If you're going to drive 15,000 miles a year, the overage charges if you go with a 10K or 12K lease will negate any savings in the monthly payment.

There is no "sweet spot" for mileage - get however many you think you'll need. The payment difference is negligible.

With that to put in into perspective, an additional 2% residual between 12k miles and 15k miles is about $1044 over 36 months. (MSRP is $59805 for an elite). Honda charges between .15 and .25 cents a mile. So overage mileage is between $150 and $250 per 1000 miles. So it does make a difference. So 3k extra miles is between $450 and $750 and that 2% reduces the monthly by $29. So it does matter.

If Honda charges .20 per mile for overage, and you drive 15K per year on a 12K lease, that's 6000 extra miles, or $1200 in fees.

I'm not sure that going with the lower mileage allowance when you know you're going to exceed it makes sense, financially. I'd rather pay the $576 in extra payments rather than $1200 in one lump sum at lease end.

The dealer quoted me $355/month for 36 months (10k mi/year) with $3,500 due at signing, using MF 0.00133 and 47% residual. They’re applying $14,500 in total incentives (no breakdown) but I’m not sure if the $5,500 captive lease cash is being properly applied.

They’re only offering $1,000 for my trade-in. Also, the car’s MSRP is listed at $59,980, but that’s inflated due to aftermarket add-ons like tint, ceramic coating, and a tracking system (Car RX).

Just trying to understand how the $5,500 lease cash from HFS should show up in the deal so I can make sure everything is being passed on to me properly.

If you have $14,500 in incentives, it pretty much has to include the $5500. It will be applied as a CAP cost reduction.

Those aftermarket add-ons don't affect the true MSRP, that they calculate the residual off of. In my experience, all of the aftermarkets have little value

No it was more to see what 15k miles looked like to see if I could justify it over paying for 3k miles over the course of the lease, not per year.

No it was more to see what 15k miles looked like to see if I could justify it over paying for 3k miles over the course of the lease, not per year.

The main problem with driving 13K/yr, when you are contracted for 12K/yr, is you look for reasons not to drive your car. So, while you might come out ahead. ($600 overage vs $1200 lower residual), you won't like it.

That's my take, anyway. I'm all about the math, but moderating your driving is no fun, either.
