Thanks for your help.
Also, Chrysler does have a special college graduate program. You'll have to ask the dealer about it, but I believe that they are offering $400 to recent grads.
Mr. Shiftright
Thanks in advance.
RATE AVAILABLE IN FEBRUARY OR IF RATE WILL DROP BELOW THIS WITHIN THE NEXT WEEK.
THANKS IN ADVANCE
The typical Honda Dealer invoice is 89% to 91% of the MSRP.
ie: A 1998 Acura Integra GSR MSRP $27,300
Dealer Invoice $25,116
Does anyone know how much incentives to the dealers are?
are coming down approximately 2000 dollars in
the philadelphia region. I have not seen any
new invoice prices on the Net. Does anybody
know anything about this?
Is it likely that these rebates will be extended beyond 04/06/98?
I purchased a car that had a $1,000 rebate. Since the dealer didn't have the one that I wanted they
had to order it. Now the rebate is off and the car still isn't here and the dealer stated that I could no longer receive the rebate. Why should the dealer problem cost me $1,000? Is this dealer correct?
Seeing the above post, I asked a Ford dealer the same question. They state that I would NOT be entitled to the rebate if the vehicle arrives after the rebate expiration date of 4/2/98. If true, no factory ordered car bought at this time would ever arrive before the cutoff date. Is this just a ploy to make customers buy off the dealer's lot?
Would appreciate some feedback on this issue!!
It isn't the dealer who controls the rules of the factory rebate, or the shipping dates, so he/she is just running off the same schedules as you. I agree it is annoying to be caught up in these deadlines, but I think the complaint should be directed at the manufacturer in this case.
I've been looking at a 1998 Subaru Legacy L through a dealer I located though Auto-By-Tel (in Bellingham, Washington).
It has been a great experience, but he claims there is only a $500 rebate and no dealer incentive on this car.
Edmunds says there is a $750 rebate and a $1,500 dealer incentive until 3/31/98. The dealer says "boy do I wish that were true!"
Is there any way to find out if he's being straight with me?
As many are aware, there are lots of 2 to 3 year old cars coming off leases which are being sold as "certified vehicles" by the dealers. These "certified vehicles" come with new car warranties. In the case of Honda, this is 3 years/36k miles.
My question: Is it possible (ethical and/or legal) to ask a dealer to take the car back, have it certified, and then purchase it back at the buy out price plus a reasonable agreed upon profit to the dealer in order to get an additional 3 years/36k miles of warranty? It sounds a bit crazy, but in car buying it seems anything goes for the dealer. How about the consumer?
Also...Those looking for FANTASTIC consumer information on new car purchases should check out James Bragg's organization, "Fighting Chance." He provides great information and is even available to discuss specific questions by telephone. Check it out at www.fightingchance.com.
A toyota dealer offered to sell me a 5 door sienna
minivan for 24,500. Is that a good deal?
Only thing is, while the Probe is here in town, the Mustang is 300 miles north. I know of the carry over, holdback, and rebates on these vehicles, but anyone ever buy a dealer swap? Not sure how this would work or how motivated a dealer would be to bring the Mustang down. Any advice?
What's a one-way ticket cost to the city 300 miles to the north? I'm considering a similar situation and found that the cost of the airline ticket is less than $100. I suspect the dealer up north might be willing to give you another $100 off the vehicle to get your business. You might also look at the cost to rent a car for the one way trip. One thing to remember is that this is a vehicle that you are likely going to be driving for several years. If you want the Mustang more than the Probe, I'd say it would be worth the extra $100 or so to find a way up north to pick it up. You might even be able to talk a friend into a road trip, so all you would have to pay is the cost of gas and one night at a motel.
I found the Subaru rebate/incentive information on the Intellichoice site. Doesn't quite match with Edmunds...

For your information in addition to the $4,000 dealer cash on 1997 models and the $2,000 dealer cash on 1998 models, currently Lincoln is offering a very attractive 1.75% lease rate for up to 24 months.
I plan on purchasing a 98 Isuzu Rodeo....any guess on whether it is better to purchase one before the new quarter (Apr. 1) or to wait and see if an incentive comes out.
Thanks,
