My car starts fine in the mornings, and at night. (when it is cool) but when i start it in the afternoons after it has been sitting in the heat all day it dosent start. The starter cranks but then engine dosent turn over. I was looking at other peoples postings and i saw that i am not the only person with this problem. If anybody has any idea what is wrong with my car, please reply,. Thanks.
(i tried using the fuel injector fluid, and the car started right up. but if there is a problem i want to fix it, and not just keep buying the fuel injector fluid.)
I have 7,000 miles on my 05 and I have a chip on the hood. I wonder if it is because the hood sets so low. I don't remember having a chip problem with my other brand vehicles. They were from american auto companies.
My salesman told me that the critical time to treat leather is when you go from cold to hot; from winter to spring. He said that I need to treat it when the days started warming to 40 or 50 degrees coming out of winter.
I have 8,000 miles on my 05 haven't notice any chips on the hood. The only place that i notice has chips is under my front bumper, which was my fault actually :P. But your probably right the Accord's hood does dip down low, and small rocks may have damaged it.
Actually, you dont need to take the door frame off from what I remember. I had to clean part of a broken magnet from the window motor in my '90 some time ago and I was able to remove the entire glass assembly just by taking the door interior off. The door and everything else can stay on the car, just take off the door interior and you will have to undo the bolts that attach the window assembly to the sheet metal of the door but it CAN all be done. Good luck.
You have a chip in your hood because you ran into a stone or other debris kicked into the air by a truck or other vehicle. Why would you presume that it has to do with the design of your vehicle?
This happens to every brand of car, thousands of times a day, all over the globe. Sorry, but it just happened to be your turn this time.
I brought the car into my dealer yesterday and they immediately heard the whistling and agreed its a problem. They spent a good amount of time driving it and came to the conclusion after calling the tech line that the transmission needs to be completely replaced with a brand new one. The whistling goes away when you put the car in neutral or let off the gas in some cases. They said with the car being new and having such low miles, they did not want to take a chance. New transmission at 500 miles? Is that some sort of record?? I will post followups when its replaced next week. If you go the dealer in the meantime, let me know just in case I should stop the replacement
"I don't think too many accord buyers made their purchase decision based on the accord's handling..."
I find this statement to be absurd. My major reason for buying a 2005 LX was based on the way it drives. (The standard curtain air bags was another reason.) I found the Camry's handling vague. There is very little feedback from the road and the steering seemed almost loose. The mild sensation of sway produced during sharp turns was particularly disturbing to me. It is most definitely quiet and soft.
For whatever reason, I happen to be one of those drivers who likes a firm ride.
Just need a bit of help. My 98 Accord has had the brake lamp light go on. I have replaced all the brake lights and I can't get the light to go off. Any suggestions? TIAFTH.
You wrote: Fix the brakes. That's why the idiot light is on. Has nothing to do with the lights.
No. No, man. If the '98 is like my '97, it has two brake warning lights. The first is for brake hydraulic malfunctions and when the parking brake is on. The second, located on the little car diagram (the one that shows when a door is open etc), has a warning when a brake light bulb has burned out. I have no idea why changing out the failed bulb hasn't resolved the light (if in fact that's the one that is lit).
If it's the other warning light, then you are right.
my english is not that good, i hope you u can understand. my honda accord 89, have the brake lamp, light on, in the panel. when you start the car, it checks the doors, there, in car picture, by the trunk, theres this red letters that says break lamp. Someone knows what it means?
The brake light warning stays on when it rains. I have a leak in the lens, so when it gets really wet the lamp goes on. I guess there is a short. It goes out when it dries out.
A few years ago, the dealer said I had brake light wires corroded (sp). They fixed it.
Now my light is on because my left light is out. I bought the replacement bulb, but have found the old one corroded to the socket. I guess I need to buy the socket too.
My 1999 Accord EX (4 Cylinder with 58,000 miles) has developed a clicking type noise around the right front wheel. I changed brake pads recently and that eliminated the scraping noise. Does anyone have an idea and what it might cost to fix the problem? Thanks, Greg
This only happens when you are turning, right? If so, then the CV joint is shot due to the rubber boot being torn and all the grease leaking out. This is normal wear on a FWD car. Take it to a shop and have them replace the right half-shaft. You can usually get remanufactured ones installed for about $100-120. This is something that will need to be replaced regularly, so it isn't worth the 300+ to have OEM shafts installed.
58,000 miles is a little early for a CV boot to break, it took 14 years and 120k miles for the boots to show signs of cracking on my 88 Accord, but I guess anything is possible.
Other things to check is the hub cap if your car has them, or the center insert in the aluminum wheels. Either of those can make noise if they are loose.
My 89's CV also took 14+ yrs & 140K miles. The after market shaft from NTB has 67K miles on it now. Don't forget the alignment after replacing the shaft.
dngunyen65 said "I haven't used cruise control on my Accord 2000 for a while. This morning, I noticed that as soon as i set the cruise control, the green light is on for a few seconds and off right away. The car is slowing down after that. This means that cruise control never kicks in."
Damn, I'm having exactly the same problem with my Accord 03 cruise control. I haven't used the cruise control for a while and now when I turn the switch ON, it stays ON alright but when I press the SET button, the green light is on for a few seconds and off right away. The cruise never engages.
What could possibly be wrong with this car? I also noticed some engine hesitation when I try to accelerate (car kind of vibrate at it struggles to gain speed).
My left front boot is torn. I don't hear any noise yet. The shop I took my accord to, wants the whole LF half-shaft replaced. Will it be ok if I replace only the boot, since I don't get any noise? Or I should do what mechanic says?
One shop has lifetime parts, 6mo 6k labor warranty. Other has 12mo 12k parts and labor warranty. Which could be better?
CV axles have 2 boots each, one inner, and one outer. I'm assuming it's the outer boot that broke? To replace the outer boot, the inner boot needs to be removed and the shaft disassembled, cleaned, and BOTH boots replaced. At the price of labor, it may be cheaper to have a rebuilt shaft installed then to have it rebuilt.
If you were going to do it yourself, it doesn't cost much for the boots, I paid $32 for all 4 boots for the front of my 88 Accord. Its all labor.
I used to have a window creaking problem with my Toyota. What fixed it was to leave the rubber channel alone and keep it clean, and clean the edge of the window itself where it fits into the channel. I think I used plain Windex. I don't know if this will fix this particular problem though. It seems to me that adding silicones would eventually aggrivate the situation.
NTB National Tire and Battery. Used to be a part of an old name hardware store chain, Western Auto, I think. Bought partly by sears at the time. Then later totally owned by Sears. Several years ago Sears closed a lot of their stores that were near Sears stores. Some locations were bought by another tire company.
I have been experiencing something weird with my car. I will get out of my car and lock it and the windows will be up, but when I return they will be half way or all the way down. I keep the drivers side window locked but yet it still manages to be down.
You are probably accidently pressing and holding, the left Door Open button on your key. Holding the button in will first open the door locks and then open the windows to ventilate the car before you get in.
We have a 2003 Honda Accord. Within 3 months of purchasing this vehicle, a rock flew up into the AC system & put a hole in it. It cost us $500 to replace the system. Less than 1 year later the same thing happened again. We questioned our local Honda Service Department and they said that this was a known flaw in the design. Now we are out over $1000 with no guarantees that this won't happen again. Has anyone else had this problem?
American Honda. Be polite, explain your situation, and keep your emotions out of it. Ask them what they can do to keep you a satisfied and loyal Honda owner. Couldn't hurt.
plse help...2nd summer my 99 accord will not start on a HOT summer day...i was advised that it was my immobluizer switch and i had it replaced in the fall..september...well this year its back again, so i really had no idea if that it was was bad, since its cooler here in september...the weather wasnt hot...took car to shop, for last 3 days they have had it...everyday, several times a day they went out and checked and car started right up..so they dont have any idea, since they cant duplicate the problem...........is it just maybe the driver..........who knows but its beginning to be a problem that i cant drive my car if the weather is above 80 or humid
Hi, I currently own a 2004 honda accord EX/V6 coupe without navigation, but I recently bout the complete navigation unit with the DVD-Rom drive. I was wounder if anyone has installed a factory Navigation unit before and if so what harness will I need?
User777, Thanks for the reply...I have noticed that there is not much risk but by yesterday all my carpet at the passenger's seat was wet I am doing a lot of left turns, I believe . I have approached jiffy lube and then pepboys...jiffy lube said they don't do drain tubes...I even explained the situation as it is to pepboys and asked them to just blow compressed air through the drain tube..I donot know if they understood or not but they gave me an estimate of $78...I was like what?? I believe that is a per hour labor rate for pep boys..And then I went to Merchants tires..they donot have a mechanic or technician handy at that time....Anyways I went to the Honda showroom and he immediately understood the problem and gave me a $56 quote for this. I am gonna go for it...I was a little fed up with the other services...I think, I need to catch hold of some private mechanic...instead of these branded guys...
But your post has really helped me understand the real problem...Me and my friends were thinking that it is a AC problem and started it could be a big problem..but as you said it is not...
A while ago there were a few posts about the same problem with rocks & AC piping - one person recommended installing specially made grilles that would fit into the open area of the bumper where the AC piping is exposed to rocks, etc.
I don't want to seem like an advertiser so I'll just say that if you type in "car grilles" in Google, a bunch of links will come up. These should help you with your problem.
I just started having the same problem on my 99 accord (90 miles) and believe me I'm in the same boat as you. I live in a Houston so right now it is really hot and really humid. The solution has been to change out my fuel pump relay which down here costs between 60 to 70 dollars from the dealership and is easy to replace. It is located under the dash on the driver's side. If you purchase the part you should have no problem changing it your self or getting someone to do it for you.
Did you get the entire in-dash navigation unit, including the 6-CD Changer? Is it the exact dimensions of your non-navigation radio unit? If not, you may have a bit of customization to do. Did you get the satellite antenna that's mounted in the rear parcel shelf? Did you get the ceiling console-mounted microphone for voice activated guidance? Did you get a steering wheel with the two buttons needed for the voice activated guidance? The navigation unit can't work without those items.
I believe that you may be the first one in this forum who's actually bought such components. So, you may not get much installation help here.
I hope that you are aware of the fact that the navigation system also integrates with the audio and climate control systems, providing voice command control over them too. You may have to buy a bunch more components before this all works out.
Best of luck. It's a great system, but probably best purchased factory-installed.
I had the same issues with steering with my accord 03 when I got it and it came down to this.. the tires that come with the vehicle are absolute crap. I got new tires Faulken Ziex and my handling in every weather condition went from crappy to superior. It feels like I have a sports car now.
Yes I have all the component to install the unit. The navigation unit itself comes comes complete with the 6 dis IN-Dash/ Navi/ AM FM/ Dual Zone Auto Climate control. I have also purchase the steering wheel control used for the voice navigation. The only problem I think I may come across is the fact that I may have to replace the entire dash wiring harness. The 2004/EX V6 without navigation has a different harness. I'm hoping there are sub harness attachments that can be add instead.
Chuck03, check the drain line under the dash on the passenger side that connects to the blower/condensor (air looking box next to blower) My CRX did the same thing to me.
If someone can help me, I have a 90 Accord EX ehich for the last 3 years it has been giving me problems starting. I was overseas so my wife jsut let the car sit in front of the house. I have already replaced the main fuel relay. Here is my problem, the car won't start (as if has a low battery) I push the car just enough to get it rolling and pop the cluck (not fast enough so get it running) tunr the key and the car starts like a champ. What is going on with it, it is enoying since sometimes I can't tactically park the car on a hill where no one parks in front of me so I can let it roll. Battery is good, I had the alternator tested with battery also and it was good. I will appreciate some helpo since I don't want to get rid of it.

1. The brake fluid level is low in the reservoir.
2. Your parking brake is on.

2014 Malibu 2LT, 2015 Cruze 2LT,
With over 100K miles, it's better to replace the shaft than replace the boot.

I replaced all the brake lights and the light went out. That said, removing the carpet without damage was a challenge.
Does anyone here know if there is a place here or else where, where I can vent about the problems I have been having with this car?
