couple of questtions about incentives on Isuzu Troopers. 1) when will the newest incentives be posted/updated? last I looked the end date was 3/1/99. 2) is the financing a manufactures incentive? is the dealer incentive a manufactures incentive? if so, why would a dealer tell me that they could give me one or the other? The dealer has built the dealer incentive of $1500 into the cost but won't allow for the special financing that is posted on Edmunds. what gives? 3) if you order a car during the incentive period can you make the deal contingent on the dealer actually delivering the car w/in the rebate period? if they dont' then you can walk away from the contract w/o loss? 4) can you order a car w/o giving the dealer ANY money up front? why should they have the use of your $500 or whatever for 60-90 days waiting for a car? especially if question/issue 3 bombs out and they can't deliver during the rebate period. Thanks.
In answer to your questions about Isuzu Trooper incentives, I have not seen the new information yet. However, Edmund's should have the new Isuzu incentives available on this Web Site sometime this week. Both the special financing and dealer cash that are available on Isuzus are provided by the manufacturer. Most manufacturers, including Isuzu, do not allow customers to combine special financing and dealer cash incentives. Customers must choose one or the other, because it is simply too expensive for the manufacturer to support both programs. It usually takes a while for vehicles that consumers special order to be delivered. I suppose that you can make a deal with a specific dealership that says that you will only purchase the vehicle that you ordered if it is delivered by a particular date, but I doubt that you will find many dealerships that are willing to make that sort of provision. I wouldn't worry about a particular incentive disappearing in Isuzu's case. The majority of their vehicles almost always have some sort of special incentives available on them. It is very unlikely that their support would end all of a sudden. Again there is no rule that requires the dealership to take a certain amount of money from you as a deposit if you order a vehicle, but I bet that you may have a hard time finding one that will special order a vehicle for you without some sort of deposit.
I was wondering about the college and 1st time buyer rebates that companies offer. I know that Ford has a $400 college rebate and they explain what the requirements are for meeting it, but they don't explain what information you need to bring to the dealer with you. Does anyone know?
Also, does anyone know if Ford offers a 1st time buyer rebate?
This weekend I was at a Nissan dealer looking at a Maxima. He had his information book open and I noticed that Nissan offering a $2000 customer rebate on the Maxima (which I already knew from this website). However, I also noticed on the next page in the rep's binder that Nissan is offering $2000 in dealer cash for the Maximas. Can you confirm whether this is true and what the details of this offer are?
There was some fine print at the bottom of the page which I could not read because it was upside down to me.
It shouldn't be very tough to prove that you are going to be or are a recent college graduate. I bet that a copy of your transcript or your diploma would be more than adequate to prove that you qualify for the program. In the past several manufacturers have offered first time buyer's incentives. However, I believe that most of these programs have been dropped in favor of college graduate programs. I don't think that Ford presently has a first time buyer's program, but I suppose that it wouldn't hurt to ask someone at a dealership just to make sure. They don't have to foot the bill for the discount so it would be in their best interest to disclose the program if there is one.
Nissan currently has $2,000 Consumer Cash and $250 Dealer Cash on the 1999 Maxima. They do not have $2,000 consumer and $2,000 dealer cash, that would add up to $4,000 off which is hard to imagine. They do have $2,000 Lease Cash on 1999 Maximas that is available in lieu of the Consumer Cash. Perhaps this is what you saw.
I called Toyota's 800 number and they told me that there was a "cash rebate" in effect in Vermont. But she wouldn't tell me how much or on what models. Does anyone know the details?
Yes, Car_man, I read the Edmunds listings. However, Dealer Cash is not = Consumer Cash. Dealer Cash is secret and I'm-not-supposed-to-know-about-it money. Also, the knowledge of dealer cash is only useful when negotiating a price on a car. I have already negotiated a price of "$200 over factory invoice" for an ordered Tacoma. I want to know if there is consumer cash from Toyota on these trucks, so that when I take delivery of my Tacoma in a couple weeks, I'll get a check from Toyota, hopefully. When the Toyota Customer Service person mentioned "Cash back" on the phone, I doubt she was referring to Dealer Cash. Or was she?
CarMan - as you requested of me in #2, I am bugging you again to see if you know of any rebates/incentives on 99 Intrepids, either current ones or anything coming up in the next 2 months. Thanks and hope to hear from you soon - Julie
Youngs1, the BMW Dealer Cash that you mentioned was continued for another month. If you would like to see it in writing, we should have the new BMW information available any day now.
Bryan99, even though the Tacoma cash is listed as dealer cash I don't think that it is as hush hush in this instance as many other dealer cash programs are. Toyota almost always has dealer cash on the Tacoma. In fact I believe that dealerships are given this money with the option to use it as consumer or dealer cash in this instance, but it is difficult to indicate that in the incentives section.
Hi Julie. I remember saying that to you. Well, funny that you mention Chrysler incentives. I was just looking at some revisions to their current program this afternoon. Off of the top of my head, I believe that there is presently $500 dealer cash on 1999 Dodge Intrepids with 2.7L engines. I will look to see if I can find anything else on this car and let you know tomorrow in this topic. Talk to you then.
OK, Car-man -- thank you. You are a great help, as always. :-) I'll bring up the dealer cash then when I go to pick up the new truck -- whenever it gets here!
I looked into the current Dodge Intrepid incentives for you. There is $500 dealer cash on 1999 models with 2.7L engines, like I mentioned. They also have lease support on 1999 models. Chrysler currently has an advertised lease of $269/month for 36 months with $1,399 down and 12,000 miles per year on this car. There is also $1,500 dealer cash on 1998 models if you can still find one. All of these programs are good through April 6th.
I have bought a Civic and three 4-cyl Accords in the last 4 years. I usually pay invoice + transportation + 1% or 2% profit + sales tax + $45 for tag/title. When I offer less (as I have done several times), it is refused.
Quanta, Honda does not have any cash incentives on either the Civic or the Accord right now. They do however, have advertised lease specials on the Accord.
Kmcdonald, the new Isuzu incentives will probably be posted up on this site sometime tomorrow. Please check back then to see what the latest Rodeo incentives are. I believe that I heard that there is currently $1,000 to $2,000 on 1999 Rodeos.
Kmcdonald, in this instance the Isuzu incentives vary by model not by the dealership's sales volume. I will look and see if I can find out exactly what the incentive for the 1999 Isuzu Rodeo 4WD LS is. Please check with me tomorrow.
I was wondering if Edmund's would consider showing 60 mo. term financing information on the Rebates page. A lot of manufacturers are starting to offer special loan rates for 60 mos., but at a little higher than the TV advertised rates for 36 mos. and 48 mos. Might this be possible? I know that I would most likely finance over 60 mos. when I finally get around to buying a vehicle and it would be extremely helpful if I knew what the special rate was.
Showing 60 month special finance rates is not a bad idea. Many manufacturers offer low interest loans over five years. I will mention your suggestion to management. In the mean time if you have any specific vehicles that you would like 60 month financing information on I would be glad to help you out. Thanks for the suggestion.
According to the information that I've seen, Chrysler is not currently sponsoring any special financing for the 1999 Dodge Intrepid. Therefore Chrysler Financial's standard interest rate would apply for a 60 month loan on this vehicle. In this instance you are probably better off financing this car through some other sort of lending institution like a credit union or your local bank.
Car Man, any updated info. on dealer incentives/rebates on subaru outback wagons? i haven't found any on the edmond's web site. but, dealer is offering the car for $200 over invoice without any haggling, what's going on here?
Steve44, according to the information that I read there is currently $500 on 1999 Subaru Impreza and $500 - $750 on 1999 Subaru Legacy models. These incentives may vary depending upon what region of the country you are in and are good through April 30th.
Ken, Mazda is offering special financing on its vehicles right now. I believe that there is presently .9% to 3.9% available on the 1999 Miata in your area of the country. So, the 3.9% for 60 months that you mentioned does exist and is legitimate.
Has anyone been able to get a Honda dealer to forego dealer holdback on the new Odyssey? It seems to me that since the purpose of the holdback is to compensate the dealer for costs of keeping a car on his lot, and the Odyssey is flying into buyers hand right off the truck, that the dealers should share this manufacturer-provided windfall with the buyer.
FYI, two separate Isuzu dealers told me, unsolicited, that the dealer incentive onthe '99 Trooper, S was $1700 not the $1500 listed in the Edmunds section. ONe dealer was in the kansas City area, the other was in Springfield, MO. Lee
While Car_man and my Isuzu dealer had the Rodeo LS at only $1400 dealer incentive, all the dealers in my area (Boston, MA) we're willing to give me the full $2000 that Isuzu was only offering on the high end models.
Actually a couple of the dealers were offering me even more than that. Significantly more, ( I ended up buying one for $3473 under invoice,) but I don't know how much of that the dealer will get back from Isuzu.
Is the loyality rebate from Ford still on? I read several weeks ago about a Ford rebate on Ford trucks $1,500.00 if you owned a Ford truck from 1986.
Can anyone help with the question? local Ford dealer said that is only applied to lease. I do not think he is correct. And I can not find article again on internet.
$1000 Chrysler Rebates on 2000 Neons are to end March 31, 1999. Is there any news what they may due after that. Likewise Mazda Protege rebate on 99s expires than also. What will Mazda likely do for an encore. Thanks
Jvc_20037, actually the opposite of what you said is true. Dealerships will almost never dip into their holdback to sell a popular vehicle, because they know that even if you are not willing to pay it someone else will come along very soon who will. Dealerships hate to talk about their holdback in general. I have found that most won't dip into it to make a deal. However, it is a good thing to know about when trying to approximate the dealer cost of a particular car or truck.
Lee25, I am not sure what section of the Edmund's Web Site that you are referring to. Our current incentives section states that there is $1,200 to $1,700 Dealer Cash on the 1999 Isuzu Trooper that varies by model. This seems to correspond with the information that you found out on your own. If you can explain what you were writing about a little further I'd be glad to look into it for you.
Cmac, the last time that Mazda's incentives expired they continued them with only slight enhancements on certain models. I suspect that they will act similarly when their present program expires. Of course, it is difficult to predict exactly what manufacturers will do with their incentives. Still, I expect them to continue their existing program with perhaps some small enhancements on certain vehicles.
I was actually surprised that Chrysler would introduce an incentive on the new Neon so quickly when I first saw it. Usually manufacturers try to see if they can sell a number of their redesigned vehicles without any support for at least a couple of months. I don't see why they would discontinue this program, but you never know.
mikemacioci, I haven't heard any specific rumors about the Mercury Villager's incentive program. It is difficult to preduct with any certainty what manufacturers will do with their incentives in the future. In most cases their own dealerships don't even know in advance. Sorry that I can't shed any more light on the situation for you.
Also, I was wondering when updated info about Ford rebates/incentives will be up. It says the rebates are valid until 4/1. I'm interested in the Ford Ranger ($$$ or financing over 60 mos.)

I will definately check the page again tommorrow.
Do you have any idea how the range breaks down
Is it dependent on volume at the dealer ship?
or which model and options are purchased?
I'm looking at ordering a pretty loaded 4WD LS.

Anyone has that kind of experience?
If the price I am getting is less than 1000 over the invoice, will I get a price that's lower than the Invoice????? Is it possible?
Or is it that the manufacture give this kind of discount instead of dealer?
Do I have to buy both from the same dealer, or could be different?
Any response will be welcome.
thanks
Yamato.
