I have got dropped for "non-use" recently. I was OK with that as I still have other lines of credit I use and I didn't like their card anyway.

Flame suit on… but I wouldn’t toss it from the garage (at a more reasonable price of course!)

    @tjc78,
What would you consider a more reasonable price?
It is priced way too high.

Who knows what it is really worth but for me it is definitely under 10K… probably $6000 is all the money

Yeah, that price is…”optimistic” to say the least. I actually was looking for a good condition, low mileage one like that during my hooptie days but most in my area were trashed. I think there was a convertible 2 door version that I really wanted. 10 years ago they were $2-3k.

Cool car but yeah price is optimistic. Listed for 4 weeks with a 1K reduction, other half wants the owner to sell and this is the attempt perhaps.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,858
Spotted in a local estate sale ad, scant details aside from mileage (49K) as typical for an estate sale company which are often jack of all trades but master of none, price listed as "best offer" - I see it's on a YOM plate which may bode well, no doubt it'll be a project:

i suspect freshly hosed off - looks like some soap on the ground. Ad made no mention that it actually runs but mentions it has records. In my experience estate sale people are often a bit clueless about cars, either wildly overpricing things or giving them away.

My aunt had a 1985 model. I really liked it. She got t-boned at an intersection in 1992, and she was heartbroken.

That is a nice one, pretty rare with blue interior by 1989. Biggest issue with those is the ABS parts are hard to come by. Air suspension too, but that’s easily handled by the aftermarket.

The LSC in the link you posted is the same model year has the same mileage as the one I posted.

Better secure a source of spare parts before you buy. If my MarkVIII was any guide, they’re tough to come by.

our 1969 Volvo was the common medium blue they used back then, with a darker blue interior. Very sharp!

I know MB has a blue or two as a Designo manufaktur option, but you'll pay up for the privilege. Here's a late model G-Wagen with blue interior:

When I lived in Richland in the late 70s I almost bought a lightly used 300D, light blue with dark blue interior, from the dealer in Spokane. I decided against it because I didn't want to go all the way to Spokane for service. Later found out that there was a mechanic in Richland that Mercedes owners came from other communities to use. Damn!

I am surprised Richland didn't have a dealer yet. I know they did by the mid 80s, as I recall seeing it when I was a kid (Tri Cities seemed like a big city compared to Moses Lake, as it had a mall, a Toys R Us, more less mainstream car dealers, etc).

The MB dealer in Spokane at the time was Sutherland Motors, who would become MB of Spokane around Y2K I think.

When I was there, Richland was a fairly small community of people who glowed vaguely in the dark. The dealer that I bought my Scirocco from also sold Honda or Toyota or some such (possibly John Deere). I understand that it grew quickly after that.

Tri Cities is over 300K total now, but very spread out so at least in my experience there's little traffic. Everywhere in WA seems to have grown similarly - Moses Lake is more than double the population of when I was a kid, Spokane is noticeably larger, and of course the Seattle skyline is a different world.

I visited Richland about 20 years ago. It was a small city then. Memories of it are vague, nothing really stood out aside from the tumbleweeds blowing along the roadside just out of town..

Yes. I remember two things about Richland. The tumbleweeds are the first. The second is the 90:10 temperature; 90 in summer and 10 in winter.

Yeah, true that. I was talking about averages, but if it got its back into it could venture well over 90 and well below 10.

These days weather patterns or climate change is altering that a little - not as cold in the winter. Still plenty of tumbleweeds though.

I wonder what the trend is in Fairbanks for snow and cold. In Spokane anyway, by NOAA data the past few decades are trending warmer and less snowy. Summer thunderstorms also seem to be less frequent. Either the 80s were a cold cycle (we had snow on the ground every Christmas in Moses Lake, and I recall people driving on the frozen lake, doesn't happen these days). As a snow lover, it can be disappointing - last winter was a bust and this winter is doubling down on that idea.

Parts of eastern WA during windstorms can be amusing - tumbleweeds pile up into small mountains.

Overall, far less cold than in the past. Much of that is due to the often-persistent “polar vortex” that is very fond of pulling cold air into the upper-Midwest region, with then draws the warmer oceanic air into Alaska. This is, without a doubt, the coldest winter since the turn of the century. It is definitely catching many off guard. I’m actually surprised how many folks say they’ve never seen it this cold, and that they came here at some point since then.

However, precipitation is way up by comparison to the old normal, especially during the non-snow months. Actual snowpack is trending lighter, but much due to warmer fall weather that melts what used to be the bottom foot or two of snow pack.

We tend to be far below normal, snow wise, into January, then get heavier precipitation in March and April that come close to getting us there again.

The worst part is the more frequent winter ice storms or rain events that make everything undriveably slick. At least one nearly every year now, where it used to be maybe once a decade.

I think the polar vortex is the same force keeping us in a warm flow too. The past few days have been "normal" here (low 30s for highs, 20s for lows) that it feels cold, and is set to warm up later this week. We average maybe 45-50" of snow per season, last season we had maybe half that, and so far this season we're at maybe 2-3", it's looking like a rerun, with implications for the summer when snowpack is useful. Right now the Spokane River is roaring like snowmelt season due to rain and melt.

One thing, if this keeps up I may not have to put the old car in hibernation as much, as most of the cold season so far has seen clean roads.

Same thing in Dallas - set several record high temps the last couple of weeks, temps have been pretty consistently above normal starting in the fall.
