Please give me an idea about the trade-in value of a black on black 2000 Infiniti I30 with traction control and winter package. The car is in Ohio (44212) and has about 84,000 miles with 2 dings and a scratch. Otherwise, it is in great shape. Also, is it worth getting the imperfections fixed before trading the car in?

    Thanks,
    Jeff

...... Tblazer is right in-line here, what may hold this puppy back, will be the handshaker and the miles, don't get your feelings hurt if you see more in that $22ish figure, but $23 would be great.! ..

but let us know ... :)

..... What can I say, it's the right color for the area .. the miles, well, aaah, uhm, gheeeeez you need to hook-up to a dating service that's inside of 500 miles of your house .. trade side, in and around the $8's .. dings are dings, you may want to get the detail guy to do a "mop and glo" before you start down Trade Ave.

How's life in the fast lane?

Its finally starting to warm up here, I think spring is in sight.

You need to send some Subarus up here, they are bringing crazy money. Here's some examples....

    1999 Subaru Outback, 5-speed, 71k, $13,999

    1998 Subaru Outback, auto, 86k, $11,995

    2000 Subaru Outback, auto, 61k, $16,995

    1991 Subaru Legacy L wagon, awd, 5-speed, 132k, $4995

    1991 Subaru Loyale sedan, 5-speed, awd, 100k, $4995

Those were just the ones I saw recently. Me thinks this land of moose coins is going nutso on used car prices.

-Located in Northern Calif - near SF
-Bought at auction by local used car dealer...he's asking $9900
    -What's a fair offer? $7500? $8000? More?
  • rroyce10rroyce10 Member Posts: 9,332
    ..... $9,900 ....? -- that's a great price -- IF, you are a car dealer in Baghdad ..

Anyway, before you think about buying this MB, you may want think about what it costs to fix one, if the air compressor goes out, the brake cylinders, the pins alone are $8 bucks a piece, etc, etc. .. Oooh, could get ugly.

If you Can't live without it, he "may" have $5 grand in it, $7,5 would be the ETW ..

    Thanks.

Too bad it's the job that requires all the driving. I was (overly) hopeful that I could get more for it...guess I'll be driving this one for at least a couple more years.

    Re: the 190

It's not for me, but for a friend who believes this is a safer, better car for his teenage son than many other alternatives. He's one who isn't bothered by maintenance costs.

Before you replied, I advised him that a $7500 offer would be more than fair...may have him start the discussion at $7k...

Hi, I have a red 2001 Toyota MR-2 Spyder with leather and carbon fiber dash, It has 26,500 miles and I live in Georgia(30740) I was wanting to know what to expect on trade in value. It is in very good condition with just a few minor chips ect, I was hoping for a good amount over kbb value due to them being semi-rare

A coworker of mine is looking at the following car. The car just came off of lease. Does anyone have a good idea on wholsale pricing?

Silver 2001 SE Maxima with Sunroof, leather, Bose & Alloy wheels. Brentwoodvolvo you out there?
  • steverstever Guest Posts: 52,454
Soobs aren't much cheaper in Boise - this place doesn't list odometer readings, but turns a lot of them, and gets good money for them. That was another reason I didn't mind going up your way for mine.

    Remember, they're AWD :-)

I've never heard of a MT car being called a "handshaker". I like it.

We'll see if I can live with the big depreciation hit.

  • akanglakangl Member Posts: 3,282
Yeah, they do bring all the money no doubt there.

We thought about buying a new one, but the gas mileage just wasn't high enough. I've owned 2 Imprezas and barely got 25 mpg with either of them. That's why we went with the Corolla, 32/40 is the epa rating on that. Now if May 28 would hurry up and get here!! This 9 mpg stuff is killing me.

Anybody want a used 454, probably have to plant flowers in it or something, its too darn expensive to drive!!

What a great forum! Thanks in advance, everyone. Been lurking a while, now I have a car to sell on "Retail Road". I live in Houston.

2000 Expedition. Eddie Bauer. Blue w/ tan leather.
2WD. One owner. 62,000 miles (ouch) Tires are only half gone (20,000 miles).
Options: 3rd seat, tint, roof rack.
Car is very clean inside and out. Just a few scars in the cargo area plastic. Paint is glossy and deep, couple of dings. No signs of mistreatment. Mechanically perfect, drives great. Got all the maintenance records on the front seat; done like clockwork. Just had it detailed, so it shows well.

Lots of these in the newspaper here, so I want to go in with a "ready-to-sell" price on the ad.
My best guesstimate so far is to advertise it for $17, take $16.

1994 Geo Prism LSi 1.8L handshaker

106K on the clock and new rubber (Goodyear Regatta2's, nothing cheap about them.)

I'm gonna check it out tonight (in about an hour BTW) but the owner won't be there, Mom is showing it.

That new rubber is on alloy wheels, it has A/C and a moonroof. The windows and locks are the manual type, and I think it has the rear defogger as well. Color is black (as best I can tell, I'm colorblind) and owner says all records are there, but of course I can see it all...

If you don't remember, I'm just east of that big croquet wicket on the Mississippi River near where the Cards and Rams play.

The owner is asking $2800, but already said he would entertain offers, I'm thinking around 2K (it really does look nice, almost showroom new.)

As transportation value, its probably worth a bit more.

What say you Terry or Bill? This would make a good daily beater and if I can unload the Buick for the $1K I paid for it, I can probably save a significant bit on my operating costs.

    Thanks in advance.

OBTW, if I do buy this, what should I ask for the 87 LeSabre with 129K on the clock, great Michelin tires, A/C converted to R134a. I think I'd ask $1500 and take the first $750-1K in greenbacks. It also recently had a new exhaust with new kitty and passed its last smog test with flying colors (at the first fast pass point FWIW)

of course a bad day of golf is still better than a good day of work, right.

The Prism is a 1.6L according to the sticker under the hood.

Don't always trust what that sign on the window says.

Drove nice, certainly not the torque of the Buick, nor the pull to 7K of the SVT.

Nice ride, the normal scratches and stuff for an 8 year old car...

So I'll leave you alone now.

    Cheers,

You say "Ever the collector of meaningless minutiae.." and you're onto something. That Mitsu V6 is starting to burn a bit even with only 77K miles (all city for 11 years though). Good oil advice. Thanks,

30k miles, no sale green, 5-spd. No spoiler, roof or ABS but all the ES goodies (PW,PL,Alloys, etc). A local Buy-here, pay here is asking 7800. Looks to be in nice shape. What say y'all?

    ZIP code is 84606, BTW.

    Thanks in advance,

    Terry,
    Need to sell my relatives'

1996 Taurus GL with 130,000 highway miles

well-maintained, minor parking lot kisses on rear bumper, front bumper had a bra since day one and looks brand new

auto/air/cassette, pwr w/l, alloys. car is in good condition, garage-kept, also have take-off set of snows in great shape.

what $$ to ask in the paper? Realistic offer??

Many thanks in advance for your expertise.
  • dkuhajdadkuhajda Member Posts: 487
BTW where is the car located?
That kind of car is going to be VERY condition dependent to place a realistic price on it.

Full and proper maintenance records from day one (per the owners manual), good detail, plus a recent mechanics inspection. $3000 asking price, may be a little high (or low) depending on the condition of the car and where you live. $1500 to $2000 is not an unreasonable offer. Maybe $2500 out the door on a good day.

FYI within a 100 mile radius of where I am at, there are over 50 used 1996 Ford Taurus for sale with between 90K and 140K miles. Average dealer asking price is $3000 to $3500, lowest $1295, highest $4595.

There are lots of people looking for under $3000 reliable transportation. With maintenance records and a recent inspection, you will be able to give the perception that it is a good car, even with the high mileage on it.

96 Ford Taurus GL, well maintained, recent mechanical inspection, clean, reliable and ready to drive, $3000.

They sold this one before I could get to it. Darn. A Mazda dealer has its twin, though-
    '00 Pro ES 1.8
    NS Green
    5spd
    24k miles
    Cruise / CD / wheels
    No roof or spoiler
Asking (way too much) - $10500

Another Buy here / pay here:
    '00 Pro ES (again)
    Silver (mucho better)
    Auto (mucho worser)
    42k miles
    All the goodies-
    Cruise, CD, Roof, Spoiler, ABS
    Asking $8900

What say you to these two puppies? I prefer a handshaker, so how much of a hit should I expect?

    Thanks again,
    Jason

why would you even LOOK at a car on a buy here/pay here lot?
  • rroyce10rroyce10 Member Posts: 9,332
    .... Hey Geo, It's a JX .. right .?

Miles are looow, sounds like it could be a real nice one, super color combo, good history, great condition, $12,0 doesn't sounds bad at all .. right now the duplicate to that vehicle is doing the high $10's, low $11's a the auctions, even the yankee auctions down the street from you - I remember you are from the Niagara/Buffalo area .. hey start em' up at $11 and see what happens, the JXI's are doing "around" the $12/$13's.

It may not look like spring yet to you, but the market is thinking that way - in another 2/4 wks, I bet these prices will go up another $500/$1,000 ..

                Let me know ....

                     Terry.

.... You ordered a new Corolla .? good for you.! *You go girl ...* I like the Corollas, but I reeeally the new ones, the style, size and "look" of them, I like em' a bunch better than the Camry's ..

                  Terry.
  • rroyce10rroyce10 Member Posts: 9,332
..... $10 .? not a bad price .. probably have the high $7's, low $8's in it, so figure $9ish for it .. - it's a changing market like I just posted, so they will be seeing a buyer for it soon (Easter week, Easter hats, temp in the 60/70's, convert buyers get a little crazy up north) .. I hafta say, the Sebrings have a much better re-sale and they do have a great ride and lotsa room for a Convert ..

Good luck and let me know ...

                    Terry :)
  • rroyce10rroyce10 Member Posts: 9,332
    ..... 1500 ...? 2500 ....?

                   V6 .. ... V8 ...?

                   HD ... ? ...3500 ...?

               Reg cab ..? Xcab -- ..?

Don't make me come over there and whack you with my 3 iron ....

                   Terry.

...... Hey Lou - These are nice vehicles, awd, both sliders, low miles, all the stuff .. they dealer probably has $22/$23 in it, $24/$25 "seems" about right ... you might be able to snatch this baby for $23,5/$24,0 ..

                    Terry.
  • stebustebu Member Posts: 204
I assume buy/pay here lot refers to a typical motor mile used car dealer. So, what gives?
  • rroyce10rroyce10 Member Posts: 9,332
...... Ok, we have a 00 EB in a 2wd, color is ok, we have 62 klicks and you say it it's a clean one, 5.4 V8.?

Dealers in the DFW, Houston area are paying the $15/$16 range at the auctions for them with 60kish miles .. I don't have a Houston paper in front of me, so I can't say -- I would "assume" $17,9 asking.? and cut that baby loose with the first $16,9/$17,5 ...

               Terry.
  • rroyce10rroyce10 Member Posts: 9,332
... A little MR2 action .. the color is good, the miles are low - if it's a clean one, no freedom fry invasions, no paintwork, service is ok, tires are good .. then trade side, you should be seeing in and around the $15's for it, "might", "could", "maybe" see $16,0 if it's puuurffect and it glows in the dark ..

Good luck and let me know ...

                    Terry.
  • rroyce10rroyce10 Member Posts: 9,332
...... Clean ~ 01 Maxima SE's with like 15/25k, loaded up, Bose, heated leather bun warmers, sliders, spoilers, Auto .. are doing in and around that high $14, low low $15's range come trade side ..

    ..... Sounds like a nice one, miles are fine, no rust, no paintwork -- 1.8 vs 1.6 ..? check the 8th digit of the Vin#, if it's a 6, it's a 1.6, if it's a 8, then it's the 1.8 .. $2000 ..? take cash, drop it at the kitchen table, it A l w a y s get's a better response than a $50 check and I will be back "Monday" with the rest stuff .. :)

I always worry about "newer" cars on buy here/pay here lots. Those guys don't pay wholesale for anything, so there HAS to be a reason why they didn't pay wholesale - salvage title, lemon law repurchase, rebuilt wreck, etc - all the things you can't tell from a quick lookover and in the case of the title status (salvage/flood/lemon), you wouldn't know until after you bought the car.

Avoid those places like the plague.

Thanks.....The Chrysler is GONE ! I knew somebody
would snap it up......It was NICE !
The salesman at the chevy dealer has been driving
me NUTS ! He called this AM. Its gonna be 50
degrees and sunny this weekend! Come on up and
take it for the weekend its ready and the plates
are on it. Let your woman drive it etc......
Me thinks they wanna MOVE this unit before it has
another b-day on the lot.....Makes me wonder if
something is wrong with that Z-24...But it has a
clean carfax and no visible repaints etc.....
Maybe they will knock some more $$$ of that 10k OTD
    price......
    Thanks again Terry !...............geo

and there's your typical "late model used car" type lots that offer in house financing. I guess I shoulda been more specific. You're right, I won't step foot on one of these "we'll finance anybody" type places.

..... Right color for the area, miles are a little stiff, but we have the wheels, ABS, power seat, the sneakers are semi new .. depending on the dealer with the p.seat, abs, wheels you might see the mid/high $9's, could see the low low $10's with the Xtra's, just make sure everyone is aware of it - also make sure it has a real good clean-up before you go shopping ... down Retail Rd, $12,5 in the paper and $11,5/$12,0 sends it down to the Camelback .. l.o.l..

Yup, finally figured out what car I wanted. Funny thing is it was the one that hubby wanted in the first place......ya know, Mr. Practical and all. I resisted it, said I wanted a used DC Minivan. I tell ya, driving that 454 Chevy for a while is a killer.......9 mpg on a good day. Made me rethink my choice of vehicles.

If you saw what our back up vehicle is you'd die laughing. 1983 Jeep Cherokee, 2.8L V-6, 4wd (but needs front driveline), auto, been wrecked who knows how many times and put back together, alloys, runs like a champ, no idea how many miles are on it. Ah well, the color's right its silver (I think).

    Hi guys,

Have a dealer offering me $26K + TTL on a brand new 02 Nissan Maxima SE. 500 miles, Meridian package, sun roof, leather, loaded execept for the helical limitted slip. I can't get invoice pricing on this model, so I'm stumped as to whether it's a good deal. It's about the same $s as a similarly equiped '03 as far as edmunds TMV goes.

    Any ideas?

500 miles is NOT brand new. If you can get an '03 with zero miles for the same price, why even entertain a year-old model that was beat to death by test-drivers?
