF, we got our profit sharing on the 14th like last year but I've heard a lot of grumbling from some co-workers that they got less then last year...much less. Checked on mine and sure enough, was less also but not something I was angry about. There must be a formula they use to get the amounts we all get...all seem to be different. Thinking the amount of years one has been with the company plays a part in the calculation. Since I've never gotten profit sharing before working for Enterprise, am happy with whatever they give us!

Our profit sharing was down a bit from last year also. We got about 75% of last time.. Still a nice piece of change out of the goodness of the company’s heart. We were jokingly blaming each other that it was because the chase driver gassed up at the expensive station and ruined the company’s profits.

Then you would have loved my ‘75 Grand Prix with the 400 cu. in. V8 with white landau top. Almost needed binoculars to see the hood ornament when seated in either of the front bucket seats. No one seated in the back seats even knew there was a hood ornament. B)

At one of the summer car shows I attend I once parked next a to an 80's era Olds 98 Regency coupe that was a routine attendee. Black over red. Absolutely mint condition and low miles.

It had quite a few gawkers with many people talking to the owner and reminiscing about an era were those cars were common or sharing stories of one they owned. The owner himself said it was one of the best riding and most comfortable cars he's ever owned.

Did truck things today. Picked up a large box with an exercise bike in it (121#s worth). Was able to back up to the door and they wheeled lot out on a handtruck, tipped it onto the tailgate and shoved it into the bed. 1 guy, 15 seconds. Rolled the cover closed and shut the tailgate and was off. Much nicer not having to crawl around inside the suv to wrestle it over the back seat ledge.

Fun getting it in the house though (with steps) with just my wife to help! Good thing cardboard slides easily.

I am supposed to avoid grapefruit, although I thought it was a specific variety.
Since I can't remember which one, I avoid them all.

I had an ‘80 Park Ave that was a very comfy ride on any type of roads. I’ve referred to it as a real “sleeper” in here a few times not because of how it would perform at the stop light Grand Prix but because you needed a box of NoDoz to get you safely back and forth from the grocery store.

EVs should for many rental situations work well. A lot of rentals (from my business renting days!) are low miles. So if I need to fly in and drive to a hotel than an office and back and only do maybe 50 miles an EV is just fine.

I suspect a bigger part of the problem is Hertz sending them out with 10% charge and hitting renters for an obscene amount if they don’t recharge.

Folks also had a '75 Grand Prix with a half vinyl roof...black body, white roof & a blood red velour interior. Typical mid '70's GM iron. Fun to drive but the last 2-door the folks had after my grandma read my dad the riot act for not having a 4-door vehicle anymore. It was a demo that my dad bought which he did with all their new vehicles until he passed suddenly in 1986. They were all just appliances to him at that time having retired at 47 while I was in 9th grade. All those years of driving Cadillacs & Lincolns were all charged to the family business I found out years later.

    Tales from the car wash:

I learned to be careful taking my truck to the car wash in really cold temps the other day. I just had to get the salt off of it so I went through at about 19 degrees. No problem driving home but the next day while driving to work in even colder weather I was getting some sort of weird vibration almost like a really bad wheel bearing. Assuming that it was ice somewhere in the wheels and noticing that the truck was totally salted up again I returned to the wash. No vibrations on the way this time so whatever was frozen had melted.

I go into the wash and after getting half the truck sprayed with soap the machine shut off and directed me out. The air dryer didn’t even work. Boy, was I mad.

Fortunately, a worker just happened to be there today and after complaining to him he told me to go to the other bay for a freebie. He must have felt sorry for me because he programmed the full package. I got underbody wash, double cleaning, surface protectant and wax.

    Now that’s customer service.

The only bad thing is that even after a full wash and a half, rivulets of salt still ran down out of gaps and corners. Man, I hate winter.

I had the same problem at the Sam’s Club gas station (cheapest around). As I approached, about a dozen cars drove in ahead of me and I decided a long wait wasn’t worth it. Then as I started to leave I noticed one pump completely empty. Evidently all the other cars were playing follow the leader and lined up 6 or 7 deep. I zipped in and filled up with RUG for $2.93.

You make your own wine? That’s impressive. Who jumps up and down on the grapes?😅 I could send you one Bully Hill bottle a week if that would help. Unfortunately they went to plastic corks years ago.

The Golf needs a bath in the worst way...and a wax wouldn't hurt either. Hate to say it's been too long since I had that done though it's as shiny as it was the day I drove it off the lot. The local collision place did a great job blending the deep blue color out back & no one can tell it was in a major accident! And I've kept the ivory interior pretty nice also with almost no stains. I really need to get it waxed as I can no longer bend down and do it myself...that ship sailed long ago! And from what I hear, prices for a decent detail have gone up even though there are many guys doing it at some local gas stations. My co-worker had his done a few weeks back for $60 which I thought was pretty reasonable actually. Rain is called for the next 48 hours, so Wednesday might be the perfect day to get it done. Should be a bit milder outside so I can just sit under a tree when they do it. N/S that day & Thursday so I'll see how things go.

Spent the afternoon running around getting quotes on quartz countertops for the kitchen project. I know next to nothing about the stuff and it seems there are all sorts of different manufacturers. One thing I didn't know is that it comes in different thicknesses which is directly reflected in the pricing. Quotes ranged from just over 3K for a 2cm slab to just under $6K in worthless Canadian dollars for a 3cm thick top. Aside from not having a thicker edge visible, I'm unsure what other issues the thinner stuff might bring. That is a big savings though.

ETA: I may be biased towards one supplier because they had a staff member's French Bulldog frolicking around in the showroom. What a sweet doggo.

In our last house, we replaced the worn out linoleum with quartz - one color for the countertop, and a second color for the island. We really liked the way it turned out, but I don't remember any conversations about thickness when we placed the order.

A 1.5 CM edge just isn’t going to look good IMO. Thats only 5/8”. Standard counter thickness is around 1.25” to 1.5”

I’d also worry about cracking with such a thin slab. I wonder if they can build the edge up via fabrication and it would still be cheaper than a full 3CM? That’s the way it was done with laminate tops for years.

Ours is 3CM. We weren’t offered anything else.

That was a misread on my part. It is actually 2cm.

I did some research online and apparently 2cm is not uncommon now.

I asked about a built-up edge and they were not encouraging, saying that the labor involved would make it not much cheaper than the 3cm stuff.

One place (which was my least favorite of the 3) was a big Corian shop. I was never a big fan of it but they had a couple of samples of a Corian product that I actually liked. Gray Onyx or White Onyx, which had a subtle swirl pattern in it. It was actually a bit cheaper than that shop's quartz quote.

Similar car wash story, Audi really needed a bath. Went to local two bay touchless, big line. So, went to lunch, came back, big line. Got in line, realized only one bay was online. Finally washed, not a great job but seemed to get most of the evil spirits out.

Just got back from the touchless. Only one car in front of me (that was just entering the bay when I arrived) so not too long. Does a pretty good job and the Acura is no longer coated in salt grime. And underside sprayed off. Should keep me until DIY Season. I might drag the hose across the snow tomorrow to hose off the truck and get underneath. That one is no where near as bad. I don’t feel like paying for the car wash again though!
