I'm eligible for $500 VW Owner Loyalty rebate, plus $2500 dealer cash on the '04 VR6 GTI that a local dealer has left. So isn't $3k under invoice a realistic price on this leftover car, or can I do even better?
I have 4 lease payments left on my current VW. Will a dealer ever eat those payments, or meet me halfway?
Thanks.

My question about incentives---the dealer tells me that incentives in effect at the time the car arrives at the dealership would be honored, BUT, he could not tell me what those incentives would be. Apparently the current incentive program would not apply to a factory ordered car. So how in the world could we arrive at a purchase price?
Also, are incentives applied against MSRP ONLY? Or can they be deducted from the "negotiated" price, i.e., factory invoice +/-, etc. I see all of these manufacturers offering incentives, but I do not quite understand how/where/when they are applied. Can you shed some light on this?
I am vacillating between purchasing this car (the XC70) or a fully loaded Chrysler Pacifica. It seems that there are not all that many Pacifica Limited's either, but they are not nearly as scarce as a loaded XC70. My local dealer tells me he can get one to me from a not too distant dealer, and thus far, has not mentioned any transportation cost.
As it is, I am dealing with a Volvo dealership outside of my area as the local dealer had a finance person that was not someone with whom I wanted to transact business. (Read, unpleasant experience.) Right now, I am about at my wit's end; I just want to purchase a reliable, safe car, and I am getting so fatigued with the shopping part of the process I am close to calling it quits!
Please shed some light for me? Thanks.

I asked a bank if there was any waiting period to refinance a vehicle and he said there was not. Does anyone know if Mazda FORCES you to wait a certain period of time? Someone said 3-months, but it wasn't clear if that was by the rules of his purchase, or if it was from a bank or something else.
Thanks.

I do not have a copy of the Northeast rebates that expired 1/03/05. Do I have a case here or am I off base?
Thanks!
You had agreed to take their 5.9% financing along with a $1000 rebate. Go thru with that deal and be happy.
What I did, and what you could have done, is to take the GMAC financing to obtain the incentive and then pay the loan from GMAC off in 3 weeks to a month. This is what I'm doing and the dealership is even going to take car of the paperwork and is obtaining a better rate than I can get from my local bank or credit union.
The GMAC rates are high, however, there is no prepayment penalty on the GMAC loan.

What was in my package? automatic, special trip odometer, am/fm/cd, cruise control, AC, power locks, windows, and doors. Remote keyless entry (but no alarm (I think). Tachometer. Side mirrors are electric. Oh, and 2 12v access things. Guess they don't include cigarette lighters or ashtrays anymore??? I thought a pretty good deal considering. Of course, I bought a Saturn last time, so I guess this is a step up for me!
Good luck.
Went in October to Heritage Ford in Modesto. Wanted a 2003 Ford Taurus SE. Nice car, wanted Thirteen something for it. Dad talked them down to 11,500. He was cosigner and they placed him as primary on the financing and came back with a 3.9% for 60 months. Not bad. Took SPOT DELIVERY!!! Bad choice because in California they have that "rescind" clause deal. Anyway, next day we are told we have to redo contract that the bank wouldn't accept it with Dad as primary so they had to switch us around. I knew it was going to be bad, but it was 14.9% bad and the car had to go back. We probably should've have demanded proof of rejection, because we NEVER received a denial in the mail or in person. I think it's Fraud to lie abut financing. Anyway, because we had talked them down 2 grand, I guess they figured out they could make up the difference on the car by getting a kickback on the difference from a regular bank. Scums.
So, I was devestated and disguisted that I couldn't even have a co-signer with a decent rate even if they have perfect credit.
Enter Nissan of Tracy!!! We had negotiated ahead of time and there was absolutely NO pressure. Not to mention it was submitted to "CUDL" and we got a 4.29% with dad as primary. They say that CU will report to CRA's. Anyone out there that can confirm this???? I had purchased a 1998 Saturn SL2 when they had the "no haggle" slogan. There was more pressure at Saturn than at Nissan.
I was up front on our objectives in that it was for rebuilding credit and that mine was in the dirt, that we wanted the most for the least amount of money, and they never..not one time..applied pressure except to sell a extended warranty, which we didn't take. But hey, can't blame the FM, lol. Honestly, just being treated fairly was so appreciated that I would highly recommend the dealer. They received one of those Customer Service Excellence Awards from Nissan, and I can see why now. If I buy a Nissan again, I'd return there.
Also, inquired as to my score, because now they have t disclose it. In October, 2004 I was only 520, but last night I was 560. How fast can I expect to see my score creep up with on time payments? Any guesses??? I'm dying to know. I want a house next hear and have to make 620 because, as we all know here, it's a numbers game, lol
Can't wait to hear what everyone says!!!
I've been looking at purchasing an FX35, and some local dealerships still have some 2004 models left. In doing research on Edmunds.com, I came across a manufacturer to customer rebate of $2000 on 2004 FX's, effective through the end of January. Great, I thought...but after checking the Infiniti.com site and querying a local salesperson, there seems to be no evidence that such a rebate exists. Other auto information sites don't show this rebate either. They only show what Infiniti.com shows as incentives (currently only a low APR deal.) Well, this has raised some questions:
- Edmunds.com states that "Cash Rebates are provided by the manufacturer directly to the customer at the point of sale to adjust downward the net price of the vehicle. Consumers usually elect to credit the cash rebates as a down payment against the new vehicle's purchase price." All well and good, but how do I know that I will get such a rebate if the dealership and manufacturer don't acknowledge it? For rebates for other products, the reimbursement usually comes after proof of purchase. Is this the same for cars?
- Since the only source of this particular rebate appears to be Edmunds.com, could Edmunds be wrong in this case? It seems strange that there's only a single source of this information. Is Edmunds that privvy to such rebate information that even the manufacturer isn't aware of it?
Thanks in advance for any information.
First of all you are the man. Second, here's a deal a so. cal dealer offered us. I'm trying to figure out what the market is on the non-convertible, tiny engine (150hp) PT Cruiser and if 0% financing is available. We have 720+ FICO. Here's the offer:
Selling Price $15,828
MSRP $15,820
Invoice $15,462
Rebate $1000
APR 3.9%
Amount Financed $16,268
60 months $299.35 nothing out of pocket
I would think this car would sell for 2-3k under invoice especially with the $1000 rebate. Thanks Car Man.

Considering 2001 Lexus GS300 with 60 mo. financing. Do you have any idea what Tier 2 and Tier 3 interest rates are at this time? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the info. The best offer I have yet to get is below:
$275 below invoice
5.99% APR
60 Months
$296.17 a month
nothing out of pocket.
The dealer said $1000 of the incentive money is not available if you take the 3.9% APR. Is this true? His exact words "The 3.9% APR is a combo cash offer. You lose 1,000.00 in rebates when you take that rate for 60 mos." Is it either/or?
Thanks.

I'd try really hard to come up with that $50/month more to get the 4 year loan.. The total difference in interest, based on $20K financed, is over $2000!!

Carman,
Looking at a 2004 F 150 Lariat Supercrew in MN. (Please No cold Jokes Here). Anyway, The 2004 incentives page is no longer accessable from the edmunds website and I was wondering what kind of dealer and customer cash is available. They really want to move this car as it has been on the lot since Aug. I I obviously would like to get the best price possible. Presently I am at a price before taxes of 31500 on a 40500 sticker car.
Thanks in advance
Any help would be appreciated

The deal structure I faxed is giving you the full available rebates of $2,000 for a net sale price of $13,462 + tax & license at Standard Buy Rate Financing of 4.99% to 60 months. There are other available deal structure's with less rebates and special APR's called the Combo APR + Cash programs that include special Rate Financing of 0% to 48 months, and 3.9% to 60 months with a $1,000 Rebate and $500 Auto Show Cash.
But I should still be ablet to get the 0% or 3.9% with the $2,000 cash back, right?

Thanks for all the help. I guess $50 under invoice less the $1500 cash isn't so bad, right? I appreciate your help a lot.
This way you qualify for whatever rebates and you get open market interest rates similar to what the manufactures think are promotional rates.

NO DEALER can match this: $1000 BELOW Invoice!
--------------------------------------------------
It's been a very slow month to start, and the owner asked us what it would take to get things rolling. We tossed a number at her, and she said: "go for it." Between now and January 30th, we can sell ANY truck or SUV (in-stock or order) for $1000 BELOW INVOICE!! Yes, one-thousand dollars under invoice, plus you get the rebate and we'll STILL guarantee the rebate on an order! This also applies to "The Plans" ($1000 below A/X/Z-Plan prices)
So, who wants to tell us NOW they can't afford to drive to Rochester (New York) to buy a truck?
Because of allocation, some trucks (Super-Dutys) may take longer to get, but if you were planning on getting a new Ford sometime in the spring or summer, then this is the time to get it ordered.

Are there any other incentives running (Chicago, IL region)? Has GM issued new Instant Value Certificates that dealers can use for this month?
Thanks for your help!
my local Mazda dealer has 3 2004 Mazdaspeed Miatas sitting in his lot under 18 inches of snow and I'm tempted to give one a new home. Could you tell me the current customer and dealer incentives for this vehicle in the Connecticut area? Thanks very much!
