    The chequebook still has personalized cheques with a “19” prefix on them.

    Are you talking about the late 1900s? I've moved my checking account between several banks since then.

    Funny enough … our cleaning service always took Venmo and all of sudden can’t anymore, so have to write her a check or just remember to grab cash

    My best friend got banned from Venmo, and now uses Cashapp... yes, I've made her aware of the "implications" of that platform.

    that's why cash is still king. unless you are the 1 person that will still report that!

    It's somewhat common for attorneys who practice certain areas of law to have a large safe deposit box at the bank, and tell their accountant they average $500 a week in cash receipts.

    Found this on our front door. It's a thing around here.

    There are products that clip onto gutters/trim and provide LED downlighting. I think someone may have tried to franchise it as a business, but the parts are probably available on TeeMoo for cheap.

    @corvette,
    A lot of the lights are installed into the soffit overhangs. Sort of like can lights in a ceiling. It's some work to install.
    I call them 7-11 lights.

    I think it's the equivalent of hair colors sometimes put into hair, mostly by ladies, like red, green, purple, blue, usw..

    I wanted to until by billing period closed out this month to order a bed cover for my F-150.
    Today is the day and price went down $40, so I immediately ordered it.

    Oh dear. I think I discovered a new Vanilla problem. Maybe @Kirstie_H can look into it. I tried to quote a post above from @corvette and despite several attempts, nothing got quoted here. Trying it on an iPad using Safari.

    To answer corvette’s question, yes - those cheques were from a supply my bank sent me after I moved here in ‘97. Still haven’t used them up.

    I'm not having any trouble quoting.. Though, Vanilla is definitely bogging down at times. I'll click quote a 2nd time, and then the previous post will copy twice. I'll pass it on.

    I am amazed at how satellite connectivity with today's modern cars with upscale technology can make changes in the software. i have complimentary Genesis Connected Services for the life of the car - not just for 3 or 4 years. Periodically, my maps, radio, and all the software that is in the head unit are updated via satellite.

    As an example, I have an Apple iPhone 16+ and use Car Play every so often. When I got the car in September of last year, the only way I could connect my phone with Car Play was by plugging it in to one of the USB ports. About 4 months ago, I got into my car one morning and, to my surprise, Apple Car Play appeared on my main screen - in other words, once I got into the car with my iPhone on and started the engine, Car Play was available in a wireless version. So I contacted my dealership's service department and inquired about the seemingly "miraculous" change in my connection with Car Play. The service manager explained to me that a fairly large update was transmitted to 2023 and 2024 Genesis G90's which included the ability to connect with Car Play wirelessly.

    This stuff knocks me off my feet at times. Maybe it's just my age, but I consider myself fairly savvy as regards computers and technology. So I really shouldn't be surprised at the surging uses of technology via satellite signals. But I was just stymied due to my unexpected updates in my car.

    BTW, I have about 3300 miles on the odometer after 5-1/2 months of driving the car and still find the ride, handling, power, comfort and luxury features to be truly delightful. I love this car, but since it is a lease, I probably won't have it as long as I would have liked. The residual is about $50,000 - so there is no way I am going to buy this car at the end of the lease. A three year old G90 is certainly not going to be worth that much at the end of 3 years even though mine is the one with the electric super=charger and the upgraded interior. Who knows - I might not be driving in 2-1/2 years - or maybe I will and will have to lease another car.

    I have some garage organization in my near future, too. I convinced the wife that a power snow shovel would take up less space than the current (broken) snow blower I have, so it's now sitting in a box in the front entryway.

    Hoping to get to it later this week.

    @stickguy,
    It's a full crew cab with 5 1/2 foot bed. Next up is getting a tailgate assist strut.

    @tjc78,
    Yesterday, I started installing the bed cover and noticed some gasket gaps in the front so I went to HD today and bought a 10 ft auto/marine grade gasket.
    When I looked at the front of the cover today, the gasket must have relaxed a bit because I only saw a couple of small gaps between the bedliner and the side rails at the front. Ended up using just over an inch of the gasket material. I do at least have it now if I do end up needing it.

    @explorerx4 - I'm sure you already know this, but the tonneau is never going to be fully waterproof. The one in the Maverick is definitely "good enough" in that department, for my purposes.

    I was surprised how well mine seals. In a downpour in the highway I only see a small amount of water that seeped down the corner in the channels. Pretty much anything in the bed stays dry

    I have a 20 cu/ft rooftop cargo box for the Explorer that also fits in the truck bed if I need to keep things completely dry.
    This new cover should be pretty good. Anything is better than the cover I had on my previous truck which leaked by the gallon. The leaks were along the seams where it folded not around the cover perimiter.

    Yup! Feels like spring so I put on the new truck bed cover. Swapped out the snow blower and lawn mower(Oh! Oh!). Put the battery charger on the Mustang.

    I couldn’t imagine not having a bed cover. Adds so much versatility to the bed. Mine is water tight too

    My 2019 Long Bed Tacoma had the factory tri fold tonneau cover that was very water tight. When I got this 2023 Short Bed I said to myself that I was going to get a tonneau cover 1st thing. Then I said to myself, let’s see if I need it. Turns out I’m a year and a half in and haven’t needed one. Hockey bags & equipment go in the bed. If it’s pouring rain the stuff is made to get wet anyway.

    I use mine as a giant trunk, as I intended when I picked the Maverick over a CUV. I have a bed divider bar that lets me keep items at the back of the bed for easy unloading.

    My last 2 trucks got 5 to 6 percent better mileage with the bed cover on.
    That's why I bought one.

    I made a divider bar out of a 2x6 for the rear most notches in the bed walls. The perfect size for reusable shopping bags (and paper bags) to fit between the board and the tailgate. Keeps them from moving.

    the cover keeps stuff from getting wet. Or "walking away". We also use the truck for travelling so I can fill the back with luggage and stuff and it doesn't blow out on the highway.

    "Speaking of tracking, has anyone heard anything about these nationwide walkie talkies? They use cell towers, cost about $300. with no monthly subscription cost. Supposedly can't be tracked or hacked, and nothing is saved to anywhere. Sounds like they would be a criminal's best friend."

    I hear the ads on the overnight Coast to Coast radio show. That show is into conspiracy theories, aliens, bigfoot, etc., so it makes sense that they would advertise there

    Actually felt real warmth outside for the first time in about 4 months. It was wonderful. Going away again tomorrow for a couple days but still a nice tease that spring might actually after all. Maybe.

    It's beautiful here. 70s. Wow.
    But wait 10 days, and it may be freezing and windy.
    If I had a convertible, I'd put the top down.
