Oh well! Now I have Sylvania Silver Stars.
Cheers,

I have a 98 Accord V6. I replaced my original tires at about 55,000 with the Bridgestone Turanza LS-H through Tire Rack. The salesman recommended the H over the V unless you are a very aggressive driver. The V tires have a stiffer sidewall for better cornering, but the ride is also more stiff.
The LS-H's are a little stiffer ride than the Michelins but the Bridgestones handle better in both wet and dry. In snow, they seem comparable to the Michelins. I've put 30,000 on the Bridgestones and would buy them again. Great tire.
I replaced them at 40k with Michelin Pilot XGT4 tires - VAST improvement in quietness, ride quality, and durability with no noticeable loss in handling security. FYI, I drive ~100 miles roundtrip to work everyday (85% hwy, 15% local), mostly at speeds that would shock the average police officer's conscience enough to make him drop his donuts, spill his coffee, and give chase. They're way better than the Michelin MXV4s on my new Honda (incidentally, I was also never thrilled with the MXV3s on my first Honda - a 91 EX Sedan).
OK boys - shred me now.

(1) a jiggling type of sound coming from the vicinity of the passenger C-pillar or just behind the rear passenger headrest. Very annoying - seems to be more prevalent on rough pavement or when on a curving road with an uphill incline.
Dealer has tightened the airbag canister (my best guess is that it is the gas canister hitting the shield - I had a similar problem on the driver's side that was fixed with adhesive foam padding inserted between the canister and the shield). Problem persisted and Honda Techline instructed dealer to grind the metal flange on the top of the passenger side rear shock absorber.
Problem is better since dealer did these two things, but not eliminated. Very very annoying to put up with for 100 miles roundtrip to work every day.
(2) Rattle No. 2 is "ticking" sound from just in front of the wheel and the gauge cluster. Its the same kind of tick a set of keys would make if you separated them into two side on a keyring and then let them hit together. However, it does it even with only the ignition key and no other keys on the ring in the ignition.
Thoughts?!
Thanks!
The second rattle --> I believe I have the same as yours--see my post # 9734. Here's the main text of that post that pertains to that particular rattle:
"I have had a steering column rattle in my '04 V6 sedan since about 2K miles only -- dealer finally traced it to faulty spring in horn plate assembly, and after twisting their arm, they replaced the assembly, which initially worked, only to have the rattle return one month later. Anybody else have this, especially any solutions out there?"
Good luck -- and be sure and let all of us know if you have any progress / luck!!!
Thank you.
Nina"
Get it checked immediately. Drive slowly... so if the tire blows, you can keep control. The fact you hear the whomp sound at speed concerns me.
2014 Malibu 2LT, 2015 Cruze 2LT,
Shows how to repair your transmission control module if you suffer from a common failure relating to a blown capacitor on the board. Of course you could send yours out to be repaired or try to salvage something from a yard....but where's the fun in that

Highlander -
Hesitation problem
Gas milage 18/25
Seats are more comfortable
Accord -
better gas milage 21/30
cost is a little cheaper
nice ride/nice accerlation
the exterior is boring/love the interior
I am really torn, any input would be greatly appreciated.
What is it about the SUV that attracts you? The rollovers and poor overall safety record? The stepladder to get in an out? The poor handling and gas mileage? The increasing rate of depreciation? The jokes people make about SUV drivers?
The Highlander is a short Station Wagon called by another name. The Accord has been named to Car & Driver's 10 Best as the best family sedan almost every year than they started.
Although not as complete as a "flush" if you do this every 20K miles if will be just as effective and it only costs about $5 each time. This is about the easiest DIY maintenance there is and only takes a few minutes with no mess.
But here's what you really have to ask yourself: Is there anything about your situation that dictates a need for an SUV, i.e. the capabilities of an SUV to do something that you CAN'T do with a car, or whatever other vehicle you might have? If for some reason you need an SUV (one guy who has both tows boats with his Highlander, for example), go that route. But if a car will get the job done, you already seem to prefer the Accord anyway, and it strikes me as the better way to go. Oh, and if the exterior is boring, and you don't need 4 doors, there IS the Accord coupe.
I also have an annoying noise coming from the height adjustable seatbelt latch on the B-pillar. Extremely annoying. I'm pretty suprised at these quality issues considering everyone I know praising the Honda. It's not different after all.
I totally understand what you mean. I bought a '05 Accord EX-V6. It's a great car but has annoying quality problems [2K miles and noticed wind noise from both front doors and rattling noises from seatbelt buckles on B-pillars]. This is my first Japanese car. I come from the VW world and I also saw a huge quality drop from a German made VW and one made in Brasil or Mexico.
We had a '01 Maxima made in Japan and the car was perfect until it died with 210K miles. No complaints there.
Honda should be looking at forums like this where real people list the real problems with their cars. That's how quality will improve not only by calling customers to see how their service went at the dealer. You can't even be honest with them since the dealer will see your name as one that gave them bad results. Then who knows what happens to your car the next time it goes in for service. That's my two cents on this.
I have driven (not owned) two different hondas, and both had the same problem with the cruise control. There must have been a problem with Honda's speed control algorithm because the car would accelerate past the set speed, then slow down, then accelerate, then slow down, rather than simply using just enough power to maintain the desired speed, like most cruise controls are able to do.
As I said, this happened in two Hondas, one was a CR-V, pre-1996 (not sure what year exactly), and the other was a Civic around '96 or '97.
I'm hoping this problem has been fixed, so I was wondering what year the fix occured so that if I decide to buy a used car I know what years to avoid. If the problem still isn't fixed, it is bad enough that I would probably just buy a Camry or something.
I think the fix occurred in generation 6, year 1999. And Honda introduced generation 7 in 2003, which further improved the cruise control.

P.S. - You were just trolling weren't you and just don't like Hondas correct ?
P.S.S. - I bet your problem won't have occurred at all if you had manual transmission vehicles.
Contact your local TV station that does the stories about businesses that cheat customers (as if media outlets are honest in all they do!).
2014 Malibu 2LT, 2015 Cruze 2LT,
The damn car still rattles in the back. At this point, I'm going to insist that Honda send an engineer out to look at the car. This problem has to be solved.
However, he DID apparently fix the dashboard rattle by removing the instrument cluster and siliconing around the edges to create a soft interface where the hard plastic case of the cluster touches the hard plastic edge of the dash divet it sits in.
Somebody please shoot me now....
So I called American Honda and got the same story. I mentioned this is a problem that has been noted on hundreds of autos (per this site) and that it was suggested by forum members that I contact them directly. She told me the bulletins are there for assistance is diagnosing problems only. If there are a great deal of complaints about the same thing, a recall will be issued. What a warm fuzzy this is giving me!
It's not right the Honda and insurance companies need to step up to the plate here. That would quietly correct a flaw which is in a few cars. A friend hit the brakes hard at 30 mph to miss a dog and the passenger side airbag went off in a Pontiac Sunbird.
2014 Malibu 2LT, 2015 Cruze 2LT,
They are very quiet and smooth considering they are very high milage tire. I am very happy with them.
I searched the archives and a post by snakehair back in Dec 03 had the same problem but I cannot navigate to any responses, probably due to my inexperince with this site. He ask if anyone had added washers to elevate the seat or other fix.
Thanks for any help. RCH
I had the lights go out in my radio/climate control display ('03 EX) a year ago. Fortunately for me, it was under warranty. In my case, the radio itself (not the display) was faulty and replaced. I doubt the display unit is serviceable.
I would recommend checking Ebay to see if someone is selling their entire unit. I saw a couple units a few months ago go for about $200.
