There doing around the mid $20ish, Low $21ish figure at the block .. US Bank will negotiate, I have dealt with them on many occasions .. just make sure your speaking with a Reg/Dist Mgr, the rest don't have any horsepower for a decision -- perhaps they will do $22/$23 ..
I hope this helps ....
Terry.
I can just see them now -- "Hey, what the heck is that" ... making calls, pages spinning in their black books, is that a LS or an LT, Hey Mr, does it have leather ..? .l.o.l...
I don't feel you will see $27, but you better be seeing $26 - the miles are right, the color is right, it's a 4x4, it's an LT ~ that's a real deal vehicle .. also there is dealers that are discounting the Honda's, you should see $500/$700 off sticker .. some of the guys here already can connect you to some dealers ..
Hey, good luck - your gonna miss that Tahoe ..
Terry :-)
so terry ... how much do the 94s go for at the auctions? i'm thinking of a nice one with all the goodies with ~100k.
color is silver
mileage is 92,000
no HID or heated seats
car is in "good" condition
thanks in advance for any real world feedback
What do you mean by "good"? Being more descriptive allows for a more accurate estimate from Terry.
If it's all there, then it will do the Tall $7's, low $8's .. probably you can find one for under $10,900 on the retail side ..
Terry.
That high mileage Caravan is a car that nobody wants. The Chrysler dealers won't bid on it and the wholesalers will turn away.
Last month, we ended up taking six domestic mini-vans to the auction. As smart as we think we are, we lost over a thousand dollars on every one of them.
Take the advise you've been given and sell it yourself. Your Honda dealer simply doesn't want it and neither does anybody else.
Hope that didn't sound too snooty...just reality.
If it lasts for 2-3 years without a new tranny or equivalent I think we will get our money's worth.
lexus gs 300 is in good condition. There is one repaired rock chip in windshield that left a small pit about the size of a very small pea. Two small "notches" in lower back bumper where previous owner must have backed into another vehicle's license plate. (I received estimate of $225 to fix)
Besides that, the car is in great condition. Paint is perfect and glossy. Car runs smooth. I've been averaging 22 mpg.
Nav is updated as of 9/2002
car is in central NJ
What would be a decent price to pay at auction for a 1999 RX 300 fully loaded with medium-high mileage?
How about the same for a rx 300 2001 with navigation?
thanks in advance.

I just put an ad in the local paper for my '01 Impala LS with 19K miles on the clock for $15,9K.
The car is Sandrift Metallic, loaded, Cruise, ABS, CD player, power everything, 3800 V6, Cold A/C, auto, etc.
Have I priced my ride too high or too low?
Thanks for your feedback, as always!
Drivin'
Not trying to jump in before Terry, but I was just talking with a Chevy dealer buddy yesterday.
Even Carmax is asking high $17K's for '01 Impala LS sedans, again with more mileage.
Am I wrong here?
Impress on your potential buyers the condition it's in, the maintenance, etc. Good luck.
Thanks for the help... Vikd.
I'm looking for the same type of vehicle right now, purchasing within 30 days or so.
$2,200 is a fair price .. but $1,9/$2,0ish seems about right ..
Good luck and enjoy ..
Terry.
It's a 98, it has 92 klicks, upgrade Nav, it's got a little kiss here, a little kiss there, the interior doesn't look like a soccer team was in there, but all and all it's a pretty nice ride ... right .?
If the service is all there and the rubber is staring at another 20k+ miles, then trade side, you should be seeing the high $13's, might see the low low $14's, being a yankee boy, the no heat in the seats might hold it back .. this is probably not a bad ride for Retail RD, a ultra detail, the right service, make it look "day glo" and drop it in the paper for $16,900 and cut it from the herd for $15,5/$16,5 ..
I hope this helps ...
Terry.
I'm guessing your looking for a
4WD .....?
The 99's .. 4WD's, all the stuff standing tall and miles in the high 30's are doing the high $21's, some will kick over $22 .. the 01's, with miles in the 20's are rolling around in the $28ish figure, the higher the miles, the lower the price ..
Terry.
I like your price of $15,9, that's smart ~ it's much easier to sell a vehicle that has the "right" price than too fall into the "market soup" with everyone else, that has to negotiate to your price .. I'm thinkin' $15,2/$15,7 drop kicks that puppy to a new home ..
Terry.
Zue has some good idea's, the 300M is a great buy right now, super clean low mile 99/2000 DeVilles, 99 Sevilles, 00/01 Catera's for under $16 .. 00 Lincoln LS's with ALL the stuff (sport pack, V8, slider, heated bun warmers, etc) are a great buy for way under $20 .. 99/00 Acura TL's for way under $20, 99 Lexus ES300 for under $20 ---
I could on and on, it's easier to tell me what you like and I can tell you what will work ....
Terry.
A great ad, all the service records on the front seat -- trade side, you might see $24ish on a trade .. so on the retail side, $27,9 in the paper and let it go to the cute girl with the halter top for $26,5/$27,5 ..
Let me know ....
Terry :-)
1999 Infiniti I30 "Limited" (the snazzy trim package)
*68K miles
*white & gold 2 tone paint
*new tires
*sunroof, Bose CD changer, leather, all the usual goodies
*terrific condition - looks like new
*in Texas
What say you, wholesale and retail. He's getting numbers from the low $14's on a trade to high $16's for a retail sale.
Have a great weekend.
Drivin'
1. The new CR-V was apparantly used for a bit of a weekend joyride by the owner to the tune of nearly 800 miles! I have a real problem paying the same price for a new car with 800 miles as I could buy a new one for with say 10 miles.
2. They are hem-hawing (regional term prolly) about my trade. First we looked at the NADA book, then the Black Book, then the manager tells me my trade (a 2001 Tahoe LT if you don't recall) is not selling well at the auction. The salesman (from whom I've bought a couple of Hondas in the past 3 years, and I get all of my service done at this store, even non-Hondas) is supposed to get back to me today about my trade.
This is so friggin' complicated. Buying cars is driving my nuts! OK rant over. Terry, got any advise?
Ok, it's a 99, we got a handshaker flopping around, we got 55k, it's a SL2 .. and it's nice, but kinda average across the board ..
Saturns are running through the auctions faster than Super Bowl tickets, there is just a ton of em' out there .. miles are stiff for the year and we have no A u t o .. ouch.!
I don't think you will see much more than $3/$3,500 on the trade side .. Me personally, I would be checking out the Honda's - Vue's are going no where in a big fat hurry .. or, a nice clean pre-owned Rav4, Honda, etc - right now, money is cheap and most credit unions will spring 4.5/5.5% on a 00 or a 01 ..
I hope this helps ....
Terry.
There is no hem hawing around .. if they are nice, clean and low in miles (like yours, I hope) .. then I have seen them hit as high as $27 and some change as of yesterday .. that's why I hit this puppy at $26 to give everyone some room.
Kinda remember, dealerships are like aquariums, they are always looking out at the world, not seeing the whole picture .. especially some of the import dealers, they have know idea what a this or a that is worth sometimes .. I must get 10/15 calls a week - Hey Terry, whats a 00 Suburban 4x4 LT worth with 20k -and- are you a player for it ... Aaaaah Yep.!
You may hafta shop around a little .. when you stare at little cars all day, the big ones sometimes scare them, plus most of these guys don't like auctions, they feel nice and comfortable in their offices .. get em' at a big auction and you have to start pumping valium in em' .l.o.l....
Hey, keep me up on this one ...
Terry.
Terry-- to more specifically answer your question; not too fond of Chryslers or a larger car like the Caddy (though I would agree both are nice veh) but more interested in something like an LS or possibly something from Acura/Infin/Lex/Audi. I guess something leaning more towards the luxo/sport side of the spectrum. Hope this is enough info..
Thanks again Gents...great info here!
Vikd
Any info on buying the new with 800 miles on it? Shouldn't I just hold out for a truly new one?
I'm interested in the value of a 2003 Accord EX-V6 sedan. The car is Silver with black leather, 7700 miles, excellent condition (it should be). The car is my wife's and she is getting a company car. I prefer a stick so I'm considering getting rid of this car and my '96 Civic to get something a bit more fun ...
Thanks!
Leather seats, wheels and shift knob, heated bun warmers, red w/ the gold pack, auto, factory alarm system, hot mirrors, keyless entry & power antenna & weather/AM/FM/cassette & 4 extra mounted studs.
TMV range is around $12,600 dealer/outstanding.
Many thanks for your insight!
Steve, Host
i already know what to expect out of it so i'll go on and ask you about the 2nd car i want which is a '94 BMW 318is ... i know it's a lot less car than the 325 but mine will require some serious work in the near future and since i dont want to end my BMW experience i decided to go lower ... to a 318.
this is what i am looking for at this time:
'94 318is , 2dr coupe, 5sp manual, leather and all the goodies with around 100k miles in good condition and with SOME service records and if possible i want it to be black :-)
i live in NoCali, Sacramento.
i am interested in both retail/auction prices.
Terry.
These Subaru's do big money right now .. it will hang at least the ultra low to mid $9's at the block .. might not see $12,6 on the retail side, but will do all of "Oceans 11" ..
Let me know what happens ...
Terry.

In April of 2001, my mom traded her 1993 Plymouth Duster to the dealer. They only gave her $150 for it. Do you think that was right? Here's the specs:
2.5L Engine
A/C
Fog Lamps
Automatic Transmission
Alloy Wheels
Power Steering, brakes
125,000 ish thousand miles. New timing belt.
Here's the problems:
The rear taillamp was busted from an accident, and there was a crease in the rear left panel by the taillamp. The bumper was still there, but in need of a new cover. It was garaged, had glossy paint, and NO dents. Basically babied. Just that body damage. It ran great, but in need of a starter, I'm guessing.
What do you think? Was she ripped off? (I think so.) Other dealers were offering $1,000+

Terry.
April 00 build date (6 pack cd in dash, instead of the cd clogging up the glove box) .. auto, bun warmers, 17's, slider, V8, select shift, it was just at $40,000 new .. you should be able to grab a super nice one of these for under $19 with 20kish and take advantage of the 48mo/50,000 warranty .. the Acura's are great vehicles, the "S's" are 02's, so they will still do the $25ish figure .. and the 00 Audi A4's with the 1.8T Quattro's should be had for $19 or less ..
So, you have lot's of pics for the dollar and it's cheap money at the credit unions and such, most will finance a 00 for 4.5/5.5% for 60 months if needed ...
Terry.
I hope this helps ...
Terry.
Check me on this one, please. I'm in SoCal and a local dealer has a 2002 Maxima GLE he wants to move. Apparently its an unwind. Car has 400 miles, original sticker was $28,617. They offered to sell it for $21,116. Car is dark blue with grey interior. They told me first it was a demo and would qualify for Nissan's 2.9% 60 month financing. When I was ready to sign, it sudddenly had to be bank financed at 5.25%. I looked the car over and drove it - no problems I could see. What do you think about the price on this car? The last minute financing trickery made me stop. I appreciate your help. Apparently this dealership has new owners and they claim to have inherited 15 of these 2002 Maximas - some new, some demos and some unwinds. This is the only one equiped the way I wanted it.
Thanks.
I'll either try some other Honda places in St. Louis or just keep the Tahoe.
I think you could do this with the wife's Tahoe for under $50 if she really likes the vehicle.
My Buick is usually a toasty 90 when I get into it. (Or at least it feels that warm compared to the outside.) I don't have to clear off snow other than really big ones from the hood, roof and trunk.
Seems like you and I are probably within 100 miles of each other, as I'm just 20 mi E of St. Louis.
TB
The Tahoe is a 2wd, with 2drs .. the 2 drs don't help it much and of course we are lookin' at 100k, but all in all, a fair price would be $6,9/$7,5 and the ultra high $5's, low $6's should make both happy ..
Terry.
